De Goede Gooier in Blaricum

It was almost unbelievable. I am still thinking about last night. How is it possible that a restaurant presenting itself at this level has such a bad kitchen? I had ordered the halibut fillet (flétan) as a main course. The fish was completely tasteless. Served with it were vegetables, peas, two pieces of cauliflower, and two potato cakes, which were actually extremely salty. It almost seemed as if you had to mix all the ingredients together just to achieve any sort of balance in flavor. I hadn't expected an exceptional or special dish, but rather a flavor that would be at least good and acceptable. With something as simple as a bit of lemon and some fresh herbs, they could have given this dish much more meaning and flavor and made the evening more pleasant for a guest. What I ultimately received was a messy and rather ordinary-looking plate, where the presentation actually already showed that the flavors were not well balanced: far too salty on one side and completely bland on the other. By the end of the meal, I mainly felt that I hadn't missed a thing until last night by never having eaten this dish from this restaurant before. I also felt that the atmosphere inside didn't fit a restaurant that presents itself with a menu in the mid- to high-end segment. In my opinion, it was far too busy and noisy. It gave the impression of a run-of-the-mill restaurant. At times, you almost had to guess exactly what the waiter was talking about while he was speaking to you. I should mention, however, that I was there in the middle of the week. What I found perhaps even more striking was the service during the meal. Not a single staff member came by in between courses to simply ask if everything was to our liking or if anything was missing that could possibly be resolved. Even in much simpler restaurants, that is a normal way of working. I went here on the recommendation of several friends. But to be honest, I won't be coming back. The combination of the food, the atmosphere, and the service left me with no positive impression or memory whatsoever. You might find my feedback too critical or too extensive, but this is genuinely how I experienced it. Based on the quality of the food, the ambiance, and the service, I absolutely cannot recommend this restaurant.

An evening out for dinner in the Gooi, and it was certainly an experience. Let me start with something positive: the service was excellent. Attentive, friendly, and professional. And given the prices on the menu, to be honest, that could almost be considered a basic amenity. The food itself was fine, but not at the level the bill tries to convince you of. Several times I thought: I would serve this just as well at home, and probably better. Only without the little tower of greens, the artistic smear of sauce, and the explanation as if a culinary wonder had just been served. The price-quality ratio was therefore somewhat difficult to determine. Perhaps it was hidden somewhere between the cloakroom and the valet parking. The clientele made a lot clear. A lot of Laren and Blaricum at its best: clothing that was visibly expensive but, strangely enough, didn't necessarily improve things, makeup that was clearly not afraid to be present, and here and there a pair of injected lips that made you mainly admire how much optimism apparently still exists in the cosmetic industry. Being seen sometimes seemed at least as important as good food. And perhaps that is simply the business model. Here, you don't just pay for what is on your plate, but primarily for the reassuring knowledge that the table next to you paid at least just as much. Fine service, pleasant evening, food acceptable. But for these amounts, I actually expect that when I get home, I won't think: tomorrow I'll just make this better myself.

Mediocre experience. Not a culinary masterpiece. The foie gras was simply prepared, and the rest of the dishes failed to surprise either. The tuna was somewhat what you would expect at this type of restaurant. It is lovely sitting outside, with a beautiful view. That is what you have to go there for. The staff could certainly use some hospitality training. At Van der Valk Exclusive, you eat better for less 🤷🏼‍♀️

Nice spot for a quick stopover on the road For me, Restaurant De Goede Gooier in Blaricum is primarily an ideal spot when you are on the road and want to use the restroom quickly. Due to its location on a busy traffic route, it is a convenient spot for a short stop without having to drive a long way around. What stands out immediately is how easily accessible the location is. You can park easily, walk inside, and quickly be on your way again when you are passing through. That is precisely what makes this place very practical for people who spend a lot of time on the road. The surroundings and location ensure that it is a logical stopping point during a drive through the Gooi region. Sometimes you are not necessarily looking for an elaborate destination, but simply a neat and accessible place to take a short break. You are in exactly the right place for that here. During our visit, we were able to use the facilities without any problems and were back on the road quickly. That might sound simple, but that convenience is ultimately exactly what you are looking for when you make a short stop while traveling. All in all, a great location along a busy road that is perfectly suitable when you need to use the toilet quickly. Easily accessible, practical, and hassle-free.

Truly excellent food! Brunch on the heath.

The food, staff, and ambiance are exquisite. My tip: just experience it for yourself🍴 Do keep in mind, however, that the prices are in the upper segment.

Worthless experience! Today we took a walk on the heath with our newborn son and afterwards we wanted to have lunch. Upon entering, we were immediately informed that we could only have drinks. We were directed to the corner with the lounge set even though there was a table free (for almost an hour) that remained free 5 minutes before we left, when other hikers came in and sat down there. Absolutely no customer-friendly experience! We are never going here again!!!

Average to moderate. Wanted to grab a drink after walking. They didn't have a drinks menu. Everything else was pricey. Perhaps normal for the residents there, but unnecessary to stop by for a quick drink.

