Had dinner with a group. The food was fresh but nothing special. Personally, the price-quality ratio wasn't great. It was also rather rude to sell sparkling water (still) from their own tap system for a rather hefty price. Finally, the staff was quite smart/uppity that evening. Fine, no reason not to return, but no reason to do so either.

What a fantastic experience at Il Lago in Groningen! We were there with a large group from work and opted for the group package, which we highly recommend. The food was fantastic, perfectly prepared from start to finish, and the atmosphere was perfect for a cozy evening together. What made it truly special was the incredibly friendly and attentive staff. They were thoughtful, nothing was too much trouble, and everything went smoothly. You can just tell they enjoy what they do, which makes the whole experience even better. In short: a top-notch location for groups, with delicious, authentic Italian food and a hospitality rarely found these days. We will definitely be back!

I tried Il Lago restaurant with a group of friends, and I have to say it was outstanding. The location is beautiful and very bright, as it overlooks the lake in Groningen. Dani and Karlijn, the owners, were incredibly kind and made us feel at home, just like the rest of the team. The dishes were authentically Italian, we started with the Sharing Italian appetizer, which included a variety of Italian specialties such as cured meats, bruschetta, and cheeses. Then we moved on to their fresh pasta and pizzas, which were just as delicious. We shared a tiramisù that was amazing, just like in Italy. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Decent pizzeria. Beautiful view of the lake. The pizzas were a bit bland, the toppings were okay. Large place, quite crowded. Some of the staff don't speak Dutch.

Made a last-minute reservation, and there was a spot. We received a warm and friendly welcome. The staff is fantastic! Friendly and respectful. They serve well. The glass labels were neatly displayed, and the food was excellent! Definitely recommended.

The fresh pasta was perfectly al dente, and the sauces were rich and well-balanced. The wood-fired pizza had a thin, slightly crispy crust with beautiful, high-quality ingredients. The service was knowledgeable and could recommend both matching wines and non-alcoholic alternatives. The interior is warm and stylish, ideal for a night out or a special occasion dinner. The price is higher than average, but commensurate with the quality.

Ordered 5 different pasta dishes and 2 appetizers to take away. Paid over €100.00. Never in 40 years had such bad pasta from an Italian restaurant. All the pastas were tasteless and very salty. The portions were extremely small, and the prices were extremely high. A waste of money; we should have picked up an Italian microwave meal. Perhaps we were unlucky and had a "chef" in the kitchen on this Saturday who didn't have the desire or passion to cook? Who knows, but in any case, we'll never be back!

An Italian restaurant on the lakefront. It has two very pretty terraces and the same interior decor. The food is excellent, both pasta and pizza, and the waiters are very friendly and speak several languages.

Came spontaneously in the evening with two for dinner and were very hospitably received and served, despite the fact that almost everything was full. Delicious food and relaxed cozy atmosphere! The limoncello is also definitely recommended.

We are always very warmly welcomed here, the food is delicious, enough choice and real quality products. The service is always neat and you are helped quickly. Beautiful space and a nice terrace to enjoy the sun. We also regularly pick up and that is always perfectly arranged.

Food is always good, you pay top price for it. But being put away in a corner with the garbage and plates... what a pathetic display that was. Slowly getting a bit of a feeding shack idea where it used to be cozy. Never going back there!

Deze week weer eens bij Il Lago gegeten. We waren met z’n vieren en hadden een plaats in de serre. Binnen is zoveel gezelliger qua sfeer en verlichting maar blijkbaar was daar geen plaats meer voor ons terwijl er ook tafels zonder stoelen stonden. Stond er wat apart bij. Voorgerecht was lekker, wel veel. De porties zijn sowieso erg groot. Qua kwaliteit is het een zeven min, ook qua personeel. Niet erg attent, wel vriendelijk maar niet altijd even oplettend. Kortom prima avond maar ik zou dit niet direct aanraden. De pasta met ossenhaas was heerlijk trouwens, de desserts weer wat minder.

Beautiful experience on the lake! A great evening from start to finish! We were warmly welcomed by the host and given a beautiful table on the attractive, covered and heated terrace with a view over the lake. The food was fantastic: the carpaccio with truffle cream as a starter, followed by the tagliatelle alla burrata and the pizza di manzo. To finish we enjoyed a delicious affogato al caffè. The matching wines were perfectly chosen, and the wine of the month is a nice addition!

