Cafe Thuys in Kinkerbuurt

The place looks cozy, but the staff definitely lacks hospitality. From the moment we walked in, we all felt unwelcome. They were extremely grumpy and arrogant. The cocktails on the menu weren't what they should be, and the staff were also intimate with each other while working. That's more than enough reason for me not to return.

A really great place. Excellent sandwiches, good service, and a very fair price. That's why it's so busy. I recommend checking it out in the afternoon.

The waitress was just downright rude.

Lovely bar/restaurant! We stayed in a hotel just down the road from Cafe Thuys, we spent most evenings after long fun filled days here. The staff are very friendly and the prices are very reasonable and fair. I will certainly be back when I visit Amsterdam again!

Excellent place to enjoy a few drinks. The guys at the bar are super friendly. It was the first place in Amsterdam where they took my order at the table. Great beer recommendations. I'd say this is the best coffee shop in the area.

It's very annoying that bicycles are placed on the sidewalk, forcing people to walk on the bike path. This has been raised many times, but no change has been made.

Prima gegeten. Beperkte kaart en botte (mannelijke) bediening. Weinig respect voor ouderen. Leuk terras nagenoeg aan het water.

A beautiful cafe in Amsterdam! The decor has a charming traditional touch, and the outdoor seating is perfect for the beautiful weather. Very friendly, the Americano coffee is delicious and well-made. Highly recommended!

We sat on the terrace and had a delicious oat cappuccino.

Being turned away because we were “too drunk” made no sense. Were just beautiful.

There was no English on the menu, but the staff translated it (very friendly!) The vegetarian burger and soup of the day were really delicious, and they even had draft beer! The atmosphere was nice, the staff was friendly, and I was able to make good memories :) If you're nearby, be sure to go!

Heel jammer hoe de bediening gewoon geen zin heeft. Het boeit ze niet zo veel hoe je der zit en 15 minuten voor dat ze sluiten een drankje serveren en dan verwachten dat je stipt om 1 uur ready bent om te gaan is niet realistisch. Als je gewoon begint met we gaan over tien minuten eigenlijk sluiten maar joh drink je drankje op en zorg dan dat je daarna gaat, dan gaan wij alvast opruimen etc is dat helemaal oke ipv van langs lopen om 1 met we zijn dicht en dan daarna iemand van de bediening die in mn nek hijgt om ons de kroeg uit te bonjoeren is gewoon niet klant vriendelijk en mist het hartelijke wat ik gewend ben van mijn buurt. Wat heel jammer is want voorgaande jaren heb ik hier altijd heerlijk gezeten.

The ambience was perfect, in the old style. Service at a high level. The food was very tasty and nicely served. Cheesecake with perfect texture. I can only say the best for this place.

As a compliment, a very diverse, vibrant crowd, very Dutch. Great atmosphere for weekend, which starts Thursday, is brilliant and full of energy. Seems the place to go for the weekend. Have Sampled their own beer. Very tasty. Food is amazing. They have a nice board inside with specials. I would book in advance if you want food Thursday onwards. Worth visiting for sure. 👍

Recently discovered gem, super nice terrace, cozy atmosphere inside. Food excellent, for me the steak and satay are the favorites. Found a new neighborhood pub🎉

Great restaurant/bar in Amsterdam. Service was impeccable as well as the food. So good that we came back twice. The steak was a premium cut of meat and the little bitterballen were a great starter too. I definitely recommend this place when in Amsterdam.

I sometimes have a beer or a cup of coffee here with my sister. It is very cozy there. The service is also young and fast. Highly recommended if you want to eat and drink something or do some work.

Cozy pub with a wide range of (special) beers, friendly staff and a top terrace. In my opinion, this café also has a bit more atmosphere and attracts a more diverse audience than cafés that fall under the Goudvisch family (Fred's cousin, Arie, etc.)!

The coffee is very delicious and they give you a very delicious cookie hehe. Here I met the girl who later hosted me for several days in her home in Amsterdam ❤️

Helaas was mijn kennismaking het gevolg van een val van mijn fiets. Ik was een van de Wiegbrug slachtoffers. Ik werd super lief en goed opgevangen door het team van Café Thuys en hun gasten. Dus ik kan met recht zeggen dat service en sfeer fantastisch zijn. Verder is het natuurlijk een prachtige plek. Gegeten heb ik er nog niet, maar dat kan niet verkeerd zijn. Volgens mij komen er veel vaste gasten. Ik kom hier zeker nog een keer terug, maar dan zonder vallen en nadat mijn enkel niet meer gebroken is.

Café Thuys is een leuke kroeg met mooie plekken aan het water. Wij waren met een groep en wilden elkaar graag spreken, binnen was dat goed mogelijk aan een grote tafel zonder harde muziek. Ruime keuze aan bieren en snacks.

Cheap brown bar of the neighborhood! Good beer and bar food at a great price to go and enjoy the terrace, or indoors, with friends on an evening. Local pub vibes with no extra time or effort put anywhere on purpose; hence the ‘brown bar’. Great service every time, and even has food wifi!

Cooler Laden mit großer Bierauswahl. Das Personal ist sehr nett. Der Bürger war auch gut, also alles in allem kann man hier einen schönen Abend verbringen.

Update: We hebben hier vanavond gegeten en het is nog steeds een gezellige zaak en op de bediening is ook niets aan te merken. Maar het eten viel wel tegen. Kipsaté met friet en mayo; Kipsaté lag bovenop de patat waardoor deze zijn krokante textuur was verloren voor je een hap kon nemen. Mede omdat ook alles doordrenkt was met satésaus en het maar een paar patatjes waren. De satésaus is gewoon simpele wyko. Het mist iets van ketjap bijvoorbeeld. Atjar is een half vorkje garnering. Dit zullen wij niet snel nog eens doen en dat is jammer.

Uitstekende plek om te eten en/of een pint te drinken. Er werken alleen maar leuke mensen, hoe krijgen ze het voor mekaar!

Lovely local pub with great bier selection from tap. We also had a burger and chicken saté. Both tasted natural and fresh.

Locale piccolo ma molto carino, fuori dal centro di Amsterdam e dalla zona turistica. Una bella atmosfera, anche grazie alla gentilezza e simpatia dei ragazzi che ci hanno servito. Ottima qualità del cibo e bella scelta di birre. Prezzi onesti. Consigliatissimo!

Personeel in de bediening is moeilijk te krijgen tegenwoordig, dat snapt iedereen, maar blijkbaar kan het ergens zó erg tegenvallen dat het een reden is om niet meer terug te komen na jaren van prima ervaringen.

In dit eetcafe worden eenvoudige doch smakelijk maaltijden bereid. De porties zijn vrij klein en de menukaart is vrij beperkt. De bediening verloopt soepel en vriendelijk.Er is een buitenterras. De prijs-kwaliteit verhouding is uitstekend.

Los precios están bien y el servicio es muy amable. La comida teníamos solo los nachos, así que no puedo hacer un juicio real sobre el rendimiento de la cocina. El vino tinto fue una buena elección. Me encanta volver cuando estoy en el barrio!
