Fun activity: eating in the dark! You have to experience it! Being served by people with limited or no vision, after all, it's dark! Very enjoyable experience! The guides were well-organized, following the instructions, and the procession was carried inside in a conga line. Coffee can later be enjoyed in the light of the conservatory. We had dinner with a wine pairing. Highly recommended!

A nice outing for two, but unfortunately, the restaurant was a huge disappointment. Despite being quite full on a Friday evening, there was absolutely no atmosphere—it was almost uncomfortably quiet. The food was disappointing in terms of value for money. The biggest problem, however, was my nightshade allergy (which includes potatoes). This allergy had been communicated early on and confirmed again at the table. Initially, the kitchen seemed to take it seriously, but I was still served mashed potatoes with my main course. Such a mistake can happen, but to dismiss it with just an "sorry" is truly disappointing.

We loved the experience; it was our first time, but the staff were very well guided and reassuring. The meal was quite simple, but well-prepared. Knowing there's a guessing game at the end to identify what we ate, we weren't expecting anything out of the ordinary. We recommend the experience for curious minds!

Really awesome experience, the food was good and variety of textures to develop the moment. Huge Thanks to the staff. Some details: pitch dark room but from time to time rays of light due to entrance of customer or food service, that can take you out of the moment. The food is not breaking leg but totally acceptable with variety unusual products or way of serving, definitely worth the try

You want to visit this restaurant for the experience, definitely not for the food. Having established that fact, it’s worth 4 stars and 50€/pp to try it. We booked a non-rush hour time slot which was (looking back) our luck. The staff patiently explained everything and the waiters were kind. We entered a pitch black room holding onto each other by the shoulders, guided by our waiter. We were seated far away from the kitchen and other than us, there was another group of maybe 3 people. Everyone was quietly chatting which was somewhat comforting. It took us a relatively short time to figure out how to fill our cups with water without spilling it over and I want to think that we didn’t miss a lot of food on our plates. We ate with fork and knife, no reason to grab the food with fingers. It wasn’t fine cuisine and although we didn’t expect anything out of ordinary the chef could’ve been more creative considering the heightened sensitivity to taste. We had to guess the menu which was fun and helpful to put the claustrophobic person in our group at ease. By the end of the hour more tables started filling up and the noise started to become too much, we were happy to leave. All in all it was a positively engaging experience, I was surprised how fast we were able to adapt and how quickly loud sounds became a bother. I recommend this place because we were made to understand a little bit about the challenges of the visually impaired.

It was an amazing expérience with my family. We came for the expérience and were not disappointed. The meal was delicious and we had a great time trying to guess what we were eating. My family and I really appreciated the warm welcome of the host and the caring service of our waiter Verdon. My daughter was anxious at first about the idea of eating in the dark but she ended up loving it and didn't want to leave the restaurant at the end 😅 We also really appreciated the chef making sure that we would appreciate what was on the menu that day as we had very special food restrictions. We highly recommend this restaurant and would love to go back one day!

What a fantastic experience! I went to dinner at Ctaste with a friend. Upon arrival, you're greeted by a hostess who explains everything and welcomes you. Then you're introduced to the waiter for the evening. By mentioning their name or the word "waiter," the waiter knows something's up. You're led to your table in pitch darkness, following a conga line. If there are two of you, you'll be seated comfortably next to each other. They're incredibly considerate of allergies, etc., and check this multiple times by different staff members. I'm guessing there's a maximum of 4 or 5 tables per room. This makes it quiet and not noisy at all. If you need to use the restroom, you conga line with the waiter, though there's light here, of course. :) The food is delicious, and you'll be pleasantly surprised by what you've actually eaten! You only find out afterward by scanning a QR code. I thought it was a fantastic experience!

We received a dinner voucher as a present. I was not so impressed by the food. It was not bad but only one course was tasty. The chef seems to think that some added chili makes a dish less bland and more tasty in the dark. I would rather go for a bit more texture and more acidity. The concept is nice for a novelty; interesting to experience how one can get a bit adjusted to the dark in such short time. The "darkness sluice" however was a but broken so we got occasionally some unintended light. I found the shouting of the waiters about table numbers also not that conducive for the ambiance. Waiter did a good job.

Very friendly and helpful service! The concept was very fun and unique. Unfortunately we were seated next to the kitchen door and quite frequently there was light coming out (not a lot but interrupting the vibe). The food courses were disconnected from one another, which is a missed opportunity to only serve one cuisine (i.e. stamppot was served together with a bao bun). I would come back however!

