Café Restaurant Dauphine in Frankendael

We have been here a few times now and are making this place our place to go for our weekend meet ups. We have tried different dishes here and so far they have all been tasty. Love the variety on the menu though am very much looking forward them adding the sweet potato fries on the menu. The service is good in particular the guy server who makes our visit even more pleasant.

The Fruits de Mer were not fresh, especially the langoustines

I was very impressed with the service and the atmosphere here. There was an upscale, yet laid-back vibe that I felt made this a lovely place to come for a date, or with friends for a girls night out. I was particularly a fan of the corn chowder, and the perfect table bread. The decor was cute, modern, and warm. The car parked out front set the stage for the whole night. Great choice, and kudos to the design wizard who chose that car.

Good menu, nice location, but the staff still has a lot to learn. Guidance from the manager was necessary, even though the manager himself wasn't exactly a service-minded person. And then there's the slouching during job interviews. I'll go somewhere else next time. 😒

Not so strong this time. Well-meaning staff, as always. But, if you put ceviche on the menu, you have to be able to prepare it. This mackerel was not sour enough, there was no (rest of the) leche de tigre visible and there was no coriander to be seen, but there was rocket... not for nothing we sent both plates back to the kitchen. There was no further reaction to that, except for the obligatory excuses from the staff. Then: if you offer (expensive) king crab, it is nice if the staff knows which utensils go with it and where they are! For a dinner of €200+ not so strong!

We always meet here before Ajax's European matches. Good, solid food and a great atmosphere. It's a shame there are fewer and fewer vegetarian options (the veggie burger has been discontinued as well). Oh, and the Dame Blanche is three scoops of ice cream with a bit of chocolate.

Food quality is lower than mediocre and portions are small. Standard Dutch service quality, which is lower than the world. The place can be considered nice enough for a celebration or corporate dinner. Briefly, there are other options out there, just skip it.

5 stars for food, service, and atmosphere. Simply excellent, fast, cozy, and relaxed. The wine list is also excellent! We also went to Club Dauphine that same week, and that was also fantastic, highly recommended.

Delicious lunch in a nice building with some history.

Dauphine succeeds in creating a pleasant, homey atmosphere in its large, warmly decorated space. Delicious food, a great selection, and friendly staff. Sometimes it takes a while for the staff to notice guests' requests, but overall, it's a pleasant experience.

After not being there for a while, we were a bit disappointed this time. When asked how many scallops were in the appetizer, the answer was three, but it turned out to be only two (and small ones). We asked three times for extra butter, but that request was ignored. The egg with mayo appetizer was only two half eggs this time instead of the usual three, so €6.95 for a hard-boiled egg is quite expensive. We didn't get the wine we'd asked for; it turned out to be €7.00 more expensive. A waiter said one of our guests would get a salad with his dish, but it didn't arrive. When we asked the young lady, she did bring the salad, which then cost almost €5.00 on the bill. It turned out that only one parking ticket had been stamped, so we had to go all the way back outside/in to have the second ticket stamped. All in all, after years of satisfaction, we left the restaurant disappointed and not very happy, and we don't think we'll be visiting Dauphine again in the near future. A delicious weekend dinner and subsequent performance by Royal Dutch Scam made for a memorable evening.

We waited an hour between starters and desserts, but it was more than worth it. The atmosphere is pleasant, as is the service. Dauphine has been one of my favorite restaurants for years.

Although large, it's still a cozy restaurant. Ideally located for events at the Amsterdam Arena, Afas Live, or the Ziggo Dome. Excellent service. A nice menu and a good glass of wine.

A bit of a bygone era. Boring map and a moderately engaged team. It used to be better.

The portions were on the small side

Delicious food and generally excellent service. We were a group of 20. The 11 male staff members were curt and snappy with everyone. A guy in his late 20s with dark hair. I hope he changes his mind soon, and then I'll add a star to the review.

If you call yourself a cafe and serve breakfast, do not take 25 minutes to serve a croissant and a bowl of yoghurt when the place is empty (we were the only 2 customers). Also, kitchen can start serving eggs after 10:00. How do you call that a breakfast?

We had a delicious meal! The atmosphere is really good. But the acoustics aren't great, very noisy.

Easily accessible from Amstel Station. Friendly service, albeit young and a bit inexperienced. This becomes apparent when you ask about the menu or how it's served. But they're super friendly, and the food is truly amazing and of good quality. Highly recommended!

Great restaurant, but what I find particularly disappointing is that Dauphine has changed the interior. I miss the red benches... The experience has changed since the makeover.

Things seem to be a bit less good at Dauphine lately. We come here often, but the quality is declining. The meat was mediocre, especially with the watery, tasteless pepper sauce. It was a bit unimaginative, and it lacks the quality it used to have. Other dishes also lack the same high level. It's probably also difficult to maintain the quality of the food and service. With so much choice in Amsterdam, it's necessary to survive. We're going to try something else.

We had a lovely evening at Dauphine. The staff were kind and friendly. We came with our 10 months old baby and were happy with the service from a waiter who offered us a baby high chair and a toy car. More than appreciated! Our food was great, drinks were nice. the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere.

Great place to eat, highly recommend. Interesting menu (in a good way).

The food was good and the service as well. The only two remarks I would like to leave is that it took quite some time to get our food. Fortunately, we were not in a hurry. The second remark is that EUR 30 for a karaf (75 cc) of house wine is too much.

