Fantastic. Great comedians, great atmosphere, and fantastic staff. The only areas for improvement are that it's uncomfortably hot in the hall in the summer, and the downstairs restrooms are completely unsuitable and practically unusable for a restaurant. Otherwise, great!

Had a dinner and show here on a try-out Thursday. The food was overcooked and very salty, whilst they only offered water and apple juice as options that didn't have caffeine or alcohol in them. The comedians were great, but the music/sound was way way too loud. Coming in I couldn't hear my partner whilst they were yelling in my face, during the show one comedian was a little quieter than the rest and asked whether or not everyone could hear them. Everyone could but one person, so instead of moving them to the open table next to the speakers they decided to turn up the volume even more. Hard to recommend if you don't like loud noise in a small space.

Nice little cellar with a good view of the stage. I wouldn't go on a hot summer day. There's no air conditioning and poor circulation.

We didn't have any food, so I can't comment on that. Otherwise, it was very cozy and the cocktails were delicious. It was a bit warm inside, though.

First-timer at the KOCC. The signposting from the street side to the wharf cellar could be clearer. The welcome and guidance to seats were excellent, as was the rest of the service (drinks before and during the performance). Roel C. Verburg's contribution certainly made it a very successful evening for this first-timer.

It was so much fun to be a part of it. I'll definitely be back.

Didn't eat here, only went to the stand-up comedian, highly recommended, laughed a lot. Lots of interaction with the audience, but you have to be able to handle being made fun of, great humor and a large dose of self-mockery.

I really enjoyed the concert, had a great time

I hesitated between 2 and 3 stars. I'll explain why. You ultimately give stars for 2 parts: the restaurant and the comedy club. And that first part was tragic. Rarely had such a soulless piece of meat as what passes for a hamburger. I had chosen this precisely because a hamburger is actually always good. Well apparently not. The structure was tough and little taste. The bun was much too big, which means you taste even less of the meat. The starter was aparccio: their take on carpaccio. That meant that the meat was rolled around the vegetables, which certainly looked nice, but did not benefit the taste. The toilets were dirty. And that while I was the first of the evening to use them. No, actually nothing of the restaurant part was good. Oh well, the service was friendly, so that was nice. After dinner we went downstairs to attend the stand-up comedy in a shipyard cellar. And that was really great: we found MC Said in particular, the young lady who stepped in that evening but whose name I have forgotten, and Roel C. Verburg very funny! These 3 people really saved our evening. Advice: try to score tickets for just the comedy part and look for a nice other restaurant in Utrecht. Then you will have a great evening! Advice for the owners: I think the quality of the restaurant can be improved very easily. If you succeed, you have gold in your hands.

We had made a reservation for food and comedy with 13 people. When the comedy arrived, we were not allowed to sit together. We had planned this as an outing for a friend as a surprise, but in the end we were spread out in groups and completely apart. The gentleman who works there as a "manager" was very rude and did not think along. Not friendly to us at all and was very angry. After trying to contact them several times via whatsapp, calling and emailing, they could not be reached. Too bad you paid more than 800 euros and they treated you like this.

Unfortunately this was the worst hamburger we have ever eaten. The female waiter was fortunately super friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was good. There is no coffee and it was unclear how the evening would continue. Downstairs in the basement it was narrow, cramped and a bit damp but cozy. Comedians were certainly good and the waiters served quickly. Unfortunately it was impossible for a number of people to keep their mouths shut during the performances which was annoying for the comedians. In short: definitely go to the shows and have a drink, but don't be tempted to book a dinner.

I regularly go to the try-out evenings. Often a super fun evening for a good price. Definitely recommended! The weekend performances are also just good. The café has a nice atmosphere Please note, you have no reception on your phone. Nice to have no distractions but not handy if you have a standby service for example. Too bad, "in the past" the price for a ticket was also the actual price for a ticket. Nowadays there are also service costs and costs to pay (on all payment options). Just include that in the price you see initially.

