Very disappointing experience. Price-quality below par. Dishes are prepared in advance and you can taste it immediately. Ingredients lack flavor and are of terribly low quality. The Courteous Herald charges restaurant prices for substandard industrial kitchens in an outdated refectory. To avoid!

Very disappointed with our dinner at this restaurant. First of all, the bill is really steep compared to what's on the plate (105€ for 2 for the menu, a glass of wine per person and a bottle of water). The dishes are generally good but lack generosity and are very basic. The presentation is quite basic (e.g. a scoop of puree made with an ice cream scoop, like in the canteen). The wine came straight from the supermarket next door and was very acidic (€6 a glass though). The food was not worth the price. But the most disappointing point is the service: we are not Dutch speakers, sorry for that, but the waitress, who nevertheless did very well in English, persisted in speaking to us in Dutch during each exchange (just like the other 3 tables around us, only composed of French speakers). The waitress still seemed very young and uncomfortable so let's move on, it could be simple awkwardness or due to stress. But where this is more difficult to condone is when the plates are taken away from us while we still have food in our mouths. In addition, we had the cheese platter for dessert (for an additional €3 on the menu). This one arrives without bread even though “almond and fig bread” is advertised on the menu. We pointed this out to the waitress who simply replied "no, there is no bread" while turning on her heels to our great astonishment. Double surprise when she returned 2 minutes later with a basket of bread for the next table who had also just asked for some with their dish! We had to show the PDF menu retrieved from the restaurant's website, pointing out that the dish was accompanied by bread so that the waitress would deign to look at our plate and actually confirm that something was missing. We ended up being treated to 6 tiny slices of almond and fig bread the size of €2 coins. But at this point it was best to laugh about it. And the icing on the cake: instead of offering us a coffee to finish our meal like in most establishments, the waitress approaches and simply asks us "how do you want to pay?". OK message received, we have to leave! In short, a restaurant that looks great for really not much. Poor value for money, I would not recommend this place to my acquaintances. The welcome was in any case the big general downside of the Efteling hotel. We won't come back.

Very good food, affordable price

The food was beautifully presented and tasted good, but... we sat there for almost three hours for three courses. Plates remained on the table for a long time. Perhaps there was a shortage of staff or something, but three hours for a proper final bill could really be better.

Had a nice meal with the courteous herald. The dishes were presented very beautifully and creatively. The taste was also very nice. There was sufficient time between the different courses. Staff did their utmost to make it as pleasant as possible for everyone. We had a great time. Thanks to the whole team.

We had an early reservation and our food was ready quickly; mini burgers for the kids, a salad for my partner and steak for me. That steak (€27) was a bit disappointing; this could have been a bit softer. The children really liked the dessert. However, the pumpkin pie was a minor disappointment.

If you order the steak for €27, you expect a little more than a piece of pre-cooked steak that is warmed up under the lamp. This was indicated to the staff and the response was that this is how they prepare their dishes. Very disappointed in this tasteless mass produced food.

Depending on where you sit, there is quite a bit of noise from the play area. We are in the Efteling so it is of course normal that it is a child-friendly restaurant. The food was great with plenty of choice for vegetarians. Beautifully presented and generous portions. Friendly staff too, definitely recommended if you stay at the hotel. A bit pricey (especially the bread).

Sufficient menu choices (fish, meat, vegetarian) and a menu that changes regularly. The presentation of the dishes is original, playful and appropriate for Efteling. The staff are friendly and attentive. The quality of the dishes is mediocre; no distinct flavors, no high-quality ingredients and many dishes turned out to be different in reality than how they were indicated on the menu. Nice to have a bite to eat if you don't have too high expectations and are willing to pay (too) much money for mediocre quality.

