Today, for the umpteenth time, I had to wait an absurdly long time to order something. Then I had to wait at least as long for a few cups of coffee, and then I finally left. It was moderately busy, there were plenty of staff, but the coffee machine was blamed, and no apology was given. It's a shame, because the atmosphere and location are good.

A very popular café-restaurant. Lots of people coming and going. It makes it a bit noisy and drafty. But the food is excellent.

Staff works so hard clearly understaffed but so friendly

Great place, nice atmosphere, and friendly people. The food is good, but the service is always slow, unfortunately. When it's semi-busy, you have to ask several times where your drink is if you're sitting outside.

The weissbier was good, the music was a bit vague, the lamps weren't very nice, but otherwise it was nicely decorated.

It is a slightly more upscale pub. A tad fancier foods and drinks. But still with the pub look and feel. It was very busy, and staff was doing their best, but there were times we were without drinks. On the other hand, can't complain we stayed till closing and have had a good time.

Burrata, steak and cheesecake were very good. Nice atmosphere.

What a terrible restaurant. What terrible service!! Twice in a short time, I wasn't served. Last week, I sat on the terrace with a friend. We asked for the menu and then waited 45 minutes to be served. We just left. This also happened once in winter, but indoors. I sat down at a table but I wasn't served... they simply didn't see me. After using the restroom, I left.

It's a lovely terrace, comfortable seating, but if you order a glass of rosé, they always give you the most expensive one, €7.80 per glass. I find this rude. Normally, you're supposed to ask which one you want, and if you don't ask, they give you the house wine. I found this a huge turn-off.

The perfect place to scratch off your Amsterdam hospitality bingo card. All the clichés are amply covered (basic menu, incompetent staff, and ridiculously low price-quality ratio). If you're feeling masochistic, you've come to the right place. Bonus point for the location.

Nice spot. Not quite on the Amstel River, but you can sit comfortably in a corner. We only had a drink there, but the food looked great. Not an exciting menu, but it was fine!

Pleasant decor and terrace, but we found the food prices quite high. The staff also didn't seem very friendly or trying their best to help us. We didn't feel very welcome and therefore left. Perhaps it would be better on other days.

Walked in, was able to be seated immediately had a bitterballen and espresso martini which was really nice and creamy for €12.

Disappointing cafe. You really have to work to get the attention of the staff to order something. It feels like you are being ignored on purpose. The food you get is extremely disappointing, especially because of the prices they ask. It is absolutely not worth it.

There is a good atmosphere, especially to have a drink afterwards! The service was nothing. I had to wipe up a spilled glass of water myself and my colleague's wet laptop was also no problem, too bad, but of course this is a snapshot!

I saw that I had left a rave review 5 years ago, but nowadays that number of stars is no longer appropriate in my opinion. The food has become a lot more expensive, but the quality and especially the quantity has dropped drastically. Also, the service was really ridiculously slow, we had to remind the staff several times that we had not received our beers yet and that NO ONE from the drinks party had anything left to drink. In addition, there was Dutch music playing all evening again... If I want a disappointing evening with bad music and mediocre service, I would rather go to Rembrandtplein.

The food here has really deteriorated enormously. The terrace is great, but you don't have to order a snack there. 8.50 for 6 pathetic pieces of cauliflower from the fryer... also REALLY not edible. This dish really needs to be taken off the menu immediately.

We had made a reservation here for a dinner together to say goodbye to a colleague. Our colleague who gave a farewell speech was interrupted by service to give drinks. This could take more account of what was happening. Despite our reservation, we were seated at a high table with stools without backrests for dinner. This was not exactly comfortable and could have been done differently. When serving dinner, there was a servant who made a snide remark when there was no immediate response to the question of whose meal it was. The sneer was really rude and unprofessional. Other employees also followed the same behavior and were not helpful or professional. There was only one employee who got out of bed on the right foot that day. In addition, there was 1 roll of toilet paper for the ladies toilets and there was no hand soap available to wash your hands with. Service also dropped a tray full of drinks on the floor near us. Cleaning this up was really effortless. The floor remained wet even when we left again an hour and a half later. You won't see me here again and I strongly advise those around me against it. Better spend your money at another business in the area!

Cozy place near the Amstel (and the station), a 20's-30's vibe, it's cozy and the service is friendly. It is more difficult to get attention from the staff.

