Five Brothers Fat Zuid in Museumkwartier

Upon arrival I was kindly shown to my table. However, after waiting for 20 minutes I still had not received a menu or drinks menu, so I decided to get one myself. Before eating I finally looked up the menu on your website. Fortunately, after several attempts I managed to speak to someone and place an order. The food was served quickly and was delicious, but the drinks only arrived after eating. When I asked for a glass of water, unfortunately it never arrived. In the end I walked to the bar myself for the second time to get it. In summary: the food is fantastic and served quickly, but the service is not very attentive and seems understaffed. The seat was a high bar table at the top of the stairs, which was not very comfortable on the bar stools. Finally, there was an error when paying, because there were items on the bill that I had not ordered. Fortunately, this was corrected quickly.

Had a great evening in this super cozy place! Price-quality one of the better in Amsterdam with well-prepared dishes! We will definitely come back

Mesa reservada para 2 llegó allí a las 9 pm y tuvo que compartir mesa con otro cliente, no realmente y problema ya que era el día de San Valentín y estaba ocupado. Esperó 45 minutos para tomar una copa y no consiguió vasos y pidió dos veces lo mismo. El personal fue inundado y se disculpó. La comida es buena, el servicio era muy lento y cuando pedimos un pinot noir nos dieron un Merlot. Solo una parte eficiente de la experiencia fue recibir la factura. Los gerentes / cinco hermanos necesitan dar un paso adelante y mejorar la experiencia.

Erg lekkere tapas, zowel de wat gebruikelijkere als die met wat meer eigen signatuur, overzichtelijke wijnkaart met een mooi assortiment cava’s. Rond half tien gaat de muziek harder en wordt het langzaam meer een soort van relaxte cocktailbar/bruine kroeg. Dus niet de plek voor een avondvullend serieus gesprek maar wel voor een ontspannen avondje. (En in alle gezelligheid vergeten foto’s te maken)

The food is overpriced for the quality and taste. While the concept is good, the menu could definitely use an update. On weekends, it gets extremely crowded and feels more like a student bar than a restaurant.

I used to like coming here, but the music that was way too loud (we put in our earphones to protect our ears) made us leave immediately after one drink. Shame!

Might as well go sit in a frathouse. Music is much too loud. People are outside shouting at eachother. Based on the description, i thoght Id come to have a quiet evening with some cocktails and some tapas. If i had known it was a stdent bar iI whould have gone somewhere else. Overall a big let-down. for these prices there are much better places to go. The food wasnt too bad considering how the place is run.

YES! Nice place to have a drink on Thurs-Fri-Sat evenings. The atmosphere slowly changes from food to drinks. It won't be wild. Overall great tasty tapas for a good price. Only downside; the chairs are really just too upright. Changing positions every 5 minutes is recommended.

What do you get when you leave the service and management in the hands of students? They try their best, but have no professional approach and end up turning the restaurant into a club while you are trying to eat and have a proper conversation. The evening started well, with a nice playlist in the background. The atmosphere was relaxed and I could enjoy drinks and food. However at some point the waiter, who was in charge of the Spotify list, put the volume up and there was no way back to a relaxed diner experience. I had to shout to my friend and got really tired from the noise. We asked a couple of times to get the volume down without much success. Good place to go out if you are a student and want loud music. I like clubs and loud music, but not during my meals. Definitely not going back.

Voor het eerst hier gegeten. Gezellig sfeer, beknopte maar heerlijke kaart. Complimenten voor de 2 jongemannen in de bediening op zaterdag 28 september. Beredruk in de tent en toch zeer snel serveren en bedienen. Ongekend vriendelijk ook. Complimenten.

This place has so much potential.. but it wants to be the hit place for high schoolers and college kids. The food is delicious, really good Spanish tapas but, music is extremely loud, although we ordered sangria we cancelled it after 25 min of waiting as it was not arriving, we kindly asked if it was possible to lower down the music a bit and they said yes, 5 min later the music was louder than ever. It is impossible to have dinner and conversation. The place is PACKED with people just having one drinks for 3 hours… I am so sad that a place with such good food, has such poor execution. I really hope the owners get it together. We came for an after work dinner not for a bar. Our bill was around 200euro and we got such poor impression.. the food was the only savior.

La comida era excelente. El servidor era muy servicial y amable. Disfrutamos especialmente de la lubina con una salsa absolutamente deliciosa. Las costillas estaban tan sabrosas y lamento no haber pedido una segunda porción. Cuando volvamos a Amsterdam, sin duda volveremos a visitar. Gracias por una gran noche.

Came here with my girlfriend, food is very good, creative taste. Steak was good and croquetas were spectacular. Influence of Spanish cuisine, but foreign chefs. Emma was waitress tonight, very nice and helped us order. Chefs were also extremely nice. Good vibes and bar as well as outdoor area. Highly recommend whether you are a tourist or you are living in Amsterdam.