We zijn deze week blijven overnachten in het Efteling hotel en wij zijn in dit restaurant blijven eten savonds na een fantastisch dagje park! Het is heel gezellig aangekleed alleen is het misschien net iets te donker op sommige plekjes maar voor de rest is het top! De service is echt heel erg goed ze zijn super vriendelijk en als je vragen hebt met allergieën of bepaalde vragen hebt over het eten dat ze serveren geven ze je dat en helpen ze je graag en goed verder! Het eten was super lekker en heel erg mooi geserveerd! Ik als vegetariër vroeg voor een vega burger die echt super super lekker was een van de beste burgers die ik al heb gegeten in een restaurant!! En het dessert was al helemaal top!! Zeker de ice cream sandwich die nu op de kaart aanwezig is!! Wij komen zeker terug✨🍄🥰

De hoofdgerechten waren erg goed, maar de 'cheesecake' als dessert helaas wat minder. Het was meer mousse in een hard omhulsel en heel zoet zonder specifieke smaak. Als je een fles chaudfontaine a 6,80 wil, dan moet je degene pakken die al op tafel staat en dus warm is. Dat is jammer. De service was overwegend goed, hoewel sommige drankjes lang op zich lieten wachten. Atmosfeer kan gezelliger, het is ook de ontbijtzaal en wellicht kan er 's-avonds wat andere verlichting komen.

Ok food, but too expensive for what was delivered. Out of all the dishes, we actually liked the salads the best. Otherwise, quite disappointing in terms of quality and taste. Very hurried service.

Freundliches Personal, qualitativ hochwertiges Essen. Ein märchenhaftes 3 Gänge Menu für 35€ mit Liebevollem Service. Sogar Pardoes kam jeden Abend vorbei.

Kinderpasta was zeer waterig en zag er nogal grijs uit. Niet erg smakelijk en zeer smakeloos. Surf en turf was een rare combi garnalen waren niet lekker zat een aparte smaak aan en als je de kop eraf trekt zat er vanalles in. Dan doe een lekker gebakken gepelde garnaal. En biefstuk smaakte erg naar garnaal. Saus combinatie was ook niet erg geweldig. Vitello tonato vlees was goed maar op zo een broodje was echt zonde van de smaak. Vroeger was het eten normaal nu allemaal rare dingen en combinaties. Erg jammer. Het zag er mooi uit maar daar heb je het dan mee gehad. Voor de corona periode was het eten vele malen beter. Je kon kiezen buffet of van de kaart. Waarom niet een normale kaart?

Weekend Efteling was geweldig, het hotel ook, maar het eten in dit restaurant hadden we liever overgeslagen. Het begint met twee warme flessen water die op de tafel staan op een snikhete dag. Zet die óf vlak voor aanvang van de reservering op tafel of als de gasten net zitten. Bij begin van de reservering kregen we een drankje aangeboden, daarna is er niemand meer komen vragen of we misschien nog iets zouden willen drinken. Vervolgens kwam het eten. Mijn vrouw had de kipfilet, deze was erg droog. Ik had de pasta. De pasta zag er goed uit en de groente die erin verwerkt zat was lekker knapperig, maar er zat echt geen enkele smaak aan. Ik proefde helemaal niets. Ik heb mijn vrouw nog laten proeven, ik dacht immers dat ik misschien verkouden werd en daarom niets proefde, maar het was er gewoon niet. Nog nooit heb ik een restaurant een onvoldoende beoordeeld. Als er mensen zijn die al snel genoegen nemen met eten zijn wij het wel, maar onze ervaring in dit restaurant was echt slecht, ik kan er niet meer van maken. Dus wil je een geweldig weekend Efteling zonder minpuntje om op terug te kijken, sla dit restaurant alsjeblieft over.

Als je logeert in het Efteling hotel, laat dit restaurant dan vooral links liggen en eet in een parkrestaurant. Je betaalt 25 á 30 euro voor een hoofdgerecht dat niet vers is klaargemaakt en binnen 5 minuten al wordt opgediend, de porties zijn erg klein en het smaakte ook nergens naar. De gamba's leken wel gekookt zonder enige smaak, en de biefstuk had geen peper of zout gezien. De patat was wél goed, en die was ook nodig om de maag te vullen. We hadden beter een kinderpasta (9 euro) kunnen bestellen. Dit was meer eten dan het hoofdgerecht voor de volwassenen, en hier zat meer smaak aan. De Hoffelijke Heraut probeert net even wat luxer te zijn dan de restaurants in het park, maar zolang er niet vers wordt gekookt en het eten van de warmhoudplaat komt is dit het echt niet waard. Jammer, want het personeel was wel heel vriendelijk en attent.

