De Haagsche Bier Kluis in Wijk 28 Centrum

After a dinner with former colleagues on November 16, 2018, I went back again in October 2025. The ambiance and decor of this old bank building have retained their splendor, and the clientele was young. The food was reasonable, and the service, despite speaking English, was attentive and pleasant. All dishes were tasty, but the vegetables were sparse. It was quite noisy. And the prices were reasonable. Everyone was satisfied, but next time we'll look for a slightly quieter setting; that probably depends on their age.

Nice pub for a drink and the terrace at the back is certainly cozy, but I would not recommend eating here.

The staff. Serves your drink by holding the glass by the rim. The second most deadly sin in the hospitality industry. And they served raw chicken twice, and not just to me, but to at least four other people. Serving raw chicken is truly the first most deadly sin.

It's a nice place to hang out and have a drink. The food is OK; you get the usual fries, burgers, and the usual pub fare. If you know what you're doing and want to go, it's OK.

One of the best beers I've had in The Hague in the last few days, albeit at a higher price (due to the very central location). The cheese sticks were so delicious that I ordered two. A definite top recommendation for my next visit to The Hague 👍🏻

Due to a lack of time, we settled on the lovely terrace of the Haagsche Bier Kluis for a quick lunch break. It turned out surprisingly well: a relaxing moment with delicious sandwiches. When I stepped inside, I was struck by the beautiful historic building. It was once a Jewish bank, and the kitchen is now housed in the old vault—complete with its original vault door. What an unexpected discovery!

I had the roasted chicken and a dark beer. The beers were delicious, as were the side dishes (potatoes and roasted vegetables). The chicken was unfortunately a bit dry in places, but overall, a 4 out of 5 experience.

Very mediocre, poor service. Young foreign staff who don't think along. It's a shame.

Overall, nothing special. The food was okay and the prices were high. I won't be back.

Ordered at 12 o'clock, looks good, enough bread, fried egg, cheese and croquette, some raw vegetables and mustard. Only the soup that was served with it was just colored water! Thin, watery and tasteless. Service (English speaking) reported, doesn't participate.

It wasn't bad, but we've certainly had better food and experienced more dedicated staff. It's a wonderful place to sit under shady trees and watch the hustle and bustle.

This service and place are a joke, the waiters don't even look at the customers. You have to ask for the bill, spend a lot of time looking for the customer with your eyes, and they run away before you can place your order - I strongly advise against it.

Had a really disappointing experience at this pub. My friend and I ordered beers and Bitterballen, and unfortunately we both got sick shortly after eating. We started feeling unwell not long after the meal, which makes us seriously question the food quality. The service wasn’t any better. Not very helpful or welcoming. Overall, not a place I’d return to or recommend.

Service was great!! Don’t know about the food, but good both drinks and the atmosphere. Also they have got pretty nice heating system outside.

Unfortunately not recommended. The food was disappointing and the wait staff seemed to be doing everything they could to avoid their work. The location is nice but for the atmosphere I recommend visiting the neighbors.

A staff member is puffing in front of the door when I sit on the terrace to order a cup of coffee. After having a cigarette, he walks back inside without coming back. After 25 minutes someone comes and asks if I want something to drink. Unfortunately I had to move on, so I have no idea what it tastes like here.

Gpchujang chicken bites were good, outdoor seating was pleasent and the staff was nice. Good place for a pitstop before/after Mauritshuis

dont go here, they charge more than what you had. pay attention and pay immediately was the idea but they do not want that. you can only pay after drinking where they then charge more than what you had, often €20. Rude staff, rude people talking like they want to fight or whatever. Bad place, if you go to plein every place is better than this one.

Don't eat here: I got food poisoning from a simple chicken satay. I was up all night. The service was also subpar: it was quiet on the terrace, but after waiting about 20 minutes, no one had come to us, so we went inside to place our order. The building itself is beautiful. It's a shame that this place is located there, spoiling the history and aesthetics of the building.

Tonight we had dinner with a group at the Haagsche Bier Kluis in the garden room. Don't expect an atmosphere here, you have to create it yourself (which fortunately we managed): beautiful space, that's for sure, with two enormous chandeliers that spread so much light that you thought you were at the dentist. Three fake candles on the table. Missed opportunity. The onion soup really didn't taste like anything: watery with almost raw onions in it (a stock cube alone would have done wonders!). A cold sandwich with once melted cheese on the side. Never had such a tasteless onion soup before. The opinion about the prawns was also nothing to write home about. Add about 6 lukewarm small prawns and two plain slices of bread. And that for 12 euros... The carpaccio seemed to be tasty. For main, the beetroot burger, lukewarm with lukewarm fries (17 euros). But otherwise quite okay, nothing special. The opinion of my table companions about the fried chicken was not good. Not tasty! (22.50). The fish and chips seemed to be reasonable (22.00). Service was good and pleasant. In short: the price-quality ratio is hard to find here. You don't come here for the food, but apparently for the beer.

