De Herberg in Binnenstad

We just stopped there because they'd installed a conservatory on the terrace for the winter. It looked so inviting that we felt like having a coffee. And because we liked it so much, we went back for lunch after our city walk. The food was simply delicious in a very pleasant setting. This time we sat inside, and the decor is simply superb. Highly recommended.

Everything was fine until the main course was finished. After that, no more service. I had to get up myself after over 15 minutes to get the dessert menu. Then another 15 minutes of waiting, about to pay without dessert. Then I was finally able to place my order. Blondie, a brownie with white chocolate. I didn't see or taste any chocolate; it was a dry nut cake, not even worthy of the word blondie. The main course was okay: Asian chicken, chicken with yogurt sauce—not bad, but not Asian.

Only very very surprised about the price of still water a bottle of 0.75 l for 7.50 euros.

Good and cheap food. The service is often a bit slow due to crowds and atmosphere cheap but cozy For lunch better food than for dinner, I personally think. The pancakes are delicious

A superb restaurant with an extensive and carefully selected menu. The drink selection is also well worth a visit. Hospitality and expertise are paramount here. Located in the picturesque Zeeland capital of Middelburg, with its rich history, the customer is truly king here. Atmospheric ambiance and decor. Reasonable pricing. All of this makes this highly acclaimed venue an absolute must-visit.

Surprisingly cozy restaurant! We sat upstairs in a student-style restaurant. The service was pleasant and the price/quality ratio was excellent.

After about 15 minutes of waiting, we were allowed to order our drinks. After another 30 minutes, we left because we received no service and weren't even informed of anything. If you can offer drinks, you can probably expect to be able to order food. The staff kept staring at us, and yet there was no way to order.

Nice location, but the service is very chaotic, and everyone is just doing their own thing. They should really each have their own section. One outside, one inside, and one upstairs. We had lunch on the terrace. The menu, which wasn't as standard as we're used to, made us choose to eat here. The service was friendly and fast. It seemed to us that they didn't all have the same amount of experience in the restaurant industry, but that wasn't a problem. The food tasted great, though.

The food arrived far too quickly to have been freshly prepared. My table companion had spicy chicken, which was okay, but a serving spoon for the rice was missing. My spicy mackerel was very mediocre, a muddy mess (also very dark inside), and the naan was stale, tough, and partially burnt. The fly was awful (unsanitary), and the mess was everywhere.

The food was fantastic! It was great that there were so many vegan and vegan options, all very affordable. The staff were friendly and the location was great. I would definitely recommend it to everyone!

The food was delicious! It was also lovely to sit on the terrace with a few drinks. However, the staff never asked if we wanted anything else, even though our glasses were empty. This is definitely something we could improve on.

We ate inside on the first floor with super friendly service. All the staff is attentive, works hard and pays attention to the guests. The atmosphere is very cozy and reminds us a bit of an inn 😉. The food is delicious. We will definitely come back when we are in Middelburg again. Price quality ratio is in balance.

Good beer, indoor and outdoor seating. Only saw the food, but it looked good. Cozy and relaxed, service sometimes takes a while, sometimes not, depending on the time of day. Would go again. Minus point: the toilet downstairs has been broken for days.

Une belle terrasse toute fleurie , une deco très sympas avec des plats succulents à un tarif correct … Quoi demandez plus 🤔😉 N’hésitez pas à y vous arrêter pour vous restaurer . Nous avions pris le maquereau épicé sur du pain turc et croquettes de bœuf et fromage. Le mixte est possible 😉

Met zijn 2en gegeten. Had een uitsmijter besteld van 3 eieren. Kreeg 2 droge normale boterhammen met 3 eieren erop. Geen boter, geen salade niks erbij. Had op zijn minst boter verwacht. Later tot 2 keer toe aangegeven. Personeel bleek het niet echt te intresseren. Een grietje zei dat we dat nog wel hadden kunnen vragen. Maar het bedienend personeel leek niet echt mensen in de gaten te houden. Dus dat hat lang geduurd.

During our visit to Middelburg we ended up at De Herberg and I decided to try the Roti chicken on a Turkish sandwich. What a flavor explosion! Perfectly seasoned, deliciously juicy and served on a delicious fresh bun. Truly finger licking good. If you're here, don't hesitate and go for this one! You won't regret it!

