Steaks are great and had great service.

Excellent steaks cooked to perfection with seasonal vegetables. Extremely friendly staff.

The opted for a 300g sirloin. It was a great cut and popped slightly when cutting it. Was very high quality meat. The best steak I've had in a very long time. Cooking precision was about a 7/10 but the meat was so good I didn't mind it being a little overcooked and not blood red rare.

The place is very central, the service is very good, the steak is very good, the hamburger is ok. We paid 100 euros for one steak, two hamburgers, one wine, two drinks.

Food was not presented as shown in pictures. Ordered a rib eye medium and got it well done and dry. Music was too loud considering it's a restaurant not a bar. Tourist trap.

Had a great dinner in CAU, ribeye was cooked perfectly and the Dutch apple tart for dessert was amazing. Really friendly and welcoming staff who looked after us while we were there, looking forward to coming back next time I'm in Amsterdam

The meat is cut with a little chimichuri sauce, perfect. The cooking is almost a little overcooked.

Many years ago, there used to be a Cau restaurant in Guildford in the UK, which we would visit on special occasions. I was surprised to see a Cau restaurant in Amsterdam so decided to give it a try and see if the chain is still great. Spoilers, it was. Started with BBQ chicken wings and had a steak with blue cheese sauce for mains, with fries. The BBQ sauce on the chicken almost had a teriyaki vibe to it and the steak, was perfectly cooked, amazing meat and the blue cheese sauce rounded it off nicely. Place was lovely, staff were friendly and I am giving four stars for the atmosphere, only because it was SO hot today and the restaurant's AC was not up to scratch. Top marks otherwise.

Reservations are a must. Great food, great venue.

I just left the restaurant after being badly received while looking for a table. We arrived in a group of 3, with my mom being the first to go inside. The waiter asked if we had a reservation but my mom doesn’t speak English so she didn’t understand - I heard and said we didn’t, and he sent us back to the door, asking us to wait. After checking the computer, he said there was only one table available - the one right at the door. Ok, we sat down. My mom wanted to have a sandwich, but only after we sat down, I noticed in the menu that they were only served until 5pm. At the same time, a group of 5 arrived and the waiter promptly took them to a table at the booth - offering to clean that one if they preferred, instead of a table at the back. It didn’t seem they had a reservation. Because my mom asked me to confirm, I asked the waiter and he was very short in his answer, leaving right after. We got up from the table and left even though I was looking forward to their burger.

The steak is absolutely delicious! Just make sure to reserve in advance, especially on weekends or during the high season. Worth to try !

It was simply wonderful. The staff is very attentive, despite being very busy, they are cheerful and energetic and very fast. We tried the hamburger and beer on the first day, and the fries that came with it were 100 times more delicious than the famous Amsterdam fries around. On our second visit, we tried the steak and wine. It was simply wonderful. We encountered a wonderful presentation of flavor with the flavor of the meat, the secret of the chef who cooked it and the magnificent energy of the staff who brought it to the table. If there were 10 stars, it would deserve 10 stars. We would like to thank Carlota and the restaurant owner for such great service.

I chose to have lunch at the restaurant because it was already a little late, and because it was what there were more customers. The attendants were very sympathetic, but I have to say that a restaurant that is named Steakhouse, the hamburger left much to be desired, very simple for the value it is. Potatoes were bad,tasteless fried in a city where fries are so famous. The juice was not natural, 5 euros in a supermarket juice, regrettable, Unfortunately, I do not recommend it, only in extreme cases.

I couldn't rate the food because they refused to serve me, saying the kitchen had been closed for 3 minutes. It's unpleasant, the price for steaks is the same as everywhere else, but the attitude is disgusting.

The burgers were good, but didn't completely convince me. The burger sauce was very reminiscent of ketchup. The atmosphere in the restaurant was rather bland.

