The Winter Fair was a lot of fun, the organizers created a wonderful Christmas atmosphere. Lots of lovely items to see and buy. We toured the castle from the inside and had a bite to eat at the Bosloods. It was a great day!

Very atmospheric in the evening with all the lighting and fire pits. Beautiful location near the castle. Parking available on site for €5.00. Nice decorations, but a lot of clothing for sale.

A truly beautiful castle, definitely worth a visit. Includes an audio narration at the entrance, and audio can be picked up at the restaurant.

Beautiful castle and walking area

This afternoon we visited Vorden Castle. We were able to quickly put the audio tour aside because a guide offered to accompany us. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour, which also included a tour of private rooms. It was truly special to step into the lives of the owners. Highly recommended!

We didn't visit the castle, but we did take a lovely walk. Definitely worth it. It's also a lovely village, and you can enjoy good food there.

A beautiful location where you get your own key to enter. Everything is incredibly relaxed. Well worth a visit. Lots of authentic furniture and artwork, even from the 13th and 14th centuries. Great attention has been paid to the decor, even with fresh flowers on the tables.

So there you are on a Tuesday. Google says it's open, but apparently they're closed on Tuesdays. A trip from Friesland to Vorden for nothing. What a shame.

Beautifully restored, privately owned castle. Open several days a week, it offers audio tours led by the residents in their private quarters. The original layout and furnishings are still in use, and the gardens are lovingly maintained.

The castle is still inhabited. It's a guided tour with an audio guide. Buying a ticket was a bit complicated at the restaurant a bit further down the road, which was incredibly busy. The route to the castle entrance wasn't very clear either, unfortunately. The audio tour provides a lot of information, including dates and the names of many paintings. That could be a bit less; I didn't remember anything.

I went to the British Fair. It's a small but very enjoyable festival. Lots of tastings and fun stalls with goodies. These included sheepskins, windbreakers, honey, pie, and wax jackets. If you like sheep, vintage cars, and bagpipes, this is also a great experience near Vorden Castle. P.S. Parking is no problem.

A little fairytale to behold. Superbly decorated, perfectly in keeping with the surroundings. It's wonderful that the past has been so well-preserved.

There's a great restaurant in front of the castle where you can grab a drink. The castle itself isn't anything special and is in need of some maintenance.

One of the most beautiful castle experiences in Northern Europe. We've been to many castles in the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium. Some of them were even inhabited. But this castle, guided by the audio guide, is truly one long history told by the current owners themselves! The atmosphere is genuine and original. After the two-hour tour, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at the on-site restaurant. A completely wonderful and new castle-visiting experience for us!

A very nice British fair with lots to do: cars, birds of prey, Scottish bands. Many stalls, sheep herding, dog obstacle courses, and hunting dog training.

I was fortunate enough to attend the British Weekend today. It was a fantastic experience.

Very entertaining, top-notch. The food and drinks there are also excellent, with friendly and efficient service and excellent food. All in all, a great place. 👍😊

Beautifully situated and beautiful castle

The tour is well worth it. The lord of the castle speaks passionately about life in a castle and the search for items that belong there. Enjoy a delicious cappuccino and a slice of Monchou cake on the terrace of the nearby restaurant.

Beautiful castle to visit, many nicely decorated rooms and an audio tour that provides additional information. I noticed that there were a bizarre number of stuffed animals and animal rugs (yes, even compared to average castles and country houses). If there's an explanation for this, please let me know.

Such a shame. We wanted to reminisce. We stayed at this castle 15 years ago. Apparently, it's now a museum. We took a picture before buying tickets. The owner approached us, so we told him we'd stayed there, but they immediately asked us, not so kindly, to leave if we didn't have tickets. So, unfortunately, buying tickets isn't so tempting anymore.

The location remains beautiful, the pleasant atmosphere in Vorden center and the beautiful nature in which the beautiful walking and cycling routes you continue to enjoy 🌸

A beautifully decorated outdoor area where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or a drink. It was very busy because of the holidays, so we had to wait a bit longer, but that's understandable. The menu was good, and the food was excellent! (Although the slices of cheese on the nachos weren't quite melted yet.) The castle was definitely worth a visit too.

My visit to the castle was an unforgettable experience! Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff who gave us a brief introduction to the castle's history. The architecture was breathtaking, and the tour offered a fascinating glimpse into the lives of its former residents. The rooms were beautifully decorated, and the garden was a peaceful oasis. The view from the tower was spectacular and definitely worth the climb. I also appreciated the interactive elements, such as exhibits and information boards, that brought the castle's story to life. If you're interested in history or just want to spend a lovely day, this castle is highly recommended! Don't forget to bring your camera for some beautiful photos. I can't wait to return!

Beautiful castle, I was especially impressed by the exterior, with the lovely walking/cycling opportunities in the woods. It's a very nice place. The restaurant is also nice. A nice audio tour for the castle, with lots of explanation of the rooms. It's a shame we couldn't see the prison; I wondered how long the stuff had been there. I didn't think it was really worth the price. I understand that maintenance takes a lot of time, but it looked like it hadn't been dusted in a while. Lots of cobwebs, dust, dead flies, etc. It really looked dirty. Otherwise, it's really nice; castles are always interesting, but for me personally, this interior wasn't one of the best/most beautiful.

