We just had lunch there. It was so terribly cold! I barely tasted what I was eating. And that was on Christmas Day! This is absolutely unacceptable in such an expensive restaurant! Never to return!!

The food is fine, no frills. The decor is charming, the service is friendly, but they're missing a few finishing touches. The attention to detail you expect at this level (short waits, handing over coats, opening the door, good oysters, remembering who ordered what, etc.) is lacking here.

My wife and I enjoyed an excellent meal over this last weekend. The food is incredible, the staff all brilliant and very fairly priced. Had a quick chat with one of the team outside after my meal and he was as lovely and genuine as his cooking. You could not ask for more, don't think about it, just go!

The appetizers, Pate en Croûte, Holsteiner Beef Tartare, and the entrées—Puree of 'La Ratte' potatoes, 25g caviar, and Bone Marrow with Mushrooms—were delicious. The steak was excellent, but we didn't need the Iberian Ham on the red mullet. A wonderful experience. We sat upstairs, allowing us to watch the kitchen. Friendly staff. Next time, we'll visit the neighboring Bistro de La Mer.

I recently had dinner at De Juwelier and it ended up being one of those meals you keep thinking about afterward. The steak tartare was the first thing to hit the table, and honestly, it was fantastic, fresh, perfectly seasoned, and just really well put together. It definitely set the bar high right from the start. For the mains, the pike perch really impressed me. Cooked just right, super delicate, and full of flavor with it's sauce, easily one of my favorite dishes of the evening. The duck didn’t quite have the same wow factor, but it was still good, just not as memorable as the rest. All in all, the combination of great food, thoughtful details, and warm service made the whole night special. I’d happily go back and would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a refined but relaxed dining experience.

The meal was exceptional. The dishes were decadent, absolutely suited to be presented to the Sun King at Versailles. They are quite generous with the white truffles or the caviar or their pours of limited release champagnes that very few have access to. The staff was friendly and kind, knowledgeable and with excellent opinions. Highly recommend the wine pairing. I had an outstanding time here as a solo dinner, but hope to be back again soon with friends and loved ones.

The service was less than expected; we were helped by an English-speaking man, champagne was poured down the drain in two glasses, plates were half-cleared, the rest was left until the next course, and we were expected to reuse cutlery for various dishes... and the ambiance was perfect. The food was good. The service during dinner was also good. They really went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. A huge disappointment afterward: the lunch cost almost 250 euros, and apparently they thought our tip wasn't enough. After paying, we didn't see anyone again and had to look for our own coats. We didn't know where they were and had to search for them without anyone helping us. And it took ages to find them...really bad. Moreover, it was cold where we were eating.

We were freezing cold because the heater was broken. We would have liked to have known this beforehand. The phone number of the reservation was known. It made the experience much less enjoyable, and honestly, for a Michelin-star restaurant, this is unacceptable. Offer a hot drink upon arrival if necessary. We only received an apology, and that was it. The service was way too much on our shoulders. They asked every five minutes if we wanted anything. When you see your guests wanting to slow down, the service staff should adjust accordingly. We didn't want to be standing outside again within an hour. We had to explicitly tell them to give us some space. The beets were freezing cold. You really don't taste as much then. I see this comment echoed in other reviews. It's a shame nothing is done about it. The duck was delicious, as was the caramelized apple. The wine we wanted wasn't available twice. It's unfortunate. They always brought an alternative, but people let you taste it! But no, it was just poured. Amazing for a Michelin-starred restaurant. We also ordered port with dessert, but boy, was it a bit meager. Literally one sip for 18 euros. Could it be a little more? We don't see the Michelin star, unfortunately.

De Juwelier is a fantastic restaurant with delicious dishes. Every dish is French, but made unique with additions like ice cream and foam. The staff is young but knowledgeable and very friendly. One thing that was a real shame about the dessert menu was that the ice cream with olive oil wasn't to our liking. We left it, but nothing was done about it. We weren't given the menu to choose a different dessert. I would have expected this from a 1-star restaurant.

Look. This is a very nice bistro style restaurant. Food is enjoyable. We had the steak tartare (small but wel made), the poached egg and the tub gurnard. All good dishes, but in my view this is not Michelin level cooking. Dishes were enjoyable but nothing really outstanding or surprising. Wine list was well constructed and not overly expensive (although not cheap).

