Everything was amazing, gluten free pizza was the best I’ve ever had. No GF pasta unfortunately but well worth going for the pizza. Wine and desserts also on point!

First time we were here everything was perfect. The mixed versions of the bruschetta are unfortunatly not available anymore, but its still very good bruschetta. Amazing pizza and pasta’s with an open kitchen that adds to the overall atmopshere. Would recommend and revisit sometime soon.

I recently visited Carletto in Amsterdam, and I was absolutely blown away! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the food was exceptional—each dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The highlight of my visit, though, was the amazing staff. Every single person was so friendly, professional, and attentive, making the entire dining experience even more memorable. A special shoutout to Ada—she was incredible! Her attention to detail and friendly demeanor truly made our visit unforgettable. If you're in Amsterdam, Carletto is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Great wine from Puglia. Starters, pasta and dessert were all great and definitely above average compared to other Italian restaurants. Especially the handmade pasta stood out and was delicious. Also the service staff was very attentive, quick and friendly. We had a perfect evening.

I’ve been coming to Carletto regularly for the past two years, and it never disappoints. I was there again yesterday and, as always, it was fantastic. The food is authentic, full of flavor, and made with real care. Emiliano, the owner, is a fantastic host who always makes sure everything is perfect — he truly goes above and beyond. You can feel the passion in every detail. Hands down the best Italian in Amsterdam!

We spontaneously decided to have an early dinner here and it was a great decision. We felt very welcome, and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service was good. We are hoping to take family for dinner when they come to visit. So I would recommend for a little date night or family dinner!

Great place to eat, we had a few starters to share which were delicious. The Diavolina pizza is really recommended but even more so is their tiramisu!🤩 only downside is that they have shifts of 2 hours because you want to stay there longer!

Best Pasta in town ! At Carletto, they only serve handmade and homemade pasta, and some other dishes like a wide array of starters, a few meat dishes and a few more different pizze. Anyway, the GIRELLA ALLA NORMA, is one long spinach ravioli, not cut into pieces, but served as a spiral on your plate. The ravioli are served with a filling of slow baked aubergine, which makes them extra aromatic and salty ricotta cheese, which is so comforting, together with a light tomato sauce and excellent fresh basil. This dish is such a surprise and delight, and so super tasty! It represents the epitome of Italian Cuisine where "less is not only more", but where with simple, yet high quality ingredients miracles for your tastebuds are created on the plate. Their Montepulciano was excellent too. Bravo e arrivederci !

We have celebrated Valentine’s Day at Carletto. The food was delicious and the service very friendly. When we arrived we were first placed at a table which was a bit close to the entrance and since I am pregnant I asked if we can sit somewhere else because it was a bit cold for me. Fortunately we could switch to a quiet corner so it was fine. They had an alcohol free Prosecco for me which was served in a very full glass, this made me very happy. For starters we had a steak tartare and the burrata to start. The burrata had spicy oil on it which I did not expect but it was a nice twist. For the main they recommended us the ravioli, the surprise was that there were heart shaped ravioli which was very nice but it was a little too salty for my taste and could have had a bit more sauce to it. There were cooked perfectly al dente which I like. My boyfriend had the lasagna, it was very good and the cheese sauce on top was in abundance and delicious. For desert we had the cheesecake with Nutella which was very fluffy and light. Overall a good experience thank you!

We visited Carletto Amsterdam for a Valentine’s date and had a mixed experience. Getting there by car is quite difficult due to the bumpy road and lack of parking. However, once inside, the restaurant looks cozy with an open kitchen concept. Service was quick, which makes sense given the 90-minute time slot. However, the place was quite cold, and so was the food. We noticed that the microwave was used frequently, even for my Parmigiana di Melanzane, which didn’t taste great and got cold quickly—maybe better to reheat in the oven? My wife had the Carletto pasta, which was good but could have been better. We started with a bruschetta, but it was overly salty, and for dessert, we had a small tiramisu, which was fine. I originally wanted to order a pizza, but the chef wasn’t there, so no pizza was available, which was disappointing. The experience didn’t match the “upper-class” feel I expected, especially considering the €30 reservation cost. The restaurant was cold, the waiters wore t-shirts, and microwaved food doesn’t align with a premium dining experience. If the microwave has to be used, maybe consider moving it to the back instead of having it in plain sight? This wasn’t my first time here. Previously, we had a reservation for seven but arrived with eight. The manager wasn’t accommodating, so I left. I see the owner responding to all negative reviews, which I respect—it’s good to engage with customers. However, honest feedback is valuable for improvement. Hope this helps!

