Amazing! Don’t miss that brunch place!

We waited for an hour and a half in the cold, only to go inside and find nothing surprising. The food is good, but is nothing surprising, the ryb eye sandwich costs €16 and isn't enough for one person's lunch. The drinks are also quite expensive. It’s not worth the hype

this place is just an overpriced brunch spot that attracts mostly tourists i believe. theres nothing that special about their brioche sandwich, its also not that fluffy and soft, its more crunchy than a brioche bun should be because they toast it and have thin slices. wouldnt recommend it and wouldnt go there again! also huge lines to wait for it… not worth it… it looks better in photos than it tasted 🤣

The food was delicious. We didn't really like the matcha latte; it didn't seem to be very good quality. There were long queues outside... Otherwise, it was very good.

Found this place on TikTok and it was 100% worth the hype. We waited about 30 minutes just for takeaway (waiting for a table would’ve been even longer), but the food made it completely worth it. We ordered the shrimp garlic sandwich, the ribeye, and the matcha oat strawberry drink everything was absolutely delicious. Would definitely come back.

I visited Chun Café Amsterdam and the place was nice overall. There was a long line, just like everyone mentions, but the experience itself was okay. The food and drinks were good, but nothing “wow” or as amazing as some reviews made it sound. It’s a cute spot to try if you’re in the area, but I don’t think it fully lives up to the hype.

Absolutely amazing sandwiches and drinks they have here. I know people think it is overhyped but the sandwiches here taste absolutely amazing (especially the ribeye one). And the people working here are friendly, they try their best to serve you as good and as fast as possible!

You absolutely must try the strawberry matcha. We got the avocado egg and rib eye. We loved it. We couldn't get there early. We went at noon and waited in line for half an hour. It was worth it.

Wow, I loved the toast, it was amazing! My favorite sandwich was the Furikado, and I also ordered the Avocado egg cheese, which was just okay, nothing special. I also ordered the Rib Eye bulgogi, which was good, and the Cappuccino, which was absolutely delicious!

It was 100% worth the wait. We grabbed takeaway from Chun (queued for about 30 minutes, but time honestly flies when you’re there). We sat on a cute bench by the canal and it turned the whole meal into the perfect little Amsterdam moment. The ribeye beef bulgogi and garlic shrimp toasty were ridiculously tasty, packed with flavor, and felt so well made. The iced strawberry matcha was a fun surprise, refreshing, sweet, unique, and honestly unforgettable. Already planning our next visit. 5 stars, easy. Go try it, you’ll get it.

Everything in this brunch place is wonderful, we tried the pulled beef sandwich and the eggs with avocado sandwich and they were superb, you must try the brown sugar latte as well, the only downside was the waiting queue line.. we waited for almost 1 hour and 30 mins just to be seated, so I would recommend to get your order on a takeaway just to save time

Heard a lot of sensation around Chun and always saw that their waiting line was so long, this time I wanted to go and waited more than an hour but once we were seated and got our food every bite was worth the wait.

Chun Café is the natural sidekick to Fabel Friet in the theater of Amsterdam’s social-media-driven hype. It draws the same crowd of Instagram pilgrims who flood the entire sidewalk and even occupy the canal bridge, turning a public walkway into a sluggish tourist bottleneck. Just like at Fabel Friet, people queue as if they’re about to witness something extraordinary. In reality, Chun serves extremely sugary sandwiches and pastries that look better on camera than they taste. The coffee is genuinely poor and the food is average at best, greasy at worst. Another classic tourist trap: photogenic and shallow, more about trend than taste. Together with Fabel Friet, Chun Café represents how hype-driven spots slowly chip away at the city’s authenticity.

There's a huge queue for a seat, I recommend getting takeout 🙂 but otherwise it's a real treat

Lucky to be in the first 5 people in the queue, by random coincidence. Is not worth the hype, very expensive for what you get although the food is tasty. Price vs serving size, wait time for most people, and atmosphere not worth it. Ordering done through your phone. Quick service. Massive queue on the nearby bridge. Not missing out If you don't go there.

We waited for about an hour in the freezing cold, and unfortunately the inside wasn’t much warmer. The ribeye was not special but tasty, however was not good enough to justify such a long wait. The café itself is quite small, and they seat 3–4 people at tables meant for two, which makes the space feel crowded and uncomfortable. On the positive side, the latte was genuinely very good.

The food is absolutely delicious! We tried the avocado eggs and the shrimp eggs, and they were amazing! The service was excellent; you'll see a line, but it moves quickly. 😍👍🏻 I highly recommend it, give it a try! The only downside is that the place is crowded and small.

