We had made a reservation and we were given a table next to the restroom and right next to the party table where a bachelor party was being held. The response was sorry. Just no class! We left.

Delicious food in a cozy place.

Small pizza for €19.30, soggy crust and very salty.

The service was uninterested (possibly due to inexperience?); did not ask if we enjoyed the meal or anything similar. They bluntly placed the drinks on the table. The spaghetti nero looked unappetizing and contained hardly any fish compared to the amount of spaghetti. We had a very cramped spot.

The food there is always exceptionally good!! The host is very friendly, making you feel welcome. The only downside is that it is a fairly small and popular restaurant and is always full. Normally that doesn't bother me, but we were seated upstairs and there was a group present, making it difficult for us to understand each other.

Thanks to the team at Da Carlo for taking care of my daughter who arrived to the restaurant feeling dizzy. They immediately attended to her and showed genuine concern while the rest of the family arrived separately later. The food was EXCELLENT but the attitude of the staff moved me. Enjoy a lovely, atmospheric time

We had a delicious meal. We chose the set menu. The main course was more than enough.

The signature dish was specially prepared off the menu. The food was delicious.

The young waiter is very polite and attentive. The service was very fast even though the restaurant was busy. The food is always delicious and the prices are reasonable for the size of the portion you get. One of my favourite Italians in Groningen, I always come back.

I was back here again after 6 months for work. It's always nice and busy and noisy, but I imagine that's part of a real Italian restaurant. The food was very tasty again and the service pleasant. This is highly recommended.

I went to this restaurant with my family because, as Italians, we wanted to try an Italian restaurant, and I can confirm the Italian-ness of the Margherita pizza, which seems to have come straight from a Neapolitan oven. We were also lucky enough to watch the college welcome parade from our seat. We'll definitely be back if we have the chance.

Da Carlo is a charming restaurant with very friendly staff. That is why I have been coming here for years. Today I sat on the terrace and enjoyed a delicious burrata pizza. Highly recommended!!

We celebrated our civil wedding at Da Carlo and couldn't have wished for a better ending to the day. The food was truly delicious, and we were served in an incredibly nice and hospitable manner. The team at Da Carlo really thought along with us: because it was our wedding, we wanted to do something special with the dessert. As a surprise, they brought a beautiful tiramisu in the shape of a cake, which we could cut together at the table. This was truly amazing! The team clearly did everything they could to make it a successful and special evening for us, and they absolutely succeeded. Dear team, thank you so much for the fantastic evening and the beautiful memory! ❤️

The food, the atmosphere, the service—the whole package is perfect. I can't remember how many times we've been to Da Carlo, but it's always a joy to drive from Rotterdam to Groningen and make it a regular occurrence to visit. We felt very appreciated. Everything was perfectly organized. Service was fast, good, and friendly, and above all, competently managed.

Saw this place on google maps, was like: “italian food is always good, and this place is well reviewed”. Best pizza me and my girlfriend have EVER had. 10/10 Loved it. Fast service, amazing pizza and cozy atmosphere. Little crowded though. Will come again. Spent €43 euros on 2 pizzas and 2 soft drinks.

Pizzas contained relatively a lot of cheese and little topping, and had somewhat burnt crusts. The taste was good but not special.

It might seem a bit crazy that I'm giving 5 stars everywhere except for the overall experience; this is because the only thing missing at da Carlo is a more extensive cocktail menu. A mojito or a pornstar martini would make it absolutely perfect 🤪 otherwise 10/10. Best Italian restaurant ever

Super cozy restaurant where you can eat really delicious food.

A very nice restaurant. Cozy atmosphere. Very friendly staff. The food was SUPERB. We had pasta (very authentic) and pizza. Both were delicious. The dessert (tiramisu) was also highly recommended. The wait was very short. We were finished with everything after just 45 minutes.

The food was fine, both the pizza and the meat dishes. The dessert is something you would go there especially for, delicious.. Due to the busyness, serving took a little longer, but apologies were offered for this several times.. it was understandable given the situation.. In short, great food and friendly service, Top!

Had a delicious meal in a pleasant atmosphere. It takes some getting used to being addressed in English in the Netherlands. Not because of the language, but well, we still live in the Netherlands and there is probably nothing else to be found in terms of staff. All in all, a fine restaurant with good food and excellent service.

We have been coming to Da Carlo for 20 years. Farsad, the owner, is a host through and through! The serving staff is also fantastic. The food is always of high quality. Highly recommended!

The terrace is located on a busy street.

Terrible service. I was absolutely not satisfied. I had ordered two items. One was brought to me; apparently, you have to eat that COMPLETELY first before you get your pizza. I didn't know that, so after waiting for 45 minutes, I finally asked when the pizza would arrive. She said, "Yes, that won't come until you've finished the sandwiches." I received no apologies, nothing. I left dissatisfied. (Whereas the previous times we did get the pizza right after the sandwiches.)

Unfortunately, not a good pizza. Dough soggy and the bottom burnt.

We had a super delicious meal, it was pleasantly busy, and the wait wasn't too bad. Top-notch Italian food.

Very disappointing experience. We used to come here before, and back then it was a nice place to eat. But this time, the service was so aggressive in clearing away glasses and plates that I couldn't even talk quietly with my girlfriend for 5 minutes before the staff were already standing at our table again. That's why we left immediately after dinner and had a drink elsewhere. The food itself was okay. Overall, a real shame.

