The restaurant is situated in a beautiful location and has a pleasant atmosphere. It is definitely a nice place to sit. The food is fine, but not particularly special. Where there is still room for improvement is the service. Unfortunately, it was substandard. The staff is friendly in itself, but does not seem to be trained or supervised well enough. We had to wait a very long time before someone came to us, old glasses remained on the table when new drinks were brought, and unfortunately, our order was not quite right. That is a shame, because this place has a lot of potential. With better guidance and training for the young staff, the experience here could really be a lot stronger.

We made a reservation for 5:00 PM, but upon arrival, the table was still occupied. The table was supposed to be cleared after the guests had left. After sitting at a dirty table for 20 minutes, a young man finally came by and asked if we wanted to order anything else. I said that we were new guests and had already been sitting at an uncleaned, dirty table for 20 minutes. Finally, the table was cleared and cleaned, after which we had to wait a long time for our drinks. When we finally received our starter, our main course was brought immediately afterwards, which we refused because we were still eating soup. Then, just as we were about to leave at 7:30 PM, the main course arrived, which, by the way, was very expensive compared to the portion we received. We ate it quickly, paid the bill, and left immediately. We will never come here again.

The service was fine; we were served quickly. We both ordered pancakes. Unfortunately, the pancake was very thin and the taste was disappointing. Unfortunately, it is not worth repeating for us. The location is beautiful, but the food was quite disappointing.

We reserved a table here three days ago, but upon arrival, it turned out it still needed to be fully set up. For our large group with children, we ordered pancakes. What followed was downright disappointing. We had to wait for more than 60 minutes, after which the pancakes were served at different times. With four small children, that is simply not a success. On top of that, one pancake was served burnt. After sending it back, we received a new one, but this one was also burnt, this time hidden on top under a thick layer of cheese. This raises serious questions about the kitchen and quality control. We even doubted whether the pancakes were properly cooked. Unfortunately, that proved to be justified: several family members suffered from stomach and intestinal problems all night. We received two pancakes and drinks on the house, but that does not compensate at all for the poor quality, the long wait, and the stomach and intestinal complaints we were left with. For the amount we eventually paid, you simply have to expect much better. For us, this was a very disappointing experience and certainly not a place we will return to.

There were a lot of waitstaff walking around; we were initially sent inside to ask for a seat, even though there were many tables available. Inside, two people said that wasn't their responsibility. After more than three minutes, we were told that a table was available. While we were waiting for the table, people wanted to pay. They were sent back (literally... they had to go back to their table) and were allowed to pay the waiter at their table. Paying after our drinks was also difficult because our waiter had been inside for a while. Walking inside wasn't possible—we had already been told that—and paying at someone else's table wasn't an option either. All of this didn't come across as very hospitable, even though it was quite quiet at that moment.

After a walk in the woods, we thought we would have a nice dinner. Upon entering, we were shown to a table outside right in the sun. We asked for a different table, and this was resolved immediately. We felt the tables were very unstable and looked old and worn, as did the chairs; perhaps adding cushions would make them more comfortable. We ordered drinks and asked for the menu; it was just a sheet of paper that is probably reprinted every day. The cutlery didn't look very clean; it should have been served differently. The food on both menus lacked flavor, and the salad served with it consisted of 2 large pieces of dry lettuce with a few pieces of red onion and 1 piece of tomato; no dressing. The rib eye was also tasteless/bland; fortunately, I was able to season it with the herb butter that came with it. The stew was like mush, not tasty, and also bland. Was there even a chef present? The staff walking around were very young. For dessert, there wasn't much choice on the paper menu, so we paid and decided to have it elsewhere. We will certainly come back here for a walk in the woods, but not to dine anymore.

You can enjoy sitting outside with the dog. However, the service takes a long time. We had already been sitting for an hour before they came to ask us what we wanted to eat. Fortunately, we did already have drinks. The lunch special was watery asparagus soup; it didn't taste like it was freshly made. The salmon sandwich was sparsely topped with one slice of salmon that was even smaller than the slice of bread. The croquette sandwich, though, was delicious. The pancakes were very good. The service was friendly, but they didn't bring water for the dogs. I will definitely come back here because it is a lovely place to sit and there are beautiful walking routes.

Great place in the middle of the beautiful forest near Dwingeloo. We ordered a toasted sandwich and a pancake. The staff is very attentive and friendly, and the level of service is high. The pancake was partly a bit burnt, but it was taken off the bill without me even asking, and we didn't have to pay for the toasted sandwich (which was very good) either. We were very pleasantly surprised by this. Highly recommended, and we will definitely be back.

My grandmother is a diabetic and had to wait an hour, while other people after us got there sooner; it is taking dangerously long.

The location is nice, but the food and service are poor. We had indicated that we didn't want onion due to an allergy, yet there was onion on it anyway. After we complained, we were told that we "should indicate from now on that it was an allergy." It's not very polite to put the blame on us. We also had to wait a long time for food and drinks. It's a good thing there was nothing else nearby. It is nice that they removed the burger from the bill, but this could have ended very badly. I would take the car and go somewhere else.

