We had such a fun evening, it was the first night of our stay in the city (so we wanted the right start!) and the service and atmosphere were perfect. Delicious food (generous portions!) and great location.

A very popular spot! We wanted to try some typical Dutch food while in Amsterdam and this spot filled the bill. We had stampot which is hearty stew-like dish. We sat outside which is good for people watching but our table was tiny so it felt a bit cramped. Inside the restaurant there seemed to be a lively atmosphere. Our server was nice and was happy to answer any questions we had.

The service was very good, with typical food and excellent service! I recommend it!

Visiting Café Sonneveld was a real treat! The pork ribs were phenomenal—tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned with a rich, smoky flavor that just melted in my mouth. Every bite was a delight, and it’s clear the kitchen takes pride in its dishes. The service was attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The café itself has a warm, cozy atmosphere, with a casual yet charming vibe that makes it ideal for both a relaxed lunch or a hearty dinner. Watching the staff interact with other guests, you can tell it’s a place where people enjoy working and genuinely care about the dining experience.

Excellent Dutch restaurant. Good food, good service, and a great atmosphere. If I return to Amsterdam, I will.

A typical Dutch bar, full of Dutch people, they have a menu in Spanish, excellent service, and gluten-free options.

We had a wonderful meal in the former home of the late Wim Sonneveld. The spare ribs were highly recommended, the waitress said, and she was right! Absolutely fantastic!

Don't miss this restaurant, it's excellent in terms of quality and price, and it offers good typical Dutch dishes.

All the staff are super charming! The food is spectacular. If you don't like hustle and bustle, don't go there. It's like a tavern that never stops for a second. Small but powerful! I recommend ordering what's marked with an asterisk; it's the most popular and traditional food in Holland. Thank you for the service and the food! We'll be back ❤️

Stopped for a coffee break. Unfortunately the coffee was not good and expensive. 1 extra star for friendly service.

English pub-style venue. We found it super crowded and the noise level was so high it was hard to talk! Too loud! The food, however, was truly excellent! The best stewpot I've ever had! The service was very efficient despite the many customers. We'll probably return at a different time of year!

A traditional restaurant (popular with many locals) in the Jordan neighborhood. Friendly and welcoming waiters and bartenders, and a very refined and quaint atmosphere. I had the ribs, one of their signature dishes, and was very satisfied. The beer was also good. Definitely worth a try if you're in Amsterdam.

Regular, you order a cake and they charge you one euro more than what it says and two euros extra for a scoop of ice cream that they put in without asking for it, but they do wish you a happy holiday with a smile.

My favorite ribs in the Netherlands! The mashed potatoes are also a Dutch favorite. The prices are reasonable, and the owner even sings with guests. Be sure to make a reservation!

Price hides from the beer manu. Only beer description shows on the manu. This makes me feel bad. Restaurant seeks for tips, although it is not forced. Food is OK.

The entire restaurant was great, with very unique furnishings, super friendly waiters, and the food was tasty (special mention to the ribs!). 100% recommended. A tour guide recommended it to us, and she wasn't wrong at all.

Horrible lugar, propietario muy grosero como somos los otros comensales Holandeses. Definitivamente no vayas aquí si eres un turista, aunque sonríen y se ríen, se nota que están siendo horribles y obviamente no contaban conmigo hablando Holandés. Me sentí muy desagradable, si no quieren turistas dejar de tomar las reservas?

We visit here everytime we come to Amsterdam! The food is great and the staff are amazing.. it's almost like eating at someone's home.. it can get very crowded and reservations are a must! But they make everyone feel welcome and they work hard to make you feel at ease while you dine. It's really a very comfortable environment and I recommend highly!

The food is quite good, although once you've paid, they start to be less friendly. That's just the way the Dutch are...

Amazing place. Very traditional Dutch cuisine and atmosphere. I would caution though... very loud environment. Conversation was near yelling. Fun in one way and a bit difficult on the other. Songs were sung, although we did not know them, but very fun. Recommend to us by locals as one of their favorites. Food was great, price was reasonable.

Good food everything was good . My mother in law and son got the ribs looked good. I got the Dutch dish not bad kind of a mash potatoes and meatloaf type deal still good. The kids loved the spaghetti and wife enjoyed the chicken skewers. Definitely come back again

Cozy cafe located on a quiet street corner, slightly away from the tourist crowds. Food was very average, but the service was very friendly and attentive. Nice place to hang out for a snack and recharge after walking the streets of Amsterdam. No AC, though.

