Waiter is pressed for no reason, meatball was NOT good

A fantastic and unique café with delicious food, a cozy atmosphere, and friendly service. Even with our large dog, we received a very warm welcome and had a lovely afternoon. The walls are adorned with large pictures, chill music plays, and it's a truly wonderful spot. The food was also delicious. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

Didn't eat but, a friend had his BD party here. Great memories were made here years ago glad to see it still is up and running.

Don't be in a hurry once you're there. We received our food about forty minutes after ordering. There were three servers. Two of them, including a woman, were extremely unhelpful, to say the least. As for the food... we couldn't finish it because it was far too salty. We should have heeded the negative reviews; it would have saved us time and money. P.S. Remember to check all the dishes you order to avoid any unpleasant surprises on the bill. In other words, avoid this place.

Had the best cheese toastie here! Also a wide variety of herbal teas if you don’t want to drink alcohol. Very polite staff. The only thing that would improve future visits would be to get a door on the entrance to the toilets

Awesome bar, cool atmosphere, relaxed people. Great acoustics, it was quite full and I could easily have a conversation. I love the extra-large tables!

A very nice and unique place. They serve small meals and a wide variety of drinks. The interior of Cafe Schuim is very uniquely designed (see pictures), and when the weather is nice, there are also a few small outdoor seating areas. We wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam for a while and found the perfect place. With a cold Coke and a ham and cheese sandwich with ketchup (typical for the Netherlands), we were able to recharge our batteries before diving back into the hustle and bustle. We were also impressed by the friendly service from Bavaria, who was really funny and kept us entertained. We'd love to come back sometime.

A pub like no other. A world full of birds of paradise. Enjoyed spending an evening here.

Very friendly service (waiter or/and owner?). Definitely very nice, and even in German. 😋 It was fun with our kids too. The atmosphere was also very unique...something different. We were here at lunchtime. The food was delicious and arrived quickly (burgers and fries). We'd love to come back...should we ever be back in Amsterdam 🙈

Good place for a beer, the guy at the bar is really nice

I had been walking around for hours, trying to find a pub for a pint of something wasn't trash... and a crowd that wasn't a bunch of loud kids full of Becks. This place drew me in... initial vibe check was reasonable and they had Punk IPA on tap... good start... but it was too late that I realized I had made the classic mistake of walking into a hipster bar and not being a hipster myself. Euro hipster have fewer silly mustaches per capita than other hipster enclaves, it seems. I'll have to figure out a new giveaway. I had my pint. It was lovely but lonely. Guess I didnt need another... I mean... there I was. At the bar. Empty pint glass... place was pretty empty. Fair enough. Off I went. I would have had at least one more drink and some food, but I guess they are doing such awesome business that they didn't need mine.

HORROR!!! We ordered Caesar salad. Waited 45 minutes. The service seemed drugged and slow. We've never eaten anything so disgusting! Cold, cheap ham, no Parmesan, no croutons. The bottom line was €4 wasted. €17 was thrown in the trash. Disgusting toilet. The first review I've ever given. Save your money!! The kitchen was closed after the fifth table ordered. No service, overpriced, and unprofessional. We ate two forks and got up and left.

My food was given to others because they didn't like me, and I had to reorder and pay. No one called my name, even though I was sitting right in front of them. Only after threatening to call the police did I get my money back. No apology, just rude behavior. What a shithole.

This place was cool once, I visited it on Thursday evening and it was full of dodge people, everyone is sitting only outside, the place was empty inside and it felt weird. They have no cocktails but at least the lady at the counter is willing to give you the ingredients and do it yourself (ofc only simple cocktails or just a simple mix rather than a cocktail). I never tried the food . Very limited draft beers offered.. No music that attracts you. I remember this was a lovely place with djs even sometimes. The only thibk that remains nice is the interior decor. Pity, it was a kind of gem in the past

There is little attention paid to customers. We had to wait a long time before we were helped, while we were sitting at the bar. It was not busy and the bar staff was more concerned with each other than paying attention to the clientele.

Don’t get food here. When they don’t bring it to you they blame the costumer for not paying attention while they should be the ones who know where the food needs to go. I work in a cafe myself and this is not acceptable to blame the costumer for that. It the waiters job. I even asked if my food was still coming and the waiter said yes and than still puts the food on another table 5 min later and blames me when I asked my money back but did not get my money back because they said it was my fault. He just said you should have taken it from the other table. How inappropriate is that? I’m not going to take food from another customers table what do you expect?

Pleasant place to eat. Nice interior, for those who love art. everyone joins everyone else. You can order at the counter. Bouncer with ham and cheese is recommended. You've eaten more than enough for €10.50. Management needs work. You have to be patient. Of course, time passes faster in good company.

Interesting atmosphere, although some chairs need to be replaced (upholstery totally torn), food was okay (fries and sandwich really good, burger okay), you get drinks at the counter, food is brought. The waiter duo was very friendly.

Incredibly special, authentic and stylish atmosphere with a good selection of drinks and small snacks. It invites you to linger - when the weather is good, there are comfortable seats in front of the door. The service speaks fluent German, is wonderfully direct, friendly and extravagant. The atmosphere is special, the music is chilling, the audience is diverse, colorful, wonderfully mixed... The dog was warmly welcomed and given a large jug of water. Thanks for a short break in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam.. ;-)

Very noisy and very dirty place, the tables are not clean and my waitress told us "if you want something clean don't order here".

Don't go drinking anywhere else. Full stop. Don't ask me why, just go and see for yourself. There is also a wise, warm-hearted and irresistable barwoman who holds down the fort (with a very enigmatic past). She also gets a big thumbs up from me. Unwrapping here feels like a spoilt child on a Christmas morning.

A local recommended this place to me so I went on to have a look and I was not disappointed. The food was good and fair-priced, the service was great and all in all this place was lovely. I have been told this is a great place to meet people and there was indeed a casual approach when it comes to the seating. Especially the outside area might be the place to be when in search of a chat. The evening seems to be the rush hour for this establishment so it was very crowded once the daylight started to fade. That locals recommendation surely deserves to be carried out to the world.

Enjoyed sharing a jug of Amstel beer with friends (5-6 glasses). One friend had a cup of tea, and two others had glasses of dark beer - around 25 Euros all together, including a 10% tip! Very nice place, good service, great atmosphere. I understand they have live music in the evenings sometimes, but I was there during the day. It is reasonably close to Central Station and not far from Dam Square, so a good central location on a busy street to watch the world go by! Local folk tell me the name has a double meaning... Schuim is both "sea foam" and "scum of the earth" (the English translation is a little harsh here!) But in other words a place for ordinary people who can leave their airs and graces outside and sit together in equality. Recommended - dank u wel Cafe Schuim for a pleasant afternoon.

Great neighbourhood bar with outside seating close to the centre. Quirky art inside and good Heineken. The frites were absolutely delicious and the best of our trip! Staff were friendly and service swift.
