Cafetaria Elif in Wijk 05 Nijmegen-Midden

It was my first time at Cafetaria Elif, and coincidentally, it had just been taken over by a new owner. Yousef is incredibly hospitable and friendly. The kapsalon was also delicious! Highly recommended.

Last week, during a work visit to Nijmegen, my colleague and I popped into Cafetaria Elif. We arrived just as the restaurant was opening, yet we were immediately greeted with friendly and attentive service. A nice touch: we turned out to be their very first customers under the new owners, Yousef and Mieke. They are incredibly friendly, genuine, and kind people; we immediately had a nice chat. We were also struck by how clean everything is: a spotless counter, hygienic menus, and a well-maintained kitchen. Our food was fresh and flavorful, with crispy fries, a fresh salad, and perfectly balanced sauces. The service was genuinely attentive, there was no wait, and the price-quality ratio was excellent. In short: a promising start for the new owners. I wish them the best of luck, and I highly recommend Elif. See you soon, Youssef and Mieke :-)

This afternoon, during a working visit to Nijmegen, I stumbled upon Elif. It turned out that Yousef and Mieke were the new owners, and we were their very first customers. We enjoyed the shawarma dish. Nicely seasoned, with a good sauce, delicious fries, and a fresh salad. Yousef and Mieke were very enthusiastic, hospitable, and friendly. I wish them continued success, which will undoubtedly be the case if they continue to welcome guests and prepare their food this way.

*There are now new owners.* I ordered online. I arrived early, and they prepared the food promptly. While waiting, I was able to chat with the new owners. I found them very friendly and received excellent service. It also looked clean, and the kapsalon was nice.

I’ve never been treated with such disrespect in a place that calls itself a cafeteria. I called to ask a simple question, and the person on the phone acted like I was a nuisance — rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. If this is how they handle customers over the phone, I can only imagine what it’s like in person. Basic manners and customer service seem to be foreign concepts here. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere that actually values its customers.

I had a lahmacun kapsalon and a chicken pita. The lahmacun was tasty, but the pita didn't come with pickles, even though I paid extra for them.

Ordered food online. After waiting for two hours, I tried to contact them. It didn't work. It later turned out the cafeteria was actually closed. Please make sure you can't order online when the restaurant is closed. Hopefully, I'll get my money back as soon as possible. Update two weeks later: I called them. The money was supposed to be refunded within five business days. I never received the refund. This is the last time we'll order from them.

Still nothing received three hours after ordering, and they're also unreachable. Normally, I never have any problems, but this is taking things a step too far. The food is usually good and of good quality, but I won't order from them again. At least answer your phone and explain that you can't make it, but don't treat them this way. Small update: the store suddenly closed out of nowhere and remains unreachable. Never received the food. I think I can kiss my money goodbye.

I ordered here 2 days ago but my order never arrived. Since then my emails and calls have been ignored and I still haven't received my money back. Outrageous, if you can't handle the workload then you have to do something about it. The week before there was nothing wrong with my order and delivery.

Delivery was fast, but the 'hot chicken fries with curry sauce' does not come with curry sauce and you get 10 fries with a container of chicken. Delivery was fast, but the food was not great.

Food was supposed to be there in 30 minutes according to Thuisbezorgd, but we've been waiting here for over 2 hours now. I almost had to put a birthday cake on the table before my food. If you're hungry, I recommend just nibbling on a tree - it's faster. As if that wasn't bad enough, we also got a big mouth from the 'delivery person' or whoever it was - guests are rude and antisocial. No apologies, no explanation, just rude behavior as if we were a nuisance because we expect to get their work. Eventually canceled food. Might as well have eaten a shoe sole, would have been faster and friendlier.

Cancel an order immediately if you can't make it, instead of having to wait an hour and suddenly getting a message that your order has been canceled.

Food was cold and the burger was inedible, cold, limp, the place didn't look good either, don't understand how it's still open, the owner was nice, that was the only good thing about this story, not recommended.

Ordered 2 hair salons. Never had it this bad before. The fries seemed to have been fried several times. Looked dark and glassy and was rock hard. The shawarma smelled and was burnt. The döner from the other hair salon is the same. Also lukewarm. We both took 3 snacks and then threw everything in the bin. Really dirty. Never order here again!

The food was really bad, the fries taste strange. The chicken corn was burnt, the kapsalon was super bad, everything was drowning in the sauce, and these fries were also unedible. The big mac wrap was very tasty according to our son. All in all, no, never again.

