Had a delicious lunch. The burgers are highly recommended.

The food here is simply good. We both had a pancake with cheese and bacon. Nothing special, just fine. It was quite busy, though, and you simply couldn't hear each other. The chairs were so close together that the table behind me could only be moved if I made room. Overall, a great place.

The food was delicious, the staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere was lovely. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back.

A great little place to grab a bite to eat and drink before or after a walk in the woods. They have plenty of pancakes, as well as plenty of other options for both lunch and dinner.

A beautiful location for a meal after a lovely walk. We did scavenger hunt number 2 (reservations are required at the Bospub). It was great fun! Friendly staff and delicious food. We had a party of 14, and the service was quick.

After a walk on Boxing Day, we stopped by for a drink and decided to stay for dinner. After some shuffling of tables, they managed to free up a spot for us for two hours. It was amazing and unexpected that it was possible. We had a fantastic evening thanks to the delicious food, friendly staff, and excellent service.

The food was fine, but it took over an hour for our food to arrive. It was very busy, though.

The pancake was inedible; I couldn't even finish a quarter. The server suggested making a new pancake, which was pointless because there was too much baking soda in the batter, and they couldn't change that anyway.

The Boshuis burger is super delicious. The price-quality ratio is excellent, and the atmosphere is cozy and warm.

A very pleasant place! We went there after a walk, and the atmosphere is cozy. The service is friendly and fast, and the food is delicious!

What a disappointment. We arrived at 6:30 PM and left at 9:30 PM. In the meantime, we had had a starter and a main course (which took them three hours). The table was very cramped for six people. The prawns looked more like shrimp and were very small. One of us was served the wrong starter. The meat served with the main course was cold. After it was sent back, it took fifteen minutes for it to arrive. We saw that the meat had simply been attached to the plate by hand. Another main course (a stew) arrived 10 minutes later than the other dishes. Unfortunately, the taste and quality of this dish were very poor. When dessert arrived after 10 minutes, two eggnogs (avocado) were served with it. After waiting another fifteen minutes, the desserts still hadn't arrived. We then decided to leave and pay. The staff's reaction was unfriendly and completely unsympathetic. When the staff was asked something, they couldn't answer. Furthermore, orders weren't taken correctly or were forgotten. A real shame.

The food at De Bospub was okay, but the service was very slow and not very attentive. The spot we were seated in was less cozy than the rest of the restaurant, tucked away in a corner. I had the Sourdough BLT Deluxe. It was okay, but the slices of bread were so thick that it was hard to take a proper bite, making the overall flavor experience less enjoyable. The egg was overcooked—almost blue—and the truffle mayonnaise was barely noticeable. It could be a nice place for a coffee, but for lunch, I might look elsewhere. The entrance was also quite difficult to find.

The pub has a nice atmosphere. It was a bit chilly when we arrived, and we sat at a table with a single window. It felt a bit drafty, but it hadn't been open long, so it probably hadn't warmed up completely yet. We had made a reservation for drinks at 11:30 and lunch from 12:30. The girl who helped us wasn't aware of this, which was a bit strange. Otherwise, we had a delicious lunch, and the service was good. The owner was super friendly and helpful. We wanted to take a walk, and she showed us around. There's not a lot of parking, and there are some trees in between, which doesn't make it easy.

Great restaurant atmosphere and top staff

The quality of the food was very poor. We also noticed poor communication skills among several staff members; they communicated an allergy, which was subsequently ignored in the preparation of the dish. To prevent escalation, we ordered an alternative. After 30 minutes, the presumed owner approached us and asked who was going to pay for the dish. He persisted (too) long and tried to prove his point. We found this inappropriate and threatening manner, including the timing (other family members had already finished their dishes), very unprofessional and unfriendly. Our tip: send the chef to the table immediately and politely explain the preparation. Furthermore, extra attention to the preparation of the dishes would be beneficial (price/quality).

What a nightmare. A lovely evening with Irish music. You walk in, the restaurant is half empty, and there's no music. Sorry, we're no longer accepting customers without reservations. On busy days like this, you're not going to take reservations, are you? They turn customers away at the door and then end up with empty tables. There were literally 25 people waiting outside the door who could have left immediately. A well-deserved one star.