After contacting them several times by email, phone, whatsapp and even visiting them, the arrangements seemed to have been made well in advance. I was assured during my visit that everything would be fine. In the end, we were faced with a closed door with our bachelor party and they could not do anything for us: only excuses. We were supposed to do a cocktail workshop, dinner and comedy show there, so our entire program fell apart. Nothing was offered as compensation. Very disappointing.

My sister had contacted the company months ago for my bachelor party. 15 emails were sent, to which only 1 was responded to. Had contact by telephone, which was very difficult because they were difficult to reach. When there was telephone contact, promises were made such as: no is well in the agenda and tomorrow I will send the invoice. Ultimately she came by, because contact was difficult. Spoke to the owner who gave the feeling that things would really turn out well and so did they. Received his telephone number days before the day of the bachelor party and tried to contact him. No response…. When we get there, the door is closed and no one is there. Miraculously, the owner answered this time and indicated that it would be for next week. While the emails and app clearly state May 10th, they responded very laconically, even though the entire program would now not go ahead. We would have a cocktail course there, dinner there and a show. Nothing could continue. Never go here because it was really stressful on the day itself. We were very fortunate to be able to take a last minute workshop with Mr. Finch

A cool atmosphere. Cool location. Friendly service, hospitable. Enjoyed standup comedian Roel Verburg!!! It's great, had a wonderful evening!

For me it was a discovery outing and a very successful evening, with some preparation stress. The concept of dinner for two together with entrance for the try out, in this case, was completely new to me. As a result, I accidentally ordered 4 tickets instead of 2. You buy the tickets through an external company where no clear information is given for exactly what you pay for the tickets for. Later it turned out that it was only the main course, while I was convinced that I had paid 100 euros for the complete dinner for 2. In the afternoon before your outing you will receive a message that you must choose the dish in advance due to waste. Fortunately, the starter could still be adjusted on the spot! Starter is recommended because the portions are on the small side. You pay extra for that. The food is well taken care of. The service was very professional! Another useful thing to know is that the restaurant is above the canal and you only go down before the show. All in all, have another starter if you eat there and remember that the ticket is for 2 people. In short, a successful evening with plenty of laughter🤣

On Saturday March 8 we would have dinner here and then watch stand up comedy. We had purchased dinner deal tickets. Only on the day itself we received a call that the chef was ill, something that can happen. We would get our money back for dinner, seemed fine. It's now been a month and after several texts, phone calls and emails we still haven't received our money and we're not getting any responses to our messages. Not very nice, but apparently this club doesn't care at all.. The evening itself, the comedy was fun, but the atmosphere and service were very mediocre. We couldn't order drinks in advance at the bar and no one came by to take anything. Only when everyone was seated did someone sporadically come by to ask if we wanted something to drink, it took an hour before we had our first drink. In any case, we won't be coming back here again.

Been to Roel C. Verburg! Remains the most fun, small stream comedian there is. Behind the bar they could be a little quieter with glassware during the performance because sometimes I didn't hear anything. Otherwise great!

Reserved a nice combination for Valentine's Day: food & the comedy show. Due to an error in the booking system, our food reservation did not go through properly. That could happen, but we had to look for another restaurant on the spot. We would get a drink for free and our money back the same evening for the food we had already paid for. To this day (03/24/2025) we have not received our money back. Every time we are told that it will be deposited today. 4 emails, 4 phone calls and a few WhatsApp messages. Very unfortunate, because it was certainly not the comedy show and performances, I would give 5 stars for that!

Combination tickets for dinner and comedy reserved for Valentine's Day. Once we arrived on time, it turned out that they did not have us on the list for dinner. We couldn't get in anymore because it was full. They admitted that our reservation was correct and that it was their mistake. Then we had to find a restaurant ourselves. It can happen of course and we understood that. The owner had noted that we would get the money back for the dinner. We had a great time at the comedy! That is why it is extra disappointing that after phone calls, texts and emails, no money has still been refunded. They kept saying they would do it. It's been over a month and still no money. Treated very poorly when it is their fault.

