From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome. The staff is not only incredibly friendly but also clearly very knowledgeable. Their passion for their craft shines through in both the service and the wine recommendations. We were really looking forward to this meal since we heard good things and had high expectations- and Choux did not disappoint. I even made the mistake of assuming all dishes would be vegetarian (not true) and they accommodated me last minute which was incredible. All the staff we interacted with were excellent! Special shout out to Igor and their customer service- it was above and beyond :) The food was full of flavour, with really creative combinations which are rare to find in plant first cooking. All the dishes were so beautifully presented, and staff took their time explaining them to us which we appreciated. I only have the picture of the first course because we genuinely were just took busy enjoying all the others the moment they arrived!

It was a great experience and time at Choux. Especially, their vegetarian forward dishes made our evening. The selection of ingredient, freshness and the presentation was great. We did wine pairing as well and the wines were great and well paired with the dishes served. Many kudos to the people who served, it felt an experience at home with friends. So chill, so comforting yet very delicious. Loved it!

Last evening in Amsterdam and wanted to go out on a high. Choux did not disappoint. Wonderful food and staff and couldn’t have asked for more honestly. Had the 5 course menu with wine pairing and it was unbelievable. Venison jus out of this world. It is expensive, but truly worth the money.

Is this the best and most fun restaurant in town? In any case in the top 10. Food great, wines surprising. But especially the atmosphere and the service. How chill can you eat fantastically there. In terms of price/value really bizarrely good. The babis 5 courses is still under € 80. That is 3x as good food for 1.5 times the price. Go as soon as possible. Soon they will have a star, the food will remain good, but will the clientele remain so pleasant? Thanks. It was another great evening.

Ugh.. That I have never left a review after all these years. Of all the times (I think at least 6/7 times) I have never left disappointed. Dishes are always perfect, beautifully balanced and always a real work of art in terms of presentation. Service is fast and on point, nothing is missing. Wine list is of unprecedented level with beautiful natural wines. And all this in a relaxed atmosphere. I would give a thousand points if I could.

The food was very tasty and surprising, but the wine arrangement was very disappointing. Tasteless slobber and a self-indulgence. We did get an alternative, but that shouldn't be necessary. The portions are small and after 5 courses we still had an empty feeling in our stomachs. When we said something about it laughingly, the answer was 'you can order extra bread, right?' Great food, disappointing service I had high hopes for this restaurant based on the menu and food reviews — and I have to say, the food did not disappoint. Every dish we tried was flavorful, well-executed, and clearly made with care. The ingredients were fresh, and the plating was beautiful. It’s clear the kitchen team knows what they’re doing. Unfortunately, the service really soured the experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff seemed disinterested and inattentive. We waited far too long to be seated, and even longer to get our drinks. At no point did we feel welcomed or looked after. Simple requests were met with eye-rolls or forgotten entirely, and there was a general lack of professionalism and warmth throughout the evening. It’s a real shame — the food deserves better representation on the floor. With improved service, this place could be something special. But for now, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re very patient.

We had a great time at Choux! The 5 course meal was very innovative and unlike anything we had experienced before. The highlight, though, was their thoughtful and attentive service. I have slightly complicated dietary restrictions, and they accommodated them with ease and expertise. My partner had the menu as usual and they ensured that I had equally as delicious food that worked for me and my body. Overall, would definitely recommend if you are looking for something on the more expensive side and vegetable forward!

Just had dinner there with friends. Fine dining, the staff was extremely lovely and kind! The food was AMAZING: super fresh ingredients, different consistencies froths, crumbles, stocks, fresh crunchy vegetables, even the bread with butter was super (actually: sourdough bread and cultured whipped butter). Mostly vegetarian with a lot of earthy flavours. There is also a wide selection of drinks made by them and fermented. I was going to forget my dessert: truffle honey, french toast, cream cheese, cheese and another cheese with different ages and consistencies, incredible! (Not really sweet, more soury, different from a dessert we are used to, but amazing). I would recommend this to everyone! For those who are not sure to be "full" after the dinner: don't worry, you will definitely be! We had a 5 course menu+1 additional dish+some drinks, spent around 100€.