We visited in May ‘24. Wonderful meal and service. Charcuterie, cheese, steak, sole, salad, Carpaccio, dessert, wine.all perfect.

Delicious food, cozy place and pleasant atmosphere. The boys in the service are only allowed to pay more attention to the guests than to themselves and each other. The food is delicious, different tapas. Good calamari and charcuterie. The steak (no photo unfortunately) was tasty. The fries and patatas bravas were all delicious too. The portions are good too. They have excellent cava. The sangria contained too much white vermouth for my taste, but the rest of the group liked it. Would definitely come back here for the food. Please keep in mind that it may take a while before you get the attention of the staff.

Great place for some good wine or cava and delicious tapas. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. The small, selective menu highlights the quality of produce and guarantees consistency.

We were recommended this restaurants by a local friend, and it did not disappoint. One of the best food experiences I’ve ever had. The highlight of the visit was definitely the sea bass and the entrecôte, in addition to the warm and welcoming staff. This is a place where you feel that time just flies by.

Good Spanish food in a nice atmosphere

The ambiance of this place is nice and buzzing but the food and prices are a scam!!! We took the shared dining experience for 11 people, these food portions were so little for so many people, it was after 8PM, straight from work and we were hungry. Every dish was served on 4 little plates and we had 1 to 2 pieces per person. I had two tiny slices of steak, similar smoked salmon, two slices of bread with ansjovis butter, one piece of Manchego, 4 green olives, 1 slice of tomato bruschetta, 1 slice of salami, 1 slice of ham, 1 very dry meatless baby spare rib, 6 little potato chunks, 1/3 of a slice of grilled eggplant and 2 smoked green peppers. That’s it, for almost EUR 40 per person. I’m a foodie and not scared for paying big bucks for good food in Amsterdam but this was a rip off, complete scam, I’m never returning!!

It is so cozy, hip and atmospheric here. Nice people who are helpful and professional. Delicious food with class, something for everyone.

One of my go to spots for when friends from out of town are visiting or for catching up with friends that live in the city. Food is good and fun, recommend the pane tomate, short ribs, and croquettes. Drinks are also good and vibe is cool. Recommend.

De sfeer is super, je zit er gezellig. Het eten is goed, alle gerechten zagen er goed uit en de smaken waren lekker. Wij hebben ons wel verbaasd over de bediening. Maken geen contact met de gasten en je moet ze zelf aanspreken om wat te bestellen. Als je dan besteld hebt komt het eten eerder dan de drank. Toen de drank kwam werden de glazen en de fles op tafel gezet en hierna werd de wijn in de glazen gegooid waardoor er wijn op tafel lag. De borden worden op tafel gesmeten en de volle borden worden op de lege gezet op tafel. We hebben er een beetje om gelachen, maar vonden het wel apart. Er komt geen lachje van de bediening af, ze lopen erbij alsof je ze komt vervelen en er geen zin in hebben. Jammer wat het is een leuke tent.

Ridiculous prices… octopus (5 tiny pieces) 16 euros! A plate of leak with half a leak chopped in 5 pieces, 10 euros!! 🤣🤣 We thought it’s a joke…! Embarrassing for them…

Made a last minute reservation for five people and were shown the best spot upon arrival. Full house, food was fine and sufficient. We were even offered a free extra glass of wine per person when our waiter had taken one of the dishes we ordered for another table and was therefore put on the table by another person from the service.

We had drinks on a rainy Tuesday night. Lively atmosphere, helpful wait staff. Steep steps to restroom. Amsterdam is a city of steep steps.🙂

If they offer you water besides your beer, that's 7 euros. Would be nice if they mentioned that or gave the option for tap. Otherwise, nice location, cozy interior.

Vreselijk koud, deur stond open en verwarming uit.

Ruim 6 weken van te voren gereserveerd. Bij binnenkomst kregen we een klein tafeltje met kruk voor 4 personen terwijl we voor 5 gereserveerd hadden. Er werd een ander krukje in het gangpad bijgeplaatst. Na commentaar wel een betere plek gekregen, maar moesten wel een half uur eerder vertrekken dan de oorspronkelijke gereserveerde tijd. Ook hiervoor hebben we van te voren op gebeld met de vraag of we langer konden blijven. Hierop werd positief gereageerd. Dit bleek uiteindelijk niet het geval. In 1,5 uur tijd konden we eten en nog zonder het dessert werd de rekening op tafel gelegd met het verzoek te betalen en het restaurant te verlaten. Zeer onbeschoft en er kon geen lachje bij de bediening vanaf. Het eten is prima, maar niet bijzonder. In korte tijd zoveel geld uit te geven aan eten en drankjes zonder de gastvrijheid te ervaren voelen we ons toch een beetje kaalgeplukt door de Amsterdamse horeca.