Terrible! Schnitzel sold out. Then surf and rural or rib eye. Sold out!! Whitsun weekend!! How is this possible?

Super nice place, right in the middle of the woods. It wasn't a problem that it was full inside, because we were simply served outside and sat nice and dry under a tarp by a self-fired stove. Enjoyed some drinks and food.

The reception was extremely unfriendly. We were not greeted, and after I asked if we could sit somewhere, the only question I received was whether we had a reservation. “No, then only outside,” was the only brief answer. Subsequently, there was chaos in the service; the terrace was packed with dissatisfied visitors. Several people complained about having to wait a very long time to place an order or to have food served. I saw several people leave because of the long wait.

We had a reservation for 5:00 PM, received our food at 6:00 PM (waited an hour), finished our meal, and really wanted to order dessert, but that was no longer possible because the table was reserved for someone else again at 6:30 PM. We pointed out that we had to wait an hour for our food and had already eaten within half an hour, but no, we had to leave or eat our dessert outside in the tent. Since it was raining and 5 degrees, we decided not to do that. It is very unfortunate to be "kicked out" like that.

The waiting times are (much) too long. The asparagus soup is just water with some asparagus flavor. For us, it was a huge disappointment. It's a shame, because it is a nice location.

On King's Day 2026, I went there for lunch with my two teenagers. It is a beautiful, busy spot on the edge of the forest. We ordered stew with fries, mushroom stew, and goat cheese salad with bread. The concept is good and the ingredients are fresh. Both stews were tasty and good, as was a nice portion of fries. The salad was delicious, but very small and contained virtually no lettuce. The bread consisted of a single roll measuring 3.5x3.5cm. Upon inquiry, apologies were offered, but nothing was done about it. After insisting, one extra roll of the same size was provided. Fortunately, we had already had something to drink beforehand, as everything took a very long time. Unfortunately, the drinks intended to accompany the meal had still not been served after the meal. We then asked to exchange them for coffee. That was possible. Unfortunately, it turned out afterwards that the drinks ordered but not taken were still on the bill and charged. Also, people around us kept mentioning that the coffee was cold, or that the appetizers had been served cold. All this while the staff were standing around chatting extensively amongst themselves in between orders, paying no attention to all the hands being raised here and there to place a order. Owner, there goes your revenue.

We enjoyed ourselves very much, the food is delicious and the service is impeccable! If we had the chance, we would definitely come here more often.

Beautiful location. Lots of children having a great time. Had to wait a long time (>40 min for a salad and a fried egg). The order was wrong and changing it would take just as long. Then, unordered drinks were placed on the table, which were taken away again after we pointed out they weren't for us, and the empty bottles were simply put back on the table. It was not a pleasant experience for us.

I was there with family on Easter Monday. There was a shortage of staff. We had to wait an hour and a half for our food even though we had made a reservation. The food was still cold after an hour and a half.

We were staying in a holiday cottage close to De Bospub and popped in for lunch on our first day. We enjoyed it so much that we returned for dinner that night and dinner once again before we left. Food was great (especially the fries), nothing fancy but well prepared and tasty. Had ribs one night and surf and turf the next. Beer was very good. Staff were very friendly and importantly for us the restaurant was very dog friendly for our Golden Retriever, Lola.

Today I ate pancakes; one with bacon and the other had a pancake with bacon and cheese. Both pancakes were quite burnt. I showed the young waiter that more than half of them were pretty black. There was little reaction, so I then said, "Just take them to the cook." To my great surprise—and I watched from a distance—how the cook reacted. He put both hands on his hips and then just shrugged his shoulders. Unbelievable, what a trivial reaction. Then came the bill of almost 45 euros. I asked if a lower amount could be charged, and after settling the bill, the waiter said, "Have a nice day." We were completely ignored. No apologies from the waiter or the cook. Truly unbelievable, and as we were leaving, they even said, "We are never coming back here." So I will never recommend this restaurant again. Beautiful place with bad food.

So cozy... truly a fairytale spot in the middle of the forest. There is limited parking. Tip: park your car at the parking lot of Oude Hoogeveensedijk 3, 7991 PD Dwingeloo. From there, it is a 7-minute walk through the beautiful forest to the restaurant. There are also terraces, some of which feature a table fireplace. The menu (for lunch) is very extensive and delicious. Reserving in advance is a must, as it is popular.

I asked where we could sit. A slightly older waitress said, "Under the awning." My husband had walked over to a table for two. A young waitress said it was free. There wasn't a reserved sign either! Then the other waitress came over with long black hair and literally said, "I told you to sit there." I apologized, explaining that my husband had moved on. It used to be very nice here. But now it's very commercial and expensive, and the tone is also rude. We certainly won't be coming back.

I think it's a nice place after a walk or in the summer. Inside, the tables are very close together and a bit too crowded, which also makes them a bit noisy. The food is okay, with large portions of fries. The meat was okay, but two lettuce leaves and three cucumber slices is really quite meager. Personally, I'd go there for a drink after a walk, but not for dinner.