We went for dinner with a group of 14 people, we had made reservations in advance. I became ill and unable to go; was still allowed to pay 45 euros... now I am an entrepreneur myself and understand that cancellations are terrible in the end, but for a group of 14 people; I'm sorry, I find it really scandalous and incredibly unsympathetic!

Cozy cafe in Middelburg. Original decor and very good food. Drinks prices are quite high. Unfortunately the staff was very slow on the last visit.

The inn. Where do I start. First of all when my boyfriend and I entered a glass cabinet I felt like a beloved tropical plant. The food was there in no time! Ladies and gentlemen, when I tell you how this sandwich changed me.. I had the roti chicken sandwich! The chicken, tender.. The bun, crispy.. The sauce, balanced everything out.. all perfectly seasoned and prepared! This sandwich changed my world and my outlook on life, with the first bite I felt like I was looking my first summer love in the eyes again, if this sandwich was a man and asked for my number in front of my boyfriend I would hug him.. I knew for sure this is a high you don't get rid of quickly.. The warm apple juice with ginger and cinnamon felt like a loving hug from my mother.. the forest mushroom soup felt like I was taking a nap on sun heated grass!!!! no joke... and don't get me started on that sandwich (again) that carrot cake with whipped cream.. BANGING!!! This case may make me obese.. thanks for reading everyone, if I made any spelling mistakes it's because I'm still on that high.. peace out and eat on #phoenixsquad

Als we hier net zitten komt een "vriendelijke" medewerker even fijntjes mededelen dat we ergens anders moeten gaan zitten, omdat hij de tafel heeft beloofd aan 4 dames die binnen zitten. Of we even weg willen gaan van deze tafel en dat we anders wel op de hoge krukken kunnen gaan zitten. Bedankt voor deze instructie. We gaan zeker ergens anders zitten maar niet in deze herberg. Dit was zeker niet de eerste keer dat we hier kwamen maar zeker wel de laatste keer. Vriendelijk kost bij sommige gelegenheden toch blijkbaar wel iets.

"Would you like to go away for a moment?", literal words. Just as we are sitting here, a "friendly" employee politely informs us that we should sit somewhere else, because he has promised the table to 4 ladies sitting inside. Whether we want to step away from this table for a while and otherwise we can sit on the high stools. Thanks for this instruction. We will definitely stay somewhere else, but not in this inn. This was certainly not the first time we came here, but certainly the last time. Apparently kindness does come at a cost on some occasions.

Afgelopen weekend waren we in Middelburg ( leuke stad) en hebben we hier geluncht. De herberg heeft een huiselijke uitstraling en het personeel doet hun best en alles voelt als heel gezellig aan. De kaart is niet groot maar heeft toch wel voor elk wat wils, dus ook qua vega. Mijn partner nam falafel op naanbrood , met tzaziki en hummus , ze was heel tevreden. Ikzelf had roti kip op Turks brood, lekker hoor met grote stukken kipdijfilets , lekkere kerrie mayonaise, een eitje etc.

We come here more often, because the Herberg is simply a nice place! Cozy, atmospheric, and with Middelburg Winterstad you sit comfortably in the greenhouse like a plant. Very important to us: they have delicious coffee! :) Furthermore, the menu is not very extensive, but that is positive. There are many vegetarian options to which you can add meat, for example. Quality takes precedence over quantity here. And I like that.

Very nice tent, especially the top floor is very cute. The only disadvantage is that you see the controls a lot less. So take every opportunity when they get to the top floor. For the rest, really tasty food, nice that there are also vegetarian options.

Lovely and cozy spot under the awning and parasols. The service was very friendly and helpful. There were three of us and we ordered 2 portions of meat croquettes and I had the vegan variant. This was delicious with 2 tasty sandwiches, a tasty salad and a delicious mustard sauce. The only downside is that smoking is allowed. For the rest, highly recommended!

We went here for dinner on a rainy lunchtime in Middelburg. De Herberg is very comfortably furnished, like a rustic living room with a bit of a “used look”. :-) What I particularly liked is that there are some vegan and vegetarian dishes. The pancakes were delicious, I had the vegan kofta which was also very tasty (with spicy harissa sauce in a delicious bread), my wife had the vegan croquettes. The service was also friendly and quick.

We celebrated our daughter's birthday here with a large group of friends...it was great! A delicious selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes and a large selection of drinks... our daughter was happy and then there was the birthday surprise with fireworks🤩... will definitely be back😂
