Typical tourist restaurant. High prices, very impersonal service. None of the dishes we ate were particularly noteworthy.

A lot of hassle to be allowed to sit wherever you want at the free tables (it wasn't busy), tourists even asked for a minimum spend to be allowed to sit at a table. Hustlers

The location is good, with a view of the square. However, the prices are excessive. We didn't even eat there, and €6.50 for a small glass of orange juice is outrageous.

Extremely expensive for what it is. A tourist trap. The place is nice, but the prices are exorbitant. €10 for a bottle of water. €17.50 for a strawberry cup.

Very bad place!!!!! We wanted to get a drink but said not to sit in the sun, and you get put in the sun again because everything is in the shade. For people who went there to eat something, and oh yeah, I don't recommend anyone eat or drink here either.

We only wanted to get a drink here and wanted to sit in the shade, but the staff wouldn't allow it and were very rude and mean. They said it wasn't allowed, that people could only sit there for food, but you can't force anyone to sit somewhere they don't want to. However, that gentleman was being very difficult and grumpy, and we got an angry and rude response saying that it wasn't possible. We are just being put in the sun while we want to sit in the shade, but that isn't possible. I absolutely do not recommend anyone go here; they just make fun of you. I have to give it 1 star, otherwise I would have given it 0.0 stars. Definitely do not go there; it is really not worth your money.

Relaxing atmosphere. Unwelcoming waiters. My husband and I ordered a digestif, which was served in different quantities. The bartender, despite the obvious issue, responded rudely and didn't resolve the issue. Not cheap for two digestifs.

The food is tasty but the service is terrible! We were finishing lunch when they cleared the table and brought the bill. I said I wanted dessert and coffee, but the waitress Andrea said she needed to close the bill. I asked to speak to a Brazilian waitress, and she said, "Pay first, then I'll call her." Since there was a short wait, she clearly wanted to free up the table! Horrible! We won't be back!

We had a fantastic experience at Majestic! One of the things we appreciated the most is that they are truly dog-friendly, which made us feel very welcome. We started with a traditional Dutch vegetable soup with sausage, which was delicious and full of flavour. We also had the salmon pasta, which was excellent, and an Indonesian dish that had quite a spicy kick but was very tasty. We also tried some Dutch cheeses, which were a great addition to the meal. The staff were incredibly kind, polite, and attentive throughout our visit. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we came back another day. On that second visit, we had the Amsterdam Pleasure cocktail and some nachos, and once again relaxed and enjoyed the atmosphere. Great food, friendly service, a welcoming environment, and perfect if you’re visiting Amsterdam with your dog. Highly recommended!

You pay for the location. It is nice and has a beautiful view. We only had a drink. €5.80 for a 200ml Pepsi. We decided to skip food after seeing the prices and the reviews.

We enjoyed it so much that we went back the next evening. The friendliest service combined with great food. Everything was freshly prepared, even the pasta.

Really bad quality food with great quality food prices. My black angus burger was mcdonalds level quality and cost 28€ + extras. Entrecote was really bad quality, overcooked and chewy (ordered medium). Beers are in the higher price range as pint of hefeweizen was 13€. Absolutely would not recommend.

Decent restaurant with a great via of the square. Great place to people watch and have drink. My wife liked the tulip spritz.

We came here in hopes to experience the culinary excellence of the Dutch cuisine but we were so disappointed!!!! We got there and we sat down. The service was nice however the employees look really overworked. The atmosphere was really weird. While the food was okay, we felt really uncomfortable with how badly the employees felt. It felt really uncomfortable to see how inappropriate some “employees” were treating some of the female workers. It’s a disgrace that in 21st century women still have to struggle so much. I advise not to contribute to the profit of the greedy man who owns this disgraceful establishment!!! If you have a conscience…. Stay away! 🙏

Its location is great, we didn't try the food... but the coffee and juice menu in front of the Royal Palace and the museums is amazing.

The waitress was extremely helpful. We both ordered the fish and chips and a cider/beer to drink. We were able to sit inside air conditioning to enjoy our meal during an extremely hot day. When I asked to have my water bottle filled with tap water they were very accommodating. The food was hot and tasty.

I was in Amsterdam for 4 nights and had dinner twice. Great tagliateli bollonese and a nice big steak. Great service and my plate was what I like - SUBSTANTIAL, not a little tappa! You will enjoy the location, either outside eating or comfortable inside. My favorite spot!