We came here for a show last night. Checked the website to see if we could get dinner. And the website stated to send an email with what kind if dinner you would like. So we did that and heard nothing. Only to come in and to hear that the cook was sick so we had to get some dinner somewhere else afterwards. They need to get their reservation process and website updated to 2025! Staff onsite was friendly and genuinely sorry for this. So that's why they received the 2 stars. The show itself was really good. So Roel C Verburg saved our night! Update to owner: We had tickets for the show. And so we wanted to do your dinner and show. That's what I tried to email you (more than a week before the show). But unfortunately the reservations mailbox is not read... The website states: "Book now for dinner in our restaurant Dining in our restaurant is only possible in combination with tickets for the show and reservations are required. If you have already purchased a ticket + dinner or Dinner Deal in advance, you do not need to make a reservation for dinner." Where the first line is a link to an email address for reservations. So we had a ticket for the show. AND a reservation (since we didn't purchase a dinner deal). I don't think I fully understand what we might have done wrong.

Food ok, bar staff top, mediocre comedy; flat and full of repetition. Warning trans people, this is not a safe place. Stay safe♥️

Went here for dinner on a Friday evening with a combo deal and then attended the 'cocktails & comedy' show. The food was just okay. Passed in advance and was served quickly. Uncle the service was great. After dinner we could use the same voucher to go downstairs to the real comedy club (the restaurant is upstairs). Saw four comedians and really laughed! Nice conversation, and an original programme. It's also great that they offer space for novice comedians. The service was also great and the cocktails were delicious. The only thing we thought was a shame was that the seating arrangement was not optimal in some places. Of course you are in a canal cellar so you have to be creative with the space, but some corners were not super practical. Of course, if that doesn't spoil the fun, it was a very nice evening. Nice staff and nice comedians. We would definitely do this again!

You don't have to do it for the food, but you certainly do for the show. Highly recommended! But don't sit in the front!! 😉

Nice evening out for relatively little

Nice location for a fun night out with friends. Have a nice meal beforehand and laugh out loud afterwards.

As a family we had an excellent meal here and thoroughly enjoyed all the comedians.

Too bad there is no coffee served after dinner. That is a loss

Location and atmosphere are great. The service here is also really great. The food is tasty, although in my opinion it was a bit too little. Also considering the price of the package with food, I would have really appreciated dessert.

Super super super fun! Had a great time, only thing is that the ticket stated from 18:00-20:30 but the show ended at 19:30 so really confused why we were charged an extra hour?

We booked an evening of standup at the Comedy Café on the Oude Gracht. This evening, excluding drinks, cost tickets €20 per person. We paid this amount because Steven Brunswijk (Braboneger) would be performing that evening. However, this turned out to be a misleading 'bait' as we got to see other comedians. The first two were okay. According to our findings, the last comedian was drunk (you could see and smell this...). After paying for the drinks, we inquired about the absence of Steven Brunswijk's performance. According to the MC, the website was not up to date because Steven had had his performance the week before. However, this was not correct as we had purchased the tickets earlier. So we feel a bit 'cheated' in that area. I personally didn't find the café attractive. You end up in a narrow, oppressive tunnel. It was full of chairs, it smelled like sewer, the ceiling leaked and the toilets were just passable for me in terms of hygiene. I thought the cocktail was very mediocre. Fortunately, you can't ruin much with sparkling water and Red Bull. However, the staff were friendly and they kept track of everyone's drinking habits. The entrance to the café is right next to the stairs on the left side. Saves you searching!

Had a surprisingly fun evening at Comedy Café! Food was fresh, no nonsense and excellent. We had a nice meal. Friendly staff and Try Out Thursday for 'dessert' was delicious. Eight stand-uppers so if you can't laugh... definitely worth repeating for us!

Had a great evening. We will definitely come back! What fun it was! We had a lot of laughs with a lineup of 8 standup comedians on the Thursday TryOut night. Next time we will combine it with dinner in the comedy restaurant. Absolutely recommended!

