Premium place with seriously good food.

We had the vegetarian version of their 5 course tasting menu, and it was fantastic, delicious, amazing! The restaurant is using unusual (for us, at least) ingredients and it led us to some really interesting discoveries. Would recommend, 100%

Culinary gem in Amsterdam, offering produce-focused seasonal tasting menus. Food is outstanding, the flavour combinations and presentation are both creative and impeccable, every course was delicious. Staff is very friendly and attentive, adding to the welcoming and cozy atmosphere of the place. Highly recommend!

Fine vegan menu, but also good menus for everybody. Like the building up of the 5 course menu. Was seated near the kitchen, great to see everybody working hard on our great menu.

The Binnenstebuiten program paid attention to Choux. I made a reservation immediately. The ambiance is great, the service very good, the 5-course dinner was, in one word, AMAZING! In dit restaurant komen wij al jaren regelmatig. Eten: Erg lekker. Verrassende smaken. Prachtige combinaties. Heerlijk. Bediening: Professioneel, gastvrij en vriendelijk. Wijnen: Dit zijn volgens ons natuurwijnen. Meedere keren geprobeerd maar helaas niet ons ding. Wijnen (zowel rood als wit) zijn over het algemeen troebel en tamelijk wrang. Wel jammer, want een glas wijn meer naar onze smaak bij dit eten zou fijn zijn. Desalniettemin blijven wij hier terugkomen. Dit restaurant verdient een ster, maar hopelijk gebeurt dit niet. Het zou ten koste gaan van de ongedwongen sfeer en teveel snobs aantrekken.

Excellently worked tasting menu, with great service and good atmosphere (slightly cold inside though, but it was December!). We had the five-course tasting menu which was delicious and well-presented - all food is seasonal and has excellent flavours. There are options for meat or vegetarian tasting menus. Food well explained by attentive and welcoming staff. Nice vibe inside, exposed style and open-plan.

One of the best restaurants in Amsterdam. Beautiful subtle and original flavours, very welcoming and comfortable seating. Once you've been, you'll want to make another reservation immediately.

Food and drinks are lovely, the service could be improved

Choux is absoluut een van de beste restaurants van de stad. Wij komen hier nu al meer dan 10 jaar, de kwaliteit is constant, het is altijd vol, het wachten is op een Michelin ster. Bediening is uitstekend: vriendelijk, attent en goed gevoel voor timing. De plek is mooi, en je kunt elkaar gewoon verstaan. Publiek is jong, meer vrouwen dan mannen toen wij er gister waren. Het eten is geweldig! Amuse van oesterschuim, zeeduivel, paddestoelen gerecht met beurre blanc, schelvis, crème brulde van reblochon en appel dessert toe. We hadden echt een fantastische avond. Zoals altijd.

We are vegetarians, and we do not drink alcohol. Choux had us covered though! We had the 3 course dinner, and they brought housemade juices and kombuchas, thoughtfully paired with each course. Very friendly staff. Affordable for upscale dining. Highly recommend!

Amazing to find a restaurant that easily accommodated our eating and drinking preferences yet still made everything special. Not a bad dish served.

