Absolutely amazing experience. Well worth a visit, the steaks are second to none and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the sirloin steak. Limited veggie options but what was on offer was very tasty.

What a fantastic experience at this restaurant on Damstraat. Everything was taken care of down to the last detail, and the quality of the dishes was truly outstanding. The shrimp, in particular, were perfectly prepared and beautifully presented on the plate. The brownie to finish was also a real treat, exactly how a dessert should be. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the delicious food. Highly recommended for everyone in Amsterdam.

Giving the service more stars than it deserve because we were lucky to get a waitress/server that was sweet and kind whereas the rest rolled their eyes, ignored us or were rude to us. Food was depressing. After enduring all the mean glares and chair kicking from the waiters, your food arrives and it's a piece of lonely subpar steak sitting on an empty white plate. I left that place unsatisfied and as soulless as the dishes we ordered.

The steaks are delicious. The mac and cheese is below average. The classic burger is good. The atmosphere is lovely, and the waiters, Babi and Ahmed, are very friendly and helpful, providing excellent service and ensuring we ordered enough food for our group. Great steak! We had the ribeye with peppercorn sauce and truffle fries. It was really good food. I wouldn’t say there was anything it didn’t like about the food. The service wasn’t great. It seemed like the waitress did not want to be there and got confused when we were asking about mocktails and didn’t ask us if we wanted any sauce. The furniture could do with updating as it doesn’t give restaurant vibes. Overall it was a great meal and I would recommend it if steak is what you want.

Ate here last week, there are dozens of steakhouses in Amsterdam, this one has consistently good reviews. The fillet steak here was top quality and perfectly cooked, nice sauces and sides and friendly cheerful service from everyone. The table next to me ordered a burger and it was huge, generous portion sizes too. Absolutely would return, thanks everyone.

The service was good, the steak was delicious, the best thing was the tenderloin.

Good place to stop for a meal. Nice selection of menu items. Had the ribeye. It met expectations and I was happy. Onion rings were a great compliment to the steak and finished it off with Dutch Apple Pies and ice cream.

Nowhere in the world does a steak order consist of just two pieces of meat on a large plate. It always comes with potatoes or a vegetable side dish. Unfortunately, that wasn't available here; it was a very bad presentation.

We were in CAU in November 2025 and had such a great experience! We were back in Amsterdam for a week , so a visit to CAU was a must. Why? Great food, a wonderful Italian waitress(and we were so happy to have her at our table again) and a wonderful atmosphere. The waitress really made the evening even better: helped to choose the right wine with our medallions. Everything was great. I would recommend this restaurant for sure!

Really good dining experience here! I had the chicken wings and baby potatoes, and both were absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The staff were quick, efficient, and very friendly, making the experience even better. Service was top notch, and the atmosphere was welcoming. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Good meat but extremely slow service => 30 minutes to receive the bill after finishing the meal

Sasha is the best waiter that everybody of our collueges have gothen we’re 19 people an they got delivery as fast as a plane and food as fast as a train. All my collugesses are very satisfyed. Reccommebdation 110%. Love this place.❤️❤️❤️

People working there are nice and friendly, but when it comes to food I regretted my choice of restaurant and I felt very sorry for the money I spent. We paid over 100 euros for 3 and we are still hungry and not satisfied with the food. We picked barbecue burger, steak and chicken…also fries served with burger were not fresh and steak was not served with anything and for a price over 30 it is quite small, but it is ok as taste is not super so you do not ask for more. If you charge this much, the quality should be waaaay better.

Great steak restaurant in a touristy area with prices to match. But the quality of the meal was worth the price. The service could have been better, and our waitress charged us a service charge (like they do in the States, which we didn’t expect or experience anywhere else in Amsterdam)

Had to send two steaks back (well-done instead o medium). The next batch of steaks were well prepared. The main problem though was that everything was extremely salty (and I like well-seasoned food, to be clear). Onion rings looked like they were crusted in salt. Even the salad tasted salty. Salty sauce. Oversalted the meat. It was a very disappointing experience, we used to really enjoy our meals at CAU.