Very cozy restaurant/forest pub in the forest

Unfortunately I was completely ignored by the staff so I left again.

We've been here many times in the summer, with a lovely terrace, and now it's late autumn, so we're sitting inside. Not too many guests, but apparently enough to keep the staff busy. First, upon arrival, it took ages to be shown to our table and then to take our drink orders. The table was dirty, and initially the waiter just wanted to wipe the table over/around it until my wife mentioned it and he quickly cleaned it up (there were still plenty of crumbs left). So, we finished our drinks and went elsewhere for a meal. It's a shame, because we know things can be different.

The food was delicious, and the location is exactly what you'd expect from a forest pub: casual and cozy. Unfortunately, the portions were all very large, so we definitely couldn't finish it all.

Last year we also ate there around this time, sitting outside in the afternoon. This year (tonight, September 28, 2025), we ate there after a bike ride in and around Dwingeloo. We arrived around 4:15 PM and saw it was already busy, but we were able to reserve a table for two from 6:00 PM. My girlfriend co-owns a garden center where renovations are almost complete, with a garden café as an addition. She also worked in hospitality and noticed that the team at De Bospub works very well together. Despite being busy, we had already finished our main courses (steak and spare ribs) and dessert by 7:00 PM. The food was delicious again, a generous plate full of crisp-like fries and a well-filled salad. The steak was perfectly cooked, and I easily removed the meat from the spare ribs. The staff was polite, friendly, and attentive. When I complimented one of the female team members on their dream team, she said they were also a fun team to work with, which said it all. The Bospub is charmingly situated on the edge of the woods, with a playground next to the restaurant.

Casual atmosphere. Open and welcoming. Nicely decorated, both the tables and the walls (and ceiling). We only had a drink this time, but I know from previous visits that the food is really good here.

A bit busy on weekends, but in a truly beautiful location, perfect for lunch, a stroll in the surrounding area, and a casual dinner afterward. Also suitable for groups. (The fries were delicious! Not entirely unimportant, although the other items on the menu are perhaps more important.)

On Sunday, the kitchen closed at 7 PM, so I couldn't eat anything. I went back the next day because they were supposed to be open (they recently updated it on Google). Unfortunately, I cycled a really long way for nothing. Such a shame! Edit: I changed the stars because it looked nice.

I cycled from Echten to the Bospub. First, I took a lovely walk and then enjoyed a "Fries Stew" at the Bospub. Beautiful surroundings and a cozy place to eat and drink.

The food is okay, but the wait times are excessive. Forty-five minutes for a grilled cheese sandwich and an omelet. Prices are quite high for what you get.

Plenty of room, but we weren't allowed in because there weren't enough staff. They should have put up a sign by the road. Now, every visitor came back grumpy because they weren't allowed in.

After 45 minutes, lunch arrived (!), only to discover the wrong sandwich was ordered. Another 20-minute wait...for a sandwich! Unbelievable.

Horrible, a 45-minute wait for a simple toasted sandwich. Dirty cutlery, and why is the outdoor patio closed when the weather was beautiful??? Everyone was crammed under the tent. We're from Drenthe ourselves, but this isn't Drenthe's style!

First and last time at De Bospub. Unfriendly staff, poor service, waited over an hour for our food. The service was grumpy and completely unhelpful - I accidentally ordered the wrong IPA (I wanted the 0.0 and got the one with alcohol) "Yes, we have three on the menu," well, I don't know that, of course, and then it was exchanged with difficulty. "Yes, I can't exchange it anymore, this one's already open," I understand that, but a good service is to exchange it politely. When my table companion responded with a strange reaction while clearing the plate, "Oh, you want to get rid of your plate too?", she jokingly replied, "Yes, I'm not taking it home🤣." Seriously, what service - not. The pancakes were as dry as Santa Claus's behind, as were the chicken satay. The fries were potato wedges, straight from the freezer. Absolutely not recommended. Luckily, we were able to laugh about it together. The next day, we had a delicious meal at De Brink in Dwingeloo, a quick and professional operation!

