Il Lago restaurant in Zuidwest

Deze week weer eens bij Il Lago gegeten. We waren met z’n vieren en hadden een plaats in de serre. Binnen is zoveel gezelliger qua sfeer en verlichting maar blijkbaar was daar geen plaats meer voor ons terwijl er ook tafels zonder stoelen stonden. Stond er wat apart bij. Voorgerecht was lekker, wel veel. De porties zijn sowieso erg groot. Qua kwaliteit is het een zeven min, ook qua personeel. Niet erg attent, wel vriendelijk maar niet altijd even oplettend. Kortom prima avond maar ik zou dit niet direct aanraden. De pasta met ossenhaas was heerlijk trouwens, de desserts weer wat minder.

Nice restaurant with friendly service. The food, on the other hand, was mediocre. Tough pizza base and flat in taste. A lot of vegetables and very little meat. Salami was bland and gorgonzola was missing and that was on the menu. We won't be there again.

We come here regularly and it is always a great experience! The service is excellent; the staff are friendly, professional and always make you feel welcome. As for the quality of the food, it is always consistently high. The pastas are perfectly prepared, the pizzas tasty and the wines excellently selected. It is clear that they are passionate about the Italian food they serve. Whether we come with friends or have a romantic evening out, we are sure we will always be in the right place here. Definitely recommended for anyone who loves Italian dishes!

With an order for 9 people you have to take your time. At one point (after 1 hour) we asked how long it would take.

We've been returning to Il Lago for years, and it consistently delivers a high-quality Italian dining experience in Groningen. On our most recent visit, the Spaghetti alla Carbonara was as perfect as ever, the pizza was excellent, and the tiramisu lived up to its reputation as one of our favorites. The atmosphere remains warm and inviting, perfect for celebrating special occasions. Booking in advance is recommended.

Ate another delicious Lasagna Gorgonzola, accompanied by a delicious glass of Primitivo. Very friendly service and also a top chef. Highly recommended

Cozy restaurant with delicious food. Had dinner here with pasta and pizza. Good portions and really delicious. Pizzas are neither dry nor too greasy, generously topped. The tiramisu is fantastic! Just as good as in Italy.

A good restaurant, where you can enjoy a delicious meal while enjoying the beautiful view of the Paterswoldsemeer. The atmosphere in the restaurant is lovely and the service very nice.

This really is a surprising gem that you wouldn't expect: an authentic Italian restaurant, hidden just outside the center of Groningen. But once you get there, you immediately understand why they are here. It feels like a little escape to Italy, with warm Italian staff, dishes full of flavor and love, and a beautiful location where you can enjoy a relaxing meal. Everything is freshly prepared, and you can taste it – every dish is a treat. The updated menu is full of wonderful surprises. Oh, and parking? No hassle, there is plenty of room. We have been coming here for years and will certainly continue to do so. If you like real Italian, you simply have to try this!

Ever since Pino started here and later when Daniel and then his wife joined us, we as customers have often eaten with this lovely family to our complete satisfaction. Always good and with friendly service a pleasure to stay.

Very nice and atmospheric Italian restaurant on the Hoornsemeer in Groningen. I received a very friendly and hospitable welcome. Both the ambiance and the menu are of a high standard. You can choose from various Italian dishes. I went for an excellent carpaccio di manzo with truffle cream as a starter. And as a main course a pistacchio e mortadella pizza. Definitely recommended to visit!

Very large store, so as a customer you can quickly feel a bit lost in the crowd, especially when it is very busy, as in our case yesterday. The menu is fairly extensive, but not really special. The small number of fish and shellfish dishes is striking. A little Italian makes do with more, I think. The pizzas we ordered were of good quality. Beautiful base and enough ingredients to fill the stomach! The desserts are also very tasty and prepared and served with care. Compliments to the staff who, despite the crowds, did not let themselves be discouraged and remained wonderfully themselves, you sometimes see that differently!

