Daen's Café in Wijk 06 Binnenstad

Had lunch here yesterday. I asked for the buratta toast, but I was initially given avocado. It looked delicious, but not what I was looking for. Fortunately, the flexible service quickly arranged the right toast! We played some games and had a pastry afterward. The cheesecake and chocolate "cake" (more sticky toffee than cake) were delicious. It's a novelty to have lunch next to a shop, and the restrooms were red with doors that were very difficult to close (or open), but otherwise, the atmosphere is great.

Great breakfast, delicious coffee and friendly service.

The hot chocolate with whipped cream is highly recommended, even if it's 50 cents more expensive than the surrounding cafés. The ambiance is also appealing, thanks to the central location right on the square.

We sat down for a bit, but the staff didn't really give the impression they were happy to welcome new guests. The sandwich was good, but quite expensive. The restrooms were clean.

Great cafe if you just want a quick bite to eat, though not super cheap. You can sit here with your laptop until noon, but even afterward if it's quiet.

Plus point: various newspapers to read with your cup of coffee.

Das Frühstück war mit knapp 40 € für 2 das teuerste auf unserer Reise und dafür haben wir 1 Croissant und 1 Scheibe Brot bekommen. Der Käse hat sich schon etwas gewellt am Rand, Der Jougurt und die gekochten Eier waren gut, aber bei einem Frühstück für 2 zu dem Preis erwarte ich schon 2 Croissants und auch 2 Scheiben Brot. Der Service war nett, aber die Sauberkeit war nicht optimal.

Very strange and unfriendly young man in the service. Aggressively yelling at people not to sit in the aisle. These types of people should not work in the catering industry, you do not get a hospitable feeling. For the other 10 of us, the attitude here is clear. You come here because there is the sun, but absolutely not for the service.

Review: Dean's Café Yesterday I had a glass of wine at Dean's Café and ordered some nuts. With the sun shining it was a nice place to sit. The drinks tasted great, but were on the pricey side. However, there was a big setback when paying: you had to go inside to pay, where there was a long line due to problems with debit card payments. Paying in cash was not an option, which caused a lot of irritation among the waiting guests. This could really be arranged better. Overall a nice place to sit, but the payment issues made the experience less pleasant. Hopefully they improve this soon!

Attractive location that was one of the better lunch spots in the center of Utrecht a few years ago. Unfortunately, the price-quality ratio has now become skewed. For a considerable amount we received two dry, toasted sandwiches with a little hummus, sparsely filled and mediocrely presented. The waiting time was over an hour, without any excuse from the staff. Meanwhile, the bar was full of uncleaned glasses from the terrace, and the team seemed inexperienced, without clear direction. A shame, because the place has all the potential to become a top address in Utrecht again!

Always wonderful to have lunch here. When the sun shines on the terrace, it is a real pleasure! Service comes by regularly to check whether everything is still as desired, whether they can pour anything, etc. Very nice!

The service was fast and friendly. The six of us arrived and it was no problem to push some tables together on the terrace. Had a delicious lunch. The only downside I think is that they had already punctured the burrata that I had ordered themselves. Furthermore, the food was delicious, the olives were a good addition to the dish, so 5 stars.

Expensive, long wait and the chardonnay not tasty for €7

Came here for lunch. For 14.50 I got a toasted slice of bread with a tiny bit of burrata. Left as hungry as I came.

My favourite place in the city! Amazing foods and cocktails! The environment is out of this world.

Will not return, was very disappointed. We had mediocre food: the avocado on toast (bland), the club sandwich (way too much cheese) and the burrata sandwich (basically just bread with tomato and burrata). The actual food menus were scarce, so we had to share 1 tiny (and dirty) menu. Not too many veg/vegan options to choose from. The place was understaffed when we were there, so we had to wait a long time and actually just got up to order ourselves (which was first met with resistance, but luckily the bartender realised we would have left otherwise). Staff was friendly but just not enough of them around. Lastly, I would advise not to go to the restroom - they are disgusting!