Quite disappointed in this otherwise nice place. We had a great order of vegan fries, but when we ordered the main we were asked if we wanted salad, chips, or veggies on the side. We asked for veggies and ended up being charged an additional €7 on top of the main. We also were charged for larger beers than we ordered. The restaurant said the beers were an error because a staff member was new, but we were still charged the €7 on top of the main. Make sure you check your receipt.

Super bad service, takes half an hour before you can order something. People around us were also complaining. Left immediately after drink, didn't even feel like ordering anything here. Went to the neighbors! And what a moodless lighting above the table. Time for new staff!

Food was tasteless, no effort put in the flavors. The same applies for the service which was rude with no table cleanup and zero flexibility in answering our questions regarding better service (all answers were a direct no, despite the place being empty). Servers were glaring, not a single smile. The music could have been better if they would have read the room and customers. Nice ambiance but ruined by poor service from untrained staff who clearly do not care or know anything about customer service even though we ordered a lot, contributing to their income in an otherwise quiet evening.

It is good I am so polite that I eventually, after waiting for 15 minutes to pay for our drinks, went inside to do so. But someone less patient and nice would have walked away from your terrace without paying.

hello, I ordered a "Lemon Soda" and I got a glass of I don't know what, (I believe "water with sugar" would be more palatable!!) Service absolutely very good (to justify these glasses of juice) . I suggest you a beer on tap and you will be more satisfied!! tot ziens 😊

Wonderful location for a good beer and a tasty snack

An incredibly nice and professional service. We were given very good advice about the beers and in happy our it was also worth it in terms of price. There is also gluten-free beer. Otherwise it's a little more expensive, but the friendly service means we'll be happy to come back!

I don't like coming here. The service is substandard, with staff making it clear that you are not welcome, and making no attempt to make you feel welcome. The prices are outrageous, especially if there is no service in return.

It's a very salty salad. Despite the saltiness, it's a delicious grilled vegetable salad. The grilled chicken is on the bland side. The atmosphere in the store is nice. It's also a good choice for a group trip abroad!

Great to have a drink here. The terrace was very quiet, so we sat here. Heaters were on so that was nice for the warmth. There were also 3 blankets on the terrace.

Guards feel like they're in charge. Very racist door policy here. As an immigrant, you don't even have to try because the security will come up with an excuse not to let you in!

I was exposed to the smell of poop all afternoon and evening, which is really not normal anymore. It looked like an open sewer when you were standing next to it and this was certainly not the first time. If you go to the toilet, you will need CPR afterwards. There was another dinner planned there that afternoon/evening, but my appetite was nowhere to be found. So if you are on a diet, I would definitely go here because you won't be able to get a bite down your throat.

Het is wat duur aan het worden en ik kwam er zeker 2x per week. Door de behoorlijk gestegen prijzen zal dat minder worden jammer want is het is goed vertoeven binnen en op het terras.

Gezellig café. Goede wijn en een lekker glas Hertogh Jan. Voor groepen ook een leuke buitenruimte aan de achterzijde.

Gastvrij vriendelijk personeel. Helaas was de kip te rauw bij de poten. Flamkuchen erg lekker. Geen hoogstaand eten, wel prima eten voor bij een drankje.

Mooie omgeving kaasfondue de kaas was iets te dik werdt netjes verbeterd. Als je wat ingrediënten bij wil bestellen krijg je niet wat je vraagt..Er werdt gezecht dat kost 250. Ja dat moet gewoon gratis zijn beetje aardappels en champignons kost toch niet zo veel moeite.Capucino kan wat heter was lauw. Misschien ben ik een zeurpiet maar dit waren de conclusies. Personeel is aardig.

A few stairs without a railing makes the entry to this place. Nice place with a good vibe. Plenty of beers but not for the beer aficionado.

Gegeten in de synagoge van de Kluis. Erg mooi en lekker gegeten.

Terras op het Plein. Prettige bediening. 12 uurtje smaakte prima.

Heerlijk relaxed gegeten, zeer leuke vriendelijke bediening, ga zeker nog eens terug.
