We had a delicious meal here yesterday. They have amazing bread, and the pasta was also very good. Definitely recommended! We'll definitely be back. And a very nice atmosphere with friendly staff.

Disappointing experience. The pizza has a hard, black edge. The center is mushy and impossible to eat out of hand. A comment was made. The answer: that's how Neapolitan-style pizza is. Oh yeah, and the drink was wrong.

Delicious Italian food in the heart of the city! The pizza has a very light crust and pureed tomato, not tomato sauce. It was delicious. The tenderloin was also delicious, very tasty. The Italian-speaking host is also an entertainer.

Everything was great. The food was delicious, the wait time was short even though it was very busy, and the prices were very reasonable despite being downtown. The service was incredibly friendly and accommodating, just as it should be. I'll definitely be back!

I can't remember how many times we've been to Da Carlo, but it's always a joy to drive from Rotterdam to Groningen and make it a regular occurrence to visit. We felt very appreciated. The atmosphere was very nice, the servers were very nice, the food was abysmal. My main was a seafood lasagne that was half frozen inside and I returned it, I asked for a buffalo cheese/ tomato salad instead which had a big hair in it. The kids pizzas were sloppy and burnt on the back and my husbands meat lasagne ranges between boiling hot and luke warm throughout. Luckily the wine was nice.

Eating outside is especially enjoyable here. Excellent value for money, but it takes some getting used to the new chef!

Truly the best Italian restaurant we've ever eaten at. Truly delicious, and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. We'll definitely be back.

We had pizza here. Before the pizza was served, a waitress came and asked to swap the knife on the table for a "real pizza knife." Well, it was definitely necessary; it was hard work to cut through the crust. The pizza tasted fine, though. We also saw dishes go back to the kitchen twice (and there was a discussion between the kitchen and the staff). Given the other reviews, this might have been a snapshot, but we'll eat pizza somewhere else next time.

We stumbled upon Da Carlo rather spontaneously via Google, but what an absolute stroke of luck it turned out to be! From the very beginning, we were warmly welcomed by an incredibly authentic and attentive waiter. Despite not having a reservation, we were graciously offered a lovely outdoor table where we could soak in the charming atmosphere of Groningen. 🥰 Following the waiter’s excellent recommendations, we started our evening with a delicious bruschetta and refreshing drinks. The food was nothing short of amazing – the Pasta Carbonara was hands down the best I’ve had in a long time, and the Pizza Quattro Formaggi was absolutely phenomenal. 🍕🍝 What truly made the evening special, however, was the heartwarming hospitality. It was inspiring to see someone do their job with such genuine passion and joy. You could really feel the love and dedication behind every detail. This little restaurant may have been a lucky find, but I would return any time – again and again. A truly delightful experience! 🇮🇹🥰

I had bruchetta as a starter and ravioli with mushrooms as a main course. The bruchetta was much too hard for me, and the mozzarella was average. The ravioli with mushrooms (a house specialty) was very tasty. But at €20, the portion should have been larger. The service was friendly. We sat outside, which was nice, but also a bit noisy due to the heavy traffic.

Had a great meal with colleagues. We had a group menu. Delicious antipasti and bruschettas as a starter. Then a table full of 3 delicious pastas and 3 types of pizzas. It took a long time after the main course to be cleared, but that was the only comment. It was also just a busy evening in the restaurant. We will definitely come back!

Everything was delicious. The staff is very nice. Especially the Italian waiter was very energetic. The pizza and pasta taste delicious.

Had a lovely dinner here, the food is nice but the wait time for the food is quite long and they forgot our order (although they did offer compensation for it). The waiter and staff were very friendly The atmosphere was not so good, we were seated right next to a toilet door that was very violent when opening/closing.

Fast service, friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere and good location. Ideal after a visit to the Pathe cinema. Price/quality could be better as well as the assortment, could be more extensive.

Last week I had dinner at Da Carlo in Groningen. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, with a warm and cozy atmosphere. It is quite small, with two floors and tables that are close together – something to keep in mind if you like a bit more space. We started with a selection of starters with all kinds of small snacks. These were all tasty and well seasoned. As a main course I chose the lasagna with fish. A surprising and tasty combination, although the temperature was unfortunately a bit disappointing – it seemed as if the dish had been in the oven for a bit too short, which meant that it was not warm enough. Too bad, because the taste was otherwise fine. All in all a great experience, with tasty dishes in a cozy setting, with a few minor points of attention.

