Been here several times; I have to say the dishes are fine, but the service really leaves a lot to be desired! Again today; we waved repeatedly to indicate we wanted to order more. Time and time again, they didn't seem to notice us. Unfortunately, we didn't get a 2nd or 3rd drink, no dessert, and no cup of tea afterwards! Even when I voiced my grievances when settling the bill, there was no response! When I confronted the host about it, he offered apologies, but they didn't seem very sincere because he clearly wasn't paying attention! It's a shame, they must be missing out on a lot of revenue. I am updating my review; the service has become terribly bad! Went again last Sunday, after a long time. The order itself arrived quite quickly, but getting the cutlery wasn't that easy! After waving to the staff a few times and asking a young man who didn't even know what you meant by cutlery (yes, really), he said: "What is cutlery?" But I walked up myself and asked for cutlery. That same boy still didn't know what I meant, so I said again: what you eat with, a fork and a knife! He asked a lady behind the bar what I meant, and that woman even told me not to look angry, because the boy had just started! Honestly, I had already explained to that boy twice that I wanted cutlery, a fork and a knife—how difficult is that if you want to work in service?—but the reaction of the woman behind the bar was the deciding factor for us not to come back here! Nice location, that is their strength, but don't expect much from the service here!

I have eaten here quite often in the past, and for what it is, it is fine. Nothing high-end culinary, but that is not what they pretend to be. Large portions, etc. Today, however, I had to wait 50 minutes for one drink (the other drink never arrived). After that, I hoped the lunch menu would be brought (it was supposed to happen), but it never came. So I just paid. I thought they would compensate by giving me the one drink for free, but no.

Rustic location in a beautiful landscape. We had reserved a table here. Friendly and fast service. However, there was a half-hour gap between taking the order and settling the bill! We ordered pancakes and unfortunately, they were not good. Tasteless and thin like a crêpe. Unfortunately, far too expensive for that.

Apparently there was a shortage of staff when we were there, because we were almost turned away even though there were still seats available.

We arrived without making an appointment and were helped very kindly. The restaurant was packed, but a spot would become available soon. After 10 minutes it was our turn and we were served very quickly. The food was fine and the dessert amazing. Contrary to some reviews, the service is very friendly and we had a pleasant interaction with the staff. Nothing to complain about.

We were recommended to eat here during our holiday. Unfortunately, it was a different experience than expected. The service was very poor, the food took a long time to arrive, and when we finally got our food, we had to wait at least 10 minutes for cutlery. We ended up getting it ourselves. There was no hospitality and the atmosphere was unpleasant. Unfortunately. Possibly something for the owners of the forest pub to consider.

Cozy place to relax after a cycling or walking route with friendly staff

After a long walk in the woods, we wanted something to drink. We chose a half-liter of Franziskaner. However, it was sold out, and the lady offered us a half-liter of Erdinger on tap. We assumed it would be the same price (€6 per glass), but this came as a very bad surprise when we had to pay. Namely €18, which we find a bit excessive; it was not on the menu and/or had not been communicated to us.

Cozy, informal spot on the edge of the Dwingelderveld. Don't expect haute cuisine, but good enough to come back for (after a walk or something).

You have to wait a long time for your order, but otherwise it's fine for a one-time visit.

Nice place to eat outside, friendly and efficient service. Fish main course salad on the small side but tasted great. The cappuccino is delicious, curious which blend of Mocca d'Or they use.

Great ambiance! Unfortunately, that doesn't apply to the rest. The food was truly substandard, the charcuterie board was incorrect, and the nachos were really overcooked, making them inedible. The staff struggled a lot with their own guest allocation and kept changing everything, cornering themselves in the process. Questions such as what the daily special is and whether there is a coloring page for a child still need to be answered and brought to the table. So, unfortunately, the reviews are true. They really focus too much on one-day guests. A shame.

I love coming here; it is a fantastic place. Unfortunately, I have experienced several times now that the high chairs are very dirty. Today, my 9-month-old baby was even covered in another child's poop because the chair had not been cleaned. The changing pad did not look clean either. It is a shame, because with a little more attention to regularly cleaning the high chairs and the changing area, this lovely location would be even more pleasant for young families.