Previously delicious, now a big disappointment, has little to do with Italian food, mini glass of wine for the main price. All leftover wine is used up down to the last drop, even with red wine, if the glass is not full you don't get anything extra. Very unfortunate, can be taken off the lists!

We came as a group of 5. With different age groups ranging from 10 to 62. And all of us were very happy with our choices from Focaccia, Meatballs, Truffle pizza to desert being a Tiramisu. So overall, all of us enjoyed our dishes. Plus our waitress put in an effort to make us feel comfortable and being cared for. Which is an exception in Amsterdam. Hence, I recommend the restaurant and we will be back.

Carletto - Italian Osteria is a cute little Italian restaurant near the Museum Quarter of the awesome city of Amsterdam. Walking into this quaint little restaurant you are greeted with the most amazing Italian smells – garlic, onions – the smells that tell you this place is going to be good. Anna was my server and not only was she helpful in explaining the menu, but she was super friendly. She made me feel like I was part of the family. I love bruschetta. Their bruschetta classica was fresh with the right amount of garlic, served on a crispy toast point – delicious. For the main course, I ordered the Branzino alla Mediterranea – wild sea bass with olives, capers, and sun-dried tomatoes. The fish was light, cooked perfectly and went so well with the capers and olives. My only complaint was that the capers and tomatoes were hidden under the fish. The fish looked bland and colorless. I told Anna to tell the chef to highlight the other ingredients to help make the dish more visually appealing. I do not usually get dessert, but the Nutella and pistachio cheesecake looked too good to pass by. This was one of the better cheesecakes I have had in a while. I loved the combination of the hazelnut chocolate and the pistachio more than I thought I would. I did not expect this good of a meal, to be honest. I like being pleasantly surprised by a restaurant. I cannot wait to return. I am giving them a 5-star rating for all the reasons above.

We went for dinner this evening, we were looking for an Italian restaurant and we were welcomed by the owner, who was friendly and kind. As good Italians we were looking for someone who made pasta and from them we found handmade pasta that was also delicious with great abundance on the plates. Everything was impeccable, even the starters and dessert. Congratulations for everything. It is reassuring to know that there is a bit of Italy around the world too, I hope to see you again soon.

Ordering online its a waste of money! Twice the order was wrong arrive extra late and was hella cold! Plus cacio e pee whit short pasta is an insult to italian kitchen! Change job

Food was decent (above average pastas, they make it themselves which is yummy), cute atmosphere, friendly staff. Why 6/10? I find it kind of insulting to ask people to leave their table after 90min, in the reservation system this is called a “quick dinner”. Yes yes, when making the reservation I agreed to this but it still doesn’t sit right with me. You go to a restaurant to relax, enjoy the company of friends/family and be served well as a special treat. Hoping to turn a table within 90min takes the fun out of the experience, and feels impersonal and capitalist. The minimum allotment should be 120min for an enjoyable and relaxed experience without feeling like you’re another item in a manufacturing line. Just dropping this thought here: are we going too far? I think so. For this “not quite right” feeling, I won’t go again.

Nice staff and agreeable atmosphere. Starters Focaccia Parma and Fried Calamari were 5 stars. Main menus Sea-bass and Entrecote could have been 4-5 stars but we can only give them 3 as they were way too salty - still good food, but not worth the price as the salt spoils the richness of the taste. Tiramisu and Panna Cotta were good, but smallish portions for that price. At a total price of 160 euros for 2 people - could really be better. We still had a nice evening, but if especially the usage of salt is normal in their cooking, I can't recommend Carletto.

In their dishes use high-quality ingredients that elevate taste. The attention to details and care in handling dietary restrictions are top-notch, ensuring a safe and delicious experience for all people especially celiacs and gluten sensitive diners. The cozy atmosphere, combined with the friendly and welcoming staff, makes you feel right at home.

The location is not very large but well looked after. The owners are very kind and helpful Italians. Excellent service and very good food. Worth a bite.

Pleasantly surprised! We had our table for 2,5 hours but that was no issue since service was fast. We were with a group of 10 and shared everything that we’d ordered which was fun. I’m in love with the pizza with the burrata and olives. The restaurant is super packed and not every table is as comfy as the other so I guess you need to be a bit lucky go get a nicer spot.