The concept is very nicely thought out: lunch, dinner or a chocolate fondue or high tea in the dark with waitresses/waiters with a visual impairment. We came for the chocolate fondue. The entrance leaves a lot to be desired as it looks sober and outdated. We were not immediately welcomed, so we wondered if we were sitting in the right place... when we were welcomed, the concept was introduced to us in an uninterested way and that was a shame. Then we were taken to our table by a very sweet waitress. Inside you can't see anything at all, which can give you a claustrophobic feeling at first. You have to be open to a new experience and dare to surrender to it. Fortunately, a lot was explained and we were put at ease. We got a plate with various types of fruit and goodies. For the amount we would have paid (we had a voucher), we thought it was little. For example, we missed ladyfingers, biscuits or marshmallows. In addition, no drinks were included, which was a shame. When we arrived we heard another group saying that the food was very good, so maybe we didn't choose the right activity. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, except for someone who really wants to try something new or for a bachelor party for example.

The experience itself is very nice and special, but the food is not what we expected. I would describe it as simple and the portions were out of balance. I've been to a different diner in the dark in Luxembourg and I have to say that this one is a bit less in comparison. The staff was not so excited to be there and it all felt a bit cheap. Even though you don't see it, I could feel that my table was broken and the chairs were very cheap. There were also no pictures of the food afterwards, just a description, which is a bit of a shame as you're always curious to see what you ate. Food was good though and the experience is still unique

Great experience with a very good general atmosphere, fun and confusing concept at the same time, unfortunately the quality of the dishes spoils everything because the cuisine really does not live up to the concept and especially the asking price. Out of respect for the restaurant and its future customers, I will not say what we ate in order to leave it a surprise, because that is obviously where the whole point of the thing lies, however be warned that it You should not go to this address for the quality of the dishes but to have an interesting time there. Small digression for the management even if we don't see anything, eating on a table which is in fact a common plywood board damaged on the corners and wobbly, accompanied by a barely comfortable seat and low-end crockery, don't frankly does not participate in putting you in good conditions and it is a shame because having removed the sense of sight, our other senses are therefore increased tenfold and we could have appreciated the fact of being in a quality place, which was really not the case!!

A special experience, eating in the dark. You literally don't see a hand in front of your eyes, and although there is cutlery, you quickly resort to eating with your hands (which the dishes are also designed for). Explanation in advance was short and somewhat businesslike. Service and guidance during the meal was smooth and friendly. The dishes were ok but certainly not great, the price-quality ratio is a bit lacking. You are constantly alert and focused, which I found it quite tiring (as did others in my group). A big loss remains that for me, fun also includes seeing each other. In short, certainly a wonderful experience, but I will not do this a second time.

I have visited Ctaste 4 times over the past 10 years or so. I really, really like the concept: I think it’s not only an interesting sensory experience, but also a great way to literally get a tiny “taste” of the daily lives of people with visual impairments. However, I feel like the concept is being stretched increasingly thin. It has started to feel commercial and impersonal and it really lost its charm for me. In previous years, after dinner, someone would sit down with your group and have a fun chat to let everyone guess and discuss what they think was part of the menu. Now, you just scan a QR code on your way out... They added an additional dining room to fit more diners which felt incredibly stuffy and smelled like a gym locker room (not exactly pleasant when you are even more attuned to your sense of smell). At the end of the dinner, it was clear from the insistence of the staff that we were expected to leave (at 21:30, with no other reservations after us). The evening -unlike the 3 previous times I dined here- felt overall unwelcoming and rushed. The food was ok but not extraordinary, but this was always worth it before, just because the experience itself was so special. Unfortunately, I feel that it has become unbalanced, and definitely not worth the price per person anymore (not to mention the fact that they started charging a deposit, which also feels weird). I have always recommended Ctaste so wholeheartedly to so many people in the past but I would be very hesitant to do so anymore, as it went from a genuine experience to a tourist trap feeling.

Eating at Ctaste is a unique experience. They have a small area where you can have a drink first. You will then be led to the dining room where you will be placed in a polonaise. It is pitch dark there! Hence no photos of the food, phones not allowed because of the light. The food was tasty, but the food was a bit clumsy. Now you can imagine what it's like to be blind with food. Service was great, nice hostess and the service is visually impaired, which of course fits in perfectly. It's also nice to see that they have a place here that suits them well. Atmosphere was special because it is dark. I think that ultimately I want to be able to look at people, that is an important element of eating out for me. But for those who haven't been here yet: do it, it's a cool experience!

