Coffee Bru in Oosterparkbuurt

Quality of coffee was 1/5 to say the least. It was murky, acidic, and lukewarm. The batch brew tastes extremely light, barely hinted at of coffee underneath, with tap water notes and poor oil extraction. (I recommend they use some sort of filtration before extraction). Cups used for batch brew were also not as clean ahead. Service not warm.

I have been here several times. The coffee used to be good. The last time I was here I ordered an iced matcha latte. The staff was texting while taking my order. They made a warm matcha latte instead. No problem mistakes can happen.. They started prepping a iced matcha this time. She took the matcha powder, mixed it for about 10 seconds... then when she poured the matcha into the glass, and spilled quite a bit. Two employees laughed and acted like nothing happened. I paid so much money for an incredibly bad drink. I will never go there again, there are much better options. Rude staff!!

The photo says it all. Have been drinking here for 13 years - and don’t know what has happened to the hiring policy but the staff at the cash desk and the barista this morning were indescribably rude. To boot the barista told me that a caffeinated drink was the decaf; after I’d had to share that she was preparing oat milk and not the milk I’d requested - and was told “een minute dame” so as to wait for her to heat up the unnecessary oat milk. In a time when a couple of coffees cost 8€ - the experience from start to finish should be pleasant. What a shame these two women seem to have no concept of the pleasure they could share with people on a chill, sunny Saturday morning in May. Won’t be frequenting again at the weekend; and after so many years coming here I genuinely feel sad about that.

My neighbourhood spot, I’ve been coming on the regular for 5 years. The vibe has long been unpretentious and more down-to-earth compared to the expected Amsterdam elitist coffee snobbery. For example, I really appreciate the family space in the corner which brings different groups together into the space. HOWEVER, recently I have found the staff to be quite disinterested (verging on rude) and elitist in their remarks on my regular coffee orders. Unfortunately I’ve found this has changed the vibe in recent months, at least for me personally. It’s taken a bit away from the cozy vibe I found special about the place. Despite that, coffee is still great and salvages the experience, but still I don’t visit as often as I used to.

A few minutes outside Oost Park. Indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly staff. Choice of milk includes oat and coconut. Match and Chai available. Vegan and regular pastries.

The nicest coffee shop in Amsterdam! Lovely staff (I really come back for the staff, especially Jordy), a really nice place where the neighborhood comes together. Always delicious coffee and pastries, definitely go!

The chocolate drink was bad. It tasted out of date.

I used to love coming here, but in recent months, the front area has been overloaded with people with laptops, including those at the two new tables. It's really bad for the atmosphere! Remove those tables and/or direct people with laptops to the back area.

Coffee here is very good. There is a kid corner which is lively and cute!

Nice coffee shop in East with a homey atmosphere. I come here regularly! The people behind the counter are friendly and helpful. Recently, two more tables were added in the front area, where people often sit with laptops. I think this unfortunately doesn't improve the atmosphere. Could laptops be banned here? Keep up the good work!

I think I first came here in 2012. A warm welcome, a pleasant chat, ridiculously good coffee, and peace and quiet. And you'll still find that here in 2026. What a wonderful place.

This place has big importance in my life. I live close by and whenever I want to feel better I go to bru. It’s my second home with best cakes and coffee. Hope it’ll stay in our lives forever and never change. The community - is amazing. Best people go here with their pets and kids and all so respectful, lovely and artsy. I don’t know if such thing exists but this place is my emotional support coffee shop. I go here for three years and now hearing Koen will leave I got a bit emotional and noticed I never shared my feelings with you Coffee Bru. Everyone in this community, you should know, you have a special place in my heart 🥹❤️

Cute place with nice decor, outdoor seating, yummy snacks and good coffee. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Multiple tables available inside with connection for power so you can work. Relaxing chill music as well. Hidden gem!

Popped in for a quick cup of tea and walked away with a (I’m definitely spelling this wrong) Hoijicha latte! Was an absolutely delicious seasonal special and something that I had never tasted before. Always love a place that can bring a unique and vibrant taste to my palette, another tea ticked off the list! Very much recommend this place for a sit down cup of joe as the variety of roasts they had were amazing. I’m scunnered I didn’t try the coffee as the beans on show were nothing like we get in Glasgow. Full of families, professionals and smiling folk enjoying lovely cakes and great hot drinks, pop by if you are in the area. Decor smashing, huge deck outside with plenty of comfy seating and a bunch of helpful and happy staff that were accommodating to my horrendous pronouncing skills :) Cheers

Best chai latte in Amsterdam East!

The staff always works here so kindly and pleasantly that I happily cycle a few kilometers to have a coffee here instead of in my neighborhood. Coffee tastes so much better to me when you are always welcomed with a smile. Such a difference from many other fairly anonymous coffee bars. In addition, very tasty coffee, I especially recommend the filter coffee (almost different beans every day) and the decaf beans they sell are also one of the best I have encountered in Amsterdam.

Great white chocolate sesame loaf! This was a unique bake for me that I definitely haven’t seen before. While it may not sound particularly groundbreaking, the loaf was a good texture and the icing was wonderful. The taste of white chocolate truly does come through, and the cut of the slightly less sweet loaf works perfectly to balance this out.

Good prices and atmosphere. Pumpkin and Chai chocolate cake was delicious - would recommend

café seems cute but the matcha tasted like nothing and they gave me coconut milk instead of milk in my coffee. when i asked the barista was quite rude and said she used the right milk.