We had dinner here with a group of 15 people at the end of September. (adults and number of children). It was a spontaneous action but Il Lago still had room for us. We were received very hospitably and we all had a delicious meal. Highly recommended!!

The food and ambiance is great! In my opinion this is one of the best restaurants in the Netherlands for pasta. We ordered the ravioli tartufo & the ravioli lobster, both were very tasty! The freshness was also very clearly noticeable in the pasta. I would recommend also having a starter because the portion of pasta is not huge. Finally, the service was also excellent. Every waitress was super friendly and they didn't make us feel like we had to leave quickly, which is something you often see in a busy restaurant these days. All in all, this is highly recommended!!!

More than an hour and a half after the starter, the main courses arrived. With an apology from the waitress, but the owner was hiding in the kitchen. The tortalini with arugula had exactly two wilted leaves. Prices of dishes reasonable, drinks expensive.

Cozy and remarkably good service. Very good for each other. Great food!..we will definitely come back again. One point for improvement is: there is little suitable for pregnant women among the starters. That should be different.

We have been coming to Il Lago for years and this time we sat on the roof terrace to the right upon entering. If the wind is favorable you can sit here. Otherwise it's quite chilly. We ordered a herb butter sandwich, Caprese pizza, a pizza with salmon, onion and peppers and a cheesecake for dessert. Everything was tasty. We will definitely come back here again. Pick up is also always good.

Niet zo best, biertje €5,95! Dat is wel erg duur. Service goed, wijn lekker. Steak medium rare besteld, werd doorgebakken geserveerd, steak van ander familielid medium besteld en was ook te ver. Jammer. bloemkool die er bij geserveerd werd was bruin en zwart en gewoon niet vers, wat te zien en te proeven was.

Delicious food and very well arranged for 11 people. It was my old father's birthday and the waitress was so good and sweet (she with the Labrador at home), really great.

Spaghetti Bolognaise... A very meager plate...filled to just over half. Whether my girlfriend wants a glass of water with her wine... That's thoughtful, go ahead. A bottle of (tap) water is placed which, on closer inspection, costs €6.50 🤔 No more Il Lago for us...

I always enjoy being here! The atmosphere is simply fantastic and the service is first class. Chef Francesco makes everyone feel welcome, including children and dogs. The restaurant is always busy, especially during the week and on weekends. Nevertheless, thanks to Francesco, everything remains under control. Highly Recommended!

Had dinner here tonight with a group of 50 people. It was a private party and they had organized it so well! Everything was discussed, more than enough of everything and it was very tasty! Staff super friendly! A great evening!

Amazing pizza, great portions, and super friendly and attentive staff. The only small thing is that they don't have umbrellas on the open area, but that's not a problem for the most part of the year anyways. Would recommend👍.

I was alone. Maybe that's why I had to wait a long time for the menu while guests who came in after me were already eating their starters. The glass of wine was warm and therefore did not taste good. They won't see me there again for the time being.

Always nice to eat here. It's great that you can now also order your pizza in a smaller size. Then you will be full, and nothing will have to be thrown away!

Il Lago se encuentra en un pequeño centro comercial, arriba en un lugar sorprendentemente grande, incluso con una pequeña terraza. Un jueves por la noche estaba ocupado con un ambiente animado. La comida llegó rápido y era muy bueno, me gustó la pizza carbonara! Tienen un menú completo que incluye todos los cursos de italiano.

If you want tasty pizzas in a nice cozy atmosphere, Il Lago is the place to be. It starts as soon as you enter, you are warmly greeted and guided to your table. The food is delicious and the service fantastic. In short, a total experience.

Tasty food and very attentive staff. Large restaurant, also very suitable for families. The atmosphere is therefore not intimate or personal. I would be less likely to have a romantic dinner as a couple. Definitely recommended with a group or your family

De pizza was heerlijk maar de bediening was erg slecht. We bestelden ons 2e drankje op tijd maar kregen deze pas nadat we de pizza al op hadden. Ook werd het flesje cola geserveerd zonder glas. Deze brengen we nog.... Niet dus.... De cappuccino was een kopje hete melk zonder koffiesmaak. Ook is er met de glazen wijn ten opzichte van een aantal jaren geleden duidelijk een krimpflatie aan de hand. Al met al, wij komen er niet meer!