Still stunned by the news from Jonnie that reached us in the afternoon, we headed to Choux. Carpe diem, we told ourselves, and how beautiful it is to start with a tulip as an appetizer! Upon arrival we were asked to take a seat at a table near the entrance. A drafty place and the rest sat on the benches, which would also seem a lot more comfortable to me as a pregnant woman. A not very hospitable start. As a pregnant woman, I was given a sparkling aperitif that had already been opened the day before and from which the bubble had disappeared. At this level I would expect the sommelier/server to first taste whether it still has enough bubbles before serving it to guests. The green starter with ricotta was so lively that there was still an aphid on it. While mentioning this to the waiter, we asked for extra butter for the bread, and she forgot. Too bad, just after such a small incident you can make amends in a simple way, and she failed to do so. The rest of the dishes (scallop, something with a mushroom and a dish of lettuce were very good!). The piece was asparagus with tempeh and a delicious sauce, the asparagus was quite on the raw side. The cheese dish that my husband had, remeker with pain perdu, truffle and porcini mushrooms, was sublime and a real winner! Dessert was nice and fresh with buttermilk and rhubarb. It would be nice to get a menu with the dishes and ingredients listed, instead of having to order them at the table very quickly. NL and ENG are explained. In my opinion, the small chocolate with the coffee/tea could also have been 2 per person. All in all, I enjoyed it, but with a number of flaws that are not desirable at this level and could easily have been avoided.

Yesterday we enjoyed the 5 course menu with 2 extra dishes, the langoustines cru and the crème brulee epoisses This was exceptionally tasty and beautifully constructed in terms of taste and craftsmanship. We also drank a lot from the homemade non-alcoholic range, which was extremely complex and challenging! Nicely chosen!. With a glass of natural wine here and there. Exceptional place with all the serious chops of a michelin restaurant but without the snobby stuffiness. A+. Came here for a celebratory date night on a Tuesday evening and were blown away. From beginning to end the service staff treated us with the kind of self-assured-but-not-arrogant yet friendly service that only comes from lots of training and experience. Though we had several servers tend to our table throughout the 2.5 hours we dined, our primary server (wish we could remember her name) was such a pro. One of those experiences where you felt you in were in the most capable hands, where nothing could possibly go wrong. The food was insanely good. Feels weird to call it simply "food" when each course was more an all encompassing revelatory experience than just, like, eating. We literally closed our eyes during bites. We've eaten asparagus a million times in our lives, for example, but our first course of green asparagus with thinly sliced pickles and "the first strawberries of the season" had us thinking we were trying this alien vegetable with an unreal crisp texture for the first time. Hard to put into words how good this dish was. I'm already forgetting to mention the amuse bouche of broccoli florets with some kind of crispy cereal attached to the buds we were encouraged to eat with our hands - an amazing start. The following courses included a mushroom zabaglione, an incredible scallop sashimi dish, a main course of egg yolk in a purse of something I'm forgetting with chanterelles - all wonderful. We are so glad we opted for the extra course which consisted of french toast layered with whipped cheese in a puddle of truffled syrup, brought out to us by one of the dessert chefs - we thought we were tripping it was so good. Wish we had a pic of the dessert course because it was also exceptional, but we gobbled it up too fast. We weren't drinking alcohol at the time but to our surprise they had that covered too - every single course came with its own zero proof pairing made in house. The last one - their approximation of a red wine, with a base of beet juice - had a complex, savory quality that reminded me of kvass and was utterly delicious and I wish they would share the recipe with me? Only slight critique is the decor, which in our opinion doesn't match the creativity and care of everything else. Incredible place, will definitely be back.

Wow! What a wonderful place. The dishes are all well thought out and very tasty. They are also real works of art. The service is knowledgeable and friendly. The acoustics of the restaurant are also very pleasant, you can hear each other well even when it is completely full. My favorite dishes are the asparagus with strawberries and the slow-cooked scallops.

Restaurant beautiful. Soup was half a cup miso broth. I had squid with XO sauce. Texture could have been rice noodles. When I eat vegetables, I like to recognize or taste what kind of vegetables. A vegetable pancake could also have been just dye. The venison steak 3 very small pieces size of 3 half fingers. Dessert ice cream with minced herbs why? I’m not a big eater, the portions where very small. I was still hungry.

