It's always a pleasure to dine at IL Senso. The variety of dishes is impressive, with something for everyone. A definite plus, in my opinion, is that you can order smaller portions of any menu. We love coming here.

Delicious food (bruschetta, salad, pizza quadro stazioni, gelato) in a cozy restaurant with friendly, spontaneous staff. The price is reasonable.

The gluten-free pizzas are delicious. It does cost an extra €5, and you can only order the large version. That wasn't a problem for me.

Table for two people served quickly at 2 p.m. and very good meal! If you are a fan of spaghetti Carbonara, don't hesitate, it's amazing! Lasagna is also very good. I recommend it 100%. We will be back.

The 35-minute wait for three pizzas was too long for me, especially since there were only a few customers. The number of servers was more than sufficient, but one still wishes they were more attentive. Customers generally don't approach the waiter to order something. The pizzas were okay, but the tuna pizza was in the oven far too long. It's a shame; the outdoor area of ​​the restaurant is really nice, but we expected more—particularly based on the reviews.

Wow.. This IS my favourite dinner spot in Middelburg. Amazing food, great and friendly service whenever I go and the atmosphere is cozy whether you're sitting outside or inside. The only star I leave off from atmosphere is because I think the place could benefit from more jazzy, relaxing style music rather than the trendy pop covers that are normally playing. Overall love Il senso and would highly recommend for a good and affordable pasta dish in Middelburg.

Nice location, but the food isn't that special. The vitello tonnato had almost no tonnato, meaning there was far too little tuna sauce in the form of a few stripes. The pizza, unfortunately, didn't have a particularly good base—neither airy nor crispy. The service was good, with no long waits, friendly, and multilingual. The outdoor seating is heated with infrared heaters.

The restaurant was very busy when we arrived; we got a table for two without a reservation or waiting time. The waiters were all very friendly and attentive, and took our orders quickly despite the restaurant being full. The noise level was fine, and we were still able to have a good conversation despite the busyness. The menu was very appealing, with appetizers available for sharing. With wine, mocktails, starters, main courses, and desserts, the prices were absolutely reasonable. We'd be happy to come back, but be sure to make a reservation :)

One of my favorite places in Middelburg. Food is always tasty. But I went there yesterday and the service was very bad. The starter arrived before the drinks. The food arrived without asking for it, while I was still finishing the starters. Felt very rushed. And after the pasta came nobody came to check on us again. I wanted to take the food home because more than half was left but in 15-20 minutes nobody came to ask if the food is okai or if we need another drink. We had to get up and go pay at the bar. If I go to eat out I expect hospitality. You don't have to camp my table but coming to check if I need a drink or if I am done with one course to bring the other is a must. And if you see I stopped eating and in 15 minutes you don't check if I might need anything else that is just bad service. I understand slow days can make you feel more lazy than usual but it takes 30 seconds to check on a table. VERY disappointed :/

Good Italian restaurant Superb outdoor terrace

The restaurant is located in a courtyard and has both an outdoor and indoor seating area. Inside, it's stylishly and comfortably furnished. The staff speaks English and is friendly. We enjoyed the pizzas very much.

Very good food at normal/fair prices. We had pizza and pasta, as well as dessert. Everything was incredibly delicious. Nice atmosphere in a quiet courtyard right in the city center. We were there with a toddler and baby, and it was super relaxed and quiet. Highly recommended!

Cozy place with good and affordable food!

The food was delicious, but the service was disappointing. The high chair confirmed with our reservation wasn't there; we had to arrange one ourselves. It took at least half an hour to order drinks. The children's food arrived quickly, but we had to wait an hour, and it only arrived after I asked because the children were getting tired. This was despite the fact that people sitting next to us arrived an hour later and received their food earlier. We arrived at 5:30 PM, they at 6:30 PM. We finally received our food at 7:15 PM. The staff were completely oblivious. Our need for drinks wasn't even asked again. Given the length of the wait, we didn't order dessert. A loss for the restaurant, thanks to the staff. It might be better when it's quieter, but we were quite disappointed. This was also because we were there to celebrate my birthday, which they knew, but didn't pay attention to. It's all in the details. It's a shame.

Finally, not a tourist trap. Really good, honest food. I only had one pizza myself, and it tasted absolutely delicious. But the food on the neighboring tables also looked very good. We're not talking about a fancy Italian restaurant, but it was still really, really good! The portions are manageable for big eaters, but I'd rather have a little and tasty than a lot and inedible! It's somewhat hidden in a courtyard.

I stopped by here during my vacation in Zeeland. My girlfriend and I reserved a table for two, and we had a delicious meal. I also thought it was a bit busier than the staff could handle at the time, which meant we had to wait a bit longer. But in the end, it was worth the wait. The staff was also very friendly and helpful, which we really appreciated. If I'm ever in the area again, we would definitely come back.

It was truly pathetic. The food arrived quickly, but they'd forgotten one plate of pasta... things happen. After 10 minutes, the second plate of pasta finally arrived, and it was wrong. After 5 minutes, the correct pasta finally arrived, but they'd simply dumped a dollop of red sauce on the previously incorrectly served pasta napoli. So we got two different kinds of pasta on one plate. Microwaved, yuck. I'll never eat here again.