The waiter seemed a bit dismissive because I was Asian. They made us sit together with strangers and insisted that we couldn't even send each other money, but one of us had to pay. Luckily, the other customer stopped me. They even offered to split the bill between us, so I split it in half and ended up paying 4 euros more. The food was edible, but it's not fair to pay like that because it's a hassle. The restaurant should apologize and find a solution, but they insisted it wasn't possible. It's just a mess.

I waited 5 minutes outside the restaurant and no one came to greet me, then I went in with another person to find a waiter, that person was seated and I was told that if I waited outside she might help me, I left without eating and will never come back! I hate this restaurant so much!

We had a delicious dinner! The spareribs, the mussels, the soup of the day, and the shrimp piri piri were all super tasty in very good portions. The staffs were warm and friendly even when the night was very busy. The vibes were cool and the space was cozy. Highly recommended!

Just came for a coffee, fast and friendly service, with an affordable price for a coffee. The neighborhood is very friendly, as is the terrace. I recommend it.

7 euros for a plastic bottle of water. The food is really good though. The service is great but be aware that service is not included in the bill so you will be asked if you want to tip. And once again: SEVEN EUROS for a plastic bottle of water, that's half the price of my main course

The ribs were easily separated as if they were boneless, the meatballs were fried very crispy, and the meat sauce of the pasta was a bit like meat sauce, but it was okay.

Came for lunch in a hot day and sat at an outdoor table. Slow service but we moved inside due to street noise and received much better service. We had salad with tuna and meatball stampot and both were delicious.

Another terrific local find . Friendly and helpful waitrons and a wonderful owner who kindly offered up umbrellas to everyone to use as it had started raining as we left. Generous portions and a good selection of local artisinal beers , cocktails and wine.

Called around 2 p.m. to see if we could push our reservation back. A gentleman informed us they were having an issue and wouldn't be opening for the day. We called later to see if the issued had been resolved and that same gentleman assured us they addressed the problem and just "come on in and they'd get us taken care of". We walked over about 15 minutes later and the lady at the front informed us they were closing early for the night.

Spectacular place to eat typical Dutch food. 100% recommended, and very good prices... if you order a water.

We ordered several things to eat, and one of them was a typical Dutch crepe. They gave me powdered sugar and syrup to sprinkle on. When the crepe was almost gone, I decided to put syrup on it, and when I opened the jar and went to pour it on, dead ants fell all over my food. We told the waiter, and he seemed embarrassed. He took away my plate and the remaining portion. When they brought us the bill, we saw that they were charging us for the crepe, with no discount. That was the detail that made us unhappy.

Tasty and good quality products. Service is also nothing to complain about. I already have the next reservation.

Everything I ordered at this restaurant was delicious but especially the spareribs! The limoncello spritz was fantastic as well. Service was quick and our server was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place to anybody traveling to Amsterdam!

If you like Dutch cuisine, you've come to the right place! Nice staff. You can sit both inside and outside. I've been here a few times now and both inside and outside are nice. Delicious food, good portions. But also for a nice drink in the sun, this is recommended.

Oh my god! So delicious! 🤤😋😌 All three dishes I ordered were delicious, and quite cheap (compared to the expensive and unpalatable British food🤭). My friend and I bet that it would cost 80 euros, but in the end, these three dishes cost 45 euros🤯,

Really unique and delicious food!

Restaurant / Pub frequented mainly by locals and with a pleasant and lively atmosphere. You can taste Dutch cuisine and the ribs that make it so famous. I ate the ribs and, although I am not a fan of this type of dish, I found them truly exquisite, the best I have ever eaten. Minimum waiting time and excellent service, we really appreciated the kindness of the waiters. Prices in line with the Amsterdam average but quality certainly higher than the places in the center. An experience that I absolutely recommend!

A very nice place with home-style cooking on the corner of a beautiful gracht in the center. The dishes are generous and well cooked. The service is very friendly and despite there being a lot of people, it was also quite fast. The price is in line with what was tasted. Don't miss their most requested dishes, of which I have posted photos. Definitely worth trying!!! Treat yourself to a final dessert with their apple and cinnamon cake accompanied by ice cream and cream.