Checked in properly as stated at the entrance. Received absolutely no further assistance. People who just walked right past and sat down anywhere were served sooner. That is why we just got up and left without being able to order anything. Never again.

A bit on the expensive side considering the quality of the food. The mustard soup was watery, the meat in the stew was very dry, and the burger was not fully cooked.

After a long walk, we wanted to grab a drink. We happened to pass by "de BosPub". We thought it was a pub very suitable for a drink. Upon entering, there was a sign on the terrace saying "wait here for the staff so you could be shown to a table". After waiting for 5 minutes and seeing that there were only a few visitors on the terrace and absolutely no one inside, we decided to approach a staff member who was standing inside looking uninterested. We were asked if we had made a reservation. We hadn't, and we were then asked in an unfriendly manner to return to the sign on the terrace that said "wait here". We left immediately. Therefore, we cannot judge the further service, hence 2 stars. But my advice: don't call yourself a pub if you don't actually want hikers who only want to order a drink.

The quality of the pancakes left something to be desired. A slightly pale pancake with 4 pieces of bacon isn't worth €13 to me. The ones from Albert Heyn are even tastier 😉

We were standing outside waiting to be shown to a table. There was no one to greet us! After 5 minutes, we went inside, where they said: wait outside until someone takes you to a table! We went outside and immediately went to the car to look for another restaurant! What terrible treatment! That is simply not how you treat guests!!! Absolutely terrible!

During our stay, we ate here twice, inside in the evening and outside at lunchtime. It is super cozy here, the food is good.

Just this review to improve things in the future… whereas we were previously very okay with the service and food, we were very disappointed last Saturday… before entering, we were greeted by two young staff members who couldn't even manage a hi, hello, or good morning; they got into an argument about who would take us to the table in the garden, with the one they chose pointing out where we needed to go from a distance. The table was still full of food from previous guests, and a little later we were asked if we had enjoyed it 🫣 presumably our predecessors hadn't enjoyed it since there was still all sorts of stuff left on their full plates. The wait staff took a very long time to clear the tables and take our order… eventually we received a watery mustard soup with a few pieces of bread (no butter), a white pancake with 3 slices of bacon, and a croquette sandwich with dry bread. This was truly the last time we ate here; it was also striking that there was really only inexperienced staff working there and no one was directing them… what a shame, what a shame, what a shame…

Hidden away from the main road, this pub is great. You may need to do a reservation to sit outside if the weather is nice. There is plenty of room inside though.

We ate pancakes today with 4 people. The pancakes were bland. The pineapple had a strange aftertaste and the cheese did not taste good. One pancake with cheese and bacon was burnt. The service was correct. We had a view of the kitchen and saw an employee wiping his fingers and then wiping them on his shirt. Also, food was sometimes placed on the plate with bare hands. All in all, a very bad experience; we paid the bill and ate dessert somewhere else.

Sat outside under cover with the dog. The canvases shielded well from the rain. Had hot chocolate with apple pie. Very tasty apple pie, and the hot chocolate was also very delicious and nice and hot.

Reception not really welcoming "just go sit somewhere over there" .... Service slow, incompetent, often having to search for the right tables. Table numbering would be handy. Cutlery forgotten... Often walking back and forth without success. Green iced tea out of stock even though the drinks supplier was there this morning..!? It took at least an hour before we got our lunch. We were about to leave, and when you see what it actually is, I would be ashamed if I were the owner. Lunch, Desum bread carpaccio, tasty bread though. Stingy with the carpaccio, some arugula lettuce and pine nuts, nothing special. Double smashburger with fries. Burger buns covered in grease. And a few thick fries, not worth the extra 4 euros. Several guests had been waiting a long time for their lunch, order, or a simple cup of coffee. You could hear the complaints mounting. Tip for the owner: If the kitchen can't handle it or you have too little staff, close off a section of your terrace so you maintain control. Assign someone to oversee the flow between the terrace and the kitchen, or go and see for yourself how the business is (not) running. Let the guests know that it might take a while, so they can make their own decision. You prefer guests to leave satisfied and come back. Satisfied guests stick around and spend more... and come back! We won't be coming back, certainly not for the price you have to pay and what you get in return; that is not just the food, but especially the service. It's a shame, really, because it is a nice place in a nice location. A real missed opportunity... We would have loved to come back here.

