Avoid This Place at All Costs – A Complete Scam! I wish I could give this restaurant zero stars. This was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience I've ever had, and it felt like walking into a tourist trap designed to bleed you dry. Let me break down the fraudulent practices they pull: 1. False Advertising: A sign outside boldly states “€16 the platter,” but once you get the bill, they magically charge you €22 per platter without any explanation. 2. Bread Scam: They bring bread to the table without asking, giving you the impression it’s complimentary. Guess what? It’s not. They charged us double for 4 tiny pieces of bread that weren’t even worth €1. 3. Ridiculous Water Prices: The only water available is priced at €10 per bottle. No other options. 4. Sauce Scam: The waiter casually asks which sauce you’d like for your platter, giving no indication it costs extra. Surprise! They charged us €10 per sauce, making the meal obscenely overpriced. The dishonesty and deception here are outrageous. The food wasn’t even good enough to justify a fraction of the cost. This place exists solely to exploit unsuspecting customers with hidden charges and shady practices. Do yourself a favor – DO NOT EAT HERE. Share this review to warn others and help shut down this scam operation.

You don't get much fries. Pay separately for mayonnaise and a very small restaurant.. Up two narrow stairs for the toilet.phew The door kept opening, very cold at your dining table. (They keep approaching people outside to come and eat.) On the website of the restaurant gift voucher you would could pay here with a gift voucher, but of course they had not heard anything about that and the bill was also incorrect, so check carefully!

We had the mixed grill between myself and my partner. With three different steaks, we had a bit too much fat on the sirloin steak and the staff were more than happy to replace it for us! Lovely quiet restaurant. :)

As a Turk, I came to the Ajax Beşiktaş match. I was looking for a place that would suit our taste. The prices are very reasonable, the atmosphere is quiet, and most importantly, I wish you continued success. Decent steak at midnight, what’s not to love? Arrived late into Amsterdam and didn’t fancy the late night kebabs, fries and waffles the city usually offers after dark. So was delighted to have a nice steak, grilled tomatoes, grilled mushrooms and a beer here after midnight. Not going to pretend it’s the world’s best steak, but it was good enough. Plus friendly service and very decent pricing. Lots of reviews mention that the sides are extra. They are, but never been to a steak place where they’re not. €9 for two sides seemed reasonable to me. All in all, happy with my meal.

On the outside, they have a poster saying the burger is for 8 euros, and I got the bill for 22 euros. Be careful of these deceitful actions. The burger itself wasn't good or worth 22 euros at all. Avoid it; it is a ripoff and a scam.

Hands down one pf the best eateries in Amsterdam. We were simply walking around the streets of Amsterdam when this place caught our eye. It’s a very cozy and calm restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam. The lady that greeted us was superbly friendly and warm. When we went to sit down, we were talking with the lady left and right. Then, a man came and I had an Argentina jersey on so he silently chanted Ronaldo! Ronaldo! It’s stuff like this that really makes a restaurant special. Also, the food is amazing from the fries to the calamari to the steak, and the empanadas. They cook their meat to perfection and it shows. Finally, desert is amazing and the prices were reasonable for the portion of food we ordered

I randomly picked La Stego from a variety of steakhouses in the area and I am so glad that I did! My son and I had stuffed jalapeños and calamari for starters and we both had T-bone steaks for mains. I had jacket potato and mushrooms on the side whilst my son had fries. An absolutely amazing meal. The staff were extremely attentive and were friendly and polite. I would not hesitate in going back next time I’m in Amsterdam.

The (presumably) owner, was sitting at a table the whole time staring at the customers (we felt creeped out by him ), watching the door like a guard dog and being unpolite to tourists from the next restaurant when they sat at the table next to his door. The waitress was very nice and polite, but I went with my 84-grandmother and we did ask her at the beginning if there was a bathroom, as my grandmother suffers from some stomach issues. She said yes, but did not think to mention that it was on the 3rd (European 2nd) floor, the stairs were really narrow and high. We found out when my grandma had an emergency and had to struggle to get to the bathroom. This should have been mentioned from the beginning, as we did take the time to ask and explain the issue! The food was ok, a bit flavorless as they do not use much salt but you can put it afterwards on the table. The argentinian steak was very soft. However, we did feel hurried as they took my plate before my grandma was finished and tried to take her when she was still not finished. The restaurant was pretty empty inside (where we sat) but we still felt unwelcomed to stay longer (although we did ask at the beginning, when explaining the bathroom issues, that we might have to stay a bit longer for her to be sure that the risk is over). They did charge my phone when I asked if it was possible, which was nice. When receiving the bill, the prices on the menu were not the real prices, as they did not include taxes. This is VERY uncommon in most European countries (including the Netherlands) and considered a scam by many. They did not informed us about this before entering and, if they wrote it on the menu (which I doubt), it did not stand out. They also printed on the bill in big red letters "SERVICE NOT INCLUDED", as if this was the USA.

it's a pure tourist trap, the price is way too expensive for what you get and it's not even tasty. Coke was from a glass so I don't know if it was real coke, it didn't taste like it. They also just pull the plates away so you don't stay long. We spent 175 euros for 6 people McDonald's is better DON'T GO DONT GO

Avoid eating in this restaurant, the quality of the meat is good but given that all the accompaniments are extra and the portions are tiny for the price you end up with a very high bill. Fake amaretto and priced at €12 for 3cl, unheard of. In short, I advise against it!

We were there with eight people. The food and the vegetables (especially the tomatoes) were not fresh at all and tasted like vegetables that had already been here for a few days... In addition, the wrong food was brought and a Fanta was forgotten. Otherwise the location here is very nice.

I went a few days ago with my husband and they treated us poorly, the meat arrived cold, the glasses were dirty and it took them more than 40 minutes to serve us. When we complained to the owner he told us that if we didn't like it we could leave. Without a doubt I will never return, on top of that they had dirty bathrooms

Very disappointed, ordered a schnitzel take away which they advertise outside of the restaurant. I obviously only opened the box at home and it was a half a portion of fries with a quarter of chicken schnitzel. Literally a rip off they would have never served this if I eat there….

Starter: -The guacamole for the nachos is not homemade, had no taste at all. - The tuna in the salade is dry as hell. Meal: - The steaks had not flavour, you better had some salt by yourself. - 4,30€ for frozen french fries… I know restaurant are expensive in Amsterdam but at least serve some quality. That’s a tourist scam. And don’t believe the prices outside those are for small portions without side. And the service is not included. 80€ for this is a nice scam well done.

Pretty decent restaurant. The steak was pretty good, and the schnitzel was okay. Enpanada was delicious, fries were crispy too. The staff was really friendly, and the atmosphere was cosy. The only downside was, I would expected that the sauces would be included in the price for steak and schnitzel, but nope. Not a huge deal, but a bit weird and unexpected I must say. Recommended.