My partner and I chose De Juwelier for our 15th anniversary dinner. The service was top-notch! They made everything possible (and even more) to make us enjoy the evening. We started with a glass of champagne, Irish oysters, and a smoked cheese souffle besides a delicious, creamy butter with bread. For appetizers - pate and beef tartare. The pate with foie gras was a work of art! The tartare with oyster was an interesting, yet delightful combination. For mains, we ordered red gurnard and seabass. Red gurnard with Iberico ham, paired with a salty, foamy sauce, resulted in a flavorful and strong dish. The seabass, served with its scales, created a perfect balance in terms of texture. The aroma of fennel complemented the fish and added freshness. Thanks to the team, the wine pairing elevated both dishes. Last but not least, the baba au rum was an inventive and interesting finish to the evening. Will definitely revisit in a random day.

The third Michelin Star Restaurant from Richard van Oostenbrugge and Thomas Groot, this one a Bistro, focuses on classics in an a la carte format where all dishes are similarly portioned for sharing thanks to a recent menu change. Located mere steps from Bistro de la Mere, bar seats leading to a staircase with tables one story above, guests will find service quickly paced but perhaps a little understaffed as a lone man tended to delivering and clearing plates for five tables while neglecting beverage service. High-priced for what is essentially French Tapas, €7 “Streetfood” inspired Souffles two bites at most, dry Reisling pairs well to starters such as lean Beef Tartare complimented by the Sea as well as a steamed “Souffle” reminiscent if Quenelle de Brochet. Impressing with Pate en Croute, a thin slice but nicely textured, confit Turbot seems unneccesarily complicated while €33 each sees Sweetbreads amidst Olives a far better proposition that a single slice of glazed Duck. Not afraid to go bold with local Lamb, wrapped for texture in a rich Sauce bolstered by Cumin, Paprika and Harissa, Sweets all come kissed by Booze with both Pecan Pie and a flaky baked Apple outpacing a Ducasse-priced Baba at roughly half the size.

We were here privately (invited) for lunch. I didn't know that this restaurant has a star and I must admit that if I hadn't been told I wouldn't know now. The food was delicious, everything on the plate is easily recognizable, very pleasant. The service is friendly, there is nothing to complain about. The decor is cozy as you would expect from a luxury bistro but for me not worthy of a star in terms of decor, although of course it is primarily about the food, but the rest wants something too. What I found a minus point at star level is that the person sitting in the corner had to hand over the plates himself. The knives, forks, etc. were very original in a beautiful ("jewel") box on the table, fragile in shape but that ensures that you eat slowly and really enjoy it. Nice that the tableware is not contemporary but from the previous century. For me definitely an address to go back to but I will then clearly agree in advance where I absolutely do not want to sit. Because I do not want to sit by the toilet, for example, I saw today.

So the restaurant looked really nice. Some really good wines. Cohesion was unfortunately not there; no communication about structure of food and wines. Dishes were good, but only the main dish was former Michelin worthy. Big mis match with red wine and desert (cake with sweet rum). We give feedback about this, they acknowledge about this they also didn’t care. If you are reading this and looking for high cuisine then trust me, there are betters for a lower or same price and much more wow factor! Expected more so that’s the reason for 3/5 stars.

Visited this establishment over Amsterdam Restaurant week for the 5 course Michelin lunch. Having dined in many Michelin starred restaurants my experience here was rather flat. Service was good, the atmosphere is cozy, however the food lacked the experience I’d expect from a starred restaurant. Some of the flavour combinations were too pungent for my palette and did not quite hit the spot for me personally.

While we had reserved for a table “upstairs”, we were placed downstairs right in front of the toilet. A heater with cold air was necessary, probably to mask the sewer smell? Several comments about setting the heater to a warmer setting or turning it off only had an effect after more insistence. The beetroot starter was mediocre in taste. The entree (duck liver) was good in itself, but the sauce that was much too salty greatly diminished the taste experience. Shame. Made a comment about this to the staff. His explanation was that the cooking in the kitchen was “highly flavoured”. A noble goal in itself, but not if the high taste is mainly salty. The main course (Tongue) was presented swimming in a sauce that was again much too salty. After my comment about this, the dish was made again, this time with the sauce separately. This sauce was again way too salty and probably came from the same badge. The sole was cooked dry and therefore not tasty... After these three disappointing experiences in a row, we left for dessert. It is incomprehensible to us that De Juwelier has received a Michelin star. The prices are already at star level, now that the food is still…

Special proposals in pure French style, in an old bistro environment with a few seats on the upper floor and a nice counter where you can eat, all well managed by the young and passionate dining room staff. Bottles on display and a glimpse of the kitchen embellish the first glance when entering the restaurant. Cucina suggests that he too is a young chef, but I could be wrong, and he can and indeed must certainly grow... but the conditions are excellent!