Great value for money on tasty food. The outdoor ambiance is very good. Orders could sometimes be coordinated a little better, for example, so that the two table companions receive dessert at the same time.

It is truly lovely to sit here. The trees provide shade and little birds are flying everywhere. The portions are large and most dishes are well-seasoned. I would advise vegetarians against the avocado burger, however, as the avocado is not on the bun but incorporated into the burger itself. That does not benefit the taste of the burger. The staff was friendly, but not always very attentive.

Unfortunately, we ate there for the 2nd and last time now. We ate there last year and had to wait a very long time. We gave it a second chance anyway, but once again had to wait 60 minutes for 3 pancakes for lunch. Unfortunately, my son sat down on a very wet cushion. And the little bowls with decorations for the kids' pancakes were greasy and dirty. The place is nice, but it's a shame about another bad experience..

We come here often, to walk the dog and for a nice cup of coffee and/or a sandwich. Always to our full satisfaction. On Friday, June 26, 2026, we decided to go for a meal at the Bospub; it had been a while. It was very hot, and perhaps that is why something went wrong somewhere. We both had the ribeye with fries and salad. There was nothing wrong with the ribeye and the fries, but the salad served with it was downright abominably bad. Lukewarm, no dressing, large leaves of red lettuce, and large slices of cucumber—that was it. As a starter, my wife had beef carpaccio, which was very lukewarm, bordering on hot, and I had the salmon carpaccio, which was probably the last salmon from the kitchen. The carpaccio, a measly 5 slices the size of an old-fashioned guilder coin, was hidden under a quarter bag of arugula, some capers, and a dollop of mayonnaise of indefinable taste. In short, bad. Now, it is always said that if you have complaints, you should mention them immediately. But that is not how it works in practice; your own evening and that of the host/hostess is already ruined, and I don't feel like going around complaining on a crowded terrace, which is why I am doing it this way. Very unfriendly staff on the terrace in terms of service. We had to wait a very long time before we were served, even though it wasn't super busy. Eventually received fresh mint tea while I had ordered ginger tea. It did eventually arrive, but no apology for the mistake or anything like that... after that, we wanted something to eat. It took a long time before we could order, and then it took a long time before our pancakes were brought to the table. We were not asked if we wanted anything to drink with the pancakes. By then, many tables were already full of items left by guests. It wasn't cleaned up. We were not offered syrup or powdered sugar with our pancakes. In the end, we just grabbed some ourselves from another table belonging to guests who had already left. We found the boy and girl serving on the terrace unfriendly and unprofessional anyway. They were sitting there talking about guests, overhearing quite a bit of what we were hearing; surely this is unacceptable?!! I was here once with a friend and had a totally different experience then, otherwise I would never have come back. But based on today's negative experience, I fear I won't be returning here anytime soon. What a shame for such a beautiful location. For the first time in my life, I didn't leave a tip.

The restaurant is situated in a beautiful location and has a pleasant atmosphere. It is definitely a nice place to sit. The food is fine, but not particularly special. Where there is still room for improvement is the service. Unfortunately, it was substandard. The staff is friendly in itself, but does not seem to be trained or supervised well enough. We had to wait a very long time before someone came to us, old glasses remained on the table when new drinks were brought, and unfortunately, our order was not quite right. That is a shame, because this place has a lot of potential. With better guidance and training for the young staff, the experience here could really be a lot stronger.

We made a reservation for 5:00 PM, but upon arrival, the table was still occupied. The table was supposed to be cleared after the guests had left. After sitting at a dirty table for 20 minutes, a young man finally came by and asked if we wanted to order anything else. I said that we were new guests and had already been sitting at an uncleaned, dirty table for 20 minutes. Finally, the table was cleared and cleaned, after which we had to wait a long time for our drinks. When we finally received our starter, our main course was brought immediately afterwards, which we refused because we were still eating soup. Then, just as we were about to leave at 7:30 PM, the main course arrived, which, by the way, was very expensive compared to the portion we received. We ate it quickly, paid the bill, and left immediately. We will never come here again.