I’ve been here twice, both I waited 1 hour for a pizza. And almost 15 minutes for getting a slice of cake. If you run a restaurant like this in Italy you will be out of business in 2 weeks. Food too pricy messed up for the quality presented

A top-notch restaurant with super friendly staff. I was here for an anniversary dinner with my girlfriend and had some special requests, which were handled perfectly. The food is delicious, the service is good, and the atmosphere is lovely. I would definitely recommend making a reservation, as it gets really busy on weekends.

If you receive an email saying: “give my opinion,” you would think that I have to give your opinion. I don't know it!

My friends and I felt very nauseous shortly after eating. Prices were high for the quality. The staff was not friendly. Drinks took longer than fifteen minutes; I just cancelled the last order after we had been waiting for 20 minutes. Very bad.

I was not satisfied with my pizza. I had a Quattro Stagioni, but anchovies, capers, and Gorgonzola were barely to be found. It was mainly dough/crust. I didn't say anything about it last night; I didn't feel like arguing. At many different, cheaper pizzerias, I get a better-topped pizza. We couldn't sit outside in the shade because all the tables were supposedly reserved. There was only one table available in the sun. That is why we just went inside. However, when we left an hour later, most of the tables were still free. So we could have easily sat there (possibly with a closing time, for a future reservation).

It's been a long time since I was last here, I've missed it a lot! The food was really delicious! The service was also - as always - very nice. Highly recommended: Pizza Carpacciata and Spaghetti Carbonara Original.

We stopped by today on a whim, and the menu had really appealed to us beforehand – something different from the usual Margarita or Salami. We had made a reservation in advance, but in hindsight, it wasn't necessary. We were very impressed with our pizzas. Delicious and, most importantly, served very quickly!

Tasty pizzas reasonably priced. Drinks, though, are very expensive.

Quality used to be good, since 2026 it has been terrible. Dough is routinely over salted and thereby its fermentation is messed up. The chef does not know how to stretch it without giving the customers a mouthful of semolina on the bottom. The oven is always too cold with the number of pizzas they cook back to back, leaving sad, measles pizza.

Always friendly service, delicious food, and a great atmosphere! I actually never tip when I eat out, but I do here. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately, I was not impressed. The burrata on the pizza was very dry inside (see photo) and did not seem fresh. The service was very rushed.

I might like somewhat more traditional Italian cuisine, but it was a bit disappointing. Everything was somewhere between a 5 and a 7, and certain dishes were too salty. If you are looking for truly traditional Italian food, you had better look elsewhere. If you are looking for more "Dutch" Italian food, then you will certainly leave here satisfied.

We arrived with a party of eleven people, which required us to order a set menu. This menu, without antipasti, consisted exclusively of a main course and no dessert. The menu prices were calculated per person and were the same for both children and adults. The portion size per person was insufficient, even though there were five children/teenagers in our party: three pasta dishes and five pizzas. Unfortunately, the service was poor.

It was very chaotic and the staff didn't really pay attention to you. They also seemed very rushed. Otherwise, they were friendly. The food was pretty good, nothing wrong with it, just tasty food, though not perfect or amazing. The atmosphere was fine, nicely decorated, but I was seated under the stairs, so it's a bit of an odd place to put a table. Still, just a cozy little Italian place with pretty good food and such. Just a nice place to eat out, but don't expect too much.

Pasta carbonara speziale was delicious!

The food was very tasty, I reccomend getting the Aglio e olio pasta. The cocktails were good and so was the wine. The only part was we waited for about an hour for the food to arrive, but I can say it was worth it.

It was pleasantly busy. But the staff remained very friendly. And the food is simply delicious. We will definitely be back. Keep up the good work.

From a straightforward, spontaneous booking for six people to paying, Da Carlo had a wonderful and very enjoyable stay! The pizza was amazing and definitely one of the best pizzas I (58 years old) have ever eaten. Plus, it was excellent value for money! We'll definitely be back!

Yesterday, a friend and I went here for dinner. We were shown to a table, and then we had to wait half an hour to order our drinks. Eventually, we just raised our hand ourselves, and the waiter told us we had to wait a moment. After well over half an hour, we were finally able to order drinks. When we finished our main course, the plates were cleared away quite late. Finally, when we asked to pay, we felt we were not taken seriously, and we even got the impression that we were being laughed at! We found all of this very disappointing, because we had been really looking forward to eating there as the food is always very tasty, but the friendliness and customer service could be better!

Very good as always. Top-notch service from Antonio and Ivan. We will be back.

I’ve been there 3 times so far, and every time it’s been a top-notch experience. After the first time, I definitely wanted to come back again because I loved the pastas so much. The second time I tried a different pasta, which was a great success again. And the third time I had the same pasta as the last time, even though I don't usually order the same thing twice, because I often enjoy trying something different. But that penne milanese was so delicious, and I had it again tonight—truly great! The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed. You feel welcome and heard. So far, this is a restaurant I will definitely be visiting again!

The waitress spoke English (which in itself is not a problem) but spoke very softly, making her completely unintelligible.

We arrived a little earlier than planned, and they immediately checked if we could sit down, which we could. We first had a drink outside. We had a wonderful seat upstairs with a beautiful view. Went in with friends during Winterwelvaart without a reservation. There was still a table for four. Friendly, efficient service. All the pizzas were delicious. We'll definitely be back. The traditional carbonara seems like something for my next visit. Highly recommended.