We have been coming to Da Carlo for 20 years. Farsad, the owner, is a host through and through! Wait staff are fantastic too. The quality of the food is always good. Definitely recommended!

Yesterday for the first time at Da Carlo. Delicious food and super friendly and fast service despite the crowds. We will definitely come back!

Upon entering, addressed in Italian and English by what appears to be the manager. Eating pizza with an experience, not reserved for 2 people. Ask if we could eat within an hour, "yes, of course". Pizza on the table within 20 minutes and delicious food. Even time for dessert and coffee. Arrive on time or make a reservation.

Eating at Da Carlo is a small party. You notice a good and cozy vibe when you enter. The people in the service are nice, hospitable and fast. Of course we didn't come just for that. After a drink the pizzas were served surprisingly quickly while the place was really full. The pizza exceeded our expectations. Delicious base with a topping that was perfectly balanced. Not too much, not too little. In short: recommended! We will be back soon.

Not the first time I ate here and it was fantastic again. Besides the fact that the food is of high quality, the staff is very hospitable and the atmosphere is relaxed. When we are in Groningen again, we will definitely go to Da Carlo again!

Sitting outside by the window the heater works but they say it's broken...put the plug inside!! Waited almost an hour and a half 😏lasagna lump of dough inside! The rest was doable... But we won't go back!!! Too bad I've never had to write a bad review in my life😔

If you love waiting: the place to go!!!! Waited at least 50minutes and got told the food would be there ‘soon’. 10 minutes later I asked again and they said something went wrong??? All of this for 1 pizza, 1 pasta and 1 lasagna

I've visited with my mom three times so far and we've always been really happy. The pizza is great but especially the service has always been excellent. Super warm and welcoming without being overbearing. I'd absolutely recommend it!

The service, the food, the timing, everything about this restaurant is amazing. The only negative would be that the tables are a bit close to each other which could get loud sometimes but overall I would highly suggest this place, one of my favorite restaurants in Groningen for sure!

TRIED TO MAKE ME PAY FOR THEIR OWN MISTAKE After stressing that I am allergic towards cheese to one of the waiters , I was told that the aglio e olio dish did not have any. When I received it, it had cheese anyway . I quickly said this to one of the waiters, to which he replied “you have to pay an extra amount for having no cheese because it is against the policy of the restaurant.” And tried to make me take the blame for their own mistake. Later, he came apologising saying that it was indeed their screw up. This type of situation should not be happening in this type of a ln establishment and it’s a disappointment. Especially when he tried to GASLIGHT me saying there was never cheese on the dish, until i pulled out a picture from a couple of months ago showing that the dish didn’t have cheese. Apart from this terrible service, the aglio olio ended up having no taste, and tasted just like plain chili. The spaghetti bolognese was also tasteless.

I messed up my reservation (booked it 2 hours early by accident), and the staff were really nice and able to make room for us without any issue. Very much appreciated! Food was great too.

My daughter and I were in Groningen for a concert in the Oosterpoort. We have a tradition of eating at an Italian restaurant before a concert. That's why we made a reservation at Da Carlo. Nice menu, fantastic food, friendly and attentive service. Good advice, what more could you want. If we are ever in Groningen again, we know where we will eat!

The lasagna I ordered was really too dry. I sent an email but unfortunately did not receive any response.

Yesterday we had a spontaneous meal with a group of 8 people. We had called half an hour in advance to ask if there was still room: there was! A really great place to eat. The food was delicious and the waitress was super friendly (and gave us good recommendations about the tastiest dishes, but also the best pasta per sauce, etc.). The food came surprisingly quickly too. We were a large group, but the food did not take longer than you would 'normally' expect if you are with a small group. The desserts are also very tasty. Everyone had 1-2 drinks, a main course and dessert, in the end we ended up with less than €40 per person. We would love to come back here!

Had a delicious meal at Da Carlo last night! I was on the waiting list and luckily a spot became available. The atmosphere is typically Italian, so cozy and somewhat noisy. But the service, food, wine and limoncello were delicious. Highly recommended!