The service was fine; we were served quickly. We both ordered pancakes. Unfortunately, the pancake was very thin and the taste was disappointing. Unfortunately, it is not worth repeating for us. The location is beautiful, but the food was quite disappointing.

There were a lot of waitstaff walking around; we were initially sent inside to ask for a seat, even though there were many tables available. Inside, two people said that wasn't their responsibility. After more than three minutes, we were told that a table was available. While we were waiting for the table, people wanted to pay. They were sent back (literally... they had to go back to their table) and were allowed to pay the waiter at their table. Paying after our drinks was also difficult because our waiter had been inside for a while. Walking inside wasn't possible—we had already been told that—and paying at someone else's table wasn't an option either. All of this didn't come across as very hospitable, even though it was quite quiet at that moment.

We reserved a table here three days ago, but upon arrival, it turned out it still needed to be fully set up. For our large group with children, we ordered pancakes. What followed was downright disappointing. We had to wait for more than 60 minutes, after which the pancakes were served at different times. With four small children, that is simply not a success. On top of that, one pancake was served burnt. After sending it back, we received a new one, but this one was also burnt, this time hidden on top under a thick layer of cheese. This raises serious questions about the kitchen and quality control. We even doubted whether the pancakes were properly cooked. Unfortunately, that proved to be justified: several family members suffered from stomach and intestinal problems all night. We received two pancakes and drinks on the house, but that does not compensate at all for the poor quality, the long wait, and the stomach and intestinal complaints we were left with. For the amount we eventually paid, you simply have to expect much better. For us, this was a very disappointing experience and certainly not a place we will return to.

After a walk in the woods, we thought we would have a nice dinner. Upon entering, we were shown to a table outside right in the sun. We asked for a different table, and this was resolved immediately. We felt the tables were very unstable and looked old and worn, as did the chairs; perhaps adding cushions would make them more comfortable. We ordered drinks and asked for the menu; it was just a sheet of paper that is probably reprinted every day. The cutlery didn't look very clean; it should have been served differently. The food on both menus lacked flavor, and the salad served with it consisted of 2 large pieces of dry lettuce with a few pieces of red onion and 1 piece of tomato; no dressing. The rib eye was also tasteless/bland; fortunately, I was able to season it with the herb butter that came with it. The stew was like mush, not tasty, and also bland. Was there even a chef present? The staff walking around were very young. For dessert, there wasn't much choice on the paper menu, so we paid and decided to have it elsewhere. We will certainly come back here for a walk in the woods, but not to dine anymore.

Fortunately, we did already have drinks. The lunch special was watery asparagus soup; it didn't taste like it was freshly made. The salmon sandwich was sparsely topped with one slice of salmon that was even smaller than the slice of bread. The croquette sandwich, though, was delicious. The pancakes were very good. The service was friendly, but they didn't bring water for the dogs. I will definitely come back here because it is a lovely place to sit and there are beautiful walking routes.

Great place in the middle of the beautiful forest near Dwingeloo. We ordered a toasted sandwich and a pancake. The staff is very attentive and friendly, and the level of service is high. The pancake was partly a bit burnt, but it was taken off the bill without me even asking, and we didn't have to pay for the toasted sandwich (which was very good) either. We were very pleasantly surprised by this. Highly recommended, and we will definitely be back.

My grandmother is a diabetic and had to wait an hour, while other people after us got there sooner; it is taking dangerously long.

Terrible! Schnitzel sold out. Then surf and rural or rib eye. Sold out!! Whitsun weekend!! How is this possible?

The location is nice, but the food and service are poor. We had indicated that we didn't want onion due to an allergy, yet there was onion on it anyway. After we complained, we were told that we "should indicate from now on that it was an allergy." It's not very polite to put the blame on us. We also had to wait a long time for food and drinks. It's a good thing there was nothing else nearby. It is nice that they removed the burger from the bill, but this could have ended very badly. I would take the car and go somewhere else.
