Good beer; good music, great staff??? what more can you want!!!???

WORST bar i’ve ever been too!! This place manages to combine bad service, mediocre drinks, and an unfriendly attitude all in one stop. Staff seemed uninterested at best and annoyed at worst. Drinks took forever, tasted weak, and weren't worth the price. The bar itself felt disorganized and poorly run, which made the whole experience frustrating instead of enjoyable. Save your money and go literally ANYWHERE else.

I came here by myself during a flight connection, and the staff — Wiken, Saki, and Tineke — were absolutely amazing with me! As a woman traveling alone, visiting a new country can sometimes be challenging, especially when it comes to exploring places and understanding the culture. However, they were SUPER friendly and truly created a fantastic experience for me. They recommended the best days to visit, shared cultural tips, and genuinely impressed me with their kindness and friendship. They even offered social media contacts and made me feel very welcomed and supported. I highly recommend them!

Five and a half hours on a train from London and I was desperate for a good pint and a sit down. Fortunately we stumbled upon this place and it fit the bill perfectly. Low lighting, a great selection of beers and a nice atmosphere. The perfect escape from a cold Amsterdam evening.

Under any circumstances, ask the bartender before you go to the bathroom otherwise you will get kicked out! My wife went to the bathroom while I was looking for a free spot to get seated. The bartender instantly started yelling at us that we have to ask him before one goes to the toilet. No idea what kind of a fetish this is but we where kicked out before we could order our fist drink.

08/09/2025 - Don’t loose your time and money. The service is terrible. The employee is unhygienic, without gloves, and holding the food with her hands. Rude. We canceled the order and left. Worst experience in amesterdam.

Love this place. It has one of the latest opening times if you need a nightcap after a night in the center. The staff are trustworthy and reliable, both they and the regular residents keep an eye on the customers and any stragglers that may be about at that time. As a woman who works night shifts, I feel safe enough to go there after hours have a drink and go home without any issue. Thank you Viktor and all the team x

The best chilly bar next to the station

AVOID like the plague!!!! Fraudster!!! 2 x rum & cokes 50 euros SHOCKED but as good citizens went to PAY cards wouldn’t work -Note. my card has worked fine all day ! His friend at the end of the bar said my card is fine it’s you - We then got frog marched to the cash machine to get cash I was so frightened HORRIBLE MAN even tried to involve random people in the street to threaten us. Anyway cut a long story short police called - we paid the bill obviously and his mate disappeared very quickly (funny that!) - this bar is empty for a reason AVOID AVOID AVOID !!!!

Terrible bar manager, charged extortionate amount of money, £50 euros for 2 rum and cokes. Complete thug and chased us to the cash point to charge us

Typical for Amsterdam, very expensive. Quaintly furnished. Very noisy. 2 toilets, no toilet paper, and the owner doesn't care.

Cozy cafe near Central Station! 🍻 The staff is super friendly, the atmosphere is typically Amsterdam, and the drinks are well-priced. A perfect spot to unwind with a beer or a whiskey. Definitely recommended if you're in the area!

First stop/beer in Amsterdam and so glad it was. Tina, behind the bar, was an absolute delight and gave us great, off the path, recommendations while in town. Great ambiance and made to look like the legendary ship, the Flying Dutchman. Bar draws a local feels type of clientele that made for great conversation.

Had many great nights here at the Flying Dutchman, one of the few bars that are open until late even during weekdays and always offer good service and plenty of spirit options! You’ll find me here at least once a week until I fix my drinking problem :)

Great local bar in Amsterdam with a lot beer options. The staff is very friendly and we come here every time we visit Amsterdam. Definitely try the Texels Skiller Wit. Tina is a great bartender too.

Refused to let a wheelchair user inside on a quiet night because "we might get busy" but claim "it's nothing against disabilities". Disgusting behaviour. Avoid at all costs.

Actually kicked me out in my wheelchair/crutches. The place was dead quiet and we tried to go in with me on crutches & my partner bringing my wheelchair and the bartender said “I don’t have the room, we’re going to get busy in like an hour”. So humiliating and rude.

Hands down the worst pint we have ever had we ordered 16 pints of Heineken and was completely gone off… they refused to refund or give us an alternative drink! It tasted like cheesey quavers but worse. Would not recommend to any one! Terrible!

Drinks swapped, expensive €12.50 aperol spritz, traveling as a group, no separate invoice possible, no request for additional drinks.

The owner is probably the most unpleasant guy in the whole city. It seems that the poor quality rum he sells has gone to his head. I don't know if he has a problem with tourists or if he just doesn't like their life, but of many other bars in Amsterdam I wouldn't even recommend setting foot in this one. There are people who simply should not have a business.

We came to this bar wanting to have a good night, but the waiter ruined it from the beginning. When we tried to ask him a question, he left us mid-conversation to attend to other customers. When we finally managed to ask him about drink prices, his annoyance was palpable, as if our presence made him uncomfortable. Perhaps the problem was being Spanish in Amsterdam, but we expected more professional and less derogatory treatment.

Gran pub recomendado para nosotros por el personal del bar en el Puente de Londres que estaban cerrando cuando los visitamos y en realidad los conocimos cuando fueron allí después de sus turnos! Un buen pub que estaba lleno de lugareños y visitantes por igual y los precios no están tan mal en comparación con otros bares. ¡Buena diversión!

Had time to kill before a boat cruise from across the road at Central Station, so thought I would kill 30 minutes or so with a beer in the Flying Dutchman. Nice relaxed vibe cafe bar, that has a good charm about it. Woman who runs it is very friendly and will be happy to chat away with you will you have your beer. Only stopped in to kill time, but met my needs perfectly.

We live in the Netherlands and wow what Bad place, worse experience ever!!!! Was rushed to place a order, and the bar tender was very rude, Hope you feel good about yourself and your work attitude shame. Not to mention the WC / Bathroom was disgusting and the beer flat. Would not recommend this place.

Flat beer for 11 Euros. Left a good few gulps, just horrible. 8 Euros for a Diet Coke. Felt aggrieved paying these prices, when in the Park Plaza, the prices for drinks were very reasonable. Beware!

As an American, was threatened to have police called because I wouldn’t pay someone else’s tab. If you go there get a receipt for each drink or they will threaten you with arrest unless you pay a random amount.

Rude bar lady- was told to leave due to not wanting a drink but was with someone who was purchasing one. Beer that we did receive was awful, super flat and not worth €8 at all Unfriendly atmosphere, wouldn’t recommend it .

Used to go in there in late 80s , it was a a bit rough n ready but good all the same , barmaid called penny was fantastic. They sold weed out of big box with prices on the lid , have so many great memories of that bar ,, was guilders back then

Great little bar in the heart of Amsterdam. We stayed in hotel Jimmy next door (excellent cheap place to stay) and we would visit here in the evenings! Tina and the bartender were absolutely fantastic and very accommodating, letting us watch our team play in the champions league which was a memorable night! Drinks were generous and service was top class! Free pool downstairs which we enjoyed and had a great laugh! Customers were friendly and we had a lovely time hearing their stories! Great little bar 3 min walk from central station! Well worth the visit! 5⭐️ Thank you for being part of our journey ! €30 ish for a round for 4 people which included lager and vodkas etc;

The Flying Dutchman Café is a pretty cool place really close to Centraal Station. There are quite a few beers on tap to choose from, and there are a bunch of other options for drinks as well. It was relatively quiet when we arrived, so we sat upstairs and stayed there where it remained quiet for the couple of hours we stayed. Definitely a good place to hang out for a few beers.

Can’t really remember being here but it was probably amazing with slightly overpriced beer
