Genuinely, 2 out of 3 times that I went there, the staff are really not welcoming and think the restaurant is about them. If you want to sit in a tensed room with people who think everything revolves around them, definitely go here. Smart questions like “you don’t say hello?” (No i dont say hello if I dont want to, who even are you??) and not being willing to help in any way.

4.5/5 The most surprising thing about the restaurant was that the decoration inside was very special. You must sit on the second floor . Salmon cream pasta with strong salmon flavor was delicious. The pasta’s texture was not surprised but passed. Potatoes are half-fried and delicious.

Worst pasta I've ever had 🤢 Ik weet niet hoe het zo'n hoge waardering heeft gekregen. The bacon sprinkled on top only has a burnt salty taste, and the pistachio cream sauce was so greasy that it made me sick. The taste is very monotonous but the price is very high, probably because it is in a tourist area, but I won't eat it even if it's free.

Entering this restaurant is really pleasant. Young staff super kind and attentive. Definitely the best Italian restaurant in Amsterdam. Well-prepared and good dishes both first and second courses. Small but very relaxing environment and furnished with attention to detail. Highly recommended!!!

We were treated unprofessionally for not having a reservation and asked to leave for 30 to 60 minutes. We were expelled.

An excellent trattoria run by real Italians, whether in service or in the kitchen, which is also open to the dining room and is very original. The two pasta dishes we ate were exquisite. A treat!

We discovered this Italian restaurant 6 months ago and have been coming here once or twice a month ever since. We often bring friends and family and they all agree: this is the best Italian restaurant we've ever been to. Home-cooked dishes are always exceptional. The staff are very friendly. I recommend the gnocchi with pistachio pesto!

Food is very , very, tasty and the service is pretty neat! We had some issue with the main dishes, that we had to wait quite a bit and one of them came wrong, but, as a compensation they haven’t charged the wine and the coffee. Very well managed by the waitress. The ambience is very, very nice! Definitely recommend the Tiramisu.

LOVE this place for Italian In Amsterdam, stumbled upon it my last time visiting and made sure to reserve again when returning to this city. The food is INCREDIBLE and authentic italian. Every dish just blew us away!

30 minute wait for not eating thank you

The food was good, but not outstanding and a bit pricey. Tomatoes in caprese tasted like cardboard (usual in the Netherlands but not expected at a restaurant). Gnocchi with pistachio and ravioli were good. The wine tasted like a cheap one you can get at ah (because it was one) which I wouldn’t expect for 9 euro per glass. When we came exactly at our reserved time (you also have to pay a deposit for a reservation) we were asked to wait outside. The interior was nice though.

I had already made a reservation more than a month before because it was my husband's birthday. I even had to pay €40 deposit to secure the reservation. We make a day of it in Amsterdam and wait until it is time (5:30 PM). I receive an email at 4:40 PM that my reservation has been changed from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM!!!! We walk in at 5:30 PM and I say that I have made a reservation for that time. We were able to join without any problems, but unfortunately my party feeling has disappeared. Not okay!

Simple: the best Italian food in Holland. It's great Mediterranean friendliness. PS: Amsterdam is fantastic!

We got a lasagne, a gnocchi and a tagliatelle. They all tasted terrible. Too salty. Too pricey for the portions you got. I even had a terrible diarrhea from the food there.

I was in this beautiful place in March during a visit to Amsterdam. The place is really very very beautiful. Tastefully furnished. Not the usual Italian place abroad. We had dinner on the mezzanine. The food is very good, we had a small appetizer followed by a second course of meat with potatoes and tiramisu for dessert (amazing). All the staff are very kind and professional. Absolutely recommended place.

Left very disappointed. Bruschetta was served with less than fresh salad. My fiancés meal was incorrect at the first attempt, and both pasta dishes we felt were very under al dente. Never worth the price we paid.

Fantastic ! A true Italian trattoria hidden like a little treasure in the historic center of Amsterdam. We loved this very qualitative gourmet break. Everything is homemade and cooked in front of us. I found this restaurant online and was really looking forward to visiting because of the good reviews. The waiter at the entrance wasn't particularly friendly. The ambience and furnishings were really nice. Surprisingly, despite some pictures online, there is no pizza here. Well, about the dishes. First of all, both were simply not tasty. The lasagne was oversalted and almost edible due to too much parmesan. In addition, this very small portion costs €18. The orecchiette had zero taste. The tomato sauce was strange. No recommendation. Too bad.

Felt ripped off after dining here! What a tourist trap!! I ordered a bottle of Reserve wine but got a no name wine with zero explanation! Food was very mediocre at best…I can’t comprehend how this place is rated so high! I paid extra for a shaving of truffles which did not smell or taste anything like truffles but more like thinly sliced dried wood!

Went 3 nights ago, was lovely. This evening, we were left outside as though it was exclusive booking, mo eye contact, offered a table with no service, so left. Jog on.. Be customer friendly or not, shouldn't matter how busy you are

Amazing food, the carbonara was so tasty and well presented. Went with the family and it was a perfect evening. Great atmosphere, and a charming host. Felt like a little bit of Italy in Amsterdam.