Restaurant De Goede Gooier is a lovely spot with a beautiful terrace overlooking the meadow. It has that peaceful countryside feeling where you almost forget time exists, which was convenient, because at the start we had plenty of time to experience exactly that. The staff needed a bit of time to get up to speed, and it took quite a while before the food appeared... around 75 minutes. That is long enough to start forming an emotional bond with the cutlery. But to be fair, once things got going, the service improved a lot. The attention became friendly, warm and much more on point. The food itself was nice and clearly presented with care. The plates looked good, the flavours were enjoyable, and you could see effort in the presentation. Combined with the beautiful terrace location, it still turned into a pleasant experience. So, a slightly slow start, but a good recovery. Nice food, friendly service once in rhythm, and a beautiful setting for a relaxed meal, as long as you arrive with patience and perhaps no urgent plans involving the next century.

Delicious! Good value for money!

Had a delicious meal, but found the outdoor terrace a bit boring. One blonde - somewhat older lady - serving was a bit unfriendly. We have noticed this before, so we decided to report it this time. The younger girls were very friendly.

What a lovely place, beautiful view and incredibly friendly service. The food was tasty, the service very good; they gave us peace of mind and came over immediately if we wanted anything. It is, of course, nice that you can almost always park there. However, I did find the dishes to be quite pricey.

We always have a lovely evening there. Good wines and always changing and surprising chef's menus.

The food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend trying the tuna starter. The bread was served straight from the oven: warm, crispy, and incredibly tasty. This is definitely a place I would love to come back to.

We chose De Goede Gooier again to celebrate a birthday, and that turned out to be an excellent decision. We had a delicious meal, and the atmosphere and service were also great. We had various dishes, including both a 3-course chef's menu and individual dishes from the à la carte menu, and everything tasted delicious. We look forward to seeing you again!

In my opinion, the sirloin steak had far too much fat on the meat, was insufficiently seasoned, and was also overcooked. Additionally, the cutlery was not clean. It was also very noisy, making it almost impossible to have a normal conversation with the person sitting opposite you. Otherwise, the atmosphere and the location were good.

I didn't feel very welcome here. We had picked out a spot outside ourselves, and after a few minutes, a surly man asked what we wanted. There was no menu available, and one wasn't offered to us either. Because the waiter didn't come across as very friendly and kept waiting for me to say something, I just ordered a cola, even though I actually wanted to look at the menu first to see what else was on offer. Our drinks were served quite quickly, but we weren't asked if we wanted anything to eat. That would have been difficult, by the way, because there was still no menu available. The location has a nice view, but in my opinion, it has a strange atmosphere. The young man we paid the bill with was very friendly, though. For me, this visit was a one-off; a shame.

A stout, portly man asked ‘what we wanted’ upon entering. No menu, no greeting. It seemed as if he wanted to get rid of us as quickly as possible. We just ordered coffee and left again quickly. The young man who brought the order, on the other hand, was attentive and friendly. The average age was about 60+. It is a shame that such a place with a beautiful view can be ruined by a lack of foresight. We won't be coming back.

Last Friday the 4 of us ate there and it was far beneath what I was used to. Service very slow. Took long time to be served. Was irritating you only serve small bottles of sparkling water. We had to ask all the time for more. The 2 menu’s were beneath your standard, however your prices were not. I often came with my nephew, and this was absolutely last time. My coquille small portion and sole were not as usual. All in all a pity of evening and a negative experience. Wishing you well.

We had a lovely time sitting outside with a beautiful view. The terrace had its own heaters, which made it extra comfortable. The menu consists mainly of French dishes. We enjoyed a 5-course menu with refined flavors and were certainly not disappointed.

Eaten the first asparagus of the year. Well prepared and the salmon was fine. Dinner set with linen and cloth napkins. A bit fancier in terms of decor than I had expected. Nice atmosphere though. Service was good and friendly.

This time we had lunch in the beautiful dunes of Blaricum; the weather was great, allowing us to take a seat on the terrace. You really couldn't wish for a better spot. The food isn't cheap and there are plenty of grey hairs here, but the fish salad was very good. Not very special, but a lot of salad piled up and small pieces of fried fish, salmon, and scallops that were very flavorful. The staff were very nice and professional, with the exception of one gentleman. Unfortunately, one employee was apparently having an off day and happened to be serving our table.

By far the best restaurant and terrace in Laren and Blaricum. We have lived in this region for over twenty years and have tried many places during that time, but as far as we are concerned, this restaurant really stands out. The atmosphere, the quality of the food, and the overall experience are consistently top-notch here.

Wonderfully beautiful location. We sat outside in the sunshine. Beautiful view. Inside, the tables were beautifully set. Delicious food, excellent service, very nice atmosphere, and free parking. The food was delicious and well-prepared! Upon arrival, I found the service rather surly. The first three dishes were served very quickly (too quickly) one after the other. One glass of sweet white wine was chilled. It was split between the two of us after a good 10-minute wait. They apologized and promised it would be included in their bill. After 5 minutes, they finally produced another bottle. The glasses were topped up (I'd just taken two sips). The bill simply included everything. Not very stylish. I understood from the people next to us that the prices didn't all match the website. Could be better! And be more welcoming to younger people (anyone under 55).