Super friendly staff, delicious pizza. It was missing some peppers, so if you like it spicy, I think you should ask for extra. Surprisingly large place, too. You can't tell from the outside. The doppio was a bit lukewarm. I recommend it!

What a fantastic authentic Italian that you rarely see. We are not from the area and were surprised! So busy on a Sunday evening, so many staff and above all, such a beautiful menu with delicious dishes! They brought it to my grandma's table which is not so cool so that's why 1 star and it took 1 year before I got my food in front of me I paid 50 euros for 1 hour but didn't get anything.

Nice restaurant with friendly service. The food on the other hand was mediocre. Tough pizza base and bland taste. Too many vegetables and very little meat. Salami was bland and gorgonzola was missing and that was on the menu. We will not come back.

With an order for 9 people you have to take your time. At one point (after 1 hour) we asked how long it would take.

We've been returning to Il Lago for years, and it consistently delivers a high-quality Italian dining experience in Groningen. On our most recent visit, the Spaghetti alla Carbonara was as perfect as ever, the pizza was excellent, and the tiramisu lived up to its reputation as one of our favorites. The atmosphere remains warm and inviting, perfect for celebrating special occasions. Booking in advance is recommended.

But once you get there, you immediately understand why they are here. It feels like a little escape to Italy, with warm Italian staff, dishes full of flavor and love, and a beautiful location where you can enjoy a relaxing meal. Everything is freshly prepared, and you can taste it – every dish is a treat. The updated menu is full of wonderful surprises. Oh, and parking? No hassle, there is plenty of room. We have been coming here for years and will certainly continue to do so. If you like real Italian, you simply have to try this!

Very nice and atmospheric Italian restaurant on the Hoornsemeer in Groningen. I received a very friendly and hospitable welcome. Both the ambiance and the menu are of a high standard. You can choose from various Italian dishes. I went for an excellent carpaccio di manzo with truffle cream as a starter. And as a main course a pistacchio e mortadella pizza. Definitely recommended to visit!

Very large store, so as a customer you can quickly feel a bit lost in the crowd, especially when it is very busy, as in our case yesterday. The menu is fairly extensive, but not really special. The small number of fish and shellfish dishes is striking. A little Italian makes do with more, I think. The pizzas we ordered were of good quality. Beautiful base and enough ingredients to fill the stomach! The desserts are also very tasty and prepared and served with care. Compliments to the staff who, despite the crowds, did not let themselves be discouraged and remained wonderfully themselves, you sometimes see that differently!

We had dinner here with a group of 15 people at the end of September. (adults and number of children). It was a spontaneous action but Il Lago still had room for us. We were received very hospitably and we all had a delicious meal. Highly recommended!!

The food and ambiance is great! In my opinion this is one of the best restaurants in the Netherlands for pasta. We ordered the ravioli tartufo & the ravioli lobster, both were very tasty! The freshness was also very clearly noticeable in the pasta. I would recommend also having a starter because the portion of pasta is not huge. Finally, the service was also excellent. Every waitress was super friendly and they didn't make us feel like we had to leave quickly, which is something you often see in a busy restaurant these days. All in all, this is highly recommended!!!

More than an hour and a half after the starter, the main courses arrived. With an apology from the waitress, but the owner was hiding in the kitchen. The tortalini with arugula had exactly two wilted leaves. Prices of dishes reasonable, drinks expensive.

We have been coming to Il Lago for years and this time we sat on the roof terrace to the right upon entering. If the wind is favorable you can sit here. Otherwise it's quite chilly. We ordered a herb butter sandwich, Caprese pizza, a pizza with salmon, onion and peppers and a cheesecake for dessert. Everything was tasty. We will definitely come back here again. Pick up is also always good.

Niet zo best, biertje €5,95! Dat is wel erg duur. Service goed, wijn lekker. Steak medium rare besteld, werd doorgebakken geserveerd, steak van ander familielid medium besteld en was ook te ver. Jammer. bloemkool die er bij geserveerd werd was bruin en zwart en gewoon niet vers, wat te zien en te proeven was.

Spaghetti Bolognaise... A very meager plate...filled to just over half. Whether my girlfriend wants a glass of water with her wine... That's thoughtful, go ahead. A bottle of (tap) water is placed which, on closer inspection, costs €6.50 🤔 No more Il Lago for us...