In dit restaurant komen wij al jaren regelmatig. Eten: Erg lekker. Verrassende smaken. Prachtige combinaties. Heerlijk. Bediening: Professioneel, gastvrij en vriendelijk. Wijnen: Dit zijn volgens ons natuurwijnen. Meedere keren geprobeerd maar helaas niet ons ding. Wijnen (zowel rood als wit) zijn over het algemeen troebel en tamelijk wrang. Wel jammer, want een glas wijn meer naar onze smaak bij dit eten zou fijn zijn. Desalniettemin blijven wij hier terugkomen. Dit restaurant verdient een ster, maar hopelijk gebeurt dit niet. Het zou ten koste gaan van de ongedwongen sfeer en teveel snobs aantrekken.

Excellently worked tasting menu, with great service and good atmosphere (slightly cold inside though, but it was December!). We had the five-course tasting menu which was delicious and well-presented - all food is seasonal and has excellent flavours. There are options for meat or vegetarian tasting menus. Food well explained by attentive and welcoming staff. Nice vibe inside, exposed style and open-plan.

Choux is absoluut een van de beste restaurants van de stad. Wij komen hier nu al meer dan 10 jaar, de kwaliteit is constant, het is altijd vol, het wachten is op een Michelin ster. Bediening is uitstekend: vriendelijk, attent en goed gevoel voor timing. De plek is mooi, en je kunt elkaar gewoon verstaan. Publiek is jong, meer vrouwen dan mannen toen wij er gister waren. Het eten is geweldig! Amuse van oesterschuim, zeeduivel, paddestoelen gerecht met beurre blanc, schelvis, crème brulde van reblochon en appel dessert toe. We hadden echt een fantastische avond. Zoals altijd.

We are vegetarians, and we do not drink alcohol. Choux had us covered though! We had the 3 course dinner, and they brought housemade juices and kombuchas, thoughtfully paired with each course. Very friendly staff. Affordable for upscale dining. Highly recommend!

Gelokt door een artikel in 'Het Parool', waarin de journalist zijn verbazing uitsprak over het feit dat Choux weer geen Michelinster werd toegekend (ook de chef weet niet meer wat hij moet doen om een ster te verdienen), mijn broer vanwege zijn verjaardag getrakteerd op een etentje daar. Een tegenvaller. Choux is een matig restaurant, zeker geen Michelin ster waard. De start was al verkeerd. Om 18.00 uur afgesproken, maar was er iets over half zes. Werd mij de deur gewezen. "Ga maar een biertje drinken bij het cafe op de hoek, en kom over een half uurtje terug". Ze waren nog niet open, nog even bezig met werkoverleg. So much for hospitality. Het cafe bleek dicht.... Op straat mijn broer tegengekomen, en rond 18.00 uur de gang naar Choux ingezet. Bleken er meerdere gasten voor de deur op de stoep te wachten totdat de deur open ging. Al eerder opgemerkt, maar toch... beetje onwaardig allemaal. Alsof het restaurant belangrijker is dan de gasten. Bediening was vriendelijk, de amuse was prima en beloofde veel. Maar daarna viel het eten tegen, zeker als je vaker hebt gegeten in restaurants die wel een Michelin-ster (of meerdere) is (zijn) toegekend. Op zich best goed en lekker, maar geen verfijning, zowel in opmaak als in smaak. Te grof, en soms zeer uitgesproken zodat het scherp wordt. Heb een gang gehad die een soort peulvruchten of noten als ondergrond had. Dus niet als accent, maar als daadwerkelijk groot onderdeel van de gang. Te veel van het goede. Gebakken baars, weliswaar netjes gebakken, maar niets meer dan gebakken baars. En een gang met een wat uitgesproken dunne jus, die redelijk scherp van smaak was. Als toetje een flensje met gesmolten kaas.... En dat was het ook, een opgevouwen flensje met gesmolten kaas. Als het ontvangen van een Michelin ster zijn ambitie is, lijkt het me handig als de chef een keer bij een restaurant gaat eten die die dat genoegen al een keer heeft mogen smaken. Dan begrijpt hij wat ik bedoel, en ook in welke richting hij zich moet ontwikkelen. Zoals het nu is, is Choux voor mij een eenmalige ervanring.