I didn't like it, very small. The food is heavy and the pace of the waiters is overwhelming. The pastas recommended by the house are explosive in a bad way, not suitable to order at night and even less so on a date, they are repeated a lot, I did not finish my portion, nor did I finish the Panna Cota dessert or the cocktail. If you like small places with noise and people who pressure you, go, if you prefer sophisticated dinners, NO!

We were wandering around Amsterdam after a long day of traveling and stumbled into this place and I have to say it was absolutely fabulous. From the wine, to the food to the service . Everyone was so nice and we all left happy and ready to pass out from pasta, primitivo and pistachio nutella cheesecake.

Why does this place not have higher ratings? I took three friends who came to visit me from Rotterdam, and i wanted to impress them by taking them here. Let’s just say i exceeded their expectations and now they want to move to Amsterdam just because of this restaurant. Everything was perfect. What more can i say i will definitely be bringing all my loved ones here. You will not regret it. Order the taretare and carletto pasta, the limoncello spritz.

Well that was disappointing... to say the least. The portion was small, but that's to be expected while ordering. The pasta was very hard.. like almost done. And thinking it was 'al dente' no.. it was not cooked throug. The taste of the pasta itself was weird it had this burned favor. Looking at the bits of guancale I think that is where it came from.. the sauce was more of a soup than anything else. A bad tasting one at that.. the tiramisu was just not worth its money you can buy one at the supermarket and it will be a little less good than this one, but it's close enough especially for that price and the amount you get. I would not order from here again. Unfortunately I can't place a video, but I hope you can see how liquid the sauce is uhgg

Overpriced and bland food, really nice staff. The supposedly traditional lasagna was “crispy” on top according to them, it was almost burnt and dried out, lacked depth and flavour and was almost completely missing tomato sauce, instead it was soaking in bechamel. There are many better options for Italian food in the city.

Nice place and food but they charge for tap water 😂 We specified tap water to the waiter. I was shocked to see a charge on the bill for tap water. If you’re going to charge for tap water, which you really shouldn’t do in the first place, at least tell us in advance. Unbelievable. A shame really because it’s a nice spot and nice food. Nice staff too. All drinks are quite pricey - Coke Zero is €5.

This Monday I had dinner the other day in this restaurant and as an Italian I have to say... it really disappointed me. The only positive thing about the evening was a very nice waitress.

Overall I liked the place. One should not have high expectations in respect of Italian food. It is good for Amsterdam standards though. The service was perfect! Focaccia with Parma was tasty. Pasta with zucchini and pasta with truffel was ok. Cheesecake with strawberry was good. Important that the place is very clean.

A great experience that makes feel Italian expat home, intimate atmosphere suitable either for a date either for a friends night out, highly recommended for the quality of food, the portions are generous and the service and the people are friendly and welcoming, a perfect place for tasting real Italian food

I had high hopes for this Italian restaurant that I pass by every week, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet expectations. The burrata was decent, but at €17.5, it was a simple dish with cherry tomatoes sliced in 2—overpriced for what it was. Surprised to be charged for tap water for my daughter (€1,5), which felt unnecessary. The Negroni (€11) seemed hastily made, lacking attention to detail, no garnish (at least a slice of orange would do the job) The entrecôte, which I ordered rare, arrived overcooked and was quite small for the €32 price tag. The quality of the meat was also not up to par. They served focaccia without asking, and I was charged €8.5 for it. €11 for a simple vanilla ice cream, counted as an affogato, felt excessive. The waiter was very pushy with extras, which of course reflected in the final bill. The one highlight was the nice chef, who made an excellent bolognese—delicious, well-served. Sadly, the overall experience felt like being in a tourist trap where the goal is to pad the bill with unnecessary extras.

A fantastic Italian restaurant in Amsterdam. Although something went wrong while serving the main courses, this was resolved by the owner in a very professional manner. We were even offered free desserts. The service was excellent and we will definitely come back here!

Absolutely incredible pasta, having nothing to fault with the food. However our waiter was quite unpleasant and unfriendly, took the plates away when we were still chewing, and he also rushed us to order. This was a pity because it’s such a beautiful restaurant with great food.