I advise against going there after 10 pm. Rats roam around, and the waiters are busy tidying up tables and chairs, going from a lovely view of the square to stacked chairs. We waited over an hour for our main course, and one of the waiters even thought we'd finished eating, taking away our cutlery and glasses. In short, not a pleasant place.

Horrible is an understatement. We arrived at 10:00 PM, ordered an appetizer and two main courses. The appetizer arrived 15 minutes later, while we had to wait until 11:15 PM for our main courses. During all that time, they were tidying up the terrace in front of us (even asking us to change tables), going from a beautiful view to folded tables and chairs. And to top it all off, while eating a so-called "ribeye steak" (which wasn't one at all), rats were wandering around... The best part? In the middle of dinner, the waiter interrupted us to ask for payment, even though we had barely started eating, without bothering to ask if we would have liked dessert or coffee later. In short, nothing majestic about any of this!

Everything about this experience was outstanding. The food was absolutely delicious, and the desserts were the perfect way to finish the meal. We were blown away by the hospitality, the entire team was incredibly welcoming, always smiling, and attentive to every detail throughout our visit. A special shout-out to our server, Maksym, he provided truly exceptional service. I highly recommend this spot to everyone!

Nice location but terrible service. Ignored for an hour, got drinks when sat for nearly €40 for 2 cocktails and missed their food service as nobody came over. Had to find someone to pay and couldn't get anyones attention to order more drinks.

If you visit this place, check your bill carefully! They have it digital, and after you pay - you see that you've been robbed by some extra things included (you didn't order). Food is mediocre, but scamming customers is real shame.

The interest of the employees, the service is high level. The interested ones are always doing their best to ensure that you leave satisfied. We went with our baby and left satisfied. Toiletries have a substitution unit for babies. There is a large elevator in the venue for disabled/infant carriage customers. It is a clean, stylish and place where you will be pleased. 👍🌸😊

A very nice brasserie; the Caesar salad is excellent, especially with the addition of anchovies. Quick service and a prime location on this lovely square. Quite expensive, but a beautiful location and friendly waiters.

A word of advice to all Gulf nationals: don't be fooled by the place. The service is terrible and the staff are disrespectful. You speak clearly and they don't respond. The prices are also extremely high for what is unfortunately some of the worst service you could experience in Amsterdam.

Really nice place with great food. Feel free to wait for a place that is constantly being changed, it's worth it. Right in the sun. Lots of people who wanted to sit there. Perfectly located. We were 4 people and they were incredible staff who did everything for us to have a good time.

The atmosphere was lovely and the service excellent.

After nearly three hours of walking in the cold and rain, my wife and I, along with two companions from the Viking cruise ship tour group were ready for a break (in every sense of the word). The Majestic provided just the warm welcome we’d wanted. Paula and I split a lovely plate of local Raypenaer cheeses, the best Rye bread we’ve ever had, with walnuts and apple syrup, and enjoyed the warm house glüwein. Our companions had soup and a sandwich. All were tasty! The visit was brief but memorable. Highly recommend the Majestic! Hope we’re able to find something close to that wonderful Rye bread here in North Idaho!

€9.5 for still water! Insane…not even in Monaco I pay this price. Everything was expensive, but water, c’mon!

I have never experienced such a miserable, arrogant service!

I would like to file a complaint about an employee named Hameed who works at Majestic. Unfortunately, his behavior was very disrespectful. He refused to let us in because my sister was eating fries. This could have been explained politely if it is against the rules of the place, but his attitude was extremely rude. The way he spoke was so inappropriate that the person behind me even started laughing, which was very embarrassing. Even when I asked for his name, he responded in an unprofessional and impolite manner. I hope this matter is taken seriously and that the employee is reminded to treat customers with respect, as this experience was very unpleasant and does not reflect well on the place.

A pleasant place to relax and watch the world go by. The large outdoor terrace is especially lovely. The selection of drinks is extensive. In my opinion, the drink prices are rather high, although that's probably normal for such a central location in Amsterdam. The service was friendly and efficient, and "Madame Pipi" was very nice, too.

