I got food poisoning last Saturday, May 30th, after eating lasagna. The lasagna didn't taste good to begin with; it was very dry and the bottom was caked with food. The other person had a different menu, but he did taste a few bites of the lasagna and he also felt nauseous—not as bad as me, but still! I mentioned it when paying the bill. I received a discount of one drink. In short, I started feeling terrible very quickly, and that lasted the entire evening and night. I was seriously ill and had a fever. It cost us two days of our vacation. So my conclusion is that the lasagna was spoiled... Terrible experience. You pay top dollar these days and then you get sick...

We ate such delicious, generously filled pancakes here, the staff were very friendly and service-oriented, and we sat in the front room with live accordion music. In short, highly recommended.

Great pancake farm. The old farmhouse has been renovated and modernized, while preserving old elements. You can sit upstairs, downstairs, or outside. The menu is also modern; pancakes and 'regular' food. All in all, a great place.

During a cycling tour, I passed by this address, which caught my eye in a positive way. I searched for De Zaagkoele on Google Maps, which led me to reviews. I was looking forward to visiting. Highly recommended!!! The mixed grill was delicious, especially the spareribs; the meat fell off the bone just by moving it. With fries and salad on the side, everything together is sufficiently filling. There is an outdoor terrace, and inside there are various types of tables and an upper floor.

We arrived without a reservation. At first, we were told there was no room for us, but the kitchen said we could sit upstairs, which was nice. We were the only ones sitting upstairs, so we didn't really experience the true restaurant atmosphere. The food was perfect; we had a charcuterie board, and the spareribs were truly top-notch. The service was impeccable; the ladies were super friendly.

A great place to eat, even with children! The kids can play in the nicely decorated cellar or in the outdoor kitchen. A coloring page serves as a placemat, and with every children's dish, a coin they can exchange at the end for a fun toy (no trash!). Young team, but certainly competent! Attentive and professional! The food for the kids was great, and our Meat Platter was super! Tender meat and enough for two people. Highly recommended!!

Restaurant with tasty food; the meat platter is certainly a good meal. A bit of everything with a hamburger, spareribs, satay, and fries. The meat is fine, but could be more tender. However, waiting for the food took more than an hour, and other customers also had to wait a very long time for theirs. Prices are also on the higher side. Dogs are welcome in this restaurant, including inside.

We finally had delicious pancakes, but we had to wait over an hour for them. The waitstaff was defensive and showed little empathy. The restaurant wasn't full; some people arrived at 5 p.m., and others were served earlier.

We had a three-course meal and absolutely EVERYTHING was delicious. From starter to dessert, from the mayonnaise to the salad. Everything was so good. Highly recommended! We had the meat platter for two. It was more than enough, and luckily we got a doggy bag. Tip: try the arretjes cake for dessert! 😍

We went for dinner on Tuesday evening, which was very quiet. We didn't have to wait long, though the service was a bit slow at times. Given how friendly the waitress was, that wasn't a problem. Possible changes (seasonal fruits) were clearly indicated on the menu, as was the presentation. The main course was tasty, not exceptional, but certainly not bad! We normally don't have dessert, but we couldn't pass up the crème brûlée and MonChou 2.0. Stupidly enough, they were also the highlights of our visit. Exceptionally delicious and well-executed! The homey atmosphere is definitely reflected in the food and the staff! It was also a modern, renovated farmhouse, with old wood and a fresh new look. It's a personal preference, but I found it very attractive and perfectly suited the atmosphere.

Had lunch during the Siepmarkt, so it was quite busy. Despite that, the service was excellent, friendly and attentive. Compliments! I had a mushroom pancake. I've never had such a delicious pancake.😋. There's more to choose from than just pancakes, by the way. I just found the drinks a bit pricey.

The spare ribs are truly fantastic. I haven't had such good ones in a long time. The meat is incredibly tender, falling off the bone. A real highlight! 10/10. The food is also beautifully presented.

Spareribs and pancakes are great! Main course salads are a bit less so, hence the 4 stars. The service takes a long time to come and help you. They just keep coming in and out and don't check to see if an order needs to be taken. Friendly service, though.

I arrived at Zaagkoele around 3 p.m., quite tired. So I was pleasantly surprised that I could still take advantage of the 12-hour offer, which offered a variety of choices. The waitress seemed cheerful, and lunch arrived fairly quickly on a comfortable lounge set. I was almost tempted to lie down for a while. The terrace was pleasantly full, and I had to restrain myself from saying anything to a couple who almost started arguing on the spot about the pancake and whether a table was clean or not... Luckily, that didn't spoil the fun, and it was 12 o'clock, and the cappuccino was delicious. A truly homely atmosphere with a well-filled plate. Compliments to the chef and the staff!! Ate here twice this holiday. 1x pancakes and 1x Dutch. Both dishes were super tasty and also sufficient. If we come to Dwingeloo again we will definitely eat here again.