Nice place, good food and drinks. The local beer from the Bospub was delicious. The portions were very generous (toasted sandwiches), and with the drinks platter, you pay per person. We didn't realize that, and you get quite a lot.

We had a wonderful meal at the Bospub tonight. I was walking past this afternoon and had some reservations about the restaurant. The weather didn't help much with our impressions. We had a stew. Dry, no sauce, very sour. We couldn't eat half of what we ate. We left the food, paid, and left.

The food here is simply good. We both had a pancake with cheese and bacon. Nothing special, just fine. It was quite busy, though, and you simply couldn't hear each other. The chairs were so close together that the table behind me could only be moved if I made room. Overall, a great place.

A beautiful location for a meal after a lovely walk. We did scavenger hunt number 2 (reservations are required at the Bospub). It was great fun! Friendly staff and delicious food. We had a party of 14, and the service was quick.

After a walk on Boxing Day, we stopped by for a drink and decided to stay for dinner. After some shuffling of tables, they managed to free up a spot for us for two hours. It was amazing and unexpected that it was possible. We had a fantastic evening thanks to the delicious food, friendly staff, and excellent service.

The pancake was inedible; I couldn't even finish a quarter. The server suggested making a new pancake, which was pointless because there was too much baking soda in the batter, and they couldn't change that anyway.

The Boshuis burger is super delicious. The price-quality ratio is excellent, and the atmosphere is cozy and warm.

A very pleasant place! We went there after a walk, and the atmosphere is cozy. The service is friendly and fast, and the food is delicious!

What a disappointment. We arrived at 6:30 PM and left at 9:30 PM. In the meantime, we had had a starter and a main course (which took them three hours). The table was very cramped for six people. The prawns looked more like shrimp and were very small. One of us was served the wrong starter. The meat served with the main course was cold. After it was sent back, it took fifteen minutes for it to arrive. We saw that the meat had simply been attached to the plate by hand. Another main course (a stew) arrived 10 minutes later than the other dishes. Unfortunately, the taste and quality of this dish were very poor. When dessert arrived after 10 minutes, two eggnogs (avocado) were served with it. After waiting another fifteen minutes, the desserts still hadn't arrived. We then decided to leave and pay. The staff's reaction was unfriendly and completely unsympathetic. When the staff was asked something, they couldn't answer. Furthermore, orders weren't taken correctly or were forgotten. A real shame.

The food at De Bospub was okay, but the service was very slow and not very attentive. The spot we were seated in was less cozy than the rest of the restaurant, tucked away in a corner. I had the Sourdough BLT Deluxe. It was okay, but the slices of bread were so thick that it was hard to take a proper bite, making the overall flavor experience less enjoyable. The egg was overcooked—almost blue—and the truffle mayonnaise was barely noticeable. It could be a nice place for a coffee, but for lunch, I might look elsewhere. The entrance was also quite difficult to find.

The pub has a nice atmosphere. It was a bit chilly when we arrived, and we sat at a table with a single window. It felt a bit drafty, but it hadn't been open long, so it probably hadn't warmed up completely yet. We had made a reservation for drinks at 11:30 and lunch from 12:30. The girl who helped us wasn't aware of this, which was a bit strange. Otherwise, we had a delicious lunch, and the service was good. The owner was super friendly and helpful. We wanted to take a walk, and she showed us around. There's not a lot of parking, and there are some trees in between, which doesn't make it easy.

The quality of the food was very poor. We also noticed poor communication skills among several staff members; they communicated an allergy, which was subsequently ignored in the preparation of the dish. To prevent escalation, we ordered an alternative. After 30 minutes, the presumed owner approached us and asked who was going to pay for the dish. He persisted (too) long and tried to prove his point. We found this inappropriate and threatening manner, including the timing (other family members had already finished their dishes), very unprofessional and unfriendly. Our tip: send the chef to the table immediately and politely explain the preparation. Furthermore, extra attention to the preparation of the dishes would be beneficial (price/quality).

What a nightmare. A lovely evening with Irish music. You walk in, the restaurant is half empty, and there's no music. Sorry, we're no longer accepting customers without reservations. On busy days like this, you're not going to take reservations, are you? They turn customers away at the door and then end up with empty tables. There were literally 25 people waiting outside the door who could have left immediately. A well-deserved one star.

Unfortunately I was completely ignored by the staff so I left again.

Very cozy restaurant/forest pub in the forest

We've been here many times in the summer, with a lovely terrace, and now it's late autumn, so we're sitting inside. Not too many guests, but apparently enough to keep the staff busy. First, upon arrival, it took ages to be shown to our table and then to take our drink orders. The table was dirty, and initially the waiter just wanted to wipe the table over/around it until my wife mentioned it and he quickly cleaned it up (there were still plenty of crumbs left). So, we finished our drinks and went elsewhere for a meal. It's a shame, because we know things can be different.

The food was delicious, and the location is exactly what you'd expect from a forest pub: casual and cozy. Unfortunately, the portions were all very large, so we definitely couldn't finish it all.