I was so excited about this date and the promise of a unique experience, especially with all the glowing reviews. Sadly, it turned out to be the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. The food was tasteless and seemed like it had been pulled straight from the fridge and thrown onto a plate. Honestly, I’ve had better meals from a grocery store. I ended up spending 2.5 hours there, not because I was enjoying the time, but because it took 30–40 minutes for them to bring out each course. To make things worse, they completely forgot about my dessert. The entire evening felt like a frustrating waste of time. For €90, this was shockingly overpriced—I wouldn’t even pay €20 for such terrible food and service. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

I was really waiting for this experience thinking that it will be something extraordinary. Actually, it was a bit extraordinary, as I couldn’t see anything, however, this is the only thing I liked. I would say first 10 min before you get served are the best. After you get food, you understand that the restaurant is just about the darkness, not about the food. Food served was really cheap and not really tasty. Just something you can buy yourself at grocery store for 10 EUR (experience was 50 EUR pp). Between the servings you wait for 30 mins, even though, they don’t cook, they just place the ready meal on a plate. So, I would not recommend this experience.

The two stars are for the room staff. if customers respected the concept of immersion in a room cut off from light by turning off their cell phone or connected watch, the experience would then be complete and not spoiled! it is noted on the site that mobile phones and connected watches are put in a box before entering the room but this is not the case! The menu... we chose the 3-course menu for €49 Starter: 4 sushis, the rice was dry and the tastes very bland. The dish: a sort of stew, the meat was dry and hard, the potatoes were well cooked, fortunately. Dessert: a trio, a chocolate mousse, good, a forest fruit ice cream with salted pistachios on top, we know why? and a Bavarian which was salty... we didn't finish our dessert. For the menu, we can still do much better! especially for €49/person! we did not enjoy the meal at all which was really not up to par and above all the experience was ruined thanks to a cell phone which rang and lit up the whole room during our meal, not to mention the connected watches.

Nice concept! The food was good (also well tailored to the concept), with sufficient courses. Service was friendly, but sometimes a bit direct (although that was part of the experience). All in all, very fun to do once!

The experience at Ctaste was truly unique! There were two of us and we were warmly welcomed and served. The whole evening was really something special and couldn't be compared to a normal dinner! At the beginning we were a bit overwhelmed, but you found your way around relatively quickly and definitely had something to laugh about. The food didn't really suit our taste, but that was secondary for us. The experience itself was definitely worth it and definitely something everyone should do. Next time we would rather book the chocolate tasting. Nevertheless, a very special and beautiful evening! :) It's nice that something like this exists

Super fun experience. Good service. Unfortunately the food and drinks were very disappointing. Especially for the price.

Really apreciate the fact that they manage to do real darkness and the fact that the waoters are blind. Is a trully empathic experience to feel for a short period how they perceive the world. The food was not so special. You receive instructions and explanations before but not very clear peocedure to ask everybody to put the smart watches out and the phones to plane mode. That created a few short lights moments that didn't helped the experience and also a bad reaction feon tbe other guests or the waiters

This was a great experience, lots of laughs. It turns out to be really difficult than expected to eat without sight. They have a new menu and the hot lunch is very tasty with many different flavors. I recommend it to everyone!

This was a very good experience. They make sure that you are comfortable and safe. It was a really good experience, seeing absolutely nothing and experiencing that the taste is more prominent. It didnt take long to get adjusted to the light again, but it was very comfortably in the dark as well.

Experience eating in the dark! We were received in an attractively lit room, where we were welcomed 😊. We were asked to leave our phones and other light sources behind. We were taken through a poloneze after the restaurant until the world was completely dark. Sounds of cutlery, conversations of other guests, and the smells of the dishes create a unique atmosphere. The hands feel along the table to find the dishes. The experience is unusual, perhaps even a bit awkward at first. But slowly the senses begin to awaken and the focus shifts. A juicy steak tastes different in the dark 😋, the spices in a sauce become more intense, and the crispy sound of a crispy roll becomes a pleasure for the ears. Eating in the dark is more than just a unique dining experience. It's an opportunity to slow down, reflect and experience the world around you with different senses. It is an adventure that you really have to experience. This is unbelievable 😍 We must be so happy with our lives and what we have......speechless

The experience and service were the only highlights of this afternoon. + friendly welcome - toilet was questionable, broken wall/loose toilet... if that is your reception, you will immediately create concerns about the condition of the kitchen/food. And that turned out to be right; mediocre and barely filling. - waiter at the table asks what menu and dietary requirements (were also asked upon receipt) - table feels sticky and not completely clean - you have to wait a LONG time between the dishes. In the end it took more than 3 hours, including more than an hour of waiting. Happy good company - hot dishes on cold plates - starter of something like salad. Side dish main course again salad. (Then add something like potato/fries) - ridiculous amount of fat on the tough lukewarm meat, asked for something else. We also received the questionable eggplant. - special beer/wine menu, felt cheap and especially like cheap junk. - Larissa was great, so was Michael and the lady at reception. What could have been a SUPER concept was very disappointing for us. Especially looking at the price/quality. cook something together at home with the lights off and it's probably more than this in total...

