We've had our staff outing here twice now and thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere was lovely and the food was delicious. The service was excellent and friendly.

Enjoyed the delicious food, friendly and efficient service, and cozy interior with a wood-burning stove (gentlemen's lounge). Delicious dishes, all fresh and well-seasoned. Generous portions and excellent value. An amuse-bouche, two drinks, two appetizers with bread, two main courses, a portion of sweet potato fries, two coffees, and a dessert for €92. Highly recommended for an evening of relaxed and leisurely dining.

I see a lot of reviews complaining about small portions. Then go to Van der Valk in Spier.

The food was delicious; the fish stew was well-prepared and good, but nothing special. The "reepeper" (pepper) with a spring roll filled with poultry was very tasty. One tip: eat the spring roll first, then the "reepeper." The latter has the strongest flavor.

Beautiful rustic decor and ambiance. Various menu options. The game dish we chose was delicious. The French coffee is highly recommended.

It remains a wonderful place. A beautiful terrace, a lovely separate room for a quiet dinner, and the cozy cafe and stable area for a more informal meal. Perfect all around. 🤩

Mussels served unimaginatively, otherwise good food. Service was sloppy, couldn't handle the crowd. The boss's loud friend was quite annoying.

In a word: outrageous value for money with truly stingy portions, a poor vinaigrette over six cucumber slices, less than 25 grams of salmon, and 5 crayfish, and the salmon tasted stale. Then came three overcooked pieces of sweetbreads with a tiny bit of lettuce and a small piece of bread. For these two appetizers and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, we paid €95.00.

Top-notch restaurant. We opted for the mussels and, since we're not big eaters, shared a dessert. No problem at all. Excellent in every way. The mussels were delicious, and the waitress was very friendly. It was a real treat to be there.

There were two of us and we had made reservations. The food was explained very clearly, and questions were answered effectively by various waitstaff. We are critical and understanding: if we arrive too early, we are still offered an amuse-bouche and have to wait a bit. The food was surprisingly good, and to be fair, the portions are good and not excessive. The flavors are beautifully balanced, and the price reflects that. The restaurant is neat and tidy.

We ate at Onder de Eien tonight on recommendation. Portions weren't large, and you had to pay extra for everything, like €4 for a small portion of fries. We told the waiter that a caterpillar had crawled out of our salad. Response: "Would you like another salad?" Well, we didn't want that! When we paid, we told him again that a caterpillar had crawled into the salad. Response: "We do our best, but it happens; we have our own vegetable garden." Without compensation or an apology, we had to pay the entire bill. A bizarre moment. Not to be repeated!

We had a wonderful meal. We started with a drink in the garden and, as it got a bit colder, enjoyed dinner indoors in the men's lounge. The slightly older waitress, as mentioned earlier, is indeed a bit strange in her manner, but that didn't detract from the delicious food and pleasant evening.

The food was tasty, but the portions weren't large. If we hadn't ordered a starter, we wouldn't have had enough. The food was pricey enough, but you have to pay a hefty extra for fries. Side dishes are usually included in your meal. When we politely inquired about this, we were treated very rudely. It took a very long time for our order to be taken and for us to be served. Tip for the service: when you serve something to one table, clear it out or take another table's order on the way back. There were a lot of empty runs to and from the terrace. Expectations were high, the website was promising, but we wouldn't go again.

Cozy restaurant, really hospitable, delicious dishes and nice wine. Truly culinary, wonderful flavors, beautiful quality, highly recommended. Price quality is excellent. We would love to come back again.

The garden is nice, and the kids can play. We had a great experience.. the service can improve but the food….. that was really great!!. Lot of nice flavors and combinations. I hope to come in the area, just to enjoy a meal in this restaurant again. We definitely recommend the place.!

There is no denying the location is beautiful. We were lucky with the nice weather and could eat outside in the cozy garden. Unfortunately, that was the positive side of the evening. The proudly presented menu mentioned regional products. We had the lamb and the local pig. Unfortunately, both had seen better days. The leg of lamb was buried under a greasy sauce and the pork chop was camouflaged with an unappetizing layer of breadcrumbs. There were no vegetables from the garden to be found, a small badly washed bowl of lettuce, indeed sand, was ours. Let's just say it was an off day for the kitchen.....

