Cecconi’s Amsterdam in Burgwallen-Nieuwe Zijde

We had a great meal at this charming Italian restaurant. Centrally located and easily accessible. There's a nice atmosphere with live music. The tables are a bit too close together, so it quickly gets noisy. The service was friendly and the order was taken correctly. The bread and burrata appetizer was delicious. The pizza main course was also excellent. However, the homemade lemonade was far too sour; it felt like you were taking lemon with every sip and bite. A successful evening nonetheless!

This place is very overrated! The food was just ok, but so is Chef Boyardee. The food was not worth the price—definitely not a great experience. However, our server was excellent 🫤

We went there twice during our short trip to the beautiful Amsterdam ❤️. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and atmosphere was great, we even sat at the bar for the dinner but we love it. It’s not only the food, but also the experience and service we received from the amazing Daniela 💐, who really made us love the place and its food. Avoid, avoid, avoid. These people have no idea about Amsterdam atmosphere. We were not allowed to have our drinks standing at the bar. We were asked to sit down and so they killed any attempt to create a nice spontaneous vibe. Most guests are spoiled, dead families silently on their phones. Terrible vibe. Don't go here. Avoid!!

Amazing decor and some of the staff were really lovely! Other than that I'm afraid is a bit overrated. If you want a fancy and expensive dinner in a great location with silver cutlery, that's the place for you. If you want italian food that it's not overpriced and genuinly out of grandma's kitchen, you go somewhere else. Great place for drinks as the cocktails were really good, but coffee was terrible.

I had a very positive experience here. The decor and atmosphere are wonderful, and the service was attentive. It's also a big plus that they have long opening hours. My main feedback would be regarding the food; I believe there's room for improvement, especially with the Cacio e Pepe pasta.

Very nice Italian restaurant that I have on my list. The atmosphere is very nice. I went without previous booking but was seated as I am one person🤣. The food was very good. I tried the sea bass fish which was fresh and well cooked. The wine selection was good but limited selection for by glass wine. Worth visiting again.

Great atmosphere! The food was good, i tried the bruschetta and the cacio e pepe. Service very nice and polite. The only negative thing was the waiting time between the starters and the main dishes.

Great food & great atmosphere. A truly cozy yet very elegant setting. The service staff was extremely courteous and very attentive! The food was very good - unfortunately, there wasn't much choice. With the live band, it was a truly entertaining evening. The citrus sponge cake is especially recommended!

It was a dinner... Our order was a Margherita pizza, 2 burrata cheese plates, a pasta plate, a potato plate, a small plate of olives, a labneh with honey plate, a bottle of sparkling water, and a bottle of ginger water. It is recommended to book in advance. A 15 euro surcharge will be added to the total bill. The restaurant has delicious food, and the waiters are helpful. I recommend trying it. The restaurant is located inside Soho House.

Had the yummiest food at this place. We had the chef’s choice shared menu which was amazing and beyond. The atmosphere is very nice and the staff are so polite and welcoming.

Great atmosphere, however food quality and service have been considerably declining over time. We have visited the restaurant several times in the past years and noticed a decrease in quality. Given the price of its offering the atmosphere alone does not justify it. The waiters did not know the ingredients of the dishes, in general the service was quite poor (we had to order multiple times as orders got lost). Several mains, two out of four, were not available considerably reducing our choice. Unfortunately we won't go back and won't endorse Cecconi any longer.

The atmosphere in Cecconi was good. I have tried several Italian restaurants in Ams, but the meal here was normal and wasn't worth the price. The beef tartar was okay but not special. The bolognese pasta tasted plain and was a bit too soft.

Some of the (bar) staff don’t seem to have a clue what they are doing. Most of the Italian restaurant staff is quite good. But the only female there literally threw my desert on the table without even acknowledging my presence. Rude! Food is OK. But overpriced.

We didn't eat but we went in to ask for information for a dinner for a large group of people. The restaurant is really beautiful, furnished with care and attention to detail. We were served by a very kind girl who also speaks Italian, I don't remember the name now. She showed us some options and gave us some advice. For our request in particular we had to send an email and they answered us immediately. I can't rate the food, which will certainly be excellent but the service is impeccable.

