De Engel cafe - restaurant in Wijk 00 Wijk bij Duurstede

The food itself is fine, but we think a salad should be accompanied by a slice of bread. They don't do that at De Engel. The extremely friendly staff only brought a whole bread board with aioli and herb butter, with a correspondingly high price tag. We find that a shame, and it's not something we're used to.

A lovely restaurant in the center of Wijk bij Duurstede. You can park your motorcycle nearby. Highly recommended.

Situated at the market of Wijk with a terrace under the trees. Smooth and friendly service. We came for lunch. Delicious sandwiches. Good price/performance ratio. Recommended

We discovered this beautifully located and designed restaurant in the center by chance. Everything was perfect. The waiters were very friendly and attentive. The food was fabulous.

Nice place though, I ordered a hamburger for 17.50 and asked if I could have a fried egg on it and was immediately told that that was not possible When the sandwich was served it was on a soft white bun like you can buy in the supermarket and it had become soggy from the fat that came out of the meat The burger itself was very tasty though

Had dinner here on a sunny Friday evening with 2 people. Easy to book via the website. Initially a table inside, but later offered a table outside. Very tasty food and good service. We both eat gluten-free and they thought along with us. Top!

Simply delicious food here. Scallops with a lobster bitterballen and crayfish with a Madam Jeanette pepper sambal. My partner had the Bavette as a main course and was very happy with it. It was also very nice that evening and super friendly employees! Big thumbs up!!

Have had a delicious meal twice already. Both meals were delicious and my table companions also enjoyed them both times. The atmosphere is typically Dutch, relaxed. We will definitely come back.

Nice place, good food. Lunch was served super quickly. Large portions and, in my opinion, excellent value for money. However, I didn't find the staff friendly at all. I think this girl serving had her preferences per table, she couldn't even crack a smile. That could be worked on...

We hebben hier met 4 koppels heerlijk gegeten waarbij de prijs/kwaliteitverhouding helemaal klopte. Bovendien heeft dit restaurant een geweldig team in de keuken en bediening.

We had an amazing lunch at De engel. We tried the burgers and backed Salmon with asparagus 😍

Quick lunch on the terrace was surprisingly tasty. We had the Lunch Board (Asparagus soup, country bread, prawn skewer with Japanese mayonnaise, Caesar salad) and the Asparagus Ravioli (with Dutch asparagus, green asparagus, poached egg, Parmesan cheese, pine nuts and parsley sauce and fries). Both surprisingly tasty and affordable.

It's always nice to put on the Engel when I'm in the neighborhood.

Based on the website I had higher expectations. I thought it was too dark inside. We were helped by an intern I suspect who was not well informed about the menu and wine list. The other staff members seemed much more professional. The food was sufficient and the chardonnay excellent.

Het viel een beetje tegen naar verhouding wat er voor betaald moet worden. De koffie compleet was wel goed. De bediening was vriendelijk. Ze hebben hier wel brand up op de tap.

Waar ik vorig jaar een heerlijke eerste date had met mn huidige vrouw ben ik nu van tafel gegaan na 2 happen.. De sateh was veel te pittig en de burger was een halfrauw broodje bal met weinig smaak. Erg jammer als je viert dat je een jaar samen bent.

Truly a place where you can relax and enjoy people watching at the market in Wijk, my hometown for 21 years During the corona time you can pick up delicious homemade pea soup at this picturesque restaurant! In the summer it rightly has the largest terrace in Wijk bij Duurstede. Today we sat on the terrace again. The weather just allowed that. The rain came later, but the enjoyment of a good latte with a cookie was excellent! Came by again and once again enjoyed the atmosphere and the drinks. Just a good place to meet while enjoying a drink and a snack! Always the cozy center cafe of Wijk bij Duurstede. A household name!

Good wines, and excellent service. My favorite dessert with its own twist was also on the menu. Recommended for people who have not been yet.

Gezellig café-restaurant in het centrum gelegen. De ossestaartsoep was matig van smaak. Uitstekende bediening.

Heerlijk gegeten, voldoende q portie,toetje framboos super lekker. Wij hadden hoge tafel dat is voor een 80+ iets lastiger.

Terras is gezellige plek op de markt ,lunch was goed maar diner viel tegen. Personeel kortaf niet echt vriendelijk .

Heel Smakelijk vegetarisch gegeten, fijne bediening.

Gezellig terras midden in centrum Wijk bij duurstede. Snelle en vriendelijke bediening. Fijne sfeer! De nacho's zijn niet bijzonder. De dips lijken uit een potje te komen Maar de kaas is goddelijk en de notenmix was echt lekker. Cocktails ook zeker een aanrader!!

Aanrader. Prima plek voor lekkere koffie met appelgebak. Héél vriendelijke medewerkers! Ook een groot voordeel is dat je al vroeg terecht kunt.

Wij hebben mee gedaan met trappen en happen, wij hadden heerlijk soepje, tevens vermelden dat de bediening super vriendelijk is.

Prima café met restaurant mogelijkheden, simpele kaart, maar de gerechten zijn wel gewoon lekker. Vlees heerlijk gebakken, vega gerecht was ook goed te doen. De halve liters Erdinger natuurlijk heerlijk 😋.

Das Essen selber war sehr schmackhaft und reichlich. Die Ochenschwanzbouillon sehr gut abgeschmeckt. Der Bauchspeck reichlich. Auch der Chicken ceasar salade hat super geschmeckt. Auch das Dessert war herrlich, nicht zu süss. Leider gibt es einen Punkt Abzug für die Bedienung. Die Dame war eine Katatrophe. Zuerst mal gab es nicht einmal ein Lächeln. Im Gegenteil. Man sah ihr schon von weitem an, dass Sie absolut nicht motiviert war. Dann machte Sie auch einige Fehler. Wir bestellen 1 Flasche Wein, gebracht wurden 2 Gläser. Wir wollten, einige Zeit nach dem Hauptgang die Dessertkarte, wir bekamen die Rechnung. Vom Dessert wurden dann, anstelle von 1 gleich 2 gebracht. Es gab nie eine Entschuldigung oder irgend ein Wort. Kein Nachfragen, ob das Essen gut war. Nichts. Nur Schlechte Laune.

Vorige week hier gedineerd. De scholfilet was erg lekker mede door de verse groenten die erbij geserveerd werden. Gezellige sfeer, leuke en informatieve teksten op de muur. Alles was top.

Prima eten, maar er mag wat rekening gehouden worden met kinderen. Voor ons zoontje wilde we slechts een omelet zonder iets en niet de bieren omelet met alles erop en eraan want dat lust hij niet. Voor 2-3 geklutste eitjes moesten we de volle mep betalen! €11,50… Ik heb aangegeven dat ik dat wel erg prijzig vond en dat ze best wat van de prijs af konden halen. Antwoord: “tja dat is nu eenmaal de prijs van een omelet en we hebben niet iets voor kinderen”. zucht

Prima plekje op de markt voor een drankje en/of hapje.

Kwalitatief prima eten. Ambiance gemoedelijk. Prima bediening en de hond was ook welkom.

Stopped by for dinner with the family. The food was of good quality for the prices charged and in combination with the pleasant and attentive service it was a very enjoyable experience. Definitely a place to return to.