The most delicious brunch I've ever had, absolutely amazing!

It's a very small place, with about 6-8 tables, depending on the size of the group, but most tables are for two, and there's one larger one. You have the option of eating in or ordering takeout. The queue is quite long, and you should be aware that the weather there isn't great. We waited 45 minutes to get a table inside, although a waiter comes around occasionally for takeout orders, allowing them to skip the line. The food is quite good and served very quickly. You have to scan the code and order and pay on your phone; they assign you a number and then serve you. We ordered the "Rib Eye Bulgori," which cost €16 (it was quite good and had a bit of a spicy kick); and the bacon cheese and scrambled eggs, which were €14.50 (I personally liked this one better because of the sauce). For drinks, we ordered a matcha latte, which was €6.50, and the one with strawberry, which was €7.50 (they're quite large, but we still found it rather expensive). Everything is pretty good, but it's practically the same as the Revuelto de Madrid, but twice the price, so in my opinion, it's a bit too hyped and expensive, but it's true that it tastes good.

We came here based on the reviews. We waited in line for an hour. Frankly, we liked their toasts. The menu was limited, so you had to make quick decisions, which was good. The staff were very polite. The prices were quite high. My only criticism is that for a business with so many customers, I expected them to open a larger location and increase the number of employees. Waiting an hour, even two, for just a toast and a drink seemed ridiculous. The people we waited in line with agreed. People who eat it once usually don't eat it again just for that reason. It's not worth spending an hour on. It's a familiar taste, after all. I think it's a bit overrated. I'm in favor of the business and the brand putting some structure in place. I also think the staff are working very hard. There are even employees waiting at the door in the cold, constantly letting customers in one by one. The service industry shouldn't be allowed to do this to people. Personally, I wouldn't consider going back. Besides waiting in line, you need to finish your meal quickly and leave, because there are other long lines waiting, and you don't want to keep them waiting. I hope they can do something about this. Don't ask why you have to wait that long for a sandwich. We loved it. I've been craving it ever since I got back, and I think it was the best breakfast I've ever had. We waited in line for about 15 minutes, and it's very small inside, and you have to eat before you leave, but it was still great. I wish it were more comfortable.

I waited an hour in the cold. The restaurant isn't worth it; I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The sandwiches are just okay; you can make them at home. The hype surrounding the restaurant is bigger than it is.

The strawberry matcha was pretty standard but still very good. We got the ribeye bulgogi and the garlic shrimp, and the ribeye was hands down the best - so goooooddd. The only downside was the queue, we waited over an hour in the cold and rain, to get in. And that is the power of social media

Sandwiches are excellent! I saw this place all over social media and was very glad I paid it a visit! There is a queue, but it was well managed and passed quickly. The decor inside is minimalist and went really nicely with the atmosphere of the place. The Matcha is one of the best I’ve ever had, and I still think about it frequently! The sandwiches were delicious, I had a few fatty pieces of beef bulgogi in mine but my friend didn’t, and we both thought they were delicious anyway! I would highly recommend visiting here whilst in Amsterdam.

In my opinion the restaurant was over hyped on social media. We waited 1.5 hours in the rain. We tried getting take out to jump ahead of the line. The food was kinda pricey and very salty. The stairs are dangerous and slippery when wet, somebody in the group fell when exiting.

Worth the hype 100000%! Yes, there's a wait, but if you get takeaway the line is significantly shorter. Highly recommend taking your food and going to a park to eat it! Chun Café Berenstraat is a great spot, but be prepared for a long line during busy hours. The food is excellent, and the coffee is very good as well. The service is fantastic—especially the young man at the entrance who manages the queue. We had a chance to chat with him while waiting, and he was very kind and helpful.

It absolutely worth the wait. We waited for 45 min, we arrived there around 10:50am. It was not bad as it was a beautiful sunny day. Inside there’s not many seats we had to wait longer because it was not take away for us. Anyways a soon as we get there you can order via QR code, and they will bring the food to the table. First was the drinks, this was my first time trying proper matcha, 10/10 was so good, both the strawberry and the banana, is so nice and creamy. The sandwiches came out after. They were amazing, honestly they made me forget how long I waited standing up outside for them. The bread is so good and very buttery, the make a whole inside the bread and stuff it with the filler. Both flavours were also delicious! Is very amazing I highly recommend!