Everything is very nice! The food is so good that you will want more! Definitely recipe getting the peppercorn sauce (don’t remember the exact time but something with pepper and corn - a but spicy) - it goes well with potatoes and meat as well. We had medallions and ribeye steak - both very delicious. The personal is also very kind and makes sure you have a good time there and that you enjoy your meal. You are welcomed and served quickly. The price is totally worth it! Update: have been here multiple times, and they never disappoint:)

A great restaurant in the middle of a tourist area and yet the quality of the meat is good.

The service was great, the food was delicious. The only thing I didn't like were the prices, which I think are very exaggerated.

I was very happy with the service initially but later had a very rude encounter. The peppercorn sauce lacked in my opinion and the green peas with chilli and mint actually was chilli and onion when it arrived. As for the steak I ordered a sirloin and asked for it blue. When the steak came it has not been trimmed properly. I removed all if the fat myself. Told the waiter who cleared the table and he sent the floor manager over. She was immediately very rude and just said it was my fault for ordering it blue and that they do not trim it there. For a steakhouse that is pretty poor as you should prepare the steak for how you need to cook it. I was not trying to complain just trying to let them know about the poor quality control and the reaction was super poor. I am a local not a tourist so will be spreading the word to steer clear.

Had an amazing experience at CAU! I ordered the Tira de Ancho steak and it was cooked to perfection—flavorful, juicy, and exactly what I was hoping for. What really made the visit special was the service. Anna took care of us and she was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Her warm attitude added so much to the overall experience. Highly recommend!

Great food here at Cau, plenty of cuts of steak to choose from, and if you are stuck, you can always get a sharing platter with different cuts. Well, worth a visit if you are in Amsterdam, I visited here with a group of 11 people and booked in advance to ensure we had a table available. Great attention from the staff and a warm friendly welcome too. Highly recommended and will certainly visit again when I return to the city.

Despite it being Easter and the place being full, they immediately found a table for us. If you like meat, this is your place. I'm not a fan of ribs... But here, when I saw them from the man next door, I had to order them and THE BEST DECISION! Delicious, the meat fell off the bone quickly and the sauce was incredible. My partner told me that the burger was also very good!

The steak and burger were delicious - the meat was juicy and everything was cooked to perfection. We were served by a very sweet, smiling and pleasant waitress. The menu is quite varied, there is plenty to choose from. We always prefer to sit on the terraces, but this restaurant is located on a very noisy, dirty and crowded one. There were bulls and napkins lying underfoot - it was unpleasant, as if I was near a public toilet. If the restaurant owner took some action on this matter and all this garbage was removed, that would be great.

Amazing food. The half chicken was juicy and full of flavor. The servers were attentive. And they have a good selection of wine.

I already knew this place and I had, I repeat, always had a great time. On the occasion of a dinner... however, exactly the opposite happens. Let's say certainly not satisfactory service... meat sold as a cut, instead a steak arrives... shame that my Brazilian diner knows meat very well... Basically paid a lot, ate badly

Each time the door opens, the whole place gets cold! The food is very expensive، and nothing is included or coming with your steak! You have to even pay 6€ for a little sauce. 19€ for a green salad 🥗!

We had a nice dinner here with a group. With pastries, steak, salad, french frites and apple pie with vanilla ice cream. Friendly hosts and a good atmosphere.

Fantastic service. Best i experienced in the whole of Amsterdam. Although everyone is friendly, the servers here just had something about them, a bit of passion and care for their job and customers, and I liked that. I came here with my husband and baby of 5 months, the moment we wanted to enter the staff gave us filthy looks. I was a little take back because Ive never experienced this. I walked in alone and my husband and baby stood at the door. I asked the lady friendly hii could we eat here with a baby? She looked doubtly around and indirectly turned me off. Will never go here again.

Food was brilliant, we had sirloin steak and the bbq burger, both cooked just as asked! The chips were lovely, and the corn on the cob! Service was great no issues, even though it was busy! Atmosphere was good, and overall would visit again :)

The service is bad, and the food isn’t what it used to be. Once they changed the chef, the restaurant went downhill. It was one of my favourite places in Amsterdam, very sad to witness this place turn to what it is today.

