Great cafe with friendly staff, but very expensive. A simple house wine will set you back six euros, a regular glass of wine for four euros. Fancy some bitterballen? A portion of bitterballen is ten euros.

Really old cafe. Lovely interiors. Came in and had a beer on a busy early afternoon. There were quite a few tables outside. All were full. The inside isn’t huge so possible it’s hard to find a spot here when people don’t want to sit outside. Staff was friendly and efficient.

Have a wonderful evening. I had a great time with the flamboyant host - my balls were so wonderfully tickled. 5 stars

Disappointing service experience. Had a beer and asked about food options. The waiter (possibly the owner) listed a few snacks, but when I asked if they had French fries, he sarcastically replied “did I mention it!?” His rude “humor” was completely inappropriate for customer service. Won’t be returning.

Great spot for a drink in the sun. Nice and local in the Frederiksplein neighborhood. If Mrs. X could also show her authentic self in the service, it would really be a top place. Mrs. X: Showing pure and genuine interest in people sells better than faking and fakely serving someone a cappuccino.

Lovely brunch spot. I had a boterham (=open face sandwich) with rookvless (= smoked beef similar to Italian braesola) that also had rucola, truffle oil, toasted pine nuts and Parmesan. My companion’s boterham had roast veg, vegan feta, and tomato pesto. Both excellent but not cheap. Coffees afterwards were too weak.

I've never been there but it seems great and the staff is nice.

Lovely place to start the evening. Rounds of free new herring were much appreciated.

One of the dishes was under the sandwich section but it came with one bread ? When I asked why they said they cut from the middle of the load so thats why its one bread. By that logic hamburgers could be served in the order of: uncut bread, condiments, meat ? What differentiates hamburger from the composition of eggs benedict ? Then hotdog is also a sandwich and there is no difference between the composition of hotdogs, hamburger, avocado toast, eggs benedict ? Its chaos. All these problems can be resolved if that one dish I dont remember the name of is listed alone under toast. The servers were very attentive also. Nice location. Thank you.

I like the place and the concept of the pub. We wanted to have a nice brunch there, and the coffee was really good. My waffle was tasty. But the service was very slow and guys forgot to give us the desserts and then the forks for them, so we were a bit disappointed. Anyway, it’s a nice place

Finally, a brown café where the welcome lives up to the reputation of the place. Unlike another Café Brun we visited, this one really gave us a very good experience of this typical Amsterdam place. The waiter was charming in explaining to us the typical drinks of this typical place. We had a very pleasant time.

The most beautiful neighborhood pub! Where neighbors and people from outside meet each other and enjoy the good life. It feels like home, but away.

Nice location. Young barman was good. Barmaid with short hair was very rude in an unnecessary scenario, soured the experience and put me off returning.

A shout-out for Jonas, the amazing barman that deliver us epic drinks and spirit tasters. We wanted somethings local and he ask us what he liked and grabbed drinks of our taste. Very knowledgeable and kind. Not to forget the epic cheese / pickle board he gave to us. As for the bar itself, it is so so cozy, welcoming and warm inside. Think of being trapped in time but with epic service, amazing booze / Bar snack and lovely aesthetic. Definitely recommend ♡

Stayed in Amsterdam for a few days and this was by far our favorite stop! The staff was fantastic, and they had a great selection of drinks (especially the Brancmenta). Tasty food too! Thanks to Lucash and the rest of the staff for helping to make our trip so great!

Simply the best! I've enjoyed every single of my multiple visits here! The staff is very friendly to tourists and explain the intricacies of local liqueurs with patience and respect. Food is great, definitely recommend trying bitterballen and gehaktballen. No fancy cocktails, but total immersion in the Dutch drinking culture, as authentic as it gets.

I went to this bar because my partner lost his wallet with his ID inside and we needed change in coins to take photos at the consulate. The super kind man changed me a 50 bill and gave me the coins I needed for the photos. I met a Spanish guy there who told me that the same thing had happened to him, so it is highly recommended to go if you need urgent change (since many places tell you that they do not accept cash). As if that were not enough, it is a very nice place to be and the brunch looked great. We had a coffee to go and he gave us a cake that was incredible. We need more people like this!!!!

What a beautiful brown pub this is, very atmospheric and pleasantly busy. We were with a large group, 15 people for drinks! Service is very good, quick and attentive staff and the bitter and cheese balls are delicious. Will try their lunch soon! Also located in a beautiful place, definitely recommended!

This afternoon I was in Café Oosterling with the bartenders Marcel and Lucas. You immediately feel at home and at ease there. The atmosphere is cozy and the bartenders make you feel welcome. It is really a place where you will like to come back, both for the atmosphere and the personal service. I will definitely come back again!

Salmon sandwich was very expensive and did not come with any avocado €20.00 very expensive Spa red € 4.75 ridiculous Either we have been scammed or you just do the math so we will never come there again.

Enjoyed a terrific lunch here. The tuna melt and the Ninette were so delicious! (Tuna melt was the overall favourite.) Fabulous atmosphere and beer recommendations. Highly recommended.

A great brown bar! The beer is very nice and the aged jenever was so good we bought a bottle to take home. And it’s a fun atmosphere - well worth the walk to get here.

Best real brown Café ever! Owners Marcel and Oscar have now transferred it, and it is certainly now more than worth it. I don't know the new owner personally.

Nice place to stop in for a beer a snacks. At 1400 on a Wednesday they didn’t have anything other than snacks so I cannot speak to the full menu. Very nice old school interior where tech is not allowed so that’s cool. Nice to see a place where you aren’t distracted by your phone.

Lovely little pub. Was pretty busy when we went - we were the only tourists but we were made to feel welcomed. Bar staff talked us through the different beers with their own favourites.

Bartender (big) Lucas is always ready to help you and is happy to advise you on the extensive selection of drinks, little Lucas is not bad either. Highly recommended for those who enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and good company!"

Very cozy place, and the breakfast was delicious too. Staff could remain more attentive and responsive to eye contact even after the order has been served.

Oh my goodness, the waffles. Visiting Amsterdam for the first time and came in here for breakfast. Their waffle puts every other waffle I have ever eaten to shame. We came back the next day to order them again because they were so delicious.

Lovely brown pub. Nice kegs and a ceiling smoked brown by smokers at the time. I think it is one of the few cafes in Amsterdam that still has a liquor store permit. Nice terrace with good service.