Very nicely located cafe near the Amstel station. We had a few beers. We quickly found a place outside in the sun. If the drinks had come faster, we would probably have drunk more beer. Still highly recommended.

A few years ago you could have a nice drink here, so I went here for lunch with a friend. Despite an almost empty place and enough staff, it took a while before we could order our lunch from an uninspiring menu. The pumpkin soup (soup of the day or something like that) unexpectedly came with bacon, which should have been mentioned. After our lunch was served, we were never looked after. A shame, because we would have ordered a coffee if we had taken the trouble to pick up our empty (except for the bacon) plates. It's a real shame because Café Vrijdag is in a nice and convenient location.

Strange place if I may be completely honest. It was mainly due to someone grumpy, “Finn” or something. A guy behind the bar who wasn't super sharp himself but was constantly bashing his own colleagues. When we sat quietly at a table having a drink, it seemed like any normal pub. Then the bartender's family came in and those people were literally plopped down next to us, but okay. Judging by his family, the figure behind the bar was not a member at all but merely a prolete. The worst is yet to come

I love the cocktails and vibe of the place, I came here for my birthday last year and come here frequently, but I really think a QR code scan to order system needs to be set up! It seems understaffed as last night (Wednesday night, not too busy) it took 40 mins to get one drink, its table service but usually I give up on waiting and walk to the bar myself, a QR code system might help here :)

Nice bar in Amsterdam, serves good IPA

There are probably not many alternatives around. Quite noisy when it gets a bit busier. The quality of the food (after several visits) is 'okay' but nothing special. During my last visit (December 2024) with a group of about 40 people, the space was far too tight to even move your chair to go to the toilet (also too little capacity).

Waitress Julia was very friendly and fast. Food was great

Have been here dozens of times but unfortunately getting worse and worse. It says it is open till midnight on weekdays but at 22:30 they’ve “closed the register and are preparing to go home”. You can’t order anymore and are kicked out. What happened to hospitality? Is this company policy or is the staff just lazy? I don’t think it is strange to expect to be served until closing time. Otherwise change your hours and I won’t come through the rain just to drink a glass of disappointment!

The burger with fries was good. It just took a long time to receive it. There aren’t many waiters and you really have to get their attention. The price is a bit on the higher side.

Although it is a beautiful location, the attendant was unfriendly and did not want to serve us coffee and cake around lunchtime, even though there was enough room.

Lovely local bar with decent food and good service.

Tonight we had dinner with 2 foreign guests at Vrijdag, vegan, vegetarian, stew. Beautiful dishes prepared with care and very tasty, excellent service. We enjoyed your stay, thank you for giving us a nice evening. The dog was welcome and was immediately offered water.

We ate here because it was close to Amstel station. But the food was not that tasty and there was hardly any place to sit. not to be repeated

Unfortunately we had a very disappointing evening. We asked in advance if we could watch the semi-final of the European Championship (NL-EN) in a decent way. That was no problem, there was even a bit of laughter about the question. Just before the match they also asked if they could still tune the 3 screens properly, as there was a delay and no sound; That was no problem either. But ultimately just don't do that. Unfortunately I have to say that they really didn't get it right and didn't put much effort into solving it. After much annoyance, like many others, we left quietly. Unfortunately, the beef stew also had very little meat and was practically a soup.

One of the many cafés in Amsterdam. We had some beer, aperol spritz and wine so all kinds of drinks and of course some snacks. All was pretty common. But we had to wait long, different waitresses (poor and only English) and the order wasn’t right. So a shortage of staff maybe. The place is ok and near the Amstel river. We wanted to sit outside but both wind as lack of seats made us to go inside. For me that was - for then - the better choice but in general a good café but nothing special or something that was outstanding

Was very good. Great wine selection. The first service person was a bit careless. The second colleague was super friendly and tried very hard. In general, the service still has great potential for improvement. Why are only water glasses and the water bottle placed there and not poured for the guest? Wine glasses come to the table without being polished and still have drops of water on the glasses. There has to be that much time if you have corresponding prices on the menu.

Once again a delicious meal. This time it was lunch, but as usual there was a lot of fun and delicious food.