Cecconi’s was one of the best restaurants we visited during our short stay in Amsterdam. The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed, and the service was truly 10 out of 10. I had the entrecôte with peppers and salsa verde — perfectly seared, packed with flavor, and cooked to perfection. My wife had the branzino with spinach, tomatoes, peppers, and olives — it was crispy, well-seasoned, and absolutely delicious. An unforgettable dining experience from start to finish.

Food was so-so. Many things not available (including gluten free pasta which was advertised and the reason we came). Service was inconsistent. Not terrible but definitely not up to expectation.

This place was recommended by everyone .. honestly overrated. Reservation is a must. Our reservation was at 9 (I think) but because the kitchen was closing - everything we got was either cold or burnt - and we made a big fuss about it - so they heated our pizza and changed our bolognese to Arribiatta Fasoli - and they gave us a lemon tart as an apology (which we appreciated)

Visiting Amsterdam and a friend took me to Cecconi’s Zoe was our server and took great care of us. She was prompt, attentive and friendly and the food was delicious! I will be returning and asking for Zoe

Esta fue mi tercera vez allí y aunque hasta ahora siempre había tenido una buena experiencia, desafortunadamente tengo que decir que me decepcionó mucho. Como teníamos una reserva para dos a las 9 de la noche y habíamos llegado demasiado temprano, primero tomamos una copa en el bar. At 8 . 50 pm la señora de recepción nos dijo que nuestra mesa estaba lista. Le explicamos que preferíamos primero terminar nuestra bebida y luego ir a nuestra mesa. 10 minutos más tarde el camarero fue a la señora de recepción para hacerle saber que estábamos listos para ir a la zona de restaurantes. Ella no reaccionó y solo esperamos a que nos dieran nuestra mesa. A las 9. 10 ella entonces vino y nos dijo que teníamos que pedir nuestra comida, ya que la cocina cerrará a las 9 . 15 . Explicamos que lo haríamos con mucho gusto si pudiéramos tomar asiento a la mesa, que habíamos reservado. Más tarde, llegó la comida, pero solo un plato (habíamos pedido dos platos de pasta). Preguntamos dos veces por el segundo plato y tuvimos que esperar de 10 a 15 minutos para que llegara. Cuando finalmente lo hizo, la porción del segundo plato era tan pequeña y servida en un plato diminuto, por lo que en realidad nos preguntábamos si nos habían servido las pequeñas sobras de pasta que se les podían ocurrir ya que la cocina había cerrado a las 9. 15 . Como «pequeño gesto», nos sirvieron un poco de pan de foccacia (que para mi sorpresa, durante mis dos primeras visitas, siempre se había servido gratis antes de que llegara su plato principal). En cuanto al postre, bueno ni siquiera pudimos pedir uno ya que no sirven ningún postre después de las 10. 15 pm. Si bien no puedo decir nada malo sobre el sabor de la comida en sí y las bebidas, el servicio fue realmente terrible. Si usted no puede pedir / servir cualquier comida sea a las 9. 15 pm o 10 . 15 pm, entonces simplemente no acepte reservas para las 9 pm.

Really overpriced food, so nothing special. Nice service

We had a really disappointing experience. The service was horrible—our server forgot about our drinks and wasn’t attentive at all throughout the meal. Some of the food even arrived cold, which was incredibly frustrating. To make matters worse, most of the dishes were bland and lacked any real flavor. Definitely not worth the price. Wouldn’t recommend.

Either the hostess was racist or this place has no idea of service. I was a solo walk in and on a Monday night despite all the tables being empty and reservations available online when I later checked, she refused to give me a table saying it was full. Later after I insisted she mumbled fine! And led me to the bar. What a joke. I have solo travelled all over the world and lived in Amsterdam for so long, never experienced this, hope this place goes bankrupt

The starters were very tasteful. Staff is amazing! Also the place itself is beautiful. Unfortunately, pasta dishes were very disappointing. Will come back, but only for the drinks and starters.

