Italia Groningen in Centrum

I have walked past this restaurant many times but never before tried to eat here. We booked in advance and think on a Saturday it is probably wise as it was busy. Pizza was good, and the tiramisu. Definitely worth a visit. The service was very good, and they had a high chair for our 2 year old. No children's size meals though.

Pizzas were not really tasty, soft and limp base and baked too quickly. It's too cramped and too busy.

I have been here many times. The quality is over the top. Never miss the Pizza with prosciutto di Parma and the Tiramisù.

Had pizza there on King's Day. Pizza was delicious and service (despite being very busy) very friendly. It's a shame that there was a separate menu with fewer pizzas (I can still get into that) But it's a shame that the prices are being raised for this day. Yesterday Oct 11, 2024 Went to eat pizza at Italia again. Very much against it. Not that it was very dirty, but the grease was dripping off. It was reported but nothing was done with it. It came from the fish, they said. Well, very strange because we have had this pizza many times before. Terrible stomach pain and heartburn at night. Shame!

Price quality is excellent. The pizzas aren't great, but the price is right too! We had pizza with gorgonzola. It had dairy gorgonzola on it that we had to scoop it off. Way too much. Not in balance. The service was bad last time. We were sitting somewhere in the back (because they want us to) and for a moment I had the feeling that they had forgotten us. So it took a long time. We sat uncomfortably in the back.

Nicely decorated restaurant with very friendly service. The seating inside is a bit cramped but the absolutely delicious food definitely makes up for it. Prices are also reasonable, you get good quality for your money.

I called them over the phone and asked for a table for two persons in 30 minutes, told me it's okay. Walked with my wife towards them for 30 minutes and once I arrived they told me sorry we have no reservation under your name. Disappointing.

Super tasty fresh dishes, great service and a delicious dessert

We ate great. Food was amazing, we had the Romana pasta, super real! The service was also very friendly and relatively quick considering the store was completely full. Great visit :D

Decent enough when it isn't too crowded; if you are inside, in a full room, it can be noisy! Service is quite relaxed — I began to wonder if we should have ordered dessert wine because it took so long to arrive!

Italia in Groningen offers authentic Italian cuisine with a cozy atmosphere and friendly service. The pizza and pasta are standout dishes, made with fresh ingredients and rich flavors. A great spot for a relaxed meal in the city.

Actually everything was fine, except the toilet was a nice mess, which was a shame. Therefore 4 stars instead of 5.

Pizza is not exactly Italian. Otherwise tasty, but I missed the tomato pulp.

My favorite dish here was the Lasagna until last week when the lasagna was overcooked (burnt from the sides) and dry. Usually they give a good amount of sauce with the lasagna, so when I sent the dish back asking for more sauce they took it back happily only to return the kind of same dish which was just less dry

Please note: gluten-free base costs €4.50 extra! This is a ready-made base that was very tough. What a disappointment. No photo of the pizza, because I didn't intend to write a review. But this is too absurd not to share. Furthermore, you can sit outside in the busy street (except for the very urgent begging bums) and the service was friendly. However, it took a very long time for everything to arrive on the table and the service seemed not to know the menu. "We don't have fresh tea..."

Delicious pizza, richly topped and on the table within about 20 minutes. Friendly staff. You don't pay the top prize. Keep it up🤌🏻

In terms of taste it was really a disappointment, with very little or no seasoning at all. Lasagna was very greasy. Seemed hot in the microwave. Staff was very reserved. I'm not coming back

The pizzas from Italia are fine to eat, too much fat for my taste (a lake of oil on top of the pizza) but otherwise OK. I wouldn't immediately recommend having a bite to eat here, there are better options.

What a delicious pizza! Even better than previous years. The pastas and new Italian Radler are also simply great. Friendly service, nice casual informal atmosphere and very acceptable prices. While many restaurants are gradually declining, the opposite is happening here... it just keeps getting even better.

I don't really feel like the customer comes first. I eat vegetarian and I ordered a salad where I wanted salmon instead of chicken. So a small adjustment. But that wasn't possible. For me that is a reason not to come back to this pizzeria.

We had a great pizza in a great atmosphere. The employees were really caring and experienced. The pizzas were very satisfying and large.

The cook just didn't want to cook well. It wasn't good. I noticed it in the service but nothing, nada, in short, I don't recommend.

Fantastic spot in Groningen! The costs for the various dishes are not too bad (which is also the reason why many students were here). There is a wide choice between the different dishes, they not only have pasta and pizzas on the menu, but also steaks, pork tenderloin with mushroom sauce, etc. The service was a bit busier here and there, so you had to speak to yourself. But this is the case in many other places during the evening rush hour. A top spot in Groningen!

Four of us with 2 children had lunch here. At this point there were very few guests. We were served very nicely and got our food quickly. We all enjoyed it and the portions were more than enough.

The food here tastes really good! The lasagna alla casa was by far the best I have ever eaten. The pizza and cake were also very good. Service attentive and quick. The ambience inside is great, unfortunately you can see a construction site on the outside, but the restaurant can't help that. Always happy.