It's right in the tourist center, so don't expect miracles. The service was friendly, provided by a Romanian waitress who spoke French. Otherwise, the pasta dish was astounding. We could have easily eaten enough for three, and the quality was very average. The traditional pea soup, however, was quite good. Prices are high, but that's to be expected in the tourist center.

We received a very warm welcome from the staff. The waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. The café was quite full, but we were shown to a nice table and received excellent service. To start, I ordered a chicken sandwich with chips. I would have preferred fries instead of chips. I found the prices a bit high, but the café is located in a tourist area, and the service and quality justify the cost. I would like to sincerely thank all the staff for their hard work and wish them continued success.

This place is absolut scam ! 6€ for a 20 cl bottle of water !!! ( while I just asked for a glass of water ) and 6€ for a simple black coffee from machine !!! Avoid this place, it’s total robbery

A very bad experience, especially the cheesecake which looked anything but a cheesecake.

The place is only worth it for a coffee or a couple of beers on the terrace, thanks to the direct view of the plaza and the pleasant atmosphere. It's a smoke-free zone. The food isn't great, and the service is a bit lacking.

A restaurant/coffee shop in a beautiful square. The location is very nice, the food and drinks are average. I can give you a slightly unusual but nice request after a heavy meal, which is ginger tea. It's excellent compared to theirs.

I was here today only for hot chocolate, and when I asked that waiter for the check twice (because I waited a bit time for him to come) In a very rude way and an angry tone he said: ( don’t keep calling me I will come for you) he was very angry and rude.. even if I called many times he should not behave like that. It was my first time here and I faced rude hospitality. The waiter looked like an Asian guy.

Small but good menu, freshly prepared and very tasty food. The fish and chips were great, and the burger was also very good. Friendly and fast service.

We had a wonderful dinner at the atmospheric Majestic. Clean and well-maintained. We received excellent tips from an extremely helpful staff member (I won't mention her name, Romania will do). The chefs were absolutely brilliant this evening: taste, texture, presentation—top notch! My girlfriend had chosen a different dinner, but she was also in culinary delights. And dear reviewers...it's in the heart of Amsterdam, next to the monument, don't complain about the price; it certainly wasn't overly expensive. Mac is nearby; buy a cone of fries or bring your own currant buns, and you'll save money. And we really enjoyed the melting pot of nationalities; excellent (catering) English is spoken. Ethiopia, Israel, Syria, Romania, England, my girlfriend from Uganda and I...from the clay, beautiful, isn't it? Majestic...we were majestically spoiled. We will definitely go back, curious about the continuity of quality and hospitality. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Best location in Dam Square My everything 2 times resting for tea break and dinning

Unfortunately, it was a very bad experience. The service was disappointing, and the staff member was extremely rude. We politely asked to turn off the heater because we were feeling hot, especially since I was with elderly family members, but the worker refused in a disrespectful way and even argued back. The heater was directed only at us and there was no one else around. Very unprofessional behavior — definitely not coming back.

It’s a really nice cafe, not too small but cozy & has a good atmosphere. Their service is good & fast, they got us a table quick even though we were more than 5 people. So far so good. I ordered the ginger tea & they also served honey & the cutest stroopwafel. 😊

horrible service, we were discriminated by server. Our group arrived the restaurant, server said all tables are full. So we waited patiently in the rain until the table is available. People started leaving, tables were getting empty. Server started cleaning tables but never offered us to sit, but welcomed other customers who literally just showed up, and were same number of us, although we waited patiently for a long time.

A great terrace for a break during your visit to Amsterdam. With our beer, they served us some delicious croquettes.

I asked the waiter Waseem politely “can you please remove this” while pointing at the salt and pepper, he responded rudely “ you have hands remove it yourself “ Such a disgrace for a nice place like this to hire a person like Waseem who will ruin the reputation

My husband and I unfortunately had a very disappointing experience at this café. When we asked for a seat, my husband was still holding a piece of churros. Instead of simply helping us normally, an employee rather rudely told him he could finish his meal outside and come back. We waited anyway, but the employee completely ignored us and immediately served the guests who arrived after us. This behavior was disrespectful and made us feel unwelcome. We are very disappointed with this treatment and will not recommend this café. Friendliness and respect towards guests should be a given – unfortunately, the opposite was the case here.

The food was good, the beer even better and Watson our server was the best. I highly recommend this place for an easy meal and a beer.