On Thursday I went to this place for hairdressing with four people. It was also several hair salons and now three out of four people have food poisoning. I'll never go to this place again.

Nice place, great terrace, nice employee, but those are the only positive things I can mention. Ate here before going to a festival. I think prices were also raised for that day because fries with sauce for almost €5 and dürüm roll for €8.50 is not really normal. Furthermore, there was hardly any meat in the roll and the taste was not good either. No, we are much more used to our neighborhood!

The 20% discount code for cash payment is promised but is not applied. Dietary wishes are simply not taken into account. You ask if things can be removed from a dish, but they don't do anything with it. The delivery person will not receive any change, even though you indicate this. I was used to better from this tent, but it is really bad nowadays. Moreover, the food is not tasty at all.

Ordered 2 Kapsalons and fries at 12 noon, later I received a call that they are only open from 4 o'clock and that the money would be refunded. It is now 3 weeks later and the money has not yet been refunded. When I call back I get the voicemail.

Ordered Lahmacun with doner and super fries. Fries were tough, frikandel was overcooked. The lahmacun was not included, I was given a durum doner. There was also far too little doner in it. Was almost only wrap with garlic sauce. My bowl of sambal was also not included. Very bad.

Excuse me, this is the place where Turks mention Turks. 2 beers and 1 water was 15 euros. I don't know if the Rammstein concert had any impact.

Very nice neat people. Super friendly but the food really tasted like nothing. I understand that after a concert you think you can make a profit by having drunk people come your way, but this really didn't make any sense. 3 euros for cold hamburger, hot dog and meatball sandwiches. The freshest of the 3 were the hot dogs and they were also nice and cold. No lettuce, etc. for the rest of the burgers. This was all prepared and served outside in a small party tent. You paid 1 euro for the toilet at one of the terraced houses next to the cafe. It is also quite sad that everyone who was along was extremely sick and nauseated the next day. I think the total number of shit houses was 3 before 12:00 this morning. By the way, we woke up at 10:10, it's now 7:00 PM and I'm sitting again. Hopefully they will fix this because HRT is really not the best. Otherwise a great place, nice beer.

The hair salon was really great! The neighborhood is a little less inviting, but if you have to go to a performance in the Goffert Park, then this cafeteria is highly recommended.

Has a lot of great offerings too, usually wednesdays. He comes up with new ideas a lot too. Sadly the cafeteria is a little outside of town. If you order a hairdresser, it is also nice if it contains more than 2 pieces of doner and that for 12 euros is not recommended

Delivered super quickly. Was delicious. Hair salon was great. The snacks top curly fries are deliciously crispy.

This was unbelievable. Fries were soggy, picanto had the same structure and taste as a stiff leather cloth and bitterballen were crushed. We ordered 45 minutes before pick up but he only started making the food when we arrived. We won't come here again. Nice music inside, +1 for atmosphere.

The food was super tasty! Service was good too. The owner is very nice! The vegetables were very fresh and the chicken was nice and tender. The place is also clean and everything looks neat.

Wow, this wasn't so good... Yesterday I had a night off so I didn't feel like cooking, I had ordered 3 large hair salons... First the owner called me that the delivery person had experienced an accident (he had fallen off a bridge while he was delivering.) Then he sent another delivery person, which took 3.5 hours. Finally able to eat after waiting for so long. the fries were wet and the sauce was very sticky and didn't look like sauce... 3 large kapsalons were a bit small and still very full after those three.

I would have preferred to do this via email, but unfortunately you don't have that. Unfortunately, quality has deteriorated considerably. There has always been a problem with at least the last 5 orders. Food often cold after a very long delivery time, quality of food/fries very variable. Wrong products delivered (now fries mayo instead of a special) or things that are missing. Too bad, it used to be very good. After 2 months I have yet to get my money back.

I never had any bad experiences and if something happened it was resolved very well, and the food was also excellent. Ordered today at 8:15 PM and no one showed up, nothing has been heard from them after automatic order confirmation, they are unreachable via telephone number and I have still not received any food by half past eleven and I will have to assume that I won't get this anymore. Hopefully I will receive my money back soon, but this was handled unacceptably poorly

Paid 19.50 for Feta World hair salon and a Fanta Exotic including delivery costs. For that price my expectations are high. These have not been fulfilled. - Delivery time was too long (1 hour and 15 minutes - ordered at 10 past 7); - Fanta not included; - Fanta has not been delivered. Upon delivery I immediately reported that the Fanta was missing. He solemnly promised that he would return. I didn't have to call for anything and he would take care of it; - An hour later, nothing. I called the company and they knew nothing about it. We also no longer delivered due to the time. I leave it open whether the kitchen did not prepare the can or whether the boy did not take it with him. Both point at each other. - I would receive an email with a solution. In the end I had to arrange it myself via Thuisbezorgd. Conclusion: Food that is too expensive in relation to the quality, poor delivery and delivery personnel and no correct handling of complaints. The same applies, you can get faster, better and friendlier help elsewhere! I should have listened to the reviews.