A nice restaurant with great service! We had a good meal here; the pizzas and salads were delicious. The terrace is nicely designed and just the right size. I definitely recommend it if you're not in the mood for fries.

The food was mediocre. Our young waiter was very inattentive. He prioritized conversation and fun with his colleagues over his work. It wasn't until we complained that he noticed our pizzas were already ready in the kitchen. When he brought them, he finally took the soup bowls we had ordered for starters. Luckily, his colleague brought the ice cream we had ordered for dessert, otherwise it would have completely melted.

We had a wonderful meal. It was very busy, but we got our food quickly, which was great. Inexpensive, delicious food, and a great atmosphere!

Op een doordeweekse avond volledig volgeboekt dus hoge verwachtingen en die zijn uitgekomen... Ikzelf een vitello tonato en die was goed in balans met licht gezouten stokbrood en perfect vlees en verse rucola.... Daarna gegrilde gamba's met spaghetti... Vlotte bediening! En zeer vriendelijke prijzen...

Op aanraden hier gaan eten en dat was zeker geen teleurstelling. Konden lekker buiten zitten in de zon. We hebben beiden een pasta gegeten die erg smakelijk was, personeel vriendelijk dus voor ons een reden om zeker nog eens terug te gaan!

Heel erg lekker gegeten deze middag. Heerlijke voorgerechten o.a. diverse soorten brood, dipsaus en gebakken feta. Eindelijk ook eens een restaurant dat snapt dat de salade erbij ook op smaak dient te zijn als je het op een bord legt en dat dit niet alleen ter opvulling is. Hoofdgerechten waren ook zeer lekker. De geitenkaassalade was zeer royaal opgediend en heerlijke pasta scampi (zelden tot nooit zoveel scampi in de pasta gehad). Zeer ruime porties ook. Ook de desserts waren zeer naar tevredenheid. De huisgemaakte cheesecake met pistache en witte chocolade was verrukkelijk. Zeker niet onbelangrijk; vriendelijke bediening, die het ook geen probleem vond dat er rustig getafeld werd ipv dat alles maar snel achter elkaar opgediend moest. Ze vroegen dit zelf ook nog een keer. Het terras is heerlijk toeven. Je zit uit de drukte en er hangt een heerlijk relaxt sfeertje. Het is ook een erg leuk steegje waar de zaak gevestigd is. En tot slot zijn de prijzen meer dan acceptabel, gezien porties en kwaliteit. Er wordt gewerkt met verse prodcuten en dat proef je. Wij zullen een volgende keer, mits we in de buurt zijn, zeker nog een keer teruggaan!

Yesterday June 14th. Food was great service was appalling. We were seated at 16:45 and after 70 minutes we had only had some bread and 1 drink. Next to us was a large group of girls who arrived later and their orders were taken earlier. Every waitress worked hard and walked very fast except ours. Several customers in our corner, entering immediately to the right there were customers gesticulating several times but no one came. She ignored everyone or just didn't see it. At 18:20 we had finished our main course and wanted a dessert but unfortunately we didn't have the time because we had an appointment at 19:00. Paid and were asked if everything was to our liking. Said that the food was great but that it all took a very long time. The group next to us was also very noisy it would have been nice if something had been said about that, it was a nuisance for the entire restaurant

Friendly staff... Unfortunately, the food didn't impress us at all. Starter: soft-boiled shrimp, completely flavorless. Main course: Tagliatelle al Salome... finely chopped salmon, indefinably tasteless. Second main course: salmon... totally dry and greasy, and the fries were also dry.

We had two different starters and several main courses. Solid food. It was quite loud and warm inside, but outside there were heaters and blankets, which made it quieter. The pizza was okay, the pasta with prawns was especially good, and the portions were also decent.

Il senso is a hidden gem in the city centre. The atmosphere is good and everything has been thought of. There are blankets on the terrace. We had dinner here. The food was super tasty, especially the desserts. We had a sharing platter with no less than 5 cakes. We enjoyed it! Even the bill was reasonable.

It was highly recommended to us, but the pizza turned out to be a piece of tasteless cardboard and the terrace was not fresh.

Delicious pizzas, lasagna and homemade tiramisu at Il Senso. Cozy atmosphere inside (outside a quiet terrace) and friendly service. The location took some time to find, but Google Maps provided a solution.

In the meantime we ate twice, first pasta and then pizza. Service and food remain good, they also take allergies into account.

Ate here during our night in Middelburg. There was little cheese on pizza quatro formaggi and the base was thin and dry. The gorgonzola pasta barely contained any gorgonzola and was more of a child's portion. After our visit here, we stopped by the MC to get full. Perhaps this is done deliberately so that everyone eats 3 courses, but not everyone wants to sit at the table for that long and I don't think this is the intention. Price/quality and quantity not okay.

Had a delicious meal there last night with my dear friend. Excellent portions (small pizza for me and tagliatelle for my love) and friendly, professional and knowledgeable staff. The tiramisu is truly fantastic! We would love to come here again.