Eten werd vlot geserveerd, bediening was vriendelijk en behulpzaam. De kwaliteit was prima en het eten goed bereid (biefstuk), maar de kale diepriesgroente erbij vond ik te simpel voor de prijs van het hoofdgerecht. Het dessert met chocoladecake was geweldig, de yoghurtparfait in de vorm van een boom zag er leuk uit, maar was smakeloos en de bevroren peer erin was niet eetbaar. We vonden het restaurant ongezellig en kaal, tafels zonder bekleding of placemats. Maar de Eftelingfiguren die langs lopen maken het voor de kids wel weer heel leuk.

Absolut lecker! Vitello Tonnato, Steak und Schokoladen-Lava-Kuchen sollte man hier unbedingt probieren ❤️

Perfect! Eten was heerlijk, personeel was vriendelijk en gezellig. En zelfs Pardoes kwam nog even langs.

We had a 5 star meal in the bar area of the hotel. The bar staff were so helpful and bilingual. 10/10 for the steak we ordered - perfection. Great atmosphere..... didn't want to eat in the busy, more formal restaurant. Kid friendly. Would highly recommend. Harold was brilliant 👏 👌 we hope he visits Scotland soon!!

Ich war mit meinen beiden Kindern und meinem Mann im Restaurant. Ich hatte 3 gänge, die anderen a la carte. Schade, dass es keine Karte auf deutsch gab und auch der Kellner kein Deutsch gesprochen hat. Ich war froh, dass ich mit meinen paar brocken englisch etwas erreicht habe. Das Essen war sehr gut und das steak, tatsächlich das beste, das ich bisher gegessen habe. Einzig der Nachtisch für Kinder war viel zu groß. 3 Kugeln Vanilleeis mit Sahne und schoko Soße ist doch etwas groß als Nachtisch. Den Punkt Abzug gibt es allerdings nur weil es keine deutsche Karte gab und auch der Kellner kein Deutsch konnte.

We had dinner at this restaurant as part of our stay and we ordered two 3-course meals for adults. The vitello tonato and the salmon mousse were great, and tenderloin and fish were nicely prepared and we loved the dessert! The staff was very friendly and Pardoes (the Efteling mascotte) occasionally visited the dinner area to greet the children which was nice. Unfortunately the restaurant seemed a bit understaffed and the crew somewhat unattentive as we had to wait a bit before someone tended to our table. None of the staff noticed that our cutlery was collected after each course finished and thus we needed new ones for the next course. We had to ask for cutlery repeatedly.

Vriendelijk personeel, eten van hoge kwaliteit. Het interieur is ondanks de vele tekeningen en beelden een beetje kil.

Eerste avond heerlijk gegeten en vlotte bediening. Tweede avond 45 minuten moeten wachten op ons hoofdgerecht, dat is echt te lang. Kwaliteit en smaak prima en het ontbijt is goed en voldoende!

Als veganist kreeg is s'morgens een aparte plank vol lekkers (vegan gebak, cornflakes, sojamelk, avocado, broodjes, gegrilde groenten en parelcouscous etc.) Ik was aangenaam verrast hoeveel moeite er wel niet werd gedaan voor me. Voor mensen met een allergie is het geen probleem om hier te eten, het personeel is zeer behulpzaam. S'avonds hier nogmaals gegeten en opnieuw werd een gerecht aangepast zodanig dat dit veganistisch was. Ik heb genoten van de curry! Heel grote porties ;)

Lekker gegeten. Als hoofdgerecht was het voldoende. Goed te doen voor kinderen.

Personeel zeer vriendelijk en attent. Snelle bediening en ontspannen sfeer. Eten heerlijk, maar mogelijk te kleine porties voor grote eters. Patatjes krijg je in ruime porties.