Both Grimm and Broekaert were surprised that Choux had not received a star, which is why they decided to travel again. And then a somewhat complex story follows, with two warnings and a point of principle. Mara Grimm reports in her article that at star tents it is no longer the case that you have to go to the chip shop on the corner after dinner. Well, it probably didn't help that we had a theater menu (3 courses), but I was so hungry afterwards. And how could it be otherwise after a piece of beetroot, a piece of fish and a panna cotta. All very responsible and certainly at star level, but afterwards it really took 2 bapaos to stay on their feet. And then the wines. These are almost all natural wines (and that's not my thing again) and they are expensive. The sommelier was kind enough to let us taste it and thank goodness. It turned out fine, but the wines start at 50 euros and I think that is (too) expensive. Finally, pay for water. Immediately upon arrival, a friendly lady stood at our table asking "flat or sparkling?" So not, "Do you want water?" My point is that you have to pay for water here (point of principle), not to mention the fact that I don't drink water. Then, as far as I'm concerned, such an innocent question will be seen in a different light. My dining companion said "flat", I said "I don't drink water". The bill stated 2 x water (was corrected). Long story short: tap water should be served for free.

We had an amazing experience with Choux. Not only was the food amazing and an incredible experience but my girlfriend was feeling unwell and the staff were so generous and helpful. They allowed us to rebook for the following day even though we had already had one of the courses. It was the most kind and thoughtful customer service I have experienced and the food itself was mind blowing. Special mention for the plum based dessert although all courses were great.

If I could give the food 6 stars, I would. We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Choux, with the five-course tasting menu, opting for everything vegetarian. Everything was fantastic and flawless, as vegetarians it can be difficult to find a fine dining experience that honours vegetables but the Choux team delivered. We also enjoyed the botanical juices and infusion pairings, a welcome alternative to win pairings and a unique experience for us. I would highly recommend Choux to anyone looking for a vegetable-centric fine dining experience!

The dishes are very tasty and beautifully prepared! But 5 small dishes is a bit too little. They also forgot the sandwich at first. So we did need that 😕 The service is attentive, friendly and involved. The wine, on the other hand, is really undrinkable! Sour natural wine, which really weakens the whole experience. All in all, not recommended.

Le premier et meilleur dîner de tout notre séjour. Restaurant charmant un peu à l’écart de la folie de l’hyper centre. Jolie déco avec un corner caviste. Avons choisi la formule 4 plats ( pré entré et mignardise en plus) . Très bon choix de vins au verre. Les plats étaient tous délicieux, excellente maîtrise de l’acidité, de nouvelles saveurs aussi… restaurant à tester absolument. Un grand merci à toute l’équipe pour ce merveilleux moment.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience dining solo at Choux. Each course presented an unexpected combination of flavors – some familiar, some I couldn't place even after the server had just explained to me everything that was in the dish. Immediately forgetting much of what I was eating may have worked in my favor, as I was able to detach from my expectations and just enjoy a completely invigorating sensory experience. Each course presented something as appealing to my eye as to my tongue, an exciting adventure all around. There was plenty of time between each course, probably more than I would've liked. Altogether, my 5 course dinner took around 2 and a half hours. I only wish I'd brought a book to read between courses and people-watching. The atmosphere was distinct. The design of the restaurant was industrial yet laid back. Rustic wood decorated the walls amidst tiles and concrete. A beautiful bright red ceiling balanced the slate gray of the floors. As a solo diner, I enjoyed taking it all in, watching the staff's impressive coordination and attentiveness as they moved through the dining area. My only qualm with the space itself was the bathrooms – clean enough, but between the small space and its position next to the coat rack, it felt a bit closet-like. At 70 euros (not including wine pairings or other extras), the 5-course [vegetarian] menu was a more than worthwhile experience. Those dishes will stick with me, and they left me feeling inspired to seek out more adventures for my palate. Highly recommend.

