Had to wait a very long time for a watery bouillabaisse that wasn't generously filled as described and had also gone cold. Shared dining has been replaced by very expensive main courses. The only positive here is the lovely terrace.

Always great. A lovely atmosphere, good food and drinks, and all reasonably priced! You even get a cookie with your coffee. They have a beautiful terrace in the summer, and when it's colder, you can sit inside. The Club Sandwich is simply AMAZING! Without a doubt, one of the best Club Sandwiches in Amsterdam. The staff is always friendly and relaxed. We always come for lunch, but never tried dinner.

Had club sandwich, and smashed avocado open sandwich. Great OJ. Extremely tasty, host was working solo but was very attentive. Food arrived in decent time.

The food and service were excellent. The pace was perfect, and the staff was very friendly. If I had to mention one area for improvement, it would be the temperature. It felt chilly near the entrance/exit. (Hence the 4 stars.) I'll definitely be back!

I went for the boeuf bourguignon but it was only served for dinner not lunch. Slightly sad but well ordered fries with truffle sauce and eggs Florentine. The eggs were cooked properly the sauce tasty and the truffle sauce with fries super. BUT what a surprise when they came to me with a cute bowl of boeuf bourguignon. Can't put less that 5* for this top notch attention

Nice place, I've been told that in summer the terrace and the view on the water is awesome! Friendly service. The interior was a bit dark when I came there, but it was raining outside and cold and inside it was warm!

I went to this restaurant for a group dinner on a budget, but the experience was terrible. The place itself is very nice and located in a quiet corner, complete with a patio. The service was terrible, with four completely uncoordinated young people forgetting orders (a 40-minute wait for a beer, dessert arrived first) and serving tables intermittently. The food, despite being a set menu, was also of poor quality, especially the chicken breast, which arrived raw and therefore inedible. The bread ran out without refills, before the main course. I'm sorry, but I couldn't find anything redeeming about this restaurant.

Had coffee and apple pie. It was a typical Hague coffee, but it tasted good. They also weren't staffed enough for the busy Champion Run.

Spent a day in Amsterdam and found this cozy Cafe Restaurant near Centraal Station. The lunch menu outside caught my eye, and it wasn’t too busy for a Friday afternoon. I ordered a fresh pressed juice and a Club Sandwich—both arrived within 10–15 minutes. The portion was generous (or maybe I’d just had too many Dutch pastries beforehand 😅). Lovely ambience, fair prices (around €22), and I’d happily come back for dinner with friends. Thank you!

A bit unfair to rate them during Sail but al lot of things went wrong. Forgot to service one of us, kitchen ran out of hamburgers, bar ran out of one of the beers and the steak was inedible. Atrocious that the person who wasn't served his order was simply told the kitchen had closed after we asked for his meal for a third time. Admittedly after strong complaints he was served his dinner eventually after everyone else had finished. Seems like a nice place to be on 'normal' days but our dinner in wasn't.

It was the first and last lunch we had in Amsterdam. Lara was great and the reason we came back last time. She even played our music for us. Great place, great food, and great people. "Hey Carlos, take me on your bike." We'll take you on our bikes and in our hearts, Lara. ❤️

The service deserves a big thumbs up; even during the huge Sail Amsterdam crowds, they remained friendly. Delicious, enjoyable meals, a lovely terrace, and a nice view.

We were out for a walk and checked on Maps if there were any restaurants nearby to stop for a beer, and this place came up. We decided to give it a try and it turned out to be a great surprise. It’s not a fancy restaurant, more on the casual side—at least during the daytime when we visited. We ordered beers, but also some small bites. I had a Caesar salad, and I have to say I’ve never had one this good before—very tasty and generous in size, easily enough for two people with a light appetite. The service was excellent and friendly, and the place was clean and well-kept. There’s also a fairly large terrace where you can eat and drink, which I think really makes the place special, since it’s not right on a busy street. Overall, a very pleasant and peaceful spot to stop by. It was a tough choice whether to give five stars, and it easily could have deserved them. I’ll go with four this time, mainly because during the daytime the place felt more casual than restaurant-like—but honestly, it wouldn’t be wrong to rate it five either.

There was no menu on the table and we didnt know what the restaurant had when the waiter came. Afterwards we waited an hour and never got any service again so we left. We even went to the counter to order but got turned down with the reasoning that orders would get processed quicker if the waiter comes directly to our table. There were three neighbouring tables that arrived way later than us and ordered and finished their drinks/food while we got completely ignored. If you dont want to attend to our table please just tell us directly so we dont waste an hour of our day for nothing...