Just ordered lamb shawarma with some croquettes, after 1.5 hours they bring it, we open it, I don't know what it was but everything was thrown straight into the waste bin, damn it looked dirty and the croquettes were a bag of porridge become, brrrr

The delivery time was initially expected to be longer than 2 hours, and we could no longer cancel the order ourselves as they could not be reached on any number. Very sorry. Was once a good tent, but has deteriorated rapidly. With the last order they first questioned my discount code and then the feta from the feta hair salon was missing. The solution you get the difference back, or in other words no solution. Last time I order here. 2 out of 5 stars because it was once good.

Poor cafeteria and handling of issues. Ordered here once and it was very good. Once ordered the 2nd time, the order is accepted by the chip shop and payment is made. And shortly after it was supposed to be delivered, you will receive a message that the order has been canceled. After calling you are told that they could not deliver due to an accident but that they would not deliver it again. After asking whether the money will be refunded, they indicate that they should arrange this with home delivery. Same as the last time here.

Always super good food, but lately they apparently don't read the receipt. I love the hair salon fetaworld, ordered a while ago and received a feta world without feta! It could happen once and nothing was done about it at the time. Ordered a fetaworld again tonight, which now cost 11 euros instead of 8 euros, which was absolutely fine, but now I also had to pay an extra euro if I wanted feta with it (a bit strange for a fetaworld). Anyway, paying 12 euros for a hair salon was absolutely fine. . You'll never guess I get a fetaworld without feta! That's fine if you raise the prices, but make it happen!

Ordered and picked up here for the first time today, our family unanimously agreed that this was the tastiest kapsalon and pizza and fries we have ever had, you can really taste that the fries were also fried in fresh oil, the pizza sucuk deluxe was deliciouskk the kapsalon extreme chicken and tzaziki were really delicious, highly recommended, it was DELICIOUS, we will definitely come back 👍

I normally order here. But I've been there once. Sledgehammer chill people. I asked for the best vegetarian hair salon (in the opinion of the employee), so I took the noodles. Requested extra spicy and received more sambal than other items! Definitely recommended!!

Always had good food at cafeteria Elif. But recently things have been disappointing again and again and promises are being made that are not kept. The quality of the food has been fantastic, personally I think they had the tastiest hair salons in the Netherlands. Recently the quality has been getting worse and we cannot count on correct deliveries. Of course, I understand that things can go wrong when things are busy. But there seems to be a consistent problem with communication and planning. It should not happen that food arrives cold or that things are missing. Or that after indicating several times, an ingredient is added that someone is allergic to. I hope the owners and employees take their time to get their communication and planning back on track. I would like to become a regular customer at Cafetaria Elif again, just like before.

Ordered food on Friday a week and a half ago. After more than 2 hours, a call was received that there had been an internet outage and the food would be delivered within half an hour with a little extra. It then took another hour before the food was delivered (lukewarm but indeed an additional bowl of Baklava). Unfortunately, drinks were not included. After calling, the milkshake was brought (melted), but the can was not included. Called again, saying money would be refunded, but this was never done. Previously ordered from Elif it was good, but I think that when it gets busy they can't handle it, so you can't handle the quality. The cafeteria's response stated that I understood, which is correct in that the internet went out and therefore it took 2 hours before contact was made. But I do not understand that it then takes another hour instead of within the half hour that was promised by telephone and that the drinks are not delivered. I was also not told that it takes 14 days to refund. A pity.

Ordered yesterday from Elif. Done this before in the past and always fine, but not yesterday. The food was lukewarm and the döner was dry and even had burnt pieces. Furthermore, the ordered soft drink was not delivered. Still looking for a telephone number or email address, but these cannot be found on the site. This is not what we are used to from Elif. In the past we always received excellent, hot food and complete orders, but this was different.

Got a very good kalsalon for normal money and a lot of it.

Always enjoy ordering from Elif, wonderful hair salons! Unfortunately, prices have risen considerably, which means that the price is not in proportion to the quantity. Because of this we will choose a different cafeteria next time.