We had bought tickets for 2 people including dinner (90 euros) for August 28. We received a voicemail message in the morning that the cook is ill and that the meal cannot take place. This can happen of course, so you eat somewhere else (and therefore incur additional costs). At the cash register they said that the excess amount paid (more than 50 euros) would be refunded. When I texted at one point that I had not received anything yet, they said that I had to provide my Iban number... so I did of course. But unfortunately, no refund yet. Then I sent 3 more apps, they were read (blue check marks) but no response was received! It is not nice that this company treats my money in this way, which they have received but have not delivered anything in return!

Food was fine! Show was also fun, about relationships and dating. Price-quality nothing to complain about. We were here with social deal. Restaurant is upstairs, theater downstairs on the canal.

Had a fantastic evening. We watched 2 shows in a row. I only now see that you can also eat here, maybe we will next time! The evening's comedians were great fun. In terms of drinks, there is a wide range and the cocktails are delicious. All in all, great fun and we will definitely come back. The only point of criticism is that it is poorly ventilated downstairs, it is warm and I saw some mold on the ceiling near the toilets. Quite a few people complained about it the evening we were there, so I can imagine that it comes up more often. See you again soon!

Cool experience! Nice that you can eat there beforehand! They send you a text message with the menu choices a few hours before you come to eat. Then you can tell us what you want to eat. Good service, Had a nice evening with the comedians too!

For me it was certainly not the first time that I had visited Comedy Café Utrecht. This time I had a ticket with dinner + entrance. Great combination! Have a nice drink/snack in the restaurant beforehand and then have a nice laugh in "the bunker" You will definitely see me more often. Friendly staff and where can you find a Bartender who is also a comedian??? So here! 👌🏽

This was a very nice experience with my family. Experience dinner and show at a friendly price through Social Deals. Multi-course menu was delicious and surprising. Showmaster Arjan was funny and respectful. The show was varied by several esteemed comedians. Highly recommended! Tip: Entrance was upstairs, the show was downstairs on the canal.

DO NOT BUY THE DINNER and COMEDY PACKAGE!!!! Bought the dinner and comedy show package for my partner and myself. The dinner was cancelled last minute (as i now read seems to be a trend with these guys!) We still haven't received a refund in almost 2 months: staff have been unresponsive by email and phone. Went there and was told they would follow up within a week. Never did. Honestly customer service is what makes a business successful. Such a shame, very disappointing behaviour.. The stand up show was also not worth all this hassle. Just FYI the show is also in a cellar, old walls of the Oudegracht, so bring warm clothes if u decide to go..

Last Friday we had a delicious meal with friends in the attractive restaurant. Friendly service and nothing was lacking. You will not miss anything during the show either. We were lucky with the performances and an evening of great laughter. The only downside is the musty smell in the cellar, but that is of course difficult to avoid in such a wharf cellar. In any case, we had a great evening!

Good and affordable food and a good show in a unique place.

Nice place, good location and good food and drinks, but I still had a bit of a fun evening last Saturday. The “cancer” foreigner performance by one of the performers was not fun and there was a bit of a hostile atmosphere. Left during the break, like many others.

The show was nice, but I accidentally paid double for the dinner deal and after I was told once to give my IBAN so they could refund it, I didn't receive anything back and I don't get any response at all when I call them. email or try calling/whatsapping. We booked a comedy evening with dinner two weeks ago via Social Deal and reserved it for tonight. Last week we also passed on our menu. This morning I received a call from Social Deal with the message that the owner of the café had informed them that they were overbooked and that our reservation had been cancelled. The disappointment is indescribable. This evening was intended to celebrate my birthday with the children. Now we are all looking for another experience that can take place tonight, but everything we like seems to be sold out. Thank you again, Comedy Café Utrecht and Social Deal, for this great birthday gift!

