An excellent pizzeria, the pizza and pasta were top-notch. The service was super friendly and it's a beautiful location, what more could you ask for.

The outdoor seating area is lovely, especially on hot days. The food (pizza and tagliatelle) was decent. The service is mostly provided by young, untrained staff, but they were attentive.

Cozy Italian restaurant. We live in the neighborhood. This is the third time we are trying Il Senso; we live close by and many acquaintances are enthusiastic about it. The service is friendly, but we don't find the food anything special. Certainly not bad, but lacking in flavor. If you like traditional Dutch cuisine and don't eat many spices, then this is probably very tasty.

We were looking for a quiet spot for a coffee break. And we found it here! Away from the shopping crowds. We accidentally stumbled upon a welcome sign for Il Senso on the Lange Viele. Peace, space, hygiene. And delicious coffee, a clean toilet, and lovely soft background music. A gem you have to know where to find. We decided to stay for dinner right away too! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

A truly recommendable location! The restaurant was very busy during our visit. Despite this, the place felt cozy (partly due to the surroundings), inviting, and you immediately felt comfortable. The location is also very convenient: a parking garage is only about 100 meters away as the crow flies, making the restaurant easily accessible without a long walk. We weren't disappointed with the food either. The various pizzas we tried were all delicious – beautifully prepared and truly impressive in flavor. The appetizers and the different types of bread also delighted us. Everything was delicious, and there was absolutely nothing to complain about. The only downside was that the server handed our food to one of our toddlers, and what had to happen, happened... Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable visit. A cozy atmosphere, a convenient location, and above all, delicious food – we'll definitely be back! 🍕😊

I usually prefer to write good comments except when we are talking about pasta. Pasta here was really overcooked! Never see that in a restaurant with an Italian name.I've asked to the kind waitress to return and she said yes without any problem...but the problem is that I received the pasta overcooked again ! I've tasted my mum's pasta and it was the same, overcooked, but my mum is less exigent. The sauce was ok. And I repeat, the waitress was really nice... and I was as well because I paid for it... So, if you like the pasta well cooked don't go there or order something else.

Wow... You walk through an underpass and come to a courtyard... and think to yourself, "Oh my goodness!" The courtyard is PACKED... All the tables are taken, and it's no different inside. We were lucky and got a table for four. The calzone was amazing! I thought the dough might be a little dry, but then I saw the garlic and herb oil on the plate... Amazing! The spaghetti Bolognese was super delicious. The price was absolutely reasonable. It seems to be a hidden gem because it's relatively off the beaten path.

Il Senso is situated on a small square with a Mediterranean feel. There is a large terrace under the trees, and the atmosphere inside is also cozy. It is always busy there. Reservations are absolutely necessary. The food is delicious. It is nice that you can also order the pizzas and pastas in small portions. The staff is young but enthusiastic and attentive. All in all, highly recommended in Middelburg.

Beautiful place. Tomato soup pure and very good. Pasta with pesto and chicken: it's a shame the pesto was cooked together with the chicken. The vegetarian option is probably better. Service is superb: you really feel like a guest. Highly recommended!

Yesterday, I ate here on the terrace with colleagues. Pleasant terrace, fine service, but tasteless food. The charcuterie board was good, but the grilled prawns were on the dry side and somewhat mealy (although the intestinal tracts were properly removed), the spaghetti al olio was bland, and the salad had a ready-made balsamic dressing and a very sweet sauce for the prawns... Not so bad that you would send it back, but not exactly enjoyable.

We had a delicious meal here! 26-06-2026 We were here during the heatwave, and it was far too hot outside to eat comfortably. Inside, however, it was perfect thanks to the nice air conditioning, allowing us to enjoy our meal at our leisure. The staff was young, but incredibly friendly and helpful. The service was fast and welcoming. We started with a tasty bread roll with various dips as an appetizer and then enjoyed a pizza and pasta. Everything tasted very good and was freshly prepared. All in all, a very pleasant experience. Definitely recommended, and we would love to come back again.

Beautiful, quiet little square with a lovely Italian restaurant, Il Senso. Enjoyed delicious focaccia followed by tagliatelle with pesto and shrimp. Super tasty and very generously filled. A nice spot on hot days because they have air conditioning inside while it was 30 degrees outside.