We stumbled upon this little place unexpectedly. Delicious starters. The sushi was fresh and top-notch. The double cheeseburger is the best burger I have ever eaten. Good service and very friendly staff.

You can't ask for more from a good restaurant: great Japanese food, excellent service, and a perfect atmosphere. Thank you for everything, and I'll be back.

Great steak! The magnificent desert!

A lovely place that serves excellent meat, but... The service is masterfully conducted by Cristian, a Venetian with a big heart who goes out of his way to make you feel at ease, recommending the best dishes, good beers, and new additions to try. But...the best meat platter—four different cuts of excellent quality—is marred by the fact that it's served on a wooden cutting board and is completely cold after a few minutes: in my personal opinion, grilled meat should be eaten hot (at most lukewarm). So, either it's served with a hot griddle and plates—but I understand that the fumes could disturb customers— or, better yet, the four cuts should be served in succession: one at a time in a crescendo of flavor, as the raw material deserves.

Excellent, I recommend it 1000%. We were visiting the city and looking for somewhere to eat, and we were very lucky to stumble upon this restaurant. The service is phenomenal, and we had meat; it had been a long time since I'd had such good meat, it was on another level.

The reservation at CAU Steak Restaurant in Amsterdam went perfectly. I especially appreciated that the €10.00 booking fee per person, which I had paid in advance, was automatically deducted from the final bill. The service was attentive and impeccable, and the food was good. However, I'm deducting one star because the restaurant was very small, bustling, sometimes chaotic, and extremely crowded. This unfortunately detracted somewhat from the overall experience. All in all, though, it was still a good experience.

Host (Italian guy) was great…seated us quickly and provided excellent service, including recommending dishes, taking our order and serving up the food with perfect timing and attention. The food was to die for as well. Recommend this place if you’re hungry and want good food and service.

Very friendly staff gave us a good table after waiting only 5 minutes which they needed to clean the table. Food was exzellent, I had one of the best steaks ever and my wife had tender „fall of the bones“ ribs. Next time in Amsterdam we will definitely come back.

We were a bit worried because we had read reviews about the 10% surcharge, but that was absolutely not the case for us. This is one of the best Rib Eyes we have ever eaten. Perfectly cooked and perfect in flavor. If we lived closer, we would definitely come here more often. One minor downside: the mushroom sauce was a bit weak with few mushrooms, but otherwise everything was perfect. Both the fries and the truffle fries. Keep up the good work!!

Everything was perfect, we had a steak and it was incredibly delicious... recommended by the tall waiter... It was so good that we ate the steak and didn't even think to take a picture :) I only remembered halfway through the dessert... :) The prices are good, it's a comfortable place to have dinner in Amsterdam... 5 stars because we had a spontaneous and very enjoyable stay. Our waiter Christian was very courteous, humorous, and attentive. The food was excellent. We tried several dishes and nothing disappointed.The lychee mojito was the star of the evening, apart from our waiter Christian.

The food was superb. We both had the surf n turf. The fillet steak was perfection. The shrimp was great. We had fries and baby potatoes as side dishes. Will definitely eat here on our return to the Dam. Magnificent food in a great atmosphere.

Came here for my boyfriend’s 30th birthday meal, food was nice and well presented. I felt €4.40 for a 200ml Pepsi was a bit steep. Our server didn’t seem thrilled to be on shift that night. The lady who was at the door was friendly and welcoming though.

Our waitress was a bit rushy, you would start saying what you wanted to order and she would finish your sentence. Would also constantly ask “anything else?” even if you hadn’t finished speaking,cutting you off. It was not near closing time, so I don’t really understand what the need for the rushed service was. However the food was wonderful and paired well with the wine we picked from a lovely, full, extensive list. The music that was being played did not match the restaurant at all, a candle lit steak house but playing funky pop songs. Made the atmosphere a little strange. Sweet Caroline being played in this setting was beyond confusing.