Very good experience and they are definitely worth the hype, the negative is the waiting times which can be significant during meal times (12-3pm), but if you are in for a munchie or afternoon snack after 3pm it slows down significantly and usually you can get served within 10min of arriving. I think something that would be a great add on for them would be to add some gravy to dip as an option. Especially in winter i believe it could be perfection.

The queue is so long, and it's not good in this cold weather. They have two branches; the second one is less crowded. The food is good; I ordered eggs with avocado and cheese, and the bread is brioche. 🥑🧀 Their latte is good. The matcha is just okay (not a big fan). Their orange juice is so fresh and delicious. 🍊

This place has blown up on tik tok, everyone is talking about it. They have really aesthetic looking matcha. But it was €7.50. The Queue is massive. We went at around 12pm, Queued for 50 minutes before we even got inside, then a further 20 ish minutes for the food. This wasn’t even for a table just to takeaway. Prices are quite high considering it’s just a sandwich. We ordered Egg bacon and cheese, and it was good but the filling was only really at the top. The bottom was just weirdly sweet bread. Glad I tried it. But not worth the wait, I expected much more sadly, don’t get the hype

Really long wait time even if you come 15min before opening. But it was one of the best eggdrop sandwiches I had, the matcha is not perfect but better than most. It is way too expensive tho. I would only recommend going once to try it but it isn’t something you would get more than once. For two sandwiches and two drinks we paid 52€. The waiter was really kind and accommodating. They have a good system for the queue too!

30-minute wait. The portions were quite generous. The beef sauce was good and fragrant, but it was made with minced meat. The shrimp portion was good, with plenty of egg, but there were only about 4-5 shrimp per serving. Overall, the atmosphere was nice, and the restaurant was very clean.

The best breakfast ever! Highly recommend the egg shrimp sandwich- and MAKE SURE TO ADD CHEESE! Makes it 10x better. Although the queue and waiting time takes a little while but ITS WORTH IT :)

It was delicious. If you go close to opening time, there won't be a long queue as in the comments. If you can't catch the time, the queue will extend all the way to the bridge.

The toast was extremely average—nothing special at all—and totally overhyped. We had to wait at least an hour, and saw people being let in ahead of us for no clear reason, which made no sense and felt very unorganized. The guest management was really poor. Honestly, this place is only trending because of TikTok hype.

I know chun since the beginning when they got the smoll shop (not this one, but the one right next to them) and they were only 2 girls. But unfortunately now because of the hype (good for the shop) they have to make queues for the foods and drinks…. Years Before asking me to wait 30 mins is fine but now , it’s not worth it , even at 10am the queue already huge.

You have to wait a long time, and we didn't think it was worth it. The rib eye was good, but the others were just plain eggs on bread. The bread was good. I expected better food for these prices. The rib eye was 16€, the bacon egg cheese was 14.5€. The brown sugar latte was 6.5€ and delicious. Not worth the wait.

We came because it was so highly praised, and we waited in line for half an hour. Yes, the sandwich is good, but I don't think there's anything worth waiting half an hour for. I had the avocado egg cheese, and my wife had the rib eye. The only thing that wasn't to our taste was the sugary nature of the bread, but both were delicious. I had a Black Sugar latte with it, which was also good.

You'll wait about 20-25 minutes. It's not a cheap place. We paid around 23 euros for a sandwich and a matcha latte. We had the meat version, and both the latte and the sandwich were incredibly good. I recommend you try it.

This is a over-rated place which would be acceptable If the service were decent-DON'T expect a good COFFEE in that shop. The sandwiches are really good-but it does not worth waiting for >30mins of long queue- and it is like you are the product in an instagram story. When I saw the La Marzocco coffee machine, I did not hesitate to order coffee. However in the first sip you can understand that they used over-roasted beans. Also the coffee was under extracted and possibly the shower head was not cleaned properly, because I tasted coffee particles in my coffee-it was like a French press with a mediocre coffee beans and poorly filtered. I asked to change my coffee but the answer was negative. The waiter told me that he cannot change it because he prepared it already. Then I gave my cup back full and he just took it without bothering to learn the reason.

We came during the week and apparently at a time where we were lucky with the queue. However, it was completely worth it. Our toasties were delicious and filled from top to bottom, so you weren't just chewing on dry bread halfway through. The matcha was also very tasty, but we found the latte a bit too strong. We brought our food with us because we didn't find the interior particularly cozy; it was rather sterile and too small. I can still understand that you wouldn't want to wait in line for longer than 35 minutes, since at the end of the day, it's *just* bread. But if you walk by and see that the line (which continues on a bridge) is relatively short, I would definitely give it a try.