A beautifully decorated pizzeria, tucked away behind a doorway. We chose it because they offer gluten-free pizza. The service was friendly and attentive, and the pizza tasted wonderful, but there was a catch. They charge an extra €5 for a gluten-free base. I know perfectly well that gluten-free products are more expensive, but I found the surcharge a bit excessive, which is why I'm not giving it the full five stars. All in all, we had a very tasty lunch in a pleasant atmosphere. The restroom was also clean!

We spontaneously decided to go there for lunch. We had the carbonara, the bolognese, and a children's meal. Everything was really delicious and of high quality. The drinks were also excellent: beer, rosé, and mint water. All in all, highly recommended.

The only thing we didn't like was that you only get one bill per table and can't split the amount, so one person has to pay for everything. When we asked, they said it was stated on the menu. However, if you don't speak Dutch, you can't read/know that 🤷🏼‍♀️

Tucked away just behind a busy shopping street lies this little Italian gem: IL Senso. As soon as you step inside and are served your first beer, you immediately feel like you are in Italy. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed, and authentic; exactly what you hope for at a real Italian restaurant. The food is delicious, with dishes clearly prepared with care and love. On top of that, the prices are surprisingly reasonable, making the quality even more impressive. An absolute must for anyone who loves Italian cuisine. Although I really shouldn't advertise too much... because then it will get way too crowded and this delightful secret spot will no longer be a secret!

We ate here with 7 people and a 1-year-old child. He got some toys and entertained himself well; there was a special menu for children anyway. The menu was very varied and the food was tasty. The atmosphere was the same. What struck me most was the fast service, even though it was busy at the time. We will definitely go back again 😃👍

We ordered a pizza and a salad here. Neither was convincing; the pizza had the simplest cheese, the salad was actually good, but the honey mustard dressing was white in color with no honey or mustard flavor, although after asking, it was described as the correct dressing.

The 35-minute wait for three pizzas was too long for me, especially since there were only a few customers. Wow.. This IS my favourite dinner spot in Middelburg. Amazing food, great and friendly service whenever I go and the atmosphere is cozy whether you're sitting outside or inside. The only star I leave off from atmosphere is because I think the place could benefit from more jazzy, relaxing style music rather than the trendy pop covers that are normally playing. Overall love Il senso and would highly recommend for a good and affordable pasta dish in Middelburg.

Nice location, but the food isn't that special. The vitello tonnato had almost no tonnato, meaning there was far too little tuna sauce in the form of a few stripes. The pizza, unfortunately, didn't have a particularly good base—neither airy nor crispy. The service was good, with no long waits, friendly, and multilingual. The outdoor seating is heated with infrared heaters.

The restaurant was very busy when we arrived; we got a table for two without a reservation or waiting time. The waiters were all very friendly and attentive, and took our orders quickly despite the restaurant being full. The noise level was fine, and we were still able to have a good conversation despite the busyness. The menu was very appealing, with appetizers available for sharing. With wine, mocktails, starters, main courses, and desserts, the prices were absolutely reasonable. We'd be happy to come back, but be sure to make a reservation :)

One of my favorite places in Middelburg. Food is always tasty. But I went there yesterday and the service was very bad. The starter arrived before the drinks. The food arrived without asking for it, while I was still finishing the starters. Felt very rushed. And after the pasta came nobody came to check on us again. I wanted to take the food home because more than half was left but in 15-20 minutes nobody came to ask if the food is okai or if we need another drink. We had to get up and go pay at the bar. If I go to eat out I expect hospitality. You don't have to camp my table but coming to check if I need a drink or if I am done with one course to bring the other is a must. And if you see I stopped eating and in 15 minutes you don't check if I might need anything else that is just bad service. I understand slow days can make you feel more lazy than usual but it takes 30 seconds to check on a table. VERY disappointed :/

Good Italian restaurant Superb outdoor terrace

The restaurant is located in a courtyard and has both an outdoor and indoor seating area. Inside, it's stylishly and comfortably furnished. The staff speaks English and is friendly. We enjoyed the pizzas very much.