Gelokt door een artikel in 'Het Parool', waarin de journalist zijn verbazing uitsprak over het feit dat Choux weer geen Michelinster werd toegekend (ook de chef weet niet meer wat hij moet doen om een ster te verdienen), mijn broer vanwege zijn verjaardag getrakteerd op een etentje daar. Een tegenvaller. Choux is een matig restaurant, zeker geen Michelin ster waard. De start was al verkeerd. Om 18.00 uur afgesproken, maar was er iets over half zes. Werd mij de deur gewezen. "Ga maar een biertje drinken bij het cafe op de hoek, en kom over een half uurtje terug". Ze waren nog niet open, nog even bezig met werkoverleg. So much for hospitality. Het cafe bleek dicht.... Op straat mijn broer tegengekomen, en rond 18.00 uur de gang naar Choux ingezet. Bleken er meerdere gasten voor de deur op de stoep te wachten totdat de deur open ging. Al eerder opgemerkt, maar toch... beetje onwaardig allemaal. Alsof het restaurant belangrijker is dan de gasten. Bediening was vriendelijk, de amuse was prima en beloofde veel. Maar daarna viel het eten tegen, zeker als je vaker hebt gegeten in restaurants die wel een Michelin-ster (of meerdere) is (zijn) toegekend. Op zich best goed en lekker, maar geen verfijning, zowel in opmaak als in smaak. Te grof, en soms zeer uitgesproken zodat het scherp wordt. Heb een gang gehad die een soort peulvruchten of noten als ondergrond had. Dus niet als accent, maar als daadwerkelijk groot onderdeel van de gang. Te veel van het goede. Gebakken baars, weliswaar netjes gebakken, maar niets meer dan gebakken baars. En een gang met een wat uitgesproken dunne jus, die redelijk scherp van smaak was. Als toetje een flensje met gesmolten kaas.... En dat was het ook, een opgevouwen flensje met gesmolten kaas. Als het ontvangen van een Michelin ster zijn ambitie is, lijkt het me handig als de chef een keer bij een restaurant gaat eten die die dat genoegen al een keer heeft mogen smaken. Dan begrijpt hij wat ik bedoel, en ook in welke richting hij zich moet ontwikkelen. Zoals het nu is, is Choux voor mij een eenmalige ervanring.

One of the best meals I have ever had. I'm counting the days until we're back in Amsterdam. This will be our destination on the very first night.

Both Grimm and Broekaert were surprised that Choux had not received a star, which is why they decided to travel again. And then a somewhat complex story follows, with two warnings and a point of principle. Mara Grimm reports in her article that at star tents it is no longer the case that you have to go to the chip shop on the corner after dinner. Well, it probably didn't help that we had a theater menu (3 courses), but I was so hungry afterwards. And how could it be otherwise after a piece of beetroot, a piece of fish and a panna cotta. All very responsible and certainly at star level, but afterwards it really took 2 bapaos to stay on their feet. And then the wines. These are almost all natural wines (and that's not my thing again) and they are expensive. The sommelier was kind enough to let us taste it and thank goodness. It turned out fine, but the wines start at 50 euros and I think that is (too) expensive. Finally, pay for water. Immediately upon arrival, a friendly lady stood at our table asking "flat or sparkling?" So not, "Do you want water?" My point is that you have to pay for water here (point of principle), not to mention the fact that I don't drink water. Then, as far as I'm concerned, such an innocent question will be seen in a different light. My dining companion said "flat", I said "I don't drink water". The bill stated 2 x water (was corrected). Long story short: tap water should be served for free.

Choux is and remains fantastic. Exciting, tasty dishes, very attentive service and a nice atmosphere. I keep coming back.

We had an amazing experience with Choux. Not only was the food amazing and an incredible experience but my girlfriend was feeling unwell and the staff were so generous and helpful. They allowed us to rebook for the following day even though we had already had one of the courses. It was the most kind and thoughtful customer service I have experienced and the food itself was mind blowing. Special mention for the plum based dessert although all courses were great.

One of the best meals we've ever had. We added an optional course which was incredible, and did NA pairings which we loved. Fantastic service, not too fancy, just a really lovely and delicious experience.

The dishes are very tasty and beautifully prepared! But 5 small dishes is a bit too little. They also forgot the sandwich at first. So we did need that 😕 The service is attentive, friendly and involved. The wine, on the other hand, is really undrinkable! Sour natural wine, which really weakens the whole experience. All in all, not recommended.

If I could give the food 6 stars, I would. We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Choux, with the five-course tasting menu, opting for everything vegetarian. Everything was fantastic and flawless, as vegetarians it can be difficult to find a fine dining experience that honours vegetables but the Choux team delivered. We also enjoyed the botanical juices and infusion pairings, a welcome alternative to win pairings and a unique experience for us. I would highly recommend Choux to anyone looking for a vegetable-centric fine dining experience!

