Great service with a smile from the incredibly handsome guy with the reddish-brown hair. And delicious hot chocolate! Too bad there wasn't any vegan whipped cream.

Today we enjoyed an excellent Jerusalem artichoke quiche. Staff very friendly! Older review: A beautiful location for sitting outside or in to enjoy a drink, a snack or a meal. I thoroughly enjoyed the pasta with homemade walnut pesto followed by a lemon meringue pie from patisserie Kuyt. Prices not particularly low (and you have to pay entrance to the Hortus) but the food and location are both worth it. It can get very busy at lunchtimes. Check the website about opening times for dinner (at the time of writing Thursday & Sunday).

We ordered one lactose-free cappuccino and one regular cappuccino. The waitress mixed them up when he brought them to us. Not ideal when you're lactose intolerant.

Friendly service and delicious apple pie

Warm and welcoming service in a beautiful and peaceful setting, allowing you to savor every ray of Dutch autumn sunshine. The quiche and salad were exceptional, and the ginger orangeade was very subtle.

The atmosphere is nice of course, how can nature be not nice. But the management of this place is absolutely horrible. I had a wedding celebration for 11. I wanted to increase the number to 12 and no matter how much I as the bride begged to them, they did not want to help us. This is really very antisocial and they should be ashamed of themselves (this goes to Ramon ten Zende, Head of Catering).

A hidden gem in the heart of Amsterdam! The restaurant in the Botanical Garden offers a truly wonderful atmosphere — surrounded by greenery. The service was exceptional: attentive, friendly, and welcoming from the moment we arrived. I had the daily quiche, which was absolutely delicious, and the apple pie was simply outstanding — one of the best I've had in a long time. Highly recommended for a relaxing and tasty lunch break.

Very pretty cafe in the botanical garden

Very good restaurant, varied menu and quality products. The restaurant's setting is magnificent, but be aware that it is reserved for visitors to the botanical garden.

Not the cheapest catering establishment in Amsterdam but in a beautiful location. In the garden you can sit quietly and read -- unless there are elderly ladies chatting loudly with each other. Ask them politely to speak a little more quietly. And intervene if fellow visitors are sitting or walking on the phone: this is one of Amsterdam's few quiet places.

Stopped in for a quick glass of wine. Lovely outdoor seating by the conservatory.

nice place for lunch!! After a walk in the garden you can sit on a terrace (or inside) the toast with pea spread and the chai were very tasty!

Poor service, left before eating because we were ignored for so long

Waited 10 minutes to have our presence acknowledged, then once we ordered it took another 25 minutes for our open cheese sandwiches to come out - we were the only patrons the whole time, so no excuse of being busy. No explanation offered. While the coffees were nice enough, they were tiny. The wait staff were far more invested in their conversation than serving. The sandwiches were extremely underwhelming.

Delicious firm brownie and tasty chai latte (with oat milk). Blankets available outside. Very friendly service. Highchairs available and there is a changing table in the toilet.

Nice interier, nice staff and amazing cakes. It took us few minutes of waitig to get a table but it was worth it.

Well, Danphie is of course a dirty gossiping hardworking cutie, Rene is the toughest man I have ever met in my life. Carlo is the guy who makes the panties come off and to call clever Jasper's analyzes legendary would be an understatement. Then there are Karin, Radi, Jeroen and Monique, I want to get rid of them. But so was the orangery!!!

The main greenhouse is closed for renovations. Without it there is no point in visiting the botanical garden. 13.5 € is not worth it now

Enjoyed the daily sweet potato and fennel soup as well as the Gulpener beer on tap. Sat in the evening sun after a relaxing walk in the Botanical garden. The longer opening hours on a Sunday was a welcome bonus.

Lovely, peaceful and great place for an escape in the middle of the city.

Upon entering you almost imagine yourself in a 19th century setting. It is beautiful, attractive and spacious. Good lighting, open but still cozy. I had the best latte machiato ever here. The staff are friendly and professional.

It has a charm that other cafes don't have. The decoration is simple but extremely pretty, and the coffees and sweets are incredible. The waffle cake is simply delicious. The price of the cakes is €5.50 and the coffee is €3.80, more or less. The cheesecake, lemon and white chocolate would have been great if it weren't for the bitter almond in the cookie 🙄

Be mindful that this place is located in botanical gardens so you need to buy ticket to enter (13€). All the dishes we got at the cafe were flavorful and delicious; fresh and healthy ingredients. Overall dining experience was very peaceful and made me happy :)

I think the orangery is the coffee spot in the Hortus botanicus. Although it is a pleasant place, I think the service still needs a little bit of training. There was a special service by a Belgian young man who I really liked. The apple pie and chocolate milk were great. The cappuccino was also very tasty

No one seated us when we walked in even there were several of staff watching us.

Good service and nice location, but very pricey, especially if you have also paid admission for the Hortus.

The service was slow and it took a lot of time to get the staff’s attention. We were never asked about any allergens and were served food full of nuts. The chocolate brownie was cold. Hard to cut and very chewy. The Tony’s Chocaloney Hot Chocolate sounded amazing but was average at best. And the cola we were served was not Coca Cola, but some random brand which tasted terrible. The nicest thing we had was the banana muffin which tasted pretty standard. Sadly would not recommend. Although the botanical gardens are beautiful and very worth visiting!

We got the last table in the place around 15:00. I would come here again just for this dirty chai latte and carrot cake! YUM.

Op zichzelf een hele fijne plek om te gaan zitten in deze prachtige Hortus Botanicus. De cappuccino van Boot, branders uit Baarn, was van uitmuntende kwaliteit. Ook op het gebak van een lokale patisserie viel niets aan te merken. De werkhouding van sommige medewerkers was voor verbetering vatbaar en de prijs van een stukje taart navenant hoog (€5,90!).

The Hortus is well worth a visit for anyone with an interest in plants. The cafe is very good value and quality

Yum! Loved the feta watermelon salad. Lovely location. Table service was quick. Lots of yummy things on the menu. Really enjoyed it. Shame you can only get to it once you've paid to get into the garden.

We went in for a coffee and quick snack but it ended up taking about an hour. It was nice still, but a waste of time a bit.

Heerlijke, rustige plek. Effe weg van de drukte. Puur genieten van mooie planten, bomen, vlinders en heerlijke cappuccino!

Das Café liegt im Botanischen Garten. Dadurch ist es sehr idyllisch und ruhiger als in der Amsterdamer Innenstadt. Das Essen ist sehr lecker und schön angerichtet. Das Personal ist freundlich und die Preise für Amsterdam Verhältnisse überaus fair. Klare Empfehlung für jene, die ein ruhiges Fleckchen mitten in Amsterdam suchen!

I don't know if the staff were all new employees or just not trained enough but they completely ignored the tables further away from the café. It took them 15 minutes to clean our table and take our order. We had to wait even more to pay.

Lunch in the hortus botanical garden after strolling through the gardens ... Great experience. Try the dish of the day as suggested.
