The starter and pasta were original and delicious. The three lamb chops were cooked very hard and not very tasty. They were €32. There were a few wines by the glass. Nothing special, but quite expensive.

Entrecôte arrived grey, completely lacking a sear, and undercooked (more rare than medium rare as asked). It had no flavour from proper browning — very disappointing. Ragu was tasty! Carbonara almost too aldente. Atmosphere cosy, friendly service. Real shame about the steak.

A beautifully intimate, friendly restaurant with incredibe food. Nestled in a quiet residential neighbourhood, only 15 minutes from Dam Square. The staff were the friendliest staff we have ever seen in a restaurant. We had such good chats, like we were sitting in a friend's dining room. The food was so authentic Italian. The pasta I had was obviously fresh, and the best pasta I've ever had. My wife even gave the staff hugs on the way out. Absolutely a great find, that most tourists never know will even exist. Go here if you're anywhere near Amsterdam.

Just WOW! As an Italian living in Amsterdam, I can’t recall the last time I’ve felt this excited and impressed by a meal. Trattoria Koevoet is absolutely wonderful - the building, the atmosphere, the food. I would absolutely recommend this place to all my friends (especially the Italian ones!) and have no doubts they would love just as much as I did.

I was celebrating a special occasion, and we had the "bad luck" of arriving 15 minutes late, but they still took care of us and served us wonderfully! We were lucky enough to have the restaurant to ourselves for an hour. From then on, we shared a room with someone I will never forget, but that's a secret I can't reveal! It was an unexpected experience and an unforgettable night. The food is exceptional, and the vegetarian menu is highly recommended! The desserts are exquisite! The cocktails are wonderful! And don't hesitate to ask for wine recommendations! They will give you excellent advice! My experience exceeded my expectations, I'll be back!

It seems the chef has been changed here. We have been coming here for over a decade, once a year, and last night we were underwhelmed by the food unfortunately. We found the whole experience different from the past. The food was nice but not ‘wow’ nice like it used to be. I hope they can find their feet, the new owners I mean.

A gem in De Jordaan! An AI gave me a list of traditional Italian restaurants and this one stuck out. And I don't regret it. I had Broccoli è Gorgonzola for starter, and Ragù Capriolo (roe deer) with pasta. This with a good Valpolicella Ripasso and bread with olive oil made my evening. A real treat!!

Truly a hidden Amsterdam gem ❤️ the food is delicious with a changing menu so you always have a reason to go back. My favourite is the bolognese with a historical recipe - best I've ever had!! Been coming here time and time again for the cosy atmosphere as well as the place is run by family and friends. If you want authentic Italian food with a modern twist, this is the place for you. The building is historical with that true Amsterdam feeling with details dating back to the 1800's. Amazing place!

Delicious Italian food and everything served by Italian staff

If you are fan of the Italian cosine, this is a must in your next trip to Amsterdam or must also be in your favourite bookmarks in case you live here. Run by Italian brothers, they put all the effort in quality and good service. I have already been there 4 times, and hopefully there will be a fifth soon.

Food was not bad, average. But in relation to the price absurdly expensive. Given the good reviews I have doubts about the taste of the average visitor. Pleasant ambiance though.

Beautiful and cozy Italian trattoria in Jordaan, we ate parmigiana and gnocchi and it was absolutely mind blowing. The taste sent us all the way back home in Dalmatia and we really enjoyed it. Prices are higher but definitely worth it. Wait until you try lemon meringue pie, cherry on top of the dinner! Kudos to chefs and lovely waiter. :)

Sometimes you eat dinner at places that are so exceptional they break your heart. This was our experience here - exceptional wine, exceptional food, exceptional hosting. Old Amsterdam style Italian restaurant. Delicious food, pleasant service. Surprising top evening.

Found this eatery via Google Maps. After reading the reviews we reserved a table. It is a small, dark and attractive restaurant. It was quite full so you sat close together, but that didn't bother us. The service was very friendly. The choice of beer and soft drinks was limited, while the wine list was very extensive. As a starter we had a wooden board full of different cheeses and meats. Fine! We both had pasta as a main course. We didn't think the portions were very large for the price we paid. We also thought the pasta was cooked very al dente, almost undercooked in our experience. Could have been a little longer. Flavors were otherwise good. The dessert, the tiramisu, was delicious!!