What a wonderful place for a delicious lunch. Quiet, just a few minutes outside the bustling city center. Friendly and approachable service, a nice wine list, and an excellent lunch. We'll definitely be back.

A very disappointing restaurant: despite appearances and decent food, the service is very slow, the waitresses seem unresponsive (despite the empty room), but the highlight is the charge for a simple 70cl bottle of water at €7.50!!! The price isn't announced when you order, and the bottle isn't sealed...which ultimately looks like tap water! Avoid.

Reserved dinner for four, arrived a bit earlier and took a table on the terrace. Tried to make eye contact with the waiters about the reservation and ask if we sitting outside was ok, but they looked through us, running around (no hurt feelings). We decided to sit down and when the waitress finally noticed us, we were told off for not asking where we should sit in such a tone you use for your doggo, when she pees on the carpet. We were like, ok, they were busy, it's a warm day, we're all humans, move on. She did ask if we wanted a bigger table later, which we appreciated. We ordered steaks and a friend a starter as the main. When the dishes arrived, it was missing the sides and the starter, which we got after we finished our steaks. Another couple next to us also asked for their missing drinks and were also told off haha. Overall, the steaks were delicious, the side (fries) looked a bit like the remaining scraps of the bag, so we decided to continue with drinks in Vooges, that's literally 5 mins walk from this place. Service was friendly and quick there. I mean, there's enough places in Amsterdam to choose from.

Lucas our waiter was so friendly to us. He helped us with our drinks and had a wonderful attitude.

The waitress was amazing, as we had questions about our card. My English isn't that good, but she was very kind and made my order clear. The snack was the best I've ever had. The place is wonderful, right in front of a canal. Thank you for the service.

What a fantastic restaurant, truly an undiscovered gem in Amsterdam. It is wonderful to stay here (both outside and inside beautiful) and a large group is no problem. Everything that was served was delicious, I will definitely come back for the snacks and cod.

What a wonderful afternoon/evening we had here. We sat on the atmospheric terrace by the water. The staff is very friendly and regularly comes by to ask if they can help with anything. Both the food and the drinks were very tasty. Top!

Last week I ate here with a large group, and it was delicious! Fantastic terrace, nice, spontaneous service. Good choice of non-alcoholic beers, and delicious snacks (the quesadillas are recommended!). As a main course I had an entrecote, which was cooked deliciously. And the dessert (chocolate creme brulee) was delicious. Really a nice place!

We had a great time drinking and eating here with a large group. The service was attentive and fast. They regularly came to ask if we wanted something to drink. The snacks were very tasty and the dinner was great. The entrecôte was wonderfully tender and well seasoned, just like the ratatouille. Tip: order a delicious homemade hibiscus-lime lemonade. What a lovely place to have a drink and eat! The twenty of us enjoyed the delicious wines and home-made lemonade, the lavish snacks and the tasteful dinner! Friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere. An absolute must!

Unfortunately very disappointing dinner at café Hoogendam. The quality of the risotto and cod was really below average, very little taste. And that while the meals are really high on the price. Nice for a beer on the terrace but we will not eat here again..

Dietary requirements were carefully taken into account. The quality of the food was superb. Missed some fries or mash with the main course (steak). The portions of the same dish were not always the same size. The cocktails are fantastic.

Waiting time 1 hour 1 hour 30 minutes between each dish. Excessive price given quantity and quality. The summit 11.45 euros for 1 glass of sparkling water and 1 bottle of water.

Se acercó a mí en plena agresión por mi orden, luego tuvo el descaro de acusarme de tener una actitud, cuando estaba sentado solo, tranquilamente ocupándose de mis asuntos. Como mujer que cenaba sola, me sentía incómoda, insegura y genuinamente amenazada por su comportamiento. Y para colmo, me dijo que “me largara”, porque aparentemente, la cortesía básica y el servicio al cliente no existen en su mundo. Este hombre es una bandera roja caminante con un serio problema de ego, tratando de dirigir un restaurante atrapado en el pasado con comida que ni siquiera llega a mediocre. El lugar estaba vacío, y con razón. Si así tratas a los huéspedes que pagan, no es de extrañar que tus calificaciones estén en la cuneta.