Le premier et meilleur dîner de tout notre séjour. Restaurant charmant un peu à l’écart de la folie de l’hyper centre. Jolie déco avec un corner caviste. Avons choisi la formule 4 plats ( pré entré et mignardise en plus) . Très bon choix de vins au verre. Les plats étaient tous délicieux, excellente maîtrise de l’acidité, de nouvelles saveurs aussi… restaurant à tester absolument. Un grand merci à toute l’équipe pour ce merveilleux moment.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience dining solo at Choux. Each course presented an unexpected combination of flavors – some familiar, some I couldn't place even after the server had just explained to me everything that was in the dish. Immediately forgetting much of what I was eating may have worked in my favor, as I was able to detach from my expectations and just enjoy a completely invigorating sensory experience. Each course presented something as appealing to my eye as to my tongue, an exciting adventure all around. There was plenty of time between each course, probably more than I would've liked. Altogether, my 5 course dinner took around 2 and a half hours. I only wish I'd brought a book to read between courses and people-watching. The atmosphere was distinct. The design of the restaurant was industrial yet laid back. Rustic wood decorated the walls amidst tiles and concrete. A beautiful bright red ceiling balanced the slate gray of the floors. As a solo diner, I enjoyed taking it all in, watching the staff's impressive coordination and attentiveness as they moved through the dining area. My only qualm with the space itself was the bathrooms – clean enough, but between the small space and its position next to the coat rack, it felt a bit closet-like. At 70 euros (not including wine pairings or other extras), the 5-course [vegetarian] menu was a more than worthwhile experience. Those dishes will stick with me, and they left me feeling inspired to seek out more adventures for my palate. Highly recommend.

Outstanding meal and every course was fantastic. The sauces and the tastes were delicate as were the presentation. We loved the laid back feel but service was excellent and very friendly. We will be back again. Thank you!

El ambiente del restaurante es casual incluso frío: ) Tomé su menú de 5 platos (5 gangen) con plato extra de coquille (ordenado en base a recomendación y fin de su tiempo en el menú) acompañado de 5 culos de vino y cava como bebida extra de partida. Pagué 169 euros, pero valió la pena, ya que era un momento de celebración para mí y el equipo de Choux era perfecto. Estos son los detalles: El bouche de diversión consiste en Jugo de algas ahumadas azúcar snap pea Tartalotte con frijoles verdes crema ricota hechos en casa Pan casero y mantequilla era delicioso donde la mantequilla es crema agria batida con sal 1 plato de calle es espárragos verdes prensados y espárragos verdes reales servidos con suero de leche picante Afuera hay pera crujiente Encima había tomillo limón y hierbas y enebro Simplemente increíble 2o plato fue el plato extra de vieira de los Países Bajos ligeramente cocinado y bottarga de vieira y huevas añadidas como gotitas pequeñas y este plato se sirvió vino de Georgia 🇬🇪 El siguiente plato fue en forma de rosa hecho de remolacha y el centro del mismo consiste en rojo, verde blanco la parte superior fue decorada con ruibarbo cuadrado encurtido Dentro de los pétalos de rosa (pétalos de remolacha) había un poco de ralladura de limón, jengibre y la salsa contenía aceite de grosella negra 3er curso era carbón ártico seco envejecido ahumado un poco en heno Kohi fermentado con camomila de espuma y aceite de flor de cerezo de bergamota Debajo de brotes de brócoli de cilantro verde, pimienta timut y tomate 😋 Otra vez tomé media copa de vino de Georgia En el siguiente plato, me sirvieron un vino veneciano Merlot y la comida estaba llena de setas morcilla debajo del plato había una galleta de queso, hierbas de guisante verde dulce y la salsa contenía sabayón de espárragos blancos, aceite de flor de saúco Flores de Ramson, espárrago blanco vidriado Extraordinariamente delicioso El 5o plato era como plato principal. Vege focussed restaurants might have a less than enthusiastic following, especially if they aspire to a higher standard, but Choux definitely deserves the rating that many people prior to me are giving them. Whatever my expectations, they were exceeded. The food was awesome. The service was great. And the wine pairing was very well done. Service, food and presentation were all above and beyond expectations. I would be happy to go back the next time I have the opportunity.

