Castelluccio is the successor to Ristorante Contini, the famous Italian family that was one of the first to open an Italian restaurant in the Netherlands. The current entrepreneurial couple Tolga and Amber still do justice to this history; albeit in their own refreshing way. In addition to classics, the hospitable couple also offers new interesting dishes and desserts. The service is young, polite and tries to please the guests. The dishes and pizzas are neatly priced and for about twenty-five euros you have a bottle of very tasty wine on the table. What is striking is that the guests are mainly relatively young people. This probably has something to do with the ample attention paid to online marketing on Instagram and Facebook. The interior is refined every year, giving the restaurant a warm, Mediterranean and contemporary look.

There is a lot of room for improvement here! We were here on Thursday. A very popular day it seemed. The entrance is for take-away as well as for those who have made a reservation and those who want to pay.. and oh yes.. there is also a toilet for both ladies and gentlemen. You guessed it.. chaos and longer waiting than necessary and not really a nice entrance. Then you walk through a restaurant area that looks reasonably styled and that seems promising but no... we were placed in an incredibly uninviting but especially noisy extension/conservatory that was very full of tables. Service was friendly but also special. We asked for a carafe of water. It came, without glasses🤔... An empty wine glass was taken away but not asked if new ones were wanted. Potatoes would be reserved with meat dishes. There was spaghetti with it.. food was reasonable for the price/quality. The toilet was small, dark and not clean. The floor was also wet... yuck. So pay at the exit.. I follow this on instagram. That looked promising.. But I wouldn't come back here. Unfortunately

Food is nothing special. Very average. Staff is friendly but not very bright. Tables are packed so close together that it does not benefit the atmosphere.

The food was delicious! We were seated in the back of the restaurant (closed space) and it was difficult to have a conversation with each other. Tip: maybe the acoustics can be adjusted? For example by placing acoustic panels.

Been a guest at Contini for years. Even when they still had a restaurant on Peperstraat. Been to the 'new contini' twice now. And a great success twice! How beautiful the restaurant has turned out. And the food is still tasty, in fact: the pasta Romana has become tastier :). Friendly staff and the hostess and host are enthusiastic people who want to make it a successful restaurant and are always up for a chat. That is good for a customer and it makes you want to come back here again. Team Castelluccio: Keep up the good work, we will definitely be back!

The following feedback is intended to be constructive: The staff is friendly, hard-working, calm and cooperative. The tagliatelle was unfortunately too dry and too greasy (waited too long to serve). Too much olive oil added to probably prevent drying out? The prawns had a good taste and structure. Cannoli as a dessert but much too dry (literally had to wash it down with my drink). More moisture should have been added when preparing the dough. All in all: competitive prices but focused on mass production (the place was full). So for the more gourmets among us, this restaurant is certainly not recommended. Or was 'our' chef having an off day... Pizzas will undoubtedly be good. Tip: serve negroni as a niche! Simple and yet an exclusive and Italian experience because unfortunately I did not have the latter. Table 222

What a wonderful meal we had here! The atmosphere was warm and cozy, and the service very friendly. The starters were tasty and well prepared. The pizzas really stood out: richly topped, crispy base and full of flavor. We will definitely come back!

Really felt like the staff wanted to go home quickly. The food was there super fast and that in itself is not a problem. Only when picking up the starter they already asked if we wanted the main course. We said Ooh yes please in a few minutes is fine. It was there really incredibly fast. After we had finished the main course the lady asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. She came back with sorry the kitchen is closed. Do you want tea or coffee? Not really service when it is 21:28…..

Had a great meal at Castelluccio. You really feel like a welcome guest here. We sat in the conservatory. When the weather is warm, the roof hatches are opened and when it gets colder, they are closed again. The wait staff knows how to serve guests. The food was tasty and plentiful.

Toilet tissues were already gone at the beginning. Otherwise completely satisfied!! Worth repeating.

Many people rave about this eatery, but personally I didn't find it as special as expected. It was fine otherwise - nothing wrong with it - but it didn't blow me off my chair.

We come here regularly. Friendly staff and the pizzas and desserts are delicious! The acoustics of the restaurant could be improved. Because it is so noisy, you start talking louder yourself, which only makes the problem worse.

Very tasty meal! The restaurant was packed on a Wednesday evening, but we still didn't have to wait long for service and food :) Our group also included people with gluten allergies and vegans, they also had a delicious meal. My dog ​​was allowed to come along (call in advance because they are not allowed at all tables) and I got a dog ice cream, how nice is that. Recommended!