It's always great there. And my request for a keto option was immediately addressed and perfectly handled. When I ordered a peaty whisky, the hidden bottle was immediately brought out. And it's delicious too. It's a shame we live so far away; otherwise, we'd be there every week. Now we just have to find excuses to drive to 't Gooi regularly.

We had a wonderful evening out with our parents. My father (in a wheelchair) was given a warm welcome by the staff. The food was fantastic, and we had a great laugh.

Yesterday we concluded our department outing here. Beautiful building, great atmosphere, delicious food. We started with an amuse-bouche soup with truffle, bread with aioli and butter, and delicious, crunchy rustic bread. The tuna tartare was delicious as a starter. For the main course, we had a sirloin steak with mashed vegetables and fries. For dessert, we had a cheese board. Number of points: For a restaurant like this, you expect fancy wine glasses, not the typical cafe wine glasses. I also expect freshly cut fries, not mini fries that get cold in no time. Lighting in the parking lot is a must; you had to shine your phone flashlight. Laptops in cars aren't safe these days; cars can be broken into without anyone seeing.

The food was delicious, but the service was very poor. The bread we ordered didn't arrive, and the fries we ordered didn't arrive until the rest of the food was gone. There wasn't much vegetarian food available, and ordering from the lunch menu wasn't really allowed.

A slightly pricier restaurant, but with excellent service, fast service, and very good food. The sound was also well-dampened inside. It was full and busy, but the eight of us could still hear each other clearly.

Unfortunately no longer welcome since the new manager I have been coming here with pleasure for years, but since the arrival of the new manager the atmosphere has changed completely. Today I was refused on the terrace, while there was still enough space. As a regular customer that feels downright disrespectful. No explanation, no welcome, just a blunt "no". Very disappointing how regular guests are treated now.

Great location in the Dutch countryside. It’s a nice restaurant with good quality food. A bit forgettable (posh but standard posh if that makes sense) but can’t complain much really, this is not Amsterdam. We usually go there with our dog, do a nice hike and then have dinner. Great experience.

Wonderful place. The terrace has a beautiful view of the heath and is located near various hiking trails. Good parking facilities and easy access. After a good walk we had a super tasty meal here. The menu is very nice, somewhat classically French oriented. The dishes really delicious. Well prepared and with care, good products too. The service is very friendly and the interior has a very nice atmosphere. Highly recommended to go there. And definitely do it in combination with a walk. We would love to come back.

A beautifully situated restaurant on the edge of the heath in the Gooisch Nature Reserve. Unfortunately, the service is far below par when it is busy. Sufficient staff but not very helpful let alone service-oriented. Waiting too long and still no friendly employee at the table.

Delicious menu and food! We will definitely come back. The only reason it is not 5* is the older lady who works in the service. She seemed a bit stern/unwelcoming when we walked in. We were with a dog and stroller, but we had clearly communicated this in advance and coordinated it by telephone. Younger girls in the service are super nice!

Fantastic thing! Delicious food and great service! The dishes are very good. I had the chef's menu and it was really, really good! Can't make anything more of this Simply super good! This time we sat upstairs and it is also very nicely decorated. Parking is available in front of the door. You can take the dog with you.

Een avondje uit waar we veel van verwachtten, Dat viel behoorlijk tegen. - Overvolle donkere parkeerplaats. Geparkeerd in een donker bos. -Overvolle kapstokken. -Overvolle dinerzaal. Ongelooflijk veel lawaai. Een normaal gesprek voeren was niet mogelijk. Ons tafeltje had net plaats voor 4 borden. Ons tafeltje was in een hoek gepropt. -Het hoofdgerecht bestond o.a. uit te snel en te lang gebakken vis, waardoor hij heel droog was, en smakeloos. De spinazie was flauw en papperig. ( 3 personen hadden dit gerecht) Koffie hebben we ergens anders gedronken.

Had a bit of a strange experience. So we sat on the outside terrace for almost 15 minutes between 1330 and 1347. Visitors who came after us were served promptly and efficiently. We were not helped, the staff paid no attention to us. We just left.....

Nice place with nice staff. The waiter has been working there for over 20 years and clearly still enjoys it.

4 bitterballen and 4 cheese sticks and two soft drinks 19 euros. Really ridiculous! Chaotic operation. Tent is clearly intended for a shitty audience and the common man is not welcome. And a tip, turn on the light in the toilet. It's pitch black there.

Nice location. Food is well presented however bit dissapointing. Good collection of wine but our Primitivo and Valpoli were lacking the usual depth and flavours. Starter and main course ok but not really special. Amuse was highly dissapointing. Not wanting to judge on just 1 attempt. Will try again as the place is really nice for a walk.

This place checks all the boxes. Impeccable service, excellent food and what a great atmosphere! Even though I was the only non dutch speaker at the table, everyone came to me and made sure specials were said to me in English and that my drink orders were taken in english every time. I wish every place was this accommodating to foreigners!