Tuve un negroni que fue una revelación - utilizan un licor de naranja siciliano que añade un toque afrutado encantador. El carpaccio de terra era generoso en tamaño, la carne era hermosa, y el aderezo era lo suficientemente sutil como para dejar pasar la carne, pero añadió un poco de cítricos. Terminé con una carbonara clásica de espagueti. La pasta estaba fresca, cocinada exactamente a la textura correcta. La salsa - simple, rica, profunda - era encantador, y el tocino era excelente. Este es un lugar pequeño, ocupado, y el personal era encantador, pero obviamente muy ocupado.

Italian restaurant in old Amsterdam café "bruine kroeg". Looks from outside and at entrance are a bit more spectacular than once seated in the back. But still, it is a very unusual combination of cultures. Waiters are Italian. Menu is classic Italian but basic, not very modern or adventurous. But food is good.

This was a recommendation of our Airbnb host & it did not disappoint. Small. Cosy, genuine atmosphere. Food was very traditional Italian. Very good, as was wine. A lovely spot. We didn't make a booking but were extremely lucky to get a walk in. Place was completely full so I recommend a booking. Of special note was the service. One guy serviced the restaurant & he was completely on the ball. Very impressive.

Cramped place, small portions (especially compared to the price you pay) and you shouldn't expect anything special from the food. The service is not good, there are not enough people at the counter to properly serve the number of customers.

A gift from friends, we had a lovely evening meal at Koevoet Restaurant in Amsterdam. It felt homely and comforting from the moment we entered. We ordered some bubbles and perused the menu. We kicked off with the Carpaccio di mare, authentically flavoured octopus carpaccio accompanied by a homemade octopus mayonnaise and black olives. When I first read “octopus mayonnaise” I was a bit hesitant, but it is well balanced and suits the rest of the dish. Can recommend. For our main course, we shared the Branzino alla ligure, a perfectly cooked seabass adorned with the delicate flavours of "Taggiasche" olives, pine nuts, and thyme, alongside the luscious Parmigiana di melanzane, I’m a big fan of aubergine and this was a simple dish, done well, with a nice depth of flavours. They had a good range of wines to accompany their menu and can definitely recommend leaving room for dessert. The warm ambiance and attentive staff made for a relaxing night out, we were surrounded by locals who clearly knew were to go for good Italian in Amsterdam. If you find yourself in Amsterdam, don't miss the chance to share a nice meal, in a quiet, friendly place. We had the early seat starting at 18:00. Upon arrival we got a seat and ordered the burrata. The host was super friendly, some smalltalk and a real "horecavrouw". The food was tasty and would recommend it. The service was great. Een echt jordaans pareltje.

Beautiful place but they served us non-gluten free pasta when we ordered gluten-free. Since we are allergic this mistake could have been very bad if we ate it. Luckily we noticed and it took some convincing even to get the waitress to double check. Then we got new pasta and my sauce that initially looked like a good traditional carbonara turned into just cream with a cheap pasta. It has 0 flavour, I had to add a mountain of pepper to give it something. Also, it was my birthday and it was very dissapointing. Not only was the food very dissapointing, I could've eaten something that I am allergic to if I hadn't noticed the pasta looking weird myself. There also seemed to be only one waitress serving the whole restaurant and therefore everything took ages. I used to come here with my dad so it held memories but unfortunately i dont think i will come back.

What a huge disappointment this is. Rude and uninterested service who immediately came to tell us that we had to hurry up to stay within our time slot. Sea bass was the size of a postage stamp and the vegetable consisted of an indeterminate potato. Pasta undercooked, but service nowhere to be seen. Absolutely not recommended, incomprehensible that it is always full there

I was invited here by a dear friend and was delighted by the historic charm, great food, lively atmosphere and friendly service. It’s very near central station and yet tucked away in traditional Dutch surroundings, making it perfect for people stopping through the city for a short time who want to experience the real cosiness of a candlelight dinner in Amsterdam - and even better for locals (always good to know there is a great Italian restaurant nearby to rely on)! Vorig jaar dit pareltje ontdekt en sindsdien vaste klant. Gezellige, warme sfeer, en het personeel is zeer behulpzaam, vriendelijk en deskundig. Het allerbelangrikste: heerlijk, authentiek italiaans eten (en wijnen; friulano echt een topper) van echte Italianen. Burrata en tiramisu een must!