This is an unpleasant experience. The chair had a nail which tore my pants. I went to tell the chap at the bar who seemed to be the boss. He smiled, said "oh man, did you tear your pants?" And went on doing nothing. A second customer sat on the same chair. I left and told him that he's ruining everyone's clothes. He said - oh man, thank you. Their coffee may not be bad, but you buy from idiots, just beware.

I was there for breakfast, good cakes, fast and efficient service, a slightly noisy environment with few seats inside.

A bit hipsterish, but that doesn't stop us from having something warm to drink. For example, I really like the hot chocolate (choco Bru). My wife likes the coffee, so we come back here regularly during walks.

Very pleasant coffee shop in the east. In a quiet area far from all tourists. Both a terrace and indoor seating for people who study or want to work. Because it was so hot, we had a nice iced coffee and a piece of pistachio cake. Cake was really excellent with richly filled pieces of pistachios. Friend of mine had cappuccino. Highly recommended.

Coffee Bru is my absolute favorite spot for a daily coffee or cappuccino, whether it’s with a croissant, pain au chocolat, or a slice of cheesecake. The staff is super friendly, and they’re great with dogs and kids. There’s plenty of seating inside and a nice terrace to enjoy when the weather’s good. Love the cozy atmosphere!

2022: Loved their cappuccino and fun ambiance. A placed trusted by local regulars. Update summer 2024: still the best coffee in town. Coming from Nieuw West is far and treacherous, but the speciality coffee in Coffee Bru is worth it. Consistently great, the best cappuccino in the city. The taste has a hint of acidity, dried mango and a bit of rum. All baristas are fantastic, but special thanks goes to Dany from Ukraine.

Delicious coffee, really tasty. I have ordered a flat white and a rose leaf loaf. Really happy with my choices, the loaf was soft and had an intense flavour. The coffee was strong but at the same time was sweet, not bitter at all. Great place for an amazing coffee.

Great little cafe that soon became the morning coffee selection for our stay in Amsterdam. Pastries and cakes are spot on as are the Oat Lattes and Long Black Espresso.

Best matcha white chocolate ever!

It’s located at the Beukenplein in Amsterdam East close to the new and trendy Bar Bukowski. Coffee Bru is a perfect hotspot to meet your friends for coffee or to work in your public office. The coffee they use at Coffee Bru is from Boca’s. In the summer Coffee Bru has a tiny terrace with even tinier chairs where you can enjoy the sun on a warm day.

One of the best specialty cafes in Amsterdam off the typical tourist trails. I always have a latte or a flat white, they are wonderful. If you like tea you should try the matcha latte because it is delicious! In the back there are games for children and dogs are allowed.

Was visiting Amsterdam for a week with my kid, and after visiting lots of coffee shops, this one is the best. My Husband and I were THRILLED to discover these guys. Coffee A+, baked goods AA++. cappuccinos were too freaking good. Now we are back home in the states and still talking about their coffee. Damn. They are killing it. 10/10 would go back. Add to cart. Yes.

The coffee was one of the best i’ve had in Amsterdam. The banana cake and lemon cake was very good too, they were moist and tasty. They were homemade and tasted that way as well :) A good cafe to study, as well as to go with friends or on your own. Prices were average. Definitely would go again. <3

Ik kwam toevallig bij Coffee Bru terecht vandaag tijdens mijn zoektocht naar overheerlijke espresso. Het gaat daarbij over het algemeen niet over welke boon er word gebruikt, en zelfs niet over hoe hij gebrand is en of de boon vers is, maar puur om mijn persoonlijke smaak. Ik mag mijzelf toch wel een kenner noemen op al deze vlakken maar over smaak valt niet te twisten. Bij het bestellen van mijn espresso werd er tot mijn verbazing gevraagd welke boon ik liefst wilde proeven, de keuze kon gemaakt worden tussen een Colombiaan en een Keniaan waarbij ik niet gevraagd heb welk proces er gebruikt is voor het wassen/rijpen/branden. Ik heb ervoor gekozen om van alletwee de bonen een ristretto te bestellen. De ristretto's vielen wat groot uit, er ging 18 gram koffie in en er werd naar mijn inschatting 35 milliliter koffie mee gezet, daarbij heb ik niet in de gaten gehad hoe lang er over het zetten werd gedaan. Alletwee mijn "ristretto's" waren overheerlijk! De temperatuur was spot on, de smaakpapillen werden twee keer verwend met een mooie kloppende fruitige, ietwat zurige smaak waarbij de Keniaan wat zuurder was maar met een wat bittere nasmaak, de Colombiaan was wat ronder, iets meer compleet, meer fruitig en een aangename zachte nasmaak. De koffie is goed geprijsd en naar mijn smaak perfect gezet, precies zoals deze twee bonen nodig hebben. De liefde en aandacht voor de specifieke boon maakt deze zaak tot de uitzondering op de regel. Dikke vette aanrader dus voor mensen die van pure koffie willen genieten. De kwaliteit van de op melk gebaseerde koffies laat zich raden, ook hier verwacht ik een topervaring. Bedankt voor de vriendelijke service en de twee perfecte bakken koffie ! Tot snel !

Kava i kroasani izvrsni! Lokal na izvrsnoj poziciji u gradu. Cijene nisu napuhane. Sjedili smo dugo i konobari su nas često obilazili i usluživali.

We stayed in Amsterdam for a few days and we were so happy to find this cafe who does excellent coffees and cakes. The staff were friendly, great atmosphere there. We didn’t mind to catch a tram to go there every day. Highly recommended.

I tried it once and fell in love with it, the cappuccino was very smooth in its taste. Definitely going there again for another try.