Not charcoal grill.!!!!!!!!!!Small restaurant with slow service, we asked the waiter(a guy sarcastic tired of his job) if is charcoal grill and he said yes, later when I go toilet I realised is flame grill, which it’s bad for a steak. I ordered medium stake and I got well done, there Was another waiter(a girl) she immediately recognised snd changed my stake, I took something else, which they haven’t made it as priority because, I had to wait another time(20min) just like I orderd not like they messed up and supposed to make it priority. Overall, not worth prices, 300gr ribeye 35€ and a flame grill is a scam. Also the aged period seems fake

If you can find a place in Amsterdam (there is no room in the evening), it is a preferred place to eat. It is generally crowded but it is not a very noisy place. I eat dinner there every evening when I go to Amsterdam and I recommend it.

Cau is a restaurant only suitable for carnivores. Here you will find all types of cuts of meat, for all tastes, with a high quality product. It is not a cheap restaurant, but the price is in line with the quality offered. The menu is extensive (yes, it is about meat, meat and meat and some other accompaniment). It's all very good and, if there's a drawback, it would be that the meat arrives without any type of garnish and that you have to order it (and obviously, pay for it) separately. But hey, it's a lesser evil for a great dinner. As for the service, it is fast and very professional. And if you are lucky enough to be served by Carlota, a friendly and very hard-working and attentive girl, you will have triumphed with an unbeatable dinner.

Excellent music, excellent atmosphere, beautiful food, and wonderful staff made my visit here an unforgettable experience. All I had was a grilled chicken sandwich, chips with parmesan and truffle mayonnaise, and a mandarin negroni, but it was the best sandwich, the chips were delectable, and the cocktail was perfection. Staff were very attentive and helpful, providing plenty of water, we didn't have to wait at all when we needed anything. The only negative I can thing of is the cost, it wasn't cheap. But, every other food establishment nearby is similarly priced, so given the quality of the food and service, I'd choose CAU Steak Restaurant again. I highly recommend going!

Our 4th time in Amsterdam and we were still looking for a truly good steak unlike the garbage steaks at the tourist trap restaurants. Finally found CAU based on a recommendation from a local friend. I had the 400g Ribeye and peppercorn sauce while my wife the 300g Sirloin with Chimichurri sauce with sides of baby potatoes sautéed in butter and mixed grilled vegetables. The steaks were perfectly cooked, very tender, and full of flavor. Easily the best steak we have had in Amsterdam by a long, long, long way. Will be back again 1 or 2 more times before we go home in another 10 days. Very friendly and attentive service from the staff. Highly recommended if you are a steak lover...

I'm not one to leave reviews or complain about restaurants or venues, but I left feeling very annoyed. The food was not bad, if a little expensive for what you get. However, what annoyed me was receiving the bill to see that I was charged 7.50 for a bottle of water. For context I was there with my partner, and when providing the order I had requested 2 large colas. The waitress then asked if I'd also like some water. If you offer water on the table in addition to other drinks which were already requested when taking an order, then it's definitely assumed that the water would be free. A small cup of sauce was also 4 euros. There is an option to tip when receiving the bill; needless to say there was no tip. Tipping is not typical in Europe as it is, this option is taking advantage of tourists who are not aware. The service wasn't even that good, and that's not taking the water scam into account. I know that Amsterdam is an expensive city, but this restaurant puts profit over customer. I should feel guilty to leave a 1 star review for any business looking to succeed, but this restaurant deserves it.

Very good steakhouse restaurant, the meat is really high quality and the cooking requested is well respected. The prices are a little high but they are quality products. All the staff were friendly except for one waitress at payment who was not forthcoming under the pretext that we wanted to pay in cash and she had no more change. We couldn't do otherwise and she ended up asking her colleagues.