The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, but unfortunately, the food was disappointing. I ordered the entrecôte medium, but it came out rare. The pizza was burned, and the starter I ordered as minestrone turned out to be something else entirely. Overall, not a place I would return to.

This has been my favorite meal of our our Amsterdam experience! Flavors are masterfully centered in all the dishes. Portions are generous but most important, the ingredients are top notch and staff are very attentive. I'm plotting for a second visit just to try the Tagliatelle and Tuna Tartar. About the atmosphere, the open kitchen was entertaining, as a foodies/home chef. The decor is thoughtfully warm and inviting upfront, while being bring and engaging in the dining area.

Amazing traditional Italian, perfect veal Milanese and lobster spaghetti

Having been to the one in London, the food here is slightly disappointing especially for the price. But nice vibe and atmosphere is fantastic and drinks are great! The staff are phenomenal!

We had an incredible meal here after a couple of days of wandering around Amsterdam thinking maybe this just wasn’t a good food city. Incredible Italian food, as good as Italy! We had Aubergine parmigiana as a starter (amazing, and that sauce!), Bronzino that was perfectly cooked, light and crispy, and my husband had a pasta with lobster that was beautiful and he loved it. We’ll be back for sure.

Sunday Feast (last Sunday of the month) is highly recommended

Beautiful ambiance and friendly waiters. Vitello Tonnato was amazing. Update: Cecconi’s has a beautiful ambiance with stunning Art Deco furniture and grand windows, creating an inviting atmosphere. The staff is consistently friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall experience. I’ve been a regular for the past 3–4 years, and while the food is usually excellent, my last visit was a bit underwhelming. The Veal Milanese—arguably their best main course—was unavailable, despite our early 1:00 PM Monday reservation. The ricotta appetizer, previously paired with truffle honey, was replaced with a chili-based version, which didn’t quite hit the mark. The Melanzane was also off, and the lobster pasta was saltier and less spicy than usual. Cecconi’s remains a fantastic spot with a great vibe, but the kitchen needs to focus on consistency to avoid off days. Looking forward to seeing them back at their best!

Increíble restaurante, no estoy seguro de por qué no es un lugar de 5 estrellas. Fuimos en pareja y el servicio fue increíble y rápido, el servicio de comida fue rápido, y el prosseco era delicioso. La comida salió muy rápido y era muy fresco, tuvimos la pizza salami y la pasta de queso. Los ingredientes de la pizza se cayeron fácilmente, sin ser demasiado grasosos, lo que es un signo perfecto de ingredientes frescos. La factura solo llegó a 54 €, que incluía una propina del 10 %, para 2 tuberías, una botella de agua y 3 vasos de Prosecco. Lo único que mencionaría antes de recomendar este lugar es que si solo quieres agua del grifo, asegúrate de dejarlo más claro, ya que nos cobraron 6€. 50 por una botella. Aparte de eso, recomiendo masivamente este lugar.

Altijd een leuke en gezellige sfeer! Jammer dat iedereen Engels spreekt. Onze serveerster was super vriendelijk. Voorgerechten zijn erg duur. Carpaccio en bruschetta erg klein. Persoonlijk zou ik het overslaan. Alle pizza’s en pasta’s zijn heerlijk! Porties hoofdgerechten zijn groot. Tiramisu blijft het aller lekkerste als dessert. Toch jammer dat ze het niet aan je tafel komen serveren. Dat zou een persoonlijkere touch geven en beter passen bij de authentieke Italiaans sfeer die er hangt. Gezien de populariteit moet men oppassen dat ze dit niet verliezen. Soms erg rumoerig, vraag een tafel achterin als je met elkaar wilt kletsen. Tafeltjes die uit kijken over de grachten zijn het leukst!