Zeer matige ervaring hier. Het verkrijgen van de aandacht van de bediening was een uitdaging, we werden bijna 30 min genegeerd voordat we een bestelling konden plaatsen (ik stond op het punt weg te lopen). De toch redelijke eenvoudige lunch liet vervolgens nog 55 min op zich wachten. De keuken kon de drukte op het terras duidelijk niet aan wat resulteerde in chaos in de bediening. De stress was voelbaar, veel (terecht) zeurende klanten, kortom niet de rustige ontspannen lunch waar we gehoopt hadden. Jammer, want het eten was best aardig.

Caesar salad: sheet of lettuce, little chicken, missing egg. Mackerel: only 1 piece of bread, little mackerel, prepared with little imagination. Waiting time: extremely long, waiting more than 20 minutes even for the tea.

We had a bad time here - whilst waiting to check into the hotel (having come from London overnight, tired, and on a work trip) we were told to leave and not use our lap tops. This led to a 2 hr wait to check in, and being told to go to another cafe. Pretty rude all rounds and not fun to walk around in the rain with bags. The staff were also pretty loud and not discrete that no lap tops.

We tried to have a coffee, but it took 45 minutes before we were noticed to order something. Probably because of the used crockery from the previous guests still on the table. We were busy chatting so it wasn't a problem but we were happy when we could speak to someone. 2 cappuccinos, 2 water and 2 carrot cakes. Not a very difficult order in itself, but the water did not seem to have come through properly. Ultimately, unfortunately, mega overpriced and poor service.

Delicious coffee and super friendly staff

A cute little café with very good coffee and nice and helpful service (good information). The range of food on offer is manageable and good. The atmosphere is very relaxed and cozy.

The smell of coffee, the buzz of guests, the sound of the milk frother. It immediately feels good and it is! The place is well stocked, but we still have one available. We order a hot chocolate and a flat white. The "Soup of the day" and a "Mackerel sandwich" complete our early lunch. The soup of the day is the pump soup with coconut and coarse bread. Too bad the bread is cold from the refrigerator. The Mackerel sandwich is generously filled and prepared with care. The staff is super friendly. We order another beautiful Flatwhite. Served a little too hot, but otherwise perfect. Great place to relax for a while. We would love to come back again.

Nice, cozy restaurant with excellent gluten-free sandwich options. Good service, only drawback is that it’s a bit small and noisy inside - but that’s also personal preference.

Cozy cafe with nice decor. Varied menu, with something for everyone. The staff was friendly, but I didn't always find them attentive and quick. The food was tasty and beautifully prepared, although unfortunately a bit on the pricey side.

For a place that didn’t show up in google maps, this place was worth the stop. Fresh croissant, loosely scrambled eggs, amazing cheese. Great Cafe Late, but why do hot drinks come in glasses in this country.

After ordering, I was told that I can’t use my laptop after 12, so I had to go find another place.

Dean's zit op een hele leuke plek in Utrecht, maar de warme chocolademelk was simpelweg niet het geld waard. Mijn zogenaamd warme chocolademelk was namelijk lauw en verder was de smaak ook niet bijzonder (volgens mij normale chocomel opgewarmd). Verder heb ik hier niks gegeten of gedronken dus hierbij houd mijn review op.

Prima voor een drankje. Gezellig terras en de bediening is vriendelijk. Hier niet gegeten, dus weet niet wat de ervaringen met eten hier zijn.

We kwamen hier voor een lunch op het terras in de zon. Ons eten was zeker in orde. De bediening was ook beleefd, maar we moesten er wel behoorlijk lang op wachten (ondanks dar we met een klein gezelschap waren). Meerdere tafels die later besteld hadden, kregen hun eten eerder dan ons. Los van de tragere bediening, is deze plek wel in orde en ideaal voor een lunch of borrel!

Loved the scone. Service was slightly slow but very friendly. The coffee is super strong (had espresso and macchiato).

Lekker en gezellig geluncht. Soms duurt het even voordat je weer aandacht krijgt van het personeel, maar verder was alles dik in orde.