What more can I say, good entourage, nice wine, and some lovely food. Staff treated us well, definitely will go back in the near future.

Heerlijk gegeten. De bruschetta en salade met/van olijven vooraf. Voldoende tijd tussen het voor- en hoofdgerecht. Spaghetti Vongole en tagliatelle met ossenhaas. Niet te grote porties en het smaakte heerlijk. Vriendelijk personeel en goede sfeer.

Delicious food, we didn't have to wait long, the service was also friendly, and yes you do have to be able to understand English, although our waiter does his utmost to speak Dutch as well. One complaint though: you are asked if you want water, which is okay, but they arrive with a bottle without being asked. We said not necessary, but put it on the table anyway. We haven't touched it. But it was calculated anyway. Yes, €6.50 (!) per bottle. That is very expensive, 100% profit because they are not sealed bottles, so just scratch water. Then simply give free water with your meal. I think that's a real drawback

Started Easter with the family. The tasting beforehand and that was a great start. More than enough, leaving room for the main courses. Lots of pizzas and they were delicious. Also the pasta “Alfredo” and “Salmone” and then a dessert? Yes we do! Limoncello cake, strawberries with strawberry ice cream and even more goodies. Nice smooth service in a great ambiance. And they took special requests into account. Will definitely come back!

Met een groep collega’s genoten van het Il Lago arrangement. Proeverij van bruschetta, vleeswaren, kaas en heerlijk brood, daarna diverse pasta’s en pizza’s en als afsluiter een bord vol lekkere toetjes. Heerlijk! Zeer zeker voor herhaling vatbaar. Vlotte en vriendelijke bediening en meer dan waar voor je geld.

Been before years ago. The food is still of a high quality, with fresh ingredients. Service is friendly, not pushy and knows what they are talking about. Good wine in the range. This is highly recommended for adults, groups and children. The restaurant itself is attractive and neat.

Il Lago is really fantastic! Seriously, chef Pablo's food is just divine, the atmosphere is so cozy and the staff is just great! And that arugula pizza? Heavenly! Delicious food as always, but the fact that even if you say no, they still bring and charge extra bruchetta and baguette means that we will not be coming back for a while.

After a long time we had a delicious meal at Il Lago again. The design of the restaurant has changed and certainly for the better. It radiates heat. Of course we had a delicious meal again and the service was great.

After arriving in groningen and experimenting most of italian restaurants in the city, I decided to try Il Lago. I was a greeted by a familiar and homely environment, that combined with the light music playing in the background gave off the perfect atmosphere you look for in a place like this. We experimented one of the italian wine options and opted for the pino grigio, which was just fenomenal. We started by trying the italian proovarij as it was recommended by our sommelier. It was just fantastic. Then we tried the pizzas and the experience was just getting better. The food was surprisingly fast and the portions were very favourable. We ended up by getting the tasty e addictive home made tiramisu complemented with two wonderful scropinos and to close out our night a pair of authentic italian capuccinos. Top top of an extremely enjoyable evening we were approached by the host and owner with 2 on-the-house home made lemoncellos. 5 star experience, will definitely come back in the near future.

We had made a reservation, but upon arrival we had to wait at least 20 minutes before we got a table. There were people ahead of us who had (presumably) also made reservations, so they had been waiting longer. Ultimately we left as it is unacceptable that we have to wait so long when making a reservation before we are even seated at a table.

Il Lago always good but....don't sit on the outside edge when it's cold outside because it's chilly there. Food is fine, but we had to wait more than 45 minutes between starter and main course and therefore unfortunately no time for dessert (we went to the movie afterwards). I'll come again, but watch where I sit