Yesterday we enjoyed the 5 course menu with 2 extra dishes, the langoustines cru and the crème brulee epoisses This was exceptionally tasty and beautifully constructed in terms of taste and craftsmanship. We also drank a lot from the homemade non-alcoholic range, which was extremely complex and challenging! Nicely chosen!. With a glass of natural wine here and there. Very tastefull dishes. Good wine pairings. Politie and friendly service. Very easy going. Enjoyed it a lot. Decoration of the restaurant is simple but comfortable.

This restaurant is all show and no substance. We've eaten tasting menus many times in many different countries so we aren't strangers to this type of dinner. While the flavors were good, especially the sauces, the execution was terrible. Small portions are expected at a pre-set menu, but these were just bites. They also took 10-15 minutes between each of the 4 courses. Most were served room temperature with the main fish course coming out cold. The waiter repeatedly tried to upsell us on additional options such as caviar on top of a dish or if we wanted cheese in between. Is this a pre-set menu or not? Did you intend for it to have caviar or not? Between every course he tried to sell us on something he might as well just give us menus to order from. It really ruined the whole point of a tasting menu. We left starving.

My wife and I had a fun night at Choux. Great service in a lively setting. We had a five course dinner and opted to pass on the wine pairing and order a bottle. I was a little disappointed in my wine choice though. Totally my choice. The food was very good and creative. I felt that the dishes were vegan oriented and their website certainly said that.

We had an incredible and unique experience at Choux on our Honeymoon. The flavors and presentation were impeccable and the staff were incredibly considerate and kind. We enjoyed the entire experience from start to finish and would recommend to anyone visiting Amsterdam!

The food was below my expectations. The dish with eggplant and courgette was subpar.The presentation of the dish was also bad, it looked weird and unappealing. It started on great note, first 2 dishes were great, but then it started changing. The dearest could have been better if there it was less sour and there was hint of mint in it. It is hard to makeup my mind again to try it out.

Far (far far far) better than expected! Even though Choux does not have a star, the quality of the food is absolutely worthy of a Michelin star! I have eaten in many restaurants with 1 star and lower quality. Absolutely recommended!

Very flavorful food, very nice ambience and the personnel also very friendly! Although i am not personally a fun of the natural wines served and i would never choose natural wines, the person who did the pairing did an absolutely wonderful job!

Worth the read but this is going to be extensive I have been living in Amsterdam for 3 years now and this is by far one of the best dinners i have experienced in the city. We opted for the full 5 course and wine pairing which i highly recommend! Each course was served by someone different who provided detail and excitement. It was fresh, unique and exciting throughout the night. As a foodie i often try to analyse how i could replicate dishes at home but this was like watching a magic show. It was so great that you just enjoyed the show and didnt really care how the magic happened. The wine pairing was a quality, well matched selection. An important factor for me was that everyone working in the restuarant was composed and calm which set the tone for us to enjoy our dinner in ample time. We left feeling nourished, happy and excited to return. 5 Stars for everyone.

A wonderfully enjoyable evening with a very creative 6-course menu. Everything is a bit daring, but if you get involved there is a great variety of flavors in the partly vegetarian courses, served by the young and motivated service team. The accompanying wines weren't quite to our taste (sometimes unfiltered organic wines, etc.) but that didn't detract from the overall impression. Be sure to make a reservation, it was fully booked and you could still have a good time. Kudos to the dessert! We will be back definitely!!

One of the best restaurants in the planet, best kept secret in Amsterdam!!! Amzing, beautiful dinner with 5 star service!! What an experience!! From the moment we walked in until we left perfect in every way. We had their 4 course tasting menu and it was plenty! When they saw we might be getting full, they slowed the service down to make use we could enjoy each dish without being over stuffed! Well down! When one of the wait staff heard that I lived saki , but didn’t want to do a full pairing , they brought over a couple tastes of some truly wonderful saki so that I could try them! So Awesome! Every dish was a special treat with little extras after every service . I only problem is I could t eat there twice!! ( we had to get to Zurich:) thank you for a beautiful evening and for fitting us in last minute, we’ll be back!!