Mooie locatie en lekker zonnig terras. Voor de rest ben ik minder enthousiast. De prijs en kwaliteit van het eten en drinken staat niet in verhouding. Helaas is het merkbaar dat het personeel niet voldoende ervaring en capaciteit heeft. Dat ze hun best doen is wel duidelijk, maar het mag niet baten. Service was vrij langzaam en er werden veel fouten gemaakt. Nu kan dat gebeuren, zeker bij een overvol terras, maar bij het aangeven van fouten of ontevredenheid werd er niet erg sympathiek op gereageerd. Door deze omstandigheden ben ik in de afgelopen weken helaas 2 keer teleurgesteld vertrokken en zal ik hier niet snel weer hier gaan zitten.

Daens heeft een prachtige locatie, waar je de hele middag kunt genieten van de zon. Het personeel werkt hard en doet haar best, maar oogt onervaren en gestresst. Afgelopen weken drie keer een teleurstellende ervaring gehad. Het eten laat lang op zich wachten, is wat prijs/kwaliteit verhouding ondermaats. Op de gegrilde sandwich ontbrak de feta, waarbij bij aangeven de serveerster niet meer is teruggekomen. De wijn was warm en zuinig geschonken. Bij aangeven kregen wij gelukkig gekoelde en volle glazen. Meerdere tafels op het terras moesten erg lang wachten op hun bestelling en er werden meerdere vergissingen gemaakt mbt het eten. Vergissingen kunnen gemaakt worden, maar het personeel reageert hier niet afgestemd en vriendelijk op. Daens heeft alle ingrediënten om een kwalitatieve, sfeervolle en gastvrije plek te zijn, maar heeft nog flink wat te groeien.

O espaço é pequeno e bastante movimentado. Atendentes simpáticas e comida/lanche bom.

Heerlijke lunch op het terras. Tosti was redelijk aan de prijs, maar wel lekker. Ook meerdere koffie’s op. Bij t af rekenen waren we verbaast. We betaalden meer voor de 4 koffie die we genoten hadden dan op de menukaart omschreven. Bij navraag aan de bar gaf men aan dat het klopte. De prijzen waren verhoogd! Alles is immers verhoogd. Oooh dus we zien een prijs bij bestellen en betalen achteraf meer ??? Duhhh? Reactie vanuit de keuken: dat is dan hammer voor he!? What the F…….! Dat is dan jammer voor je. Nou voor jullie. Zo’n reactie tegenover gasten ? Laatste keer bij Dean ! Nooit meer !

Lekker geluncht in het zonnetje. BLT Sandwiches gegeten, waren prima. Beetje trage bediening, dus haast is niet handig!

Had a oat milk latte and mint tea. Tea was nice but the oat milk latte was not too good compared to how it is at other places.

Service was very slow , food options weren't great. Truly too bad !

Heerlijk terras in de zon en ook goede vega broodjes

Fijne zaak om te zien. Lunch was erg lekker. Het was alleen een rommeltje bij de bediening. Onze drankjes kwamen nadat we onze lunch bijna op hadden. De cappuccino was erg Lekker en de club sandwich ook.

A great sunny terrace, cozy inside lunch room, combined with friendly personnel, tasty food and their clothing store right next to it. The ambiance is clean and well kept. If you’re looking for a place to have lunch or coffee, this is definitely a good choice.

Lekker in het zonnetje geluncht, weinig plek maar dat is altijd als je op een zonnige dag in Utrecht bent, bediening was er snel, niet echt persoonlijk maar prima, broodjes waren erg duur, niet bijzonder, wel lekker. Goede fles prosecco gedronken met gratis water welke ook snel kwam. Prima om lekker te zitten om een vrijdag middag.

Aardig personeel, maar het was veel te duur. Bakje warme chips met twee korrels kaas en wat guacamole voor €9,00!!!!! Belachelijk…. Weinig keuze voor zowel drinken als eten. Kom hier niet meer terug.

Heerlijke plek voor ontbijt, koffie, lunch. Ook als je in je eentje bent. En zowel binnen als buiten zitten is fijn.

Heerlijke lunch gezellig leuk terras goede bediening. Leuk dat je binnendoor naar de kledingwinkel Daens kan. Gerechtjes zijn origineel en lekker. Toilet was een beetje groezelig. Dat kan veel beter. En dan is het zeker ook 5 sterren waard.

Prima kop koffie en een kaneel broodje op

Leuk terras om wat te drinken. Eten (borrelhapjes, en eerder lunch) viel ons tegen.