Recently we stumbled upon this little Italian spot in Amsterdam called Carletto. From the moment we walked in, it felt like a warm hug :small, cozy and with a friendly host welcoming us right away. We started with the Frittura Di Calamari, which was crisp and fresh. Since we are big fans of truffle, we ordered their signature Carletto Pasta, a tagliatelle dish covered in truffle and Parmigiano Reggiano. It was rich and the pasta had that perfect bite. We also shared the Tartafuta Pizza, which was equally delicious, with a crispy base and plenty of truffle flavor. To top it all off, we treated ourselves to the Chocolate Cheesecake for dessert, which was creamy and smooth. The atmosphere at Carletto, combined with great service and tasty food, made it a really special evening. I will definitely be back!

I was expecting more of this place. One waiter who served us was not very friendly and the quality-price ratio of the food was questionable (the tiramisu is tiny). We were rushed to order and the food didn’t come at the same time. The inside is beautiful but there are better Italian places in Amsterdam.

I visited this restaurant recently and, unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. We waited over 30 minutes for someone to take our order, despite asking multiple times for service. When we inquired about tap water, a waitress raised her voice, which was both unprofessional and unnecessary. The service was extremely slow throughout the meal, and the food was nothing special, lacking any standout flavours or presentation. To top it off, our bill was incorrect, and the staff wasn’t willing to solve the issue, ultimately sending us to their manager. Overall, the service left much to be desired, and I wouldn’t recommend it based on this experience.

I opted for the carbonara and it was amazing. I couldn’t recommend this place enough! I’ve told friends and family to go and they all loved it too!

Food in here is just amazing !! Place had great atmosphere, very nice and friendly staff. Only downside for me is that staff didn’t know much about the wines and despite the wide wine selection, all of the wines were on the entry level side. So i recommend the place a lot if you want great food and don’t care much about wine.

Great vibe, pleasant personnel and a nice selection of wine. However, I would’ve expected a bit more depth of flavor for such a high price. I really liked pizza with burrata and Parma ham, it was very satisfying and juicy. The signature truffle pasta was good, but that’s it, there was no balance or depth of flavor (probably too much truffles and not enough cheese). I didn’t like bruschetta very much, something was off there, something about balance again.

We had a nice meal here. You have to pay €15 per person when booking, but that will of course be deducted from your bill. I do think it is a bit pricey for the portions you get, but the food does taste good. The wine was delicious.

Very displeased to be left waiting for half an hour for our reservation. It's better respect to tell the customer to come later rather than having him there to wait. Fortunately it was dry. Then our table facing the toilet. People forgetting to close the doors, resulting to a great view and hints of smell while eating. Not pleasant. Other than that, personnel very polite and food was very good.

I loved the Girella alla Norma, enjoyed some great red wine, and a tiramisu to finish. The limoncello on the house was a really nice touch. It was the best Italian restaurant I’ve been to in Amsterdam. We had bruschetta and meatballs to start, pasta carletto and ricotta & spinach ravioli (which were just made by a lady in the window) for mains, with tiramisu for desert. All dishes were delicious with good portion sizes, we left completely full!

I came with my wife for an elegant dinner, we started with a bottle of wine, but the staff gave us a very unpleasant surprise, we should have ordered everything immediately in a short time, even though it was a normal dinner time of 19:30, of course we could not decide in a short time and meet all expectations , we ate the "starters" menu, to ask for the main menu again, but the staff is pushing the dessert menu. After such behavior, we left a completely untouched bottle of wine, paid and left. Unpleasant and unprofessional!!

We were recommended the Carletto by a Dutch colleague and were not disappointed! We had the ricotta calzone as a starter and two pasta dishes as a main course - the food was freshly prepared and was one of the best Italian food experiences we have ever had. Truly a must-do in Amsterdam. But don't forget to reserve! 😄

Absolutely great, real Italian food ! Good selection of beautiful Italian wines. Very nice staff. A bit pricey, but definitely value for money. The restaurant was completely full, but they managed to get the dishes out at just the right pace. Only small and minor point of criticism : the restaurant has put the tables really close together, which made the couple that was arguing all the time at the table directly next to us a bit annoying.

At reception we were kindly greeted by the staff, unfortunately we were seated quite close to the door. Nevertheless, the two of us had a nice meal. And we left with a good feeling and a full belly. I was expecting a lot from a place with this reviews and prize range, but unfortunately I feel like it didn't meet any of my expectations. The food was incredibly average although I wouldn't have complained if it wasn't for the prize of it. My pizza was 20 euros and I believe I could have the same quality or flavour in any other pizzeria with half the prize. The atmosphere and service was good, but the food was simply disappointing.