Simply amazing. This is one of my favorite restaurants. The five course meal is thoughtful, creative and delicious. It changes regularly and I’ve never been disappointed. The ingredients are fresh, interesting and go amazing together. The service is so pleasant and friendly and they are all so knowledgeable. The wine pairing goes really well. They are also so flexible and accommodated my request for half pours. Really wonderful.

Outstanding! I‘ve been here for the 2nd time now and we didn’t even manage to rank the courses by which one we liked the most as we usually do - because all of them were really amazing. So creative and rich in flavor. Also the service is top!

They accommodated us at short notice, and we enjoyed a taste sensation! We took the 5 course tasting menu with accompanying wine (for me) and juice for my friend. The libe wines were enjoyable but challenging, and the food was extraordinary. The fried squid with dried mussels was a particular standout! Well worth a visit if you are looking for a culinary experience!

I wanted to come here for a long time and I was very pleased with my experience. We had the five course tasting menu and all the dishes delivered. Vegetarian dishes were very delicious. Service was friendly and accurate. We were joking in the end of the dinner saying usually when the food is this good the desserts are poor but dessert was also a success. Congratulations to everyone involved. Definitely I will come here again and recommend to friends. Also price is very fair compared to the quality you get. Unfortunately my photos from that evening are quite poor so I am just adding the photo of the dessert.

Amazing dishes. Very creative and delicious. Flavour 10/10. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. Staff was also helpful. I do have two minor points that could be improved: the staff repeatedly came to our table to ask if they could take the plates while we weren't done yet + the wine portions were a bit skimpy.

The food was good, but the flavours felt repetitive. At the end of the 5 course meal I had trouble remembering what it was I ate. Overall a nice experience but I don't think I'll visit again. Wine was good, stuff very friendly.

Great meal. There were some really great dishes among the dishes in the 6-course menu. The wines were also excellently chosen, but all of the same type/genre: slightly acidic natural wines. Friendly service, spacious, and a nice atmosphere for good conversations!

The food is good, not great. Nothing stuck in terms of taste or presentation. Technically it was just fine, service was friendly and fast. Non alcoholic drink options were limited, they only have house made juices. If you don't like that, you actually have nothing.

Top, price/quality very good (€ 135 pp). Deserves a star

Recently I got accustomed to restaurants with natural wine also having great food. This place is more old school soulless fine dining. Not my thing. Wine was mostly boring as well. One interaction with a server taking my plate captures the evening: Server: did you enjoy the dish? Me: it was all right. Server: thanks!!! Me: i mean it was only all right, it wasn’t great. Server: that happens! Only the dessert clocked in at better than all right. I’m determined to be honest in these interactions without being rude because reflexively saying a bad expensive meal is lovely to preserve social graces is it’s own particular circle of hell. Where you pay to do emotional labor for restaurant workers so they feel okay about you not enjoying the meal they bring you. The meal you are paying dearly for. Anyway, Choux happens, it’s not great. And they don’t care what you think.

My partner and I enjoyed an evening dining here. We found it classy and sociable with a fresh minimal feel.

Excellent food. Very tasty. Staff friendly and communicate with the guests about the food. Good wine suggestions too. Had the 4 course plus an extra scallop dish. And 3 glasses of alcohol. For the price paid, it is absolutely excellent. However can go a little light on the horse radish.

Below expectation. Unfortunately only natural wine (sour!!) and afterwards only tea or filter coffee (missed a nice espresso). When it comes to 'vegetables in the leading role', not what we expected either. We had 7 courses of which 2 fish, 1 meat, 1 cheese and 1 ice cream, so 2 courses with vegetables in the leading role. I expected more, I love vegetables. 2 courses very tasty, 1 not so tasty, rest fine. It all looks nice. Furthermore, a well-oiled machine and excellent service.

Every time I visit Amsterdam I make sure to reserve an evening at Choux. It’s always a whimsical, joyful and creative dining experience — from the fantastical dishes to the engaged staff. The food here is so unique, and served with lots of care and love. It also has always felt far more local than other restaurants. A very special place.

Definitely worth a visit when you're in Amsterdam.