It is always excellent at Onder de Eiken. Good food, good service and a more than excellent wine list.

Dit restaurant heeft niet zo grote kaart, maar wat zij aanbieden is van goede kwaliteit tegen schappelijke prijzen. Ook een begeleidende wijn was zeer goed en uitstekend gecombineerd met het gerecht. Ga je naar Dwingeloo zeker een aanrader.

We had dinner here with our group of friends. Reception a bit chilly; We unsuspectingly entered the left door into the hall, the owner walked quickly and slightly indignantly towards us and made it clear that this was not the intention. Once through the right door we were shown to our table, because the restaurant has several rooms we didn't immediately know where to go. A bit difficult. So much for the somewhat rough beginning. The food and wine are excellent, the service by a young man is friendly and smooth. However, he no longer knows exactly who ordered what. Of course, that's not possible in a decent restaurant. But, the friendly and prompt service and the excellent quality of the food make up for a lot. Afterwards the owner came to our table to talk for a while and she was much more relaxed than when we entered. Five stars would have been achievable if the reception had been a little friendlier.

Beautiful surroundings and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We had dinner with four people on Saturday evening and all dishes were served promptly. A location for us to come back to again. The dishes were surprising for three vegetarian main courses. Six months later we visited this restaurant again. Portions were smaller compared to last time. The staff also deserves management. I learned in my catering training that you should never reach over the guest, put down hot plates and not indicate an explanation of the dish that has been ordered.

Delicious food. More luxurious restaurant than we are used to, but the prices were not too bad. Nice that they grow a lot themselves in the vegetable garden and meat comes from their own pigs (it was very tasty). The game was also certainly popular. Gluten free was also no problem, everything could be adjusted. Waiter was a bit stiff in our opinion.

Very tasty. Tip if you like a casual atmosphere: ask for a seat in the café area, which is more relaxed than the more formal men's room. Surprising flavors, really enjoyed the menu.

Nice restaurant, delicious food. The smoked trout was particularly tasty. The venison steak and venison stew were also very tasty. Service is more than excellent, I haven't had such good service in a long time. The Randstad can learn something from this! There are three rooms, upon entering (side door) the first room is not very cozy, but we were able to sit in the second room on the elevation. It was very pleasant there. All in all an excellent experience, definitely recommended for a delicious meal here in the evening!

We were here last Saturday, September 14, for a private party. The couple forgot to let me know that I eat vegan. When I asked the staff this was no problem at all. The cook prepared a delicious gnocci for me! It was really tasty and well prepared. My compliments for the chef's flexibility. Perhaps not unusual for this location, but for me as a vegan it is! I don't experience this often. My compliments also to the other staff! They were very hospitable, friendly helpful. Unfortunately I didn't take a photo of the food...

Expected better. The sirloin steak was impossible to cut, and you almost fell through the 1000 year old chairs, which should have been thrown in the trash a long time ago.

Helaas, viel bitter tegen. Veel klanten, binnen en buiten, weinig personeel: organiseer dat anders. Eten: goed, maar die "salade" bleek (ook bij navraag) een kommetje van 5 cm doorsnede te zijn voor 3 personen. Een lepel zou handig zijn bij de (op zich prima) wildragout. Eindeloos gewacht op 2 decafé, en tot 2x toe een foute (veel te hoge) rekening gepresenteerd. Aardige jongen, deed zijn best.

Onder de Eiken, Na alle positieve recensies begon ik te twijfelen aan mijn eigen smaak. Was de reguliere kok soms afwezig, of was hij die dag minder gemotiveerd? We zullen het nooit weten. Wat ik wel weet, is dat wij het ‘matig’ vonden. Het is natuurlijk geen sterrenrestaurant, maar het moet toch mogelijk zijn om gerechten meer smaak en de juiste garing mee te geven. Gelukkig zijn wij geen grote eters, dus voor ons was het voldoende. Maar voor iemand met grote trek na een fikse wandeling is het te karig. Enfin, het personeel is vriendelijk en de locatie leuk. Neem zelf de proef op de som; misschien heb je meer geluk dan wij.