My lasagna didn't taste like anything and didn't look like one and the spaghetti carbonara was terribly greasy, swimming in oil. Service was zero: Two couples got up because after 5 minutes there was no service even though the store was completely empty. We had to go inside to pay because no one came. (The waitress was standing around chatting with someone who was probably more important than the guests) There were leftover food at several neighboring tables and seagulls were noisily attacking them. Once and never again

Asked for tagliatelle carbonara and got CUTTED PASTA with a half-done inconsistent carbonara and "guanciale", for all that I had to pay 20 euros adding 2 pepsis. This must have all been a joke because what on Earth did I just eat and paid so much for.

Have eaten here often. The chefs are actually Italian and you can taste that. The atmosphere is cozy yet chic thanks to subtle murals and frivolous decorations. It is a beautiful family business that has been running for about fifty years. If you are in Groningen, this is a piece of history that you cannot miss.

Pizza SO SO flavorful...not many words needed. Just go there. Highly recommended!

Ordered a vegetarian lasagna. What I got: a red soup with over-cooked lasagna sheets. Ate it with a spoon. Never again.

It feels like some kind of food factory. The waiters run back and forth and the home delivery person is waiting in the open kitchen. Radio 2 in the background for the kitchen staff. The food was delivered very quickly and I didn't think it was very special. There was no bread or salad with the pasta. The service was also not particularly alert or sympathetic. The decor is okay but without atmosphere. After dinner I usually have a drink, but we did that somewhere else this time.

Surprisingly good and nice pizzeria, just around the corner from Herestraat, in Kleine Pelsterstraat, in the heart of Groningen. I've walked past this many times, and from the outside it never looked very special. But I must say that the inside is quite attractive. And it is also quite large. That didn't change the fact that I sat outside on the terrace in front of the business today. Here I was welcomed most friendly and provided with the menu. In addition to pizza, there are a number of pasta dishes on the menu. I had a particularly good carpaccio as a starter! And as a main course a great pizza Gondoliere.

The food was delicious, but the atmosphere was very noisy. There were people with screaming children, which did not improve the atmosphere. They became deaf from the screams.

Food was delicious as always. However, our table was confused three times with the table on the other side of the restaurant, which meant that our drinks and food were always placed on the wrong people's table. Furthermore, friendly staff and we didn't have to make a reservation :)

Unfortunately the food was really not tasty and was not eaten. Both the calzone and the spicy lasagna only tasted like salami. The garlic salami was so overpowering that nothing else could be tasted. The pasta could only be eaten with more than 1.5 kilos of salt and pepper on it. My heartburn is still coming up. Very sad.

Not to eat. Pizza half cooked. The pasta only contains 5 pieces of chicken. In addition, pizza is brought and the bag is literally flashed from above, the bag is completely written in. Also forgot the herb butter. The staff doesn't care at all. Never again.

Pizzas were delicious. Only the price on the card should be leading. The bill stated a higher amount than the amount on the menu, I reported this and received the response that the price on the menu was incorrect and that I simply had to pay the higher price. Very customer unfriendly

Price-quality is fantastic; we have been here many times and everything is tasty: pizzas, pasta, lasagna is delicious (traditional and vegetarian). This last time we had lunch and it was also delicious: lasagna tradizionale and pinsa capresse. If you go in the evening and you dont have a reservation it is okay; they find you a seat quickly (the restaurant is quite big!).

Despite having no reservation and the printer being there, we were still able to get a picture, just great and nothing to say about the food either, and nice and quick staff

Delicious food for a good price

Entering this restaurant can only be described as how I imagine it would be to be a fly locked in a jar, sitting atop a bass boosted speaker blasting cafe chatter ambiance white noise at full volume. Couldn’t last 2 minutes inside with this level of visceral sensorial assault. Definitely would not recommend this to anyone with auditory sensitivity.

It took a very long time before the order was taken. Then had to wait 45 minutes for the drink, which came at the same time as the food. In between, all employees were too busy to say anything about this at all. In addition, the quality of the pizzas was downright bad. The ingredients taste like they came from the cheapest supermarket and have been in the refrigerator for a week. You could practically stir the pizza and eat it with a spoon. The plus point was that you could also use the pizza as a paddling pool. For the same price you can get more quality and service at other pizzerias in the center.

As an Italian consumer, this was the worst pizza I ever had in my entire life. My pizza was very watering. Too much ingredients and this made impossible to eat one slice without loosing all of them. I don't have big expectations when I go to eat pizza somewhere else in Europe, but from a pizzeria called ITALIA, at least I expected it to be well cooked and able to be eaten without all the pieces watering and falling apart.

Ate here yesterday. For a Dutch pizza it was mediocre, for an Italian one it was really bad, sorry. The various fish on my pizza (for which an entire sea had been emptied) were swimming again, due to the large layer of water on the pizza. To mask the water spectacle, there was a large slice of white cheese on top of the pizza, something that should resemble mozzarella. If you like a lot of ingredients and don't mind having the North Sea on your pizza, you should definitely eat here. The cocktails were good and so was the coffee. Staff were friendly.