Dauphine delivers what it promises. Both the service and the kitchen run smoothly. It's easily accessible by public transport (Amstel Station is just around the corner) and by car (there's always a spot in the garage). You can practically come here for any occasion. - Business: professional appearance, easy to reach - Friends: spacious space, relaxed atmosphere, and an extensive menu I've been coming here since it opened in 2004.

Great "brasserie" style menu. Super atmosphere. Wait staff sometimes a bit unattentive, but once at your table super friendly. We've been frequent guests since its inception, and will continue to visit.

Cozy restaurant with good service in an unexpectedly special setting!

Excellent service, decent food (how it should be), in a pleasant atmosphere, for a reasonable price (even after prices have been raised recently). If you want good food without going fancy, Dauphine is the place to go in Amsterdam. Are you by car? There is no better place, parking garage available. I think even for free; for a limited time, of course.

The truffle ravioli isn't what it used to be; less ravioli, replaced by tasteless cabbage cubes, and no truffle to be found/taste. Apparently, they had to cut back! A shame, because we came especially for it!

Great atmosphere across from Amstel Station, lots of working people. Excellent coffee and a waitress with a sense of humor.

A very pleasant restaurant with international food, done right, but without any specific character. Overall I liked the place and would definitely recommend it for a safe restaurant in this area. 8/10 overall. Nothing really much to complain, but nothing exciting too.

Nice vibe, good food, sitting outside

Once again we had a wonderful meal at Dauphine. Mackerel ceviche as a starter and catfish as a main course. Special thanks for the exceptionally good service. My table companion only arrived halfway through my meal and the staff served both main courses at exactly that time, so that we could leave for Stopera on time. Class!

Always very satisfied with food and service at Dauphine. This time with a group of 18 and everything was impeccable once again. Kudos to the Dauphine team!

We have been coming here for years and it is always a nice place to eat. Atmospheric, especially after the re-styling, art deco elements make it feel classic. Staff always friendly without being pushy. The food is without exception of excellent quality and waiting times are not long, even if you are with a larger group. The last time we were there I mentioned that we were coming in honor of my husband's 75th birthday and we were pampered extra with a festive dessert as a highlight.

Had a nice meal with four outside on the terrace. City noise at the roundabout and the railway but not disturbing. Friendly and smooth service. Parking in the garage around the corner and with a discount if you have the ticket scanned at Dauphine.

This remains good on all fronts and hopefully it will stay that way. Casual atmosphere, nice extensive wine and menu card. Very friendly and interested staff, they are clearly busy gaining or passing on knowledge and talk about food and wine

Amazing atmosphere, great music and people

June 2025 Remains an iconic place. And often during lunch time very busy, want to eat make a reservation to be sure. But when just have a coffee service is not always good and they forget about you. Could be because of was busy, had plenty of better experiences in the past.

Always a nice place for meeting and conversation

Great place to sit and work with a coffee or tea. Food is very good too. I particularly like their ravioli and their chocolate truffles with cream. They have vegan options. It's a very classy establishment right next to Amstel station.

Nice big restaurant, very enjoyable service, but the food was quite average I'm afraid and expensive for what it was. The Chicken to share is basically just a whole roast Chicken, bland, unattractive looking and €55 for a chicken? really.....

Great food at a reasonable price. Recommend esp. if you’re staying at Ruby Emma and want a really good meal.

Great performances Friday night

New interior makes Dauphine a nice (business) lunch spot. Service is firm and friendly. Smaller lunch menu is good with tasty food.

Had dinner with a large group of 30 people. Excellent for each other. Good and friendly service and excellent food.

We had made a reservation, which worked fine as always. The old familiar service was great again. The service that was unknown to me was clearly a bit less…

We regularly visit restaurant Dauphine. Very nice menu with French Brasserie influences. Quality tasty and good food with friendly and efficient service. Price/quality in order.

The servers were very friendly, it didn't take long before our dishes were served and the quality of the food is good.

Only had coffee and it was nice. Toilet clean and staff very fast and friendly.

Club Dauphine is super fun, once a month or so on Friday night with performances by good singers. The food on the other hand was really bad for 95 euros p.p.. we had a vegetarian menu and that tasteless, dry and actually just not tasty. I am a good eater and was quite hungry, but could not eat it. When our half-eaten portions were collected, we were clear to the waitress that it was not ok. She shrugged her shoulders, apparently happens more often. So go to club dauphine and pay 20 euros for the nice performances, but do not eat here…

Great location, beautiful restaurant and super nice and attentive service.. this time the food (asparagus salad) was not quite my taste but that is personal.. I will come back soon to enjoy it 🥂

Perfect place for an appointment if someone comes to Amsterdam by car. Spacious layout with always a spot. Big advantage is the parking garage, which is free if you have lunch there.

Great opportunity to eat with several people. 16 men actually ran smoothly.

This was the last restaurant we visited before leaving Amsterdam and was the perfect way to end our trip. The vibes were immaculate, the service was good and the food was simply delectable, compliments to the Chef(s). Our server Iwan was super sweet and friendly. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The kind of place where you are happy to pay the service charge and leave a tip.

Friendly service and the food and wine are always top notch!

We have waited a little bit longer for the food but it was totally worth it. The food was delicious and the waiters were very friendly and very polite so we had a great time. The atmosphere is really nice and kinda relaxing despite the big space and the crowd.
