Although the service is good and the beers are nice. The food quality has gone down for a while, have our another chance, but still disappointed when compared to how it was 3-5 years ago. Both the buffalo wings as well as the burger were mediocre.

Tasty but very salty and with a lot of sauce. Fries didn't arrive until after we'd already finished our burgers. Pleasant but noisy. Not cheap (almost 40 euros for one burger and two drinks).

I had to laugh when I saw reviews from people complaining about the food. This is a place for beer first, food second. Very wide selection of beers, many unusual, making it fun to try. As for food, keep it simple to the juicy burgers and crisp fries. We were very happy with our meal. The booths are cozy; you need to reserve. The staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

The food is delicious! The menu is small, but the meat is excellent! Plenty of beers, of course. It's a bit small inside and cramped for a larger group, but otherwise, it's a great spot!

What a top service! My chicken turned out not to be fully cooked, which had nothing to do with careless cooking or anything. I immediately got something else and something was added to the bill. Where do you find that anymore? No complaining or whining needed: just service as it should be! Toppers! And just cozy with good burgers etc.

We had a very pleasant experience. Since it was summer, we were able to sit on the terrace, which was really nice. The atmosphere was friendly, the service was quick, and the food was tasty (fried halloumi & parmesan fries). Nothing to complain about.

Nice for a beer and something to eat

I ordered delivery, burgers and fries with cheese and bacon, the photo shows stinky bacon that stinks of old oil, the potatoes are very greasy and dry. I do not recommend this establishment!!!!

Nice pub with lots of different beers. Nice bartender with lots of knowledge, I wanted Guinness but it wasn't on the menu, I was immediately offered an alternative called Charbon from Dochter van de Korenaar. Delicious stout, glad to get to know this one. Nice (heated) terrace so great evening.

They have plenty of beers to choose from. I recommend the Texel. The bitterballen are delicious!

2 stars for the nice beer selection and very nice servers. Do not eat here, I repeat: do not eat here. I felt robbed by both the quality and the portion sizes. If you go here, go for the beer and go on with your day.

Het eten is oke maar je betaalt voor alles de hoofdprijs. Als je een kleine maag hebt is een burger misschien voldoende. De brisket was de grootste aanfluiting, 5 dunne plakjes matig vlees met een beetje coleslaw voor 23,50.

Mercatorplein beer garden in Amsterdam certainly has potential, but unfortunately my experiences are not entirely positive. The biggest negative was . This didn't really make the experience worth it, especially when you look at the nearby competition that offers much more for similar prices. In addition, the staff was clearly inexperienced. The servers were friendly, but did not seem well organized or trained, What was also disappointing was the long wait time. It took much longer than expected before we received our drinks and dishes, which did not improve the overall picture. You would expect the service to be faster when it's not super busy, but unfortunately this didn't seem to be the case. All in all, Biertuin Mercatorplein has a... cozy atmosphere, but the high prices, small portions, inexperienced staff and long waiting times make it difficult to have a positive experience. Definitely room for improvement.

I had dinner here with two friends, but our evening was ruined by the poor service and quality of the food. We had reserved well in advance, but upon arrival the chicken was already gone at 7:00 PM. We therefore opted for the spare ribs, which were then served cold and had to be sent back. It was 6 ribs, which is very poor for €34. What made it worse was the service. It was not communicated that it would take longer, and we waited no less than 1.5 hours for our food. Ordering new drinks was also almost impossible, because we were barely helped. This restaurant is absolutely not recommended, 1 star is still too many!

Extremely unsanitary kitchen, drunk cook and stench of burnt food.

We were a number of people and had reserved in advance. Our order was taken very late and the food was mediocre. I had the chicken burger with bacon. Since when is this put on the bun without baking? The chicken for me and my table companion was also very small. The schnitzel was also mediocre.. Too bad!

I think this is the best burger ive had in Amsterdam. And ive tried a lot! Great parmesan fries too. The rest of the menu sounds great too.

The food was good and the location was decent. The downside to it were its situation next to a busy road and the limited amount of indoor seats. However, the service was lacking as the food did come with a big time difference so that some persons already finished their main course before others even got it.

The terrace is very nice especially in summer , but the food was so bad ! The schnitzel was overcooked, very dry and old , the frites were also old and they were the leftover pieces . The starter was ok ish but nothing impressive. It’s a good place for a drink but I’d suggest to avoid eating there , but if you don’t care about food quality like most Dutch, it won’t bother you ;)

I came here just for a couple of beers with some friends. Basically is a nice place but I didn't like when the waitress told us to don't eat food from other places on their tables. I know she's right, basically is not nice and I agree with her, but sometimes it depends by the situation. I live in Amsterdam from 6 years and I never get complaints about it. Especially in west area, the cafes allowed people to eat outside food if their kitchen is already closed.