Always a good time at De Bospub

Waiting over an hour for food, while watching the cook constantly wait to flip his pancake. Plates are not plated, and the prices are far too high for what you get. Dogs being allowed in a place where you can also eat feels gross.

The location is very nice. Simple/average pastries, good coffee. I don't think the price-quality ratio is right, but the location makes up for it somewhat.

Halfway through a beautiful walk, I stopped for lunch at the Bospub. The service was friendly and efficient. The cappuccino and latte were perfectly warm, and they even serve real milk instead of woody milk, which is much less flavorful. We had toasted sandwiches, which were exceptionally tasty. A nice bonus was that they consisted of three slices of bread stacked on top of each other, each with two toppings. And what a surprise that we could choose the sauce we wanted with each. Well, that was quite filling. All in all, I highly recommend this place.

We waited over an hour for our food and I ended up paying 19,50 € for a pancake that didn't make me full.

2024: Simply delicious food, good beer menu. A bit pricey though. The staff were mainly young people, so we sometimes had to make an effort to get attention (ordering an extra drink, etc.). Update 2025 Made a reservation, the table was ready on time. Order taken, but after more than 45 minutes still hadn't received anything... Inquiry told us the kitchen was busy and the last dish (including ours) would arrive in 7 minutes (?). After more than 20 minutes, we inquired again... our receipt was lost... AND the spare ribs we ordered were gone! We accepted Bospub's offer of a free alternative main course because we were already very hungry. Ultimately, we left with mixed feelings. We tried to make another reservation later that week, but when we answered the phone, we were told "one moment please" and that took more than 4 minutes. The second time we called, the same thing happened, so we decided not to go to Bospub again, but to a different restaurant. I still think the food is good, but the service remains difficult.

Fantastic! The restaurant is located in the Dwingeloo woods. The drinks menu is filled with specialty beers, as evidenced by the beer signs on the walls. The food was also delicious; you get a generous plate full!

A very pleasant restaurant, only a shame that my steak, which I ordered medium, was still far too raw, even the new one I received later. The beef stew my husband ordered was cold, but the second time it was hot. And it's a shame we only got an apology and no discount.

The Bospub is super cozy and a great place for a hot chocolate or a beer in a pleasant atmosphere. For food, you're better off going elsewhere. Due to a kitchen error, my friend swallowed something he wasn't supposed to, even though we'd ordered something different. It was awful. The service was chaotic. The chocolates tasted like they'd been sitting in a dusty cupboard for a year. So, beer; fine, food; better elsewhere.

The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect. We had made a reservation, and after half an hour we were able to order a glass of (not clean) drink. We didn't get a menu. After another half hour, we were finally able to order, and then we waited over an hour for the pancakes. Bizarre! It was already two hours after arriving. We also couldn't order any drinks in between. We decided to skip dessert and leave as quickly as possible.

What a wonderfully atmospheric place to relax after a walk or just to enjoy it. The service was incredibly friendly and helpful, truly top-notch! With humor and kindness, we received very fast service and excellent food and drinks. The price-quality ratio is a solid 10. Definitely recommended.

Nice place, great menu. When we were there, the staff was very young, which made things a bit slow. The food (lunch, salmon sandwich, and pancake) was really nothing special. It lacked flavor and attention to presentation.

It's a shame the garden, which used to be such a pleasure, is no longer used. Only dark areas under a tarp are still used. Such a shame. For me, it's a reason to look for another pancake house where you can enjoy outdoor seating.

A charming forest pub under a tent in the woods where, in our opinion, they can't make a proper fried egg sandwich. All the ingredients for the fried egg sandwich were thrown together and straight into the frying pan. Then it was piled high, half-baked, on a slice of bread. No decoration and a handful of dull lettuce. This wasn't a chef. Is the chef on vacation, so there's no professional chef available for lunch? Very young staff.

What a lovely spot in the woods and shade. We enjoyed a delicious appetizer platter and a drink. There was live music, which created a wonderful atmosphere.

It's best to call ahead to reserve. The location is very nice, but it's also quite busy. The ordering process and the service flow could be improved. We had a total of three servers who didn't know each other.