Beautiful building and venue, but the food and service definitely left a lot to be desired. We were seated quickly, left with a menu only for a few minutes before the waiter was back asking what we wanted. We let them know we needed a little more time, but again they were back only about 2 minutes later. We ordered focaccia, the Bolognese and the Cacio E Pepe. The pastas came out in less than 5 minutes. The Bolognese was ok, nothing special but not awful. The Cacio E Pepe however was runny, the pasta was basically swimming in watery cheese and we were pretty sure it had cream or milk in it - which should not be in it! We actually finished our mains and waited an additional 10 minutes before our focaccia came out..... The focaccia was a starter and came out long after our mains were done! We thought perhaps it would be fresh since there had been such a delay, but it was not and we could actually see it sitting on the pass for a while. The chef was clearly not having a good day, and his tantrum was visible from in the restaurant. We would ordinarily order cocktails and dessert, but based on our experience until that point, we decided we didn't need anything else from them and went elsewhere.

Me encantaría haber revisado este lugar, pero por desgracia su sistema de reservas no permite y parecen excluir a los comensales individuales. Al intentar reservar para dos o más tienen mesas. Al llamar por teléfono para tratar de reservar para uno no cumplirían con la reserva. Hay un aire de arrogancia y snootiness en este lugar, así que encontré un lugar que me hicieron bienvenido.

Nice location, bad service. The English service was not friendly and very impersonal. We wanted to have a drink at the bar until we were complete. This was not allowed and we were always asked to go to the table. We could not choose from the menu because we were with a group (6 people).

We booked this table for 30 euros and never expected to be so disappointed. We'd love to say that the pizza was good but thay did not even offer some. Basically they didn't have half of the menu... When they finally brought the main course it was the wrong dish. But instead of apologizing and bringing us the right one they had to ask us THREE times if we are sure it's not ours. Only after showing us the menu they admitted that it was indeed the wrong food. On top of that the second glass of wine took ages to get to our table and they brought out dessert to the wrong table. Safe to say we were pretty disappointed in the service especially after spending 30 euros for the reservation. The food was good tho... In germany we call that a "bodenlose Frechheit".

Always had a good experience here except for today. Had a lunch at 12:00 and the restaurant was almost empty when we arrived. When we were seated on the couch, I noticed the couch was too low and found it very uncomfortable to sit and to eat while sitting so low. I asked for another table with a chair. The answer was: "those tables are for 5 persons and we expect to be full". I thought it was a strange comment as we only saw one other table occupied, but assumed all tables were probably reserved. The host offered a chair but could not sit next to my friend so it was not the best setting to have a conversation. When we left (almost 2 hours later), all the tables were still empty. I took a picture of it because I thought this is truly a bad customer experience for a high-end classy restaurant. If you weren't fully booked for lunch - why do you let your customers sit uncomfortably? We wouldn't have bother a single person if we'd move tables. Also, a waiter took away a dish while I was still eating and wasn't finished yet.. This was truly such a disappointment. At least let your customers finish their food before cleaning up or ask if you can take it away.. 1/10 for experience and service today.

The only downside is that almost all desserts contain alcohol and that is not stated on the menu. should definitely be on it! think of pregnant women, people who take medication, or simply do not consume alcohol. Fortunately, the server informed us of this in advance. All in all worth five stars!

What a proletarian food shack. We were put in the 'private dining' because there were more than 10 of us. That's fine, because then you don't have to sit among the bloated fluffy cats, who eat half a piece of spaghetti with their American sugar daddy without talking to each other, let alone laughing (or can you not laugh with so much Botox?). Only when we received the bill we had to pay a minimum payment of €1400 because of the private dining room. We had several cancellations and were nowhere near there. We also asked if we were not allowed to 'just' go into the restaurant. Wasn't possible because it was full of Pookie's & Jett's. In the end we had dinner for less than €1000, which is quite good for eight people. Nevertheless, the €1400 simply had to be paid. Even when we asked if we could reserve the next few days to spend the unspent €400. None of that. Incredibly unfriendly service from an incredibly inflexible ball tent. Oh my, why did I think I would eat at the Soho House, the most ridiculous invention of the social media era. Own fault, big expensive lump. But never again. I'd rather eat a dead pigeon from the paving stones on Dam Square.