It's fantastic that the castle is fully furnished. No empty halls, really. The audio tour is very user-friendly and provides interesting, concise information. Definitely worth a visit!

Beautiful place and a nice restaurant with terrace

What a pleasant visit after a delicious lunch at 'Horeca Bosloods 1873' on the castle grounds (former coach house, etc.?) and a subsequent walk through the surrounding woods. 'Horeca Bosloods 1873' is a perfect addition or addition for more interest. A big plus! The only drawback is the road to both the Castle and the Bosloods, as well as the parking facilities. I now clearly understand that this is absolutely beyond the Castle's control... After all, the municipality and the Forestry Commission (Staatsbosbeheer) own everything... * The visit to the castle and the audio tour could be improved in terms of activation, etc., after registering at the Bosloods. It's currently not optimal. * The Castle itself looks very well-maintained, both inside and out!! It's also nice that the uninhabited "style rooms" are practically nonexistent. Life here is still very much alive!!! Very special! The surrounding "woods" lacks much charm. But as I said, this is in other hands... In short...all in all...a wonderful visit to the castle, a pleasant stop/break at the Bosloods. Highly recommended. So...my visit was very pleasant. Do it yourself soon. You'll be surprised. Vorden Castle is privately owned. The owners have restored most of it to its original state. We were truly impressed! Of course, some areas still need some attention, but what do you expect from such a large castle with so many rooms...! If the owners read this...we'd love to come and help out sometime...or more! 😉 A fantastic place to visit!!!

Two weeks ago I had a very nice but especially a very nice tour in the castle of Vorden. They were busy with all the preparations for the Christmas 🎄 decorations.

Beautifully decorated castle; they're very committed to maintaining it. A retired contractor gave us a tour and explained everything. We enjoyed delicious coffee and cheesecake with red fruit at the Bosloods.

A charmingly situated castle with a romantic appearance. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to explore the interior. However, it is open Wednesday through Monday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Definitely worth a visit.

Fantastic property with a beautiful café.

You can no longer just walk to the castle. In the past you could walk to the castle via the footpath at Lodewijk's tree, but unfortunately it is now closed off with a fence.

Because of an event, entrance was free. Nice to see the inside. The outside is already beutyful.

Beautiful castle with many special furniture, dishes and utensils. Small downside is that everything is very full. And I understand that people want to show a lot. But when stuffed animals are placed everywhere between and on top of the furniture, it detracts from the whole. It's just a bit too much of a good thing.

There was a Fair with Antiques and Curiosities that I went to

Beautiful castle, part of which was free to visit during the brocante fair on Whit Monday. Many stalls with beautiful items, but it was very busy. In our opinion too few stalls to buy something to eat, there was only 1. Also at the castle there was only 1 opportunity to eat something. Furthermore it was a beautiful event!

Nice market visited on the 2nd day of Pentecost - stuff where one sees "junk" and the other is happy with a beautiful cabinet with a past. And the coffee with monchou cake - delicious! ...worth the half hour wait☺️

A special look into a country house in use. Well-maintained and optimal maintenance process. Back in time is certainly applicable here. You are in a special natural place.

A very beautiful historic castle right at the entrance to the town. There's parking and a lovely garden. You can comfortably walk around the castle in about 30 minutes. There's plenty to photograph and admire.

Beautifully renovated, special to visit.

We did have to wait for quite a while in the cafe to purchase our tickets and audiotour. We were provided with a key to enter the main gate and castle. The castle exterior was absolutely stunning. Very romantic with lovely gardens. My brother and I spoke to one of the owners as he was working in the garden when we entered.The interior was fascinating. Not the usual stately home interior you might expect but who cares. We had the place to ourselves and loved it. It was such a memorable, unusual and interesting experience and I strongly recommend a visit.

Paradise place on a beautiful spring day!

We visited the castle today and enjoyed it very much. We were lucky enough to get a tour from guide Jan and this was very fun and informative. This made it an extra fun experience. Nearby catering establishments were also very worthwhile.

Hidden gem! Very special to be able to walk through the fully furnished rooms, some of which are still in use. The owner and her husband tell visual stories via audio guide about the castle, the function of the various rooms and the works of art present. You can also meet the residents. Beautiful building, beautiful surroundings, but the money has clearly run out. Supposedly still inhabited, but I don't understand how they do that without contracting asthma, what a dust mess. The butler has clearly been fired, half-decayed stuffed animals, tapestries that are falling apart and paintings that can no longer be restored. The audio tour indicates that things are still under construction, but I wonder how long that has been the case.

Nice and worth seeing castle with good audio guidance, as a special feature you can meet the residents. One of the nicest castles in the Netherlands, the terrace and restaurant are also worth a visit, especially to eat the delicious freshly baked apple pie, not to mention the friendly service. So all in all, it is worth a visit, the Pieterpad walkers also come close to the castle.

What an incredibly beautiful and cozy castle. Upon entering we met the lady of the castle who is clearly very happy with the visitors, because they contribute to the maintenance of the castle. It's clearly a drop in the bucket, but every little bit helps. As if we were visiting, everything feels so homely. And you can feel the whole atmosphere that they really use the rooms. We wish the family a long and happy use of this beautiful cultural heritage.