Now this place is a great find. An authentic Italian right in the centre of Amsterdam. The place is tiny but absolutely charming with super friendly staff that really want to please. We were seated upstairs which was just as nice. Watch out, the stairs are super steep and you’re better coming down backwards! So the food was gorgeous, between us we had focaccia, caprese salad, bruschetta and burrata. Delicious, just be careful not to fill up. Both my family members followed with the spaghetti carbonara which was top notch authentic. I had the steak with green pepper sauce, the dish came with broccoli and roast potato wedges. The steak was fillet or tenderloin and it was tender and perfectly cooked medium rare. The taste of the meat was a a little bit lacking in flavour that somehow the sauce (which was lovely) couldn’t quite make up for. All in all a lovely meal. We were offered some limoncello on the house as a finisher too. Make sure you book.

Average food. Smiling service. The noise from the cafe next door was unbearable. We also asked for some bread, but there wasn't any, so we ordered focaccia, which never arrived. However, it was on the bill. Luckily we saw it; it was 7 euros...

We had a spontaneous dinner here, and the food was really good. The dishes arrived in a reasonable time, and the flavors were excellent.

The food was the star of the show. We had a wonderful dinner at Dal Pagliaccio. It is a very small restaurant and intimate so the wait may vary if you do not have a reservation. The main entrees were so good, and the wine paired well. Their tiramisu was excellent! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a nice, cozy dinner, but make a reservation to avoid a wait!

We had a very pleasant time. The welcome is very warm and the quality cuisine you will not be disappointed. I recommend that you book in advance to avoid waiting. Small downside just on the entrance door which does not close on its own and often remains open for less attentive customers after their departure. We loved the welcome, the warm service and the atmosphere of this restaurant.

Rude waiter, when I entered the restaurant he just gave me a rude look and said they were full. No manners at all.

Delicious food and good service

I absolutely adore this place!!! such a hidden gem in the middle of an overwhelmingly tourist-trap area. My friends and I visited just after valentines day and managed to get a reservation the night before. the food was incredible -- It genuinely took me days to stop thinking about it. the service, too, was super friendly and personal! very fun environment and a memorable evening. I plan to return as many times as my wallet will allow :)

Been to this restaurant for the second time and loved it again. We really enjoyed the tagliatelle al ragu and gnocchi with pistachio pesto. Since the restaurant is very small, it is worth making a reservation in advance.

Authentic Italian experience: I paid like I was dining in Rome, but ate like I was on a diet. The food was decent, but for these prices, I expected at least a side of gold sprinkle cheese. By the way! There is no pizza. Just don’t bother coming.

To me, a tad overrated and definitely overpriced. The cocktails are for sure nice and the setting as well. However, the simple mozzarella gnocchi with tomato sauce and 1 leaf of basil is too expensive and not worth the money. The carbonara is too salty and the meat extremely dry so I could not finish, disappointing for what I paid. The service was nice and the waiter very attentive to our needs. Waiting was also a bit long.

The ambience of the restaurant is really cozy and romantic. The Service is friendly. The food is outstanding. Would really look forward to going back.

The lasagna was burnt, the pasta was undercooked (not al dente), and the portion was disappointing. My reservation was canceled without notice (saying after 15 mins it is cancelled via the “system”, and I was initially denied a refund. After some discussion, it suddenly reappeared in the system. We weren’t allowed to move chairs but had to squeeze past others blocking the exit when leaving. Overall, a frustrating and disappointing experience.

I do not recommend!!! Unpleasant welcome because we made a mistake on the reservation, mockery and derogatory remarks. Both by the waiter with his black shirt and even worse the one with the white shirt and glasses who continues his unpleasant remarks until the bill is paid. Blatant difference in treatment between customers, it’s shocking! TO FLEE

Had my birthday celebration here. The food and the service from both the waiters (Manuel) was immaculate. The food has raw flavours and I could taste each flavour individually. We definitely go back there.

Nice and well-kept place.. Italians present in the restaurant staff.. the boy at the entrance found us a table even though we hadn't booked.. we wanted to take a mixed platter but too bad they had run out of cured meats.. we went with a first course.. I recommend the truly excellent salmon tagliatelle!!

Excellent Italian place, delicious food and courteous and professional staff. Compared to the classic "Italian" places found in Amsterdam, this is one of the few that can be labeled as such. The only shame is the price of the dishes, in my opinion a little high, a few euros less per dish would be more than correct, as for water, a one liter bottle is €6...

Everything was perfect! The cuisine is tasty with quality products and the service is very warm! The very cozy atmosphere I recommend.

The room was cold and very small. The food was ok, but not more, also the size is very small. For this high prize is it not acceptable. Also you must do a deposit for the reservation, 10€ each. At the bill, they "forget" it, so check your bill!