Arrived on time and ordered food within 3 minutes. Over 35minutes to get 2 basic pizzas. 3 other groups who arrived after us had finished their as we were starting ours. Food wasn't hot. Waitress was not interested. Toilets taken up with non restaurant users. Must have arrived at a bad time! 😕

Extremely disappointed with this restaurant. Positive point: The food was good quality, although the portions were small. Negative points: 1/ The servers were neither courteous nor friendly, and were particularly misogynistic! 2/ For the prices charged, the servers should have a minimum level of professional competence and should therefore undergo proper training. Seeing the server's buttocks while he was serving another table is particularly inappropriate. 3/ The noise level was particularly loud and unpleasant.

I loved the restaurant, but above all I loved the service. In the middle of a very busy place, with many tasks and customers, a sweet voice and a brilliant waitress stood out from the noise, making you feel comfortable and well taken care of. With a warm smile, while still keeping up the pace of the service. An incredible job. Very bad talking with customers and no respect

I was absolutely thrilled! The steak was superb, but I especially want to commend the service. The service team was attentive, friendly, and always available without being intrusive. Our waitress immediately fulfilled all our requests, offered expert advice, and made sure we felt completely comfortable. A truly wonderful experience – we will definitely be back!

The decor is nice, and so is the staff. The steak was excellent but served without any sides; the avocado toast was good too. I'm taking off one star for the price; it's really expensive, especially the €7.50 for a portion of fries with cheese.

We popped into CAU last minute without a reservation and were fortunate enough to be seated right away. It's great that this is a steakhouse without the typical tourist traps you often see in Amsterdam. The food was excellent, although I personally missed the dame blanche on the dessert menu. The cocktails, on the other hand, were really strong and well-made! Like many places in the city, only English is spoken, but that's probably just "typical Amsterdam" these days. All in all, a good experience and definitely a nice place to have a relaxed meal without the crowds.

We went to CAU Steak House and overall we really enjoyed it. The food was delicious, although my steak wasn't quite cooked to my preferred medium doneness. Nevertheless, the flavor was excellent and the side dishes were also very good. The staff was very friendly, the atmosphere modern and pleasant, and the prices are absolutely reasonable for the quality. All in all, a great visit, I would definitely go again!

The food is excellent, the area inside could be lighter, it is very dark, moreover the wc was really bad.

Since the sirloin was cooked incorrectly, they kindly offered to remake the dish, but given the long waiting time, I preferred not to accept the offer.

Entered CAU steak restaurant without a reservation and was surprisingly given our table which the staff were very accommodating. Also, the waitress were so lovely and they tend to your need and make sure all is good with your food and beverages. Food was lovely and made ro perfection. The price are a tad bit over priced especially when only burgers are serves with fries and the rest of the menu isn't so mains if you were to get say a steak it's just a steak so just to let anyone know if they do pop in. I would of given 5 stars only issue I had was the toilets both men and women toilets doors are so close and wide open and no signs to say which is which and I wasn't the only customer confused and it's not pleasant if you were to walk by and see men using the urinals because you will see it no privacy also the toilets are very unhygienic. Other than that everything was to standard.

I was surprised with the reviews. This place does not deserve even a single star. All the staff were rude, our waitress was very rude and not welcoming. First, We ordered ribeyes which took 50 mins. Then the steak arrived with wrong cooking. The waitress called the manager which at least he was supposed to be polite, but unfortunately was rude and was trying to tell me that I was wrong. Do not go to this place. You will pay a lot for a worthless food and service

By far the best restaurant we went to during our 5 day trip to Amsterdam, in fact one of the best meals I've eaten full stop. Steak was cooked to perfection, burger was unreal and the parmesan chips were to die for. Actually booked again to go Thursday. Cant reccomend this place enough staff were super friendly lovely restaurant & food to die for. 😋