We waren met zijn vijfen en drie van de vijf hebben lekker gegeten. Ravioli was echt niet lekker; deeg te dik, vulling ook niet goed. Verder: er is geen 'drank -kaart' en dat is absoyeen truuk om je veel uit te laten geven. Een biertje 7euro een Aperol spritz 12 euro is echt aan de heel erg hoge kant. En dat krijg je dan als verassing achteraf. Verder hele tent vol, 1 persoon in de bediening. Wel profi maar weinig tijd voor de gasten, uitleg aan tafel etc. Voor mij geen blijvertje helaas.

I love this little restaurant it's a historical place. I like the food and it's made with love. Although I would not say it's the best Italian restaurant in town. I thought the pasta was to al dente, a bit to chewy and to little sauce. The Melanzane was how I know it from Italy but a bit to black on the top. I recommend using other sort of mozzarella because this one became quite chewy and I think it should be more soft. Also I missed the tomato flavor. The pannacotta desert was perfect. Fresh vanilla used and with the crispy nuts and fruit it was a treet. Although we had a lovely evening it is not my favorite Italian.

Heerlijk gegeten; het is genieten in De Koevoet! Je proeft dat alles met veel zorg is bereid. We namen groene asperges, buffelmozzarella, gnocchi, branzino, kingsize garnalen en als dessert kaasplankje en het chocoladetaartje uit de oven! Mmmm...echte aanrader.

Erg lekker gegeten op aanraden van familie. Het restaurant is moeilijk vindbaar qua info, maar zeker de moeite waard. Je zit in een klein oud bruin café dat is omgebouwd tot restaurantje. We hebben met z'n tweeën een voor, hoofd -en nagerecht gehad, met een fles water, biertje en fris. Inclusief fooi waren we €110 euro kwijt, prima prijs voor erg lekker eten. De bavette met parmezaanse kaas is een heerlijke aanrader overigens, net zoals de zelfgemaakte ravioli met spinazie en ricotta vulling in parmazaanse kaassaus. Op sommige reviews is te lezen dat het nogal lawaaierig is, maar dit viel ons reuze mee. Het blijft een kleine ruimte met meerdere tafeltjes, dus het is al snel dat er veel gesprekken door elkaar zullen lopen. Voor ons in ieder geval geen probleem, eerder gezellig. Wanneer we weer eens in Amsterdam zijn, gaan we graag nog eens terug. Heerlijk!

Lekker gegeten en geweldige mooi oud interieur

Mit einer Gruppe von Kollegen habe ich dieses Restaurant genießen dürfen. Ca. 10 min zu Fuß von der Centraal Station, aber der Weg lohnt sich. Die Atmosphäre ist sehr familiär, auch weil man recht "komprimiert" an den Tischen sitzt. Das Personal war super freundlich und absolut umsichtig. Das Essen war der Hammer!. Wir hatten eine spontan zusammengestellte Menü-Auswahl und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Bruschetta mit selbst gemachtem Brot, Pasta, Fisch, Fleisch, Dessert: wir waren alle begeistert und selbst meine 3 italienischen Kollegen zogen das Fazit: "wie bei Mama". Ein größeres Kompliment kann man vermutlich nicht geben.

Voor het eerst geweest, maar wat een leuk eetcafé. Heerlijke wijn, goede bediening en het eten was top. Echt een aanrader om gezellig een avondje heen te gaan!

Niet meer wat get geweest is helaas. Twee jaar geleden heerlijk gegeten, maar nu zeer matige kwaliteit voor hoge prijs. Vlees was overgaar en pasta juist nog niet gaar. Biertjes van 0.2l waren 5 euro maar sloegen direct dood. Zonde!

Eindelijk een restaurant waar je nog gewoon zonder reserveren een plekje vindt op een drukke vrijdagavond. Uitstekende, sympathieke bediening, prachtige, nostalgische ambiance, heerlijk gegeten, als het te weinig is kan je gewoon brood bijvragen he!

Het was -vroeger- zo mooi... Traditioneel Italiaans eten in een oud Amsterdams café-restaurant. Dat laatste is inmiddels de enige reden om er naar toe te gaan. Het eten was matig. De carpaccio van coquilles was smaakloos, en het werd duidelijk waarom... een deel was bevroren. Invriezen??? Tussen neus en lippen door een niet gemeende "sorry" van de bediening en een gratis glas wijn. De Carbonara met guanciale-spek was een vrij droge hap met grote vierkante stukken spek. Geen enkele samenhang tussen pasta en spek. Het lijkt er op, dat de kok-eigenaar zijn passie kwijt is.

Locale accogliente, personale attento, servizio ottimo. Mario è una persona gentile. La cucina eccellente , qualità alta. Serata deliziosa.