A great restaurant, with beautiful decoration and furnishings, humorous staff, and delicious food. I originally wanted to visit again, but unfortunately my schedule didn't go as planned. The only drawback is that the seats are crowded.

Was looking forward to going here but we were very disappointed. Had to wait ten minutes for our table even though we had booked and no one was sitting on it, the service was really slow. Both ordered steaks, one with red wine which was a purple colour and cold, really didn’t taste nice more like a yoghurt. Other steak had the complete wrong sauce on it. Said they’d do another one and after ten mins waiting got told we had to wait 25mins, we had already been there an hour and didn’t have starters. We ended up leaving and not having dinner there. Safe to say have the pasta not steaks!

Great experience, the host was a funny guy, gave us free shots, and the dessert was delicious!

I really enjoyed my last night in Amsterdam in this cosy restaurant.

We loved our dinner and time at Dal Pagliaccio! Great food, great service, great atmosphere - what more do you want? The starters and pastas we had were wonderful and the home-made tiramisu is a delicious treat to end your meal. Wines are good as well. Hope to come back one day!

Very cute little place. Nice atmosphere and really friendly staff. The only let down was I personally found the pasta in my carbonara a bit hard and the bacon/pancetta/pork was too hard to eat, maybe a little overcooked. It was different to what I am used to, I am used to pancetta or bacon in the carbonara and being nice and soft to eat as a part of the dish. But unfortunately this pork at this time was too hard for me too eat, I left half my meal. I am a bit of an awkward person and I didn't mention this to the staff, so I can't comment on how they would handle a complaint.

Went here on a Friday night with my family and loved it! Make sure to make a reservation in advance. The food is amazing (they’re not joking around with their tiramisu!!), the waiters feel like family and the decoration is very lovely. It’s a bit tight but it makes it more charming. Will definitely be back!

0/5 :( I wanted to love this place so bad! But when we got sat upstairs in a room without windows nor anyone within eyesight, the vibes went down. We started with the focaccia which was fully undercooked and doughy on the inside. It was hard to eat. By the time we received our main course, we were over it. Bad vibes, bad food, bad service.

We went without a reservation and waited in line. Even though there were empty tables, they did not let us in. They let the other couple who came after us in about 15 minutes later. We mentioned this to the waiter and then he said you can sit down. It's like something happened, right? But never, we asked in a very humane way and waited for our turn. I couldn't find out his name, but a waiter was extremely rude to us, he didn't even light the candle on our table, we left as soon as we ate our meal. The food is not bad. He failed in service. Very nice place, authentic and well decorated. We were 5 people and got treated great. Although, the focaccia was delicious, our main dishes were not the italian quality we used to, carbonara' meat was burned, gnocchi was not tasty, fileto di manzo no salt, and all dishes were not warm. Additionally, the glasses were still dirty. All in all, good place with room for improvement on the dishes.

Inside the touristic area of Amsterdam but not as the tourist traps that are around...Service was excellent, food was great (portions are a little bit small for what you pay) and generally it was a very good experience...For sure I will go again if i visit the town for second time ...

Finally found another super tasty Italian restaurant that we will definitely visit again when we are in Amsterdam. Freshly baked focaccia, meatballs in delicious tomato sauce, super tasty pasta dishes and finally a fantastic tiramisu. And all of this in a great atmosphere and super friendly service. What more could you want? Thank you also for the delicious limoncello.

Two guys who meet us were very friendly. Unfortunately we were seated upstairs out of the way. A new waiter looked after us, broadly. The food was very disappointing to say the least. I can cook better myself at home. Should have known it wasn’t going to any good due to its tourist location. The reviews looked so good so went against my better judgement! Not sure who’s been eating here! given all these amazing reviews. Suggest you spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

Absolutely amazing food! Delicious and rich in flavour, very kind and attentive waiters and cute location:)) The store is small and cozy and lovingly decorated. The food is worth every cent it costs and comes quick and all courses are well paced after each other. Our waiter was sweet and made friendly conversation while giving excellent advice on the dishes. Please make sure to book a table in advance of you want to avoid having to wait as they are deservingly quite popular! I will definitely be back as my family and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience of dining here:)

Nice place, nice decoration Very small portions, very long waiting time we had to prepay 40 euros just for the reservation, the food took too long and we left without being full. The salad was really 2 bites plain with a bit of balsamic. Unfortunately, our table was in front of the entrance and we froze.

.... and then, tired of Dutch food (the cheese is excellent, of course, the herring is delicious but we are still Italian and after three days the nostalgia for pasta overcomes you), you find yourself, almost by chance, in the right place at the moment Right. The positive reviews had directed us, but I never thought I would eat one of the best carbonaras I have ever tasted (and my sister-in-law lives in Rome!). Even my son, with a refined palate, appreciated the tagliatella alla Bolognese. Super focaccia. What you don't expect in the center of Amsterdam: TOP Italian food served by nice, hospitable and friendly young DOC Italians. Prices absolutely reasonable for the service and quality (around twenty euros per person). Highly recommended