Great show, top quality food and good service. Highly recommended

In hindsight, I should have skipped this venue. Our group of 13 wanted to do a roast workshop as advertised on their site. They didn’t respond to at least three emails, so I visited the venue and found the owner. I got his personal email address. After one promising interaction, all communication ceased. I sent three more emails to no avail. In the one email I received, there was the owner's phone number. I called him a couple of times and finally managed to make an arrangement. All I had to do was confirm via text. He responded, and the date, time, and participants were all confirmed. We were good to go. This was done two months in advance. To be sure, I contacted him by text a week before the workshop with some questions. No answers. I called him two days later. He picked up, promising to call back. Nothing. Called him the next day, same thing. Called him an hour later and finally got to talk to him. He told me I never confirmed the workshop, which was obviously false. He went on to call a comedian to lead the workshop and promised to call me back. Of course, he never did. I lost all hope but didn’t want to cancel this event for 13 people, so we went ahead on the day the workshop was planned. Standing outside the venue, the door was closed. I called him again—magically, he picked up immediately—and he told me again that I never confirmed the workshop and that he couldn’t get another comedian to lead the workshop. I was angry and made it clear this was unacceptable. Now for the only positive part: he called his staff, and they opened the club. They were friendly and did what they could. We all got a free drink and were able to do the "workshop" inside. Some people had already prepared a roast, so we improvised and had a great time. This positive ending is worth one star, so two in total, but I advise you to NEVER go there unless you have nothing to lose.

Comedy club is super good, but as a vegetarian I really don't recommend eating here.

After an evening at this comedy café, I can say with certainty that it was a great experience! The food in the restaurant was delicious, especially the Tel Aviv style fries were simply amazing. On Thursday's Try-out there were about 8 comedians and a hilarious MC who really brought the evening to life in the comedy cellar on the water. I laughed a lot and absolutely became a fan. Highly recommended for an evening full of fun and good food!

Food was tasty, nice atmosphere, but there was a really bad sewage smell in the toilets. The kitchen also didn't look very clean...it didn't detract from the food because it was fine.

Highly recommended for a wonderful evening out! Despite all the restrictions, the crew makes it a party. The food is great, just a bit different and therefore special. Just like the show, the men behind the bar and the location... An evening that we can live on and get through the evening lockdown (if it doesn't last too long 😊).

the food is delicious and fresh, I recommend it

We were treated poorly/antisocially by staff via WhatsApp. Cheese board was nasty and wrong (in terms of types and dip) and expensive. Acts were a lot of fun. Fortunately, we did get a 50% discount on the cheese board afterwards.

Social Deal offered a nice package, 3 course dinner plus entrance for two for less than 50 euros. And that was real value for money. Dinner was delicious, and two of the 4 comedians were really funny and original. The location is very beautiful, the restaurant on the quay and the comedy cafe at the bottom of the canal in a vaulted cellar.

Bediening en sfeer was top! Een comedy in de werfkelder was geweldig, erg gelachen. Wij hadden dinner+comedy combo. Visgerechten en vlees gerechten waren lekker en de tel Aviv aardappelen waren smaakvol en knapperig, heerlijk bijgerecht. vegetarische gerecht werd beschreven -als een tournedos van bietjes maar bleek gewoon twee gekookte bietjes te zijn, dat was echt waardeloos. Absoluut een aanrader voor een avondje uit.

Beautiful comedy café in the heart of Utrecht! We had an amazing evening with great performances!

Top avond gehad! Grappig, goede service en lekker cocktails / Gin & tonics

Lekker gegeten in het cafe, dat net voor etenstijd open gaat. Bediening is erg vriendelijk en zorgt dat je tijdens de avond niet zonder drinken komt te zitten. Als je gekozen hebt voor een diner deal ga je na het eten buiten langs naar de werfkelder. De comedy night zelf was erg leuk, de mc had er ook zichtbaar zijn in. Een avondvullend programma tot een uur of 23.00. Zeer wisselend programma, dus voor ieder wat wils. Na de show liep het wel snel leeg. Jammer is dat ze beneden en beperktere cocktailkaart hebben dan boven. Ook is een nadeel van de werfkelder dat deze vrij vochtig is en achterin ook met vleugen erg muf ruikt.

Lekker en goed eten en daarna lachen... Super combi! Het is wellicht een beetje bijzonder dat je het restaurant na het eten verlaat en buitenom de kelder ingaat. De kelder kan wat koel zijn in eerste instantie. Gegarandeerd een leuke avond!