We had a delicious meal here. The dishes were all tasty, the service friendly and the atmosphere cozy. We also really liked that there was a corner for the children to play games and color while we could continue to enjoy the delicious food!

We had dinner here on June 5, 2015. In fact, spontaneously and without a reservation. Fortunately, we arrived on time because the dining room filled up during the evening. By the way, it turned out that there was a second room, so no worries! We ate a tenderloin with delicious garnish and fries accompanied by a delicious Pinot Grigio rosé. We have rarely eaten such a delicious piece of meat and we enjoyed the stuffed lettuce and other added delicacies. The service by owners brother and sister was very friendly and caring. We will definitely come back!

Entering took some searching because the entrance to the restaurant on the right of the building was not immediately clear to us. Then a small hall and then it is not clear where you should be on the left or right because there are several rooms. Furthermore, we had a great meal in the robust room on the right upon entering. Has a no-nonsense appearance with lots of trinkets on the wall and wooden tables. The chairs were not comfortable for me due to a wooden edge that caused my upper leg to fall asleep over time. The food was delicious with beautiful dishes and local products. Service was friendly and prices reasonable.

We hebben er heerlijk gedineerd. Het personeel was erg gastvrij en vooral ook gezellig in de omgang. Ze hadden duidelijk plezier in hun werk. Ook hun glutenvrij aanbod was goed. Geen vies zangzaad broodje bv maar goed van smaak en kwaliteit. We komen graag nog eens terug als we weer in de buurt zijn.

Verrukkelijk gegeten. Fijne bediening goede ambiance. De keuken hield rekening met 1x een gluten dieet waarbij de kwaliteit niet onderdeed aan de andere gerechten.

Super lekker gegeten. Carpacio en warme geiten kaas als voorgerecht. Ree biefstuk en stoofpotje als hoofd gerecht. Cappuccino met huisgemaakte lekkernijen na. Bediening was netjes en vriendelijk.

Welkom geheten in de mooie tuin. Personeel super vriendelijk en vaardig in hun doen en laten tussen de mensen en tafels door. Ze weten ook goed wat er op het menu staat en welke wijnen er open staan. Er wordt een amuse geserveerd en daarmee begint het plezier van een avond heerlijk eten. Goede verse ingrediënten met pure smaken. Wij hebben enorm genoten en komen hier zeker terug.

Exclusief eten. Gerechten worden geserveerd zonder aardappelen, friet of rijst dit moet je er apart bij bestellen.

We staan in corona tijd op de camper plaats in Lhee. En dan ben je jarig. En dan is er Onderdeeiken. Goddelijk diner wordt naar de camper gebracht. In ons geval eend en ree als hoofgerecht. Vooraf zalm en geit etc. Toetje voor bij de koffie die we zelf maken. Genieten. Twee jaar later in restaurant heerlijk verwend door zeer charmante bediening. Prachtige boerderij.

Great place to enjoy a drink or a good meal. Very cosy, good drinks (including local beer) and very good food in good portions. I love the menu option for locally shot game. Friendly staff, easy parking in front and good value for money. Overall, very good experience and will definitely come back.

Heerlijk met mijn ouders gegeten. Aangenaam verrast over de herkomst en de slacht van het vlees (vraag er naar! Eigenaresse vertelt er graag over!). We hebben vooraf gehad: steak tartare, buikspek en zwezerik. Als hoofd: ragout van paddestoelen, ribeye en ossenhaas. Toetje: panna cotta en citroentaart Echt genoten. Top kwaliteit eten. Mooie locatie en super attente bediening. Wijnkaart ook op orde. Wij kozen de Marco Polo rood. Diepe volle rode wijn voor een schappelijke prijs. Echt genoten. Hier komen we terug!

Een goed restaurant met een bescheiden kaart. Geen hoogvlieger maar de prijs kwaliteit verhouding is dik in orde.

We keken er erg naar uit hier te eten. Helaas is het ons tegen gevallen, we vonden het eten niet bijzonder, personeel was verder vriendelijk. Sfeer van het restaurant was ik niet van onder de indruk, de sfeer in de ruimte van de bar leek veel fijner maar daar hebben we geen tijd door gebracht dus daar kan ik niks over zeggen.