Tuve una cena increíble en Choux en mayo de 2024 Comida de servicio, calidad eran increíbles. El ambiente del restaurante es casual incluso frío: ) Tomé su menú de 5 platos (5 gangen) con plato extra de coquille (ordenado en base a recomendación y fin de su tiempo en el menú) acompañado de 5 culos de vino y cava como bebida extra de partida. Pagué 169 euros, pero valió la pena, ya que era un momento de celebración para mí y el equipo de Choux era perfecto. Estos son los detalles: El bouche de diversión consiste en Jugo de algas ahumadas azúcar snap pea Tartalotte con frijoles verdes crema ricota hechos en casa Pan casero y mantequilla era delicioso donde la mantequilla es crema agria batida con sal 1 plato de calle es espárragos verdes prensados y espárragos verdes reales servidos con suero de leche picante Afuera hay pera crujiente Encima había tomillo limón y hierbas y enebro Simplemente increíble 2o plato fue el plato extra de vieira de los Países Bajos ligeramente cocinado y bottarga de vieira y huevas añadidas como gotitas pequeñas y este plato se sirvió vino de Georgia 🇬🇪 El siguiente plato fue en forma de rosa hecho de remolacha y el centro del mismo consiste en rojo, verde blanco la parte superior fue decorada con ruibarbo cuadrado encurtido Dentro de los pétalos de rosa (pétalos de remolacha) había un poco de ralladura de limón, jengibre y la salsa contenía aceite de grosella negra 3er curso era carbón ártico seco envejecido ahumado un poco en heno Kohi fermentado con camomila de espuma y aceite de flor de cerezo de bergamota Debajo de brotes de brócoli de cilantro verde, pimienta timut y tomate 😋 Otra vez tomé media copa de vino de Georgia En el siguiente plato, me sirvieron un vino veneciano Merlot y la comida estaba llena de setas morcilla debajo del plato había una galleta de queso, hierbas de guisante verde dulce y la salsa contenía sabayón de espárragos blancos, aceite de flor de saúco Flores de Ramson, espárrago blanco vidriado Extraordinariamente delicioso El 5o plato era como plato principal. Vege focussed restaurants might have a less than enthusiastic following, especially if they aspire to a higher standard, but Choux definitely deserves the rating that many people prior to me are giving them. Whatever my expectations, they were exceeded. The food was awesome. The service was great. And the wine pairing was very well done. Service, food and presentation were all above and beyond expectations. I would be happy to go back the next time I have the opportunity.

This restaurant is all show and no substance. We've eaten tasting menus many times in many different countries so we aren't strangers to this type of dinner. While the flavors were good, especially the sauces, the execution was terrible. Small portions are expected at a pre-set menu, but these were just bites. They also took 10-15 minutes between each of the 4 courses. Most were served room temperature with the main fish course coming out cold. The waiter repeatedly tried to upsell us on additional options such as caviar on top of a dish or if we wanted cheese in between. Is this a pre-set menu or not? Did you intend for it to have caviar or not? Between every course he tried to sell us on something he might as well just give us menus to order from. It really ruined the whole point of a tasting menu. We left starving.

Nomads aan het IJ was echt een topervaring! Elk gerecht voelde als een kleine explosie van smaken, compleet gemaakt met de heerlijke bijpassende wijnen. De sfeer is relaxed, prachtig uitzicht over het water en supervriendelijk personeel. Ik kom hier sowieso nog eens terug als ik weer in Nederland ben!

Reservamos este restaurante para nuestra primera noche de estancia en Amsterdam. ¡Qué hallazgo! Pequeño restaurante, ambiente encantador no es un menú extenso, pero. ¡La comida era fabulosa! El personal era agradable, amable y servicial. Recomendaciones de vino muy buenas. No puedo calificar esto lo suficiente. Muy recomendable.

What a charming bistro! At first, we thought, "Where have we ended up?" The location is in an alley, and the terrace is on the sidewalk by the water. However, the service was incredibly friendly and kind, and the food was delicious and unlike anything you'd find everywhere. The only downside was the dessert. We ordered the strawberry cheesecake crumble, which turned out to be just strawberries with whipped cream (for €10). Otherwise, it was fantastic!