We opted for a five-course meal (€58.50/person) as we had made our reservation for two hours, not realizing that the seven-course is more suited for three hours. Regardless, we had a wonderful time sampling the creative small plates that range from parsley ice-cream to pigeon with beetroot. This is easily one of the best meals I’ve ever had, without the high price for places similar to Choux. The sake pairing was just as sublime. I only opted for a single glass as I’m not much of a drinker, yet it’s also the best sake I’ve had too. They also easily catered to my lactose intolerance, which is a huge plus. I felt well taken care of, and would love to return should I ever make my way to Amsterdam again.

What can I say...an experience not to be missed! We chose the 5-course dinner, one better than the other. Unique flavours, unusual combinations, superlative presentation of the dish both visually and as it is presented by the dining room staff. All accompanied by excellent wines

The food was ok. The five courses + extra entree and dessert left me hungry. The wine was nothing to write home about. Service excellent, we only had the first 3 courses within fifteen minutes, which was a bit too fast for the experience for my taste.

Challenging dishes, good structure of the menu from light to heavy, vegetables in the leading role. Also a relaxed atmosphere.

Without a doubt, one of the most intriguing restaurants I have ever visited! The staff is super friendly and the sensory experience of the various dishes is fantastic. It's a great example of the classic "You get what you pay for." It's worth every penny spent on this place.

I took my 11 year old child for dinner to Choux , while on holiday in Amsterdam .. the food, ambience and service were all fantastic .. wine pairing was good and I was very impressed that they do non alcoholic drink pairing for kids .. we had a lovely evening .. thank you.

Beautifully prepared multi-course prix-fixe vegetable-centric meal. We ordered the five course vegan and vegetarian meals, and came away thoroughly impressed by the quality, creativity, and complex flavors of each dish. Everything tasted great and was beautiful in its presentation. All in, we spent nearly three hours here, and very much enjoyed the dining experience.

Very well priced tasting menu with bold flavors. As many others have pointed out - the wine list is fantastic and we got to enjoy Georgian wine which was stunning. Service was wonderful and the space feels open and fun. Highly recommended!

Very much enjoyed our dinner at Choux. Choux only serves natural wines. Personally I’m not a fan of oxidized wines. We were advised on a bottle that was really great so that was a big surprise. We opted for 6 courses, every course was surprising, complex, tasty and neatly plated. The epoise crème brûlée add is not to be missed. Will be visiting Choux again, I can hardly wait!

Did the 3 course dinner menu. Food was okay, nothing spectacular considering the price point. Service was quick. I took off another star because of the egregious €3.50 per person charge for tap water.

One of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. The food is fantastic, the service is great, and the wines are amazing. The menu changes with the seasons, and they grow some of their food on-site. They offer great juice-pairing with the menu for those that do not want to drink wine. The juices are homemade and very interesting. I’ve been here several times and never been disappointed.

Superavond gehad met hele mooie gerechten, in combinatie met de natuurwijnen echt een belevenis. De mannelijke bediening was wat 'laid-back' (of is dat tegenwoordig hip?) en kwamen wat ongemotiveerd over. Gelukkig werden wij bediend door een vlotte meid die veel wiat te vertellen en erg gezellig was. We werden allerlei extra gerechtjes aangeraden die de rekening achteraf gezien wat te hoog lieten oplopen, we hebben ook in sterremzaken gegeten en dit was nog duurder. De gerechten zijn echt verbluffend en brengen je soms echt van je stokje. Zeker komen we nog eens terug!

One of the best restaurants in Amsterdam. Make a reservation, opt for the wine pairing (and some sake afterwards), and you won’t be disappointed. I also had preordered some wine to be picked up from the (closed) shop which they accommodated. :-)

Cuisine exceptionnelle, les équilibrés sont parfaits et le cet est très créatif. Le service est impeccable et nous avons largement apprécié le pairing alcool free que propose le restaurant. Je suis étonné que celui ci n’ai pas encore une étoile au Michelin, ça serait le minimum. Bravo à toutes l’équipe du restaurant.

One of the best fine dining experiences in Amsterdam. Food was delicious, comforting, yet complex. Staff were lovely, and made the whole experience a memorable one. The vegen options are just as magnificent as the non-vegan ones. The extra dishes were a great addition to the meal, highly recommended We will definitely be back!