We waren eerder al in Haarlem, top ervaring. Hier was het helaas niet echt positief. De bediening had meer aandacht voor vrienden en bekenden. Het was druk, maar er zijn toch behoorlijk wat bestelling niet goed gegaan (ze waren onze cava vergeten in het systeem te zetten). Het eten was oké, de hamburgers waren helaas koud. Allemaal gewoon niet echt bijzonder. Ten slotte nog iets over het reserveren, je moet bij het reserveren een aanbetaling doen (ze waren deze vergeten te berekenen), dat is prima, maar als je dan in eerste instantie de slechtste plek krijgt is het toch wel erg jammer. Op verzoek zijn we verhuisd... Maar ja... Allemaal niet heel erg een avond uit beleving. Jammer. Volgende keer maar weer naar Haarlem.

Eten was heerlijk. Moesten helaas wel elke keer zelf iemand aanspreken om te bestellen. Bediening was totaal niet assertief en erg ongeïnteresseerd.

Phenomenal food. The portions are indeed small, but if you order sveral items to share you’ll get the most of it.

Good food, friendly staff, just not fully on point.

The food was good but the service was absolutely terrible. One of the servers put a plate of food wrongly at the edge of table which caused it to fall seconds after he left. The plate fell and broke next to our dog that was next to the table. The waiter saw everything and didn’t help us at all, we had to pick up the food from the floor and all the pieces of ceramics so our dog wouldn’t get hurt. Besides not caring and not helping us when the mistake was obviously his, we still had to ask him twice for napkins so we could clean. While he thought we didn’t understand Dutch, he started complaining to his colleague about us, right next to our table. At the end, they made us pay for the food that fell. Extremely rude waiter. One of his colleagues, however, was kind and gave us water for our dog. But the service from the main waiter was so bad we are never going there again.

The place is located in front of the canals in Amsterdam with a great view towards it. The food must say, it was very good and tasty. However, some of the portions I found overpriced and small. We ordered two tuna tartare and one of them was placed on top of my phone (in the corner of the table) and it fell. After it fell, the waiter asked if it was his fault (which how can it be not after placing a plate on top of my phone) and didn’t do anything about it. After the food was in the floor with the broken glass, they never came to pick it up. They didn’t even offer us something to clean the floor where my small puppy of 3.5 months was sitting down in the floor and could’ve gotten hurt with the plate. The guy also charged us for the plate that fell in the floor and had a impolite attitude (and was his fault) for the food which I found absurd. For such a place with clearly a lot of potential, I left with a sad experience. I must say that his colleague, the other guy, was very nice and he even offered water for my dog when we came in. I leave the one star of hood service for him.

A nice restaurant with a tapas concept. The main drink they have in the menu is bubbles. Food was delicious and the staff was friendly. They have different kind of cava and dry wine as well as a nice selection of beers. The atmosphere is also nice. If the weather allows, they have an outdoor tables as well.

L’endroit est très sympa, la nourriture est très bonne mais peu généreuse et prix trop élevés. En revanche, attente interminable pour les tapas qui arrivent au compte-goutte. 2h d’attente pour 5 tapas, nous ressortons peu rassasiées.

I had super delicious food at your restaurant, so all credit to the cooks. However, in my opinion, friendly staff is the standard. This standard was not met at all. Several times they rolled their eyes at our questions or reacted irritated for no good reason. I don't quite understand where that came from and almost wanted to say something about it too, but I didn't feel like kicking up a scene while having a nice evening with my friends. I understand that you may want to exude a certain kind of chilliness, but I think it is inappropriate if this chilliness leads to unkindness/arrogance. Therefore, I would highly recommend that you guys do something about this, because when I discussed this with friends, my opinion was massively echoed.

The chef must be a genius. Every dish that we ordered was superbly made. Let me tell you about the cozy atmosphere and perfect choice of music. Last but not least the amazing warm service from Timo and Jaris. Can't wait to visit this place again.

Amazing atmosphere and very busy with a vibrant young crowd. The dishes will vary from old pictures as they change the menu frequently. The quality is amazing and we tried many dishes. Special thanks to our hosts Timo and Jaris.

Heerlijk gegeten en gedronken, kan niet ontkennen dat ik niet met de hoogste verwachting naar binnen liep maar we waren oprecht blij verrast door de hoge kwaliteit van de gerechten en de heerlijke cava’s!

Excellent restaurant de tapas, excentré du centre d'Amsterdam ! Les cocktails sont très bons et la cuisine raffinée ! Attention par contre à bien vous faire préciser les prix des boissons !

We waren bij five brothers zuid. Jong knap publiek als ook de bediening bestaande uit echte hunks. Interieur is gezellig . Service prima. Happen ook. Ideale plek om naar toe te gaan voor jongen lui / studenten.

Heb heerlijk met vriendinnen kunnen genieten van zeer goede tapas en cocktails. De service was erg goed en het personeel was zeer behulpzaam. Een echte aanrader! Ik zal in ieder geval binnekort nog een keer terug komen.