Just cozy and good food and friendly service

Yesterday I accidentally ended up at De Zaagkoele in Dwingeloo. At first glance it looks like a pancake restaurant, but fortunately there is more on the menu than just that. As a starter I chose the carpaccio. The taste was good, but there was a bit too much truffle mayonnaise on it, which made it a bit overpowering. The main course – a mixed grill – more than made up for that: the meat was warm, well-prepared and full of flavour. The restaurant is quite large and clearly aimed at families with children. You can tell by the atmosphere, the sound and the type of guests. Tables are quite close together, which makes it less suitable for an intimate dinner. The service consists mainly of young employees. They are friendly, but still lack some attention for the customer; they don't look around much to see if everything is to your liking. To finish I had a special coffee with a local liqueur from Dwingeloo. Nice idea, tasty too, but unfortunately not served properly warm. In short: a great place for an informal bite, especially with children or if you are in the area. Don't expect culinary highlights or refined service, but just decent food in an accessible setting.

Beautiful restaurant in an old farm on the Brink in Dwingeloo. Tasty food and friendly service. The spare ribs in particular were very tasty and tender. It was said that if we wanted extra side dishes (salad or fries) this could be added free of charge, but there was enough. But it's nice that this was an option. Toilets are upstairs. And I think you can also sit on the terrace. We sat inside for dinner.

There was only one spot left on the floor. Despite the fact that we were a bit out of the picture, we were certainly not forgotten. Welcoming reception and prompt assistance. We had a chicken thigh satay and a steak. Both turned out delicious👌🏻Finished with a honey cake that we shared considering the more than adequate main courses. We would love to come back again!

After reading a number of reviews, expectations were high. After an enthusiastic welcome we were allowed to sit in the "veurhuus". I imagined myself in a living room of an old farm. The nostalgic look of this part of the restaurant was certainly a plus. As a starter a bread platter or as they call it here, stew with spreads. The freshly baked rolls were excellent, as was the homemade pesto. As a main course I had the mixed grill. Steak, chicken thigh and spare ribs. On the side fries and a delicious fresh salad. Every piece of meat was prepared perfectly. The steak was wonderfully tender and medium cooked. The chicken thigh was nicely marinated and juicy. And yes...the spare ribs. Man man man, this made me happy. I had the sweet variant, super tasty. And so tender that I can easily slide the meat off the ribs with the side of the knife. And then the taste... It was almost a shame to taste the salad to wash the taste of the ribs out of your mouth. The salad came with a nice refreshing slightly sour dressing. Because the starter and the main course were quite enough for me, I was more in the mood for a nice special coffee. But unfortunately it wasn't on the menu. But the hostess was not one to be taken for granted and was happy to take up the challenge to surprise me. A delicious coffee with a surprise liqueur. All in all a great experience. Didn't wait long between dishes. We don't often go out to eat, but when we do we obviously want to be spoiled. That certainly worked here. Thank you

Heerlijk gegeten in een gezellig restaurant. Het eten is ruim voldoende en gewoon erg lekker! Personeel is heel vriendelijk en attent. Ze nemen de tijd voor hun klanten. Een doggybag vragen voor eten dat over is is geen enkel probleem. Erg belangrijk dat er duurzaam met eten wordt omgegaan.

According to my son: “the best pancakes ever” we like to eat here, the grill is also very good. Staff friendly and helpful. What to color and play for the kids, food on the plate quickly and portions are sufficient. The price is also good, dinner for 2 adults and 2 children for less than 70 euros is just okay

Had zo’n zin in een lekker bord eten, kwam er een grote vieze plastic zak op een plat bord, met daarin een minuscuul stukje droge kabeljauw in een plas water. Heb de zak verwijderd ( niet te doen om daar uit te eten en wat te doen met de frieten) en ze gevraagd het vocht weg te doen. Het zou met groenten zijn? Echt onder de maat, zeker voor wat ze er voor vragen. Zeer teleurstellend!

Onze 2 eerste bezoeken waren uitstekend. Een volgend bezoek liep uit op een teleurstelling. Er stond achtergrond muziek op, nou ja achtergrond-, daarvoor was het het echt te luid. Een vraag over of dat zachter kon of liever nog "uit" kon dat alleen in een afzonderlijke ruimte binnen, terwijl het zulk mooi zomerweer was waarop een mens graag buitenzit, maar dat was niet mogelijk zonder muziek. Dit later via een contactformulier aangekaart, echter geen reactie hierop ontvangen. Jammer, waarom toch steeds meer in alle (horeca-)gelegenheden die, vaak irritante, muziek. De ambiance van in dit geval de Zaagkoele heeft dat totaal niet nodig, integendeel, het doet afbreuk aan de relaxte sfeer.

What a deception! I used to eat delicious artisanal pancakes, but now I tried them again after years, but the atmosphere is gone, just like the quality. In my opinion, I should have left the restaurant in the old style and just continued to bake delicious pancakes. Now it has to seem hip and everything is served besides pancakes. About the pancake: add fat, uncooked bacon and you're done. Duration! Maybe doable if you swallow two Rennies beforehand.