Today we visited the Castelluccio restaurant. Right from the start we were warmly welcomed. There was a pleasant atmosphere throughout our stay, supported by the friendly and attentive staff. We chose pizza, which turned out to be excellent in taste. Our visit was rounded off with a diverse dessert platter full of delicacies. Despite the language barrier, we felt very well received as a group - thanks to the waitresses' good language skills. We would recommend the restaurant to anyone who wants to experience a relaxed evening full of culinary experiences and a wonderful team that is always ready to respond to the guests' wishes. If you are looking for authentic Italian cuisine, warm hospitality and an all-round successful restaurant visit, you should definitely save Castelluccio on Google Maps and experience it for yourself!

Very tasty meal! Lasagna with salami is highly recommended, very tasty, the salami gives just that little bit extra to the lasagna. Cozy place and despite the crowds you can talk to each other at a normal volume. Also suitable for people with dietary requirements!

Food was just not ok. Lasagna was lukewarm. Pasta was almost cold. Dessert took 35 minutes and wasn't really great Atmosphere is really excellent and the service cannot be faulted either. Once home I couldn't keep the food down. Unfortunately it was a one-off for us.

The food is not really special, unfortunately we will not come back again. The marsala sauce was very sweet and the meat dry, a bit of a disappointment. The herb butter and the pizza roll were the highlights of the evening. Unfortunately, they did not come by separately to collect drinks. We went again after 1.5 hours because of thirst. We had something to celebrate and mentioned this when making the reservation, but unfortunately it was not picked up.

Went there with a party of 8 and it was absolutely lovely! The atmosphere is fancy yet cozy, food was excellent (everyone ordered either lasagna, pizza, pasta). The service was also very nice, people were kind and incredibly helpful, always asked if we needed something else or how’s everyone’s food. Definitely coming back!

We ate at Castelluccio with our family and it was just great! The service was extremely courteous and warm. What struck us particularly positively was how child-friendly the entire team was - our child was welcomed with a smile and well looked after. The food was fresh, tasty and authentic. I have driven by many times from Groningen to Haren and have now finally made a reservation. A good choice, as it turned out. Friendly welcome. Fast service. Delicious dishes and nice atmosphere. We will definitely come back. Small point for wheelchair users: the entrance is a small challenge (2 flights of stairs and the door in a right-angled bend)

Good Italian, for pizza but also many other dishes.

Unfortunately, the pizza I ordered here was very disappointing. The toppings were simply dumped into the center of the pizza without spreading it. This made the pizza very soggy and wet in the middle. Furthermore, the toppings seemed to come from a can with the amount of liquid that was released and the salty taste that was present. The pepperoni/salami on the pizza itself was also very salty. The only good thing about the pizza was the dough itself. It's just a shame that they also added salt to the pizza, especially the crust, which made it a very salty experience overall. You can get better pizza almost anywhere else. I especially looked at the price/quality ratio. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere looked good.

Delicious Italian dishes prepared with care and served in a friendly manner

Formerly the famous Italian restaurant Contini. The interior and atmosphere have remained largely the same; the atmosphere is still good and cozy. The food is really excellent and very tasty. The only downside is the timing of serving the food. We were a group of 9 and both the main course and the dessert were not served to everyone at the same time. Normally not such a big deal, but with the main course there was still a small 5 minutes between everyone having their pizza. The Cannoli is really recommended!

Our 2nd Christmas day unfortunately ended in a pretty bad state. After eating the carpaccio, which didn't look very fresh anymore, I felt really sick and got acute diarrhea. I didn't eat a main course anymore, I went home. Someone else who had the mussels and vongole also got sick immediately upon returning home. The rest of the group also complained of stomach ache and diarrhea. The main courses were also cold. We were also quite shocked by the extremely dirty toilets in the restaurant, of which there is only 1 ladies' and 1 men's toilet. For a relatively large restaurant that is really very little. For us this was once but never again.

I'll start with what I liked and that was the atmosphere and the service for me. There are friendly people working here and they seem to have a good atmosphere among themselves. The atmosphere is also good, it is a cozy restaurant, only I sometimes find the quotes a bit much, but there is something for everyone. The food varied for me, I have eaten here a few times now and yet it was always a bit disappointing. Today I had spaghetti bolognese and I didn't really like it, although my fellow guests had ordered a pizza and they enjoyed it. Maybe I was unlucky tonight. That's why I gave it this rating.

Based on a spontaneous recommendation, I visited the Castelluccio with my daughter on a Saturday evening without making a reservation in advance. The restaurant was busy, but we only had to wait a few minutes until we were assigned a comfortable table. The service was very friendly, lots of young employees who obviously enjoyed their work. The atmosphere was casual. Drinks and starters arrived quickly, and the main course arrived at the right time. We enjoyed it very much! Absolutely within the price range. So if you want to eat delicious Italian food in Groningen, away from the center, you should definitely venture to Castelluccio. We'll definitely be back!