Update April 6, 2024: The beer is still great, the service very friendly. Unfortunately, they replaced the buns with thick non-brioche buns. In combination with the thin smash patties, this gives a very dry experience. Hopefully they will go back to the previous supplier! Very tasty (smash) burger, tasty beer and friendly service. We were very sorry that Frits left us, but this eases the pain!

Was looking around for a place to eat and get a drink as we had just arrived in Amsterdam, was lucky to stumble onto this place. Great food, lovely atmosphere and attentive staff. Would recommend to anyone.

Drinks ok, but definitely don't eat there. 4/4 burgers came wrong. 2x veggie burgers came neither smashed nor double, and also with pickles, which according to the menu shouldn't be on it. 1x Classic Cheeseburger came without salad? 1x cheeseburger ordered without cheese and vegetables came with cheese - was complained about immediately and then came with scraped off cheese. Have you ever heard of allergies? Fries didn't come at the same time as the burgers and only after we asked. They were cheap, thin fries that had already been fried three times and tasted like old oil. We gave our feedback to the waiter, no accommodation, sorry or corresponding consideration on the bill.

Great variety of Beers on Tap. Fresh and refreshing.

We were passing by this bar on the tram (route 13) when my eagle-eyed wife spotted the great range of beers on tap through the window, so we spent our last evening in Amsterdam here. The bar has a nice, cosy atmosphere with friendly staff and a reasonable menu of comfort bar food. My only regret is there are some tremendous Dutch beers we sampled here that we can't find back home. :(

Prima gegeten, leuke bierkaart met vele verschillende soorten.

Gekenmerkt door middelmatigheid wordt in deze tent een doornsee-burger met gemiddelde friet verkocht voor de hoofdprijs. Op zich redelijk eten, maar de prijs… meine gute… De ambiance dan? Netjes gereserveerd te hebben verwacht men geplaceerd te worden op een zitbare plek waar ook nog enig comfort genoten mag worden. Helaas, niks is minder waar! Je wordt weggestopt aan een weggepropte tafel, waarboven het bonnen-apparaat op een wandplankje staat te draaien (no joke). Toen ik het voor het laatst controleerde was ‘het moeten verschuiven van de stoelen omdat men ander het hoofd stoot’, niet meteen de onderscheidende factor die mij aantrok in een restaurant. Prijs/kwaliteit is volledig uit het lood geslagen. Middelmatigheid voor de hoofdprijs. Nou is dit in Amsterdam wel vaker aan de orde, maar deze vreetschuur heeft het tot een kunst verheven. Conclusie: bespaar uzelf de moeite.

It's an okay place to grab a couple of drinks but they tend to be negligent with your food, service is okay and the beer selection is pretty good. My fries were bad 2 times in a row and I had months before going back for redemption.

Leuke toevoeging op Mercatorplein. Fijn terras (op de rioolgeur van de nabijgelegenput na). Cheeseburger, friet en ceasar salad besteld. Een salade moest zonder spek nu bleek dat kip ook maar meteen was weggelaten en 1 achovisje wat de sla karig maakte, jammer. Burger was lekker op een goed getoaste brioche bun, lekker dun gesneden augurk. Juicy stuff! Frietjes waren ook goed gebakken, wel te weinig mayo in het kuipje. Die hygiënische doekjes ruiken ZO LEKKER!!!!Good vibes hier!

De snack plaat gehad, die was lekker en smakelijk en een goede portie. Uiteraard heel veel keuze aan biertjes, ook alcoholvrije. Redelijk groot terras buiten. Binnen was het erg warm in verhouding.

My favorite locals bar in West Amsterdam. East and Downtown are also nice locations. Comprehensive beer selection and good eats if a bit pricey. Downtown location is the largest, and it's worth checking all three of them out.

This was one of the best burgers we had in Amsterdam. The rest of the food was also not bad at all. There are lots of beers to choose from the menu, and the staff is helpful, nice and quick.

After a long day travelling, picked this place purely on the needs of a hungry traveller - Burgers and Beer! Sat inside in rather tight fixed table booths, even tighter when we left! The sharing platter to start was a treat, as was the house tap beer, so good I had several. Fish & Chips plus a Great Big Burger with plentiful fries, fresh cooked and tasty served with care - fantastic nose bag! Hard to go elsewhere after that experience but will probably come back after a day of ‘old town ‘dam exploring’. Huge beer menu, possibly one for every day….. Recommended :) Recommended