In my 8 years of living in Amsterdam, I’ve never had a more unpleasant and unsettling experience at a restaurant. The individual who identified himself as the owner approached me in an aggressive and confrontational manner over my order—something I was fully within my rights to request under the arrangement offered. Instead of addressing the situation professionally, he escalated it unnecessarily, accused me of having an “attitude,” and then told me to leave the premises in a highly inappropriate and hostile way. As a woman dining alone, I felt extremely uncomfortable and even unsafe. No guest should be made to feel this way. The atmosphere is outdated, the food is mediocre at best, and the overall experience was nothing short of appalling. It’s no surprise the restaurant was empty—this kind of treatment speaks volumes, and the existing ratings reflect exactly what I experienced.

ha, luckily, this is one of those special places where it all fits: quality, passion, location. The wonderfully casual place, with the nice staff, but especially the excellent cuisine. I will come back here often.

I booked this place after hearing so many good things and I love small plates as you get to try a bunch of things. All of the food ideas were there, but everything lacked salt and seasoning. The ramen broth was not ramen broth and genuinely had no flavour, because of that, everything in the ramen lacked flavour. The shrimp dumplings had good flavour, but we're over steamed, so fell apart and were difficult to eat. The chicken boas were good, along with the truffle balls. Maybe we came on an off day, but because of the experience I wouldn't be in a rush back, especially as this was for a birthday dinner which I had specified when booking and it wasn't acknowledged, we were both underwhelmed.

We visited as part of a tour tasting local specialties and beer. The staff was very friendly and we were even greeted by a member of the family that owns the place. It was a beautiful sunny day so the outdoor patio was packed. There was plenty of room inside and the atmosphere was very warm and inviting. We had their farm saison (crafted by them) and sampled their bitterballen with their own mustard. They claimed they made the best in town. Gotta admit that they were delicious and the tastiest we had had. Thanks for the great visit! Highly recommend!

Had a lovely lunch with 2 in the sun on the terrace. On recommendation we drank the tastiest lemonade in a long time and then ate very tasty flamkuchen and a sandwich. We had brought our own sunscreen but thought it was great to see that the staff also offered it!

The homemade lemonades are delicious and come in large glasses. The dishes are very tasty and with an original twist. The service is friendly. We were there once when it was quiet and there were enough staff, then everything went very smoothly. Logically it was less when it was busy and there were few staff. However, the quality of the dishes was still very good.

Your homemade tonic is AWFUL. Start buying it again! —— Addition after owner reply: Sure, I can add more to justify the 1 star rating if you ask for it. FOOD - I usually avoid ordering any food at your establishment. Tried it a few times as you are the only cafe in the neighborhood and regretted doing it every time. Low quality, no care and overpriced for what you get. STAFF - staff has normally no clue what they are doing, usually you are left waiting for a waiter for ages. DECOR - everyone has his own taste. Let’s say I rather sit outside. Regarding the AWFUL tonic - we did politely complain to your staff. We were served a substitution drink with the awful tonic again. We asked if it was possible to have something else, we were told “sorry this is it”. We did not drink our cocktails, paid 26€ and left. Hope this helps you with further context

Best place to relax in Amsterdam, I can stay on this couch for the whole day

Normally there is always a nice terrace for drinks, but unfortunately you have switched to exclusively home-made lemonades. It's a shame that there is no choice at all. I ordered a gin and tonic and received it with homemade tonic, very sour and therefore not tasty. The price has also gone up while the taste experience has plummeted. A wrong cut in my opinion. So that means having a drink on another terrace.

Went there for dinner last Saturday. Unfortunately, the service was nothing to write home about. We ordered several snacks and they arrived on time, but they were all very small. The gazpacho included a small piece of bread and when asked for more bread the answer was a disinterested no. We were not asked in between if we wanted more drinks. And clearing the table and ordering dessert took more than 20 minutes because new customers arrived. It is understandable that you have to wait a while. But it really felt like we were already done, so the money was in. Now quickly provide the new people with food and drinks. In addition, the waitress had started clearing the table and asking if we wanted dessert, but when the new customers came in she did not return to our table. And so the rest of the plates that were on the table, no dessert and no drinks. When asking if we can order, it took another 10 minutes before you could speak to someone. Then I went inside to pay. I think it's a shame what happened, especially after reading the good reviews.

Food was good and very tasty. The size of the dishes (small) relative to the price (high) is not really aligned, so not really value for money. The service was, unfortunately, typical for Amsterdam - slow and the staff is really not aware of what is happening, who is serving what and needed to be reminded several times of our drink order and to check on our food order. While it’s a great location and decent food, it’s not very high on our list for recommending nor going back. Too bad.

I've been there twice and I've loved the vibe. Beautiful indoors and outdoors, amazing music, good selección of drinks and tasty and affordable food. I really enjoyed the place, 1st time with my kids, 2nd with friends.