Dining in the dark was a unique experience. You take your sight for granted and don't realize how important it is until you do something like this, eating in complete darkness.

What a special experience! The concept of dining in the dark was something we had never experienced before, and it made the dinner extra special. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed at reception. We received a clear explanation of how the concept works, which immediately put us at ease. The service provided by Novel was truly excellent. How he guided us to our place so smoothly and without visibility was impressive. He was super friendly, helpful and made us feel good. Despite the challenges of the dark concept, his service was perfect. The guessing element at the end, where we could try to guess what we had eaten, completed it. A unique and fun experience that we definitely recommend trying!

We had dinner here with friends and had a lot of fun. From trying to pour water to missing cutlery, you'll have a lot of fun. The food was also tasty and very surprising! Nice service who also enjoys having a chat. Because it is completely dark (yes you really can't see anything and no you won't see anything after a while) the sound in the hall is louder. We sat in the small room and we were very happy with that. Perhaps something can be done with the acoustics, but it is certainly because you have one sense less. An experience that we will do again in a heartbeat ☺️

The food is tasty but really not enough. For this amount of money you should be served a sandwich or a plate of fries. A major drawback is that we could not sit at one table with 7 people. So we sat behind each other. The manager on site did not seem to understand that this is a downer for groups.

Review of Rijks – Vegetarian Tasting Menu (Tuin | Garden) Walking into Rijks, you immediately sense that this isn’t a “typical museum restaurant.” It’s refined without being intimidating, and the service sets the tone for what turns out to be a remarkable dining journey. For my first-ever vegetarian tasting menu — and at a Michelin-starred restaurant — I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Courses & Impressions... Tomaat (Tomato, Strawberry, Honey, Basil) A surprising opener that danced between savory and sweet. The brightness of tomato lifted by basil, with strawberry and honey adding both freshness and depth, instantly set the stage for how imaginative this menu would be. Fruits de Terre (Amazake, Shio Koji, Poppy Seed Tahini) Earthy, nutty, and umami all at once. The amazake and shio koji provided a subtle fermentation complexity, while the tahini grounded the dish. A fascinating “soil-meets-ferment” plate that showed just how far vegetables can go in flavor expression. Tuinboon (Broad Bean, Sea Lavender, Pistachio, Lemon Verbena) This plate was a revelation in texture — the creaminess of the beans, the gentle crunch of pistachio, and an herbal lift from lemon verbena. It tasted like a garden in peak summer, delicate but assertive. Pom Pom Blanc (Lion’s Mane, Celeriac Bordelaise, Hollandaise, Curry Leaf Oil) Lion’s mane mushrooms are often praised for their “meaty” bite, and here they were elevated with a Bordelaise richness and the silkiness of hollandaise. The curry leaf oil gave it a subtle aromatic twist. A dish that blurs the line between plant-based and classic French fine dining. Millefeuille of Beetroot... The star of the menu! Even though it was an add-on, this was a piece of edible art. Beetroot layered like pastry, bringing both visual drama and earthy sweetness. Worth the indulgence. Glazed BBQ Tempeh (Oatmeal, Zucchini, Ajipanca) Smoky, hearty, and comforting, this was perhaps the most surprising course. Tempeh, often dismissed as “hippie food,” was transformed into something gourmet. The Peruvian ajipanca pepper added depth without overpowering. Bijenwas (Beeswax, Honey, Elderflower, Black Fruits) A poetic finish — floral, fruity, and lightly sweet. The beeswax brought an almost ethereal texture, while elderflower and black fruits tied it together like the closing note of a symphony. Overall Experience... This menu was one of the best gastronomic journeys of my life. Every dish was layered, thoughtful, and elegant... not once did it feel like a compromise for being a vegetarian meal. Instead, it showcased the creativity and depth that vegetables can offer when handled with care. Rijks isn’t just a place to eat; it’s an education in flavour, a conversation with Dutch soil, and a reminder that vegetables can stand proudly at the center of haute cuisine. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unforgettable, and worth returning to Amsterdam for!!!

What a joke, ordered “big” shawarma and it was a tiny portion and just terrible overall. Scam