Except for the car gases on the outside terrace, which shortened my life by 5 years, it is still a top tent and top service.👍

Cozy and great. Especially the sandwiches were great there! And they also know how to make a great cocktail! So both great for lunch and great for an after work drink. The big windows give a great view of the surrounding area and the hundreds of people on bicycle coming by. Will go there again!

Just had some beers. Lovely weather, a Thursday afternoon in Amsterdam. Colleague and I felt like having a drink. Normally it's a huge hassle to park your car and get a spot in the sun. Well not here. Place in front of the door. Large terrace, lots of space. And a large selection of beer. 🍺. Successful for us.

What an incredible location with an exceptionally welcoming staff! My wife and I first met seven years ago at Cafe Vrijdag, and just yesterday, I proposed to her at this very bar. As we celebrated, the staff surprised us with a complimentary bottle of champagne, making the experience truly unforgettable. Many thanks!

Bumped by mere chance into this local place on my way to Amstel Station. Nice cappuccino and a huge and delicious apple tart. The gentleman who greeted me at the door was kind and smiling, the young lady who took my order absolutely lovely. A positive experience. Recommended.

Airy good looking cafe. Very pleasant servers. Had an extremely weird version of a Dutch classic uitsmijter which had been grilled so the "spiegeleieren" were solid all the way through. Not good but haven't tried anything else there. Probably would have been better if chef kok actually knew what an uitsmijter is supposed to be. The ingredients were fine but don't grill it!

A really cozy, warm and nice restaurant/café! The service is very friendly, the dishes are always tasty and the prices are also good. You can have a nice meal here, but you can also enjoy a cup of coffee. This tent never disappoints me!

Staff was nice, bathrooms clean, bitterballen perfect.

Very cozy, neat and informal place to get together with friends or a date and, as now, quietly enjoy the excellent Caesar salad with drinks for lunch. The salad was perfect with the meat lukewarm and crispy, perfect! The service is friendly and in the background, the music not too loud and the crowds are medium, i.e. not crowded but not too empty either. An address to remember!

Attractive, no-nonsense place with excellent food and very friendly service.

We had a pleasant evening. We could sit by the window wherever we wanted. Food was tasty. Salad as a side dish rather small. Furthermore, some things went wrong and there was no appropriate response or compensation, which was a shame. I don't think staff really learn how to respond to feedback. They were all friendly but did not come up with a solution. We ordered 2 soup. Got one. Then came second soup with main course. It wasn't such a disaster and we were asked if it was okay. Then fish dish of which 8 mussels, 2 of which opened. Said this twice when asked if everything was satisfactory. It can happen, but it is simple to compensate something, just take a cup of tea from the shop or take that dish off the bill. We had a nice evening with friendly service, but we were not completely satisfied with the somewhat confusing evening.

Very nice place, definitely a go-to place for relaxing cup of coffee... one thing I didn't like about the service is that they came really quickly to check if we finished our coffee! I mean it's a café, you don't drink coffee as a duty and finish ASAP. Otherwise they were nice and lovely.

Delicious dinner again tonight. Rosa served me with a smile from ear to ear. Such girls in the catering industry know and understand what service is. This friendliness and pure smile really make you feel welcome. I immediately forgot that I had just had a horrible one😂 Thank you Rosa, for the good service and the delicious food. 👏🏻

Super Service. As a tourist, I just came here to borrow a charger. The waitress showed me where the chargers were. And she said she could charge my phone for free. It was so kind and generous of her. Ich really appreciated her help. And the coffee was also excellent. Hope to come here again!

Decent place for a bite. Nothing special, but you won’t be disappointed. Food is properly made and season very well. Staff is friendly but again nothing crazy happening here. If you want a steady dinner for a fair price at a cozy location. This is it.

Best een leuke tent maar met de entree zo geplaatst dat telkens als de deuren open gaan er een tocht ( en kou) rond gaan. In najaar een winter niet fijn. Eten was prima, bediening aardig maar ze leken wel een beetje op de autopilot te gaan.

Hamburger matig. Nogal vet. WC geen papier. Personeel onpersoonlijk.

Sfeervolle locatie. Behulpzaam personeel.

Great place to have friday beers or weekday lunch. If you are hungry go for the pancakes its quite nice. Theu have good vegetarian options too.

Had a warm soup here when it was terrible weather outside. Was super gezellig😍 Interior is very cosy, soup was very tasty and came with a warm bread. Will definitely be back here. Service was also friendly!