Highly recommended it. Lekker, lekker. Tasty, good quality, good presentation and good flavours. The combinations of ingredients are a success. As a starter I ordered 2 oysters, with a Dutch touch. Then I ordered 2 smaller dishes like the tartare and the potato purée with caviar. I liked the crunchy point on top of the tartare, and it was well seasoned. I found the purée between acidic and overly salty, but it was delicious. As a main dish I ordered the duck. It was too short for me, I could have eaten the whole duck. It was really good. To finish I chose the pecan pie for dessert.

Very bad experience at De Juwelier. We had a very uncomfortable table against a dirty curtain near the toilet. We then wanted to start with an aperitif, but we were immediately given the menu. As a starter I had the Pate, which was very tasty. I didn't think the eel in ravioli was a combination, the flavors were flat and the eel was completely missing. The Baba au Rum is a fat ball in pure alcohol. The service is absolutely not up to standard. We ordered a Grand Cru (a white) and we received it without refrigeration, so we had warm wine halfway through the evening. It's really scandalous that they have a star.

We just walked into the restaurant for lunch and got a spot at the bar, just as we had in mind- and we had a “chef’s table “ experience!😍 we started with some local amuse bouche like Dutch oysters, followed by a delicious pate en croute. As mains we chose the glazed duck - which we had seen developing the whole time- and the pike perch cake, both of which were amazingly delicious and executed! And the that we chose by the glass were all very good, too😀 All topped by a croissant filled with apple and a pekan tarte! What a treat and discovery !

Four weeks ago I had a very bad experience at this 1 star Michelin restaurant. Dishes were tasteless and served without any love for beautiful food. Starter (beetroot) came straight from the refrigerator after 1 minute (so much too cold), after the order had been placed. We had not even been able to order an accompanying wine with this dish. Dish eel in green had no taste of eel. Marrowbone dish had more mushrooms than marrow and its presentation was not impressive. Red gurnard dish: red gurnard was delicious, but the sauce was much too watery. The letdown was the veal sweetbreads, which were not crispy on the outside (as if they came straight from the microwave) and were covered in an abundant tasteless sauce. Very special: no amuse(s) and one Madeleine with coffee!! There were also plus points: nice wines and friendly service. The bill was also very strikingly negative: 437 euros for two people, this was for a four-course dinner including wine, aperitif, water and coffee with digestif. The restaurant asked for a review one day after our visit. That happened, but unfortunately we did not receive an answer from them, hence this public review.

We had an amazing lunch experience at de Juwelier, a jewel of a place, in one of the nicest streets in Amsterdam with a charming Dutch bar interior. Justus the host instantly made us feel welcome, and gave us great advice on menu choice and wines. All dishes had surprising flavours and equally tasty. We got to the place which was kind of dark and not very welcoming. They gave us a very bad table that the waiters would bump against our chairs all the time. The servers were sort of friendly but took forever to fulfill every order (even the check!) and sometimes they would even forget. We must have waited for around 25 minutes for each plate. The portions were really small and the food oversalted. All and all a bad experience. Funny thing is, this is supposed to be a michellin restaurant...

The place is quite old and not welcoming as ambiance. We were asked to sit next to toilet downstairs next to an old curtain, was quite not nice. Thought the remaining tables are booked but they were all empty until we leave. The waiter kept speaking Dutch many times also after seeing we do not speak Dutch. The wine selection is OK. Also the food menu. We have eaten quite different pieces from the menu, but none of them made me feel like I want to come back. I have been to many high end restaurants, this is not one of them.

Negative points: totally unworthy of a Michelin star, absolutely shabby interior and “limited” in terms of appearance and cleanliness, it feels like a provincial bistro in 1940. Unfriendly and minimalist service: not worthy of service attentive standard (don't expect us to refill your water, arrange your cutlery, etc.). Simplistic dishes and stingy in quantity. Tableware that looks like a dinette (low end). Prices which in the end, although they may seem correct, correspond to a very poor quality-price ratio. Honestly, the worst I've ever seen. Positive points: a pretty historic building, a menu which allows you to compose your menu as you wish, tempting products (brains or sweetbreads, langoustines, etc.), prices which do not seem excessive if you are not very hungry (and we are insensitive to the rest), service concerned about allergies.

An exceptional experience from start to finish! The chefs and waitstaff took great care of us. We were lucky to sit at the bar overlooking the kitchen, which allowed us to watch their artistry up close—an absolute treat! The dishes, especially the bone marrow, hare, and mallard, were exquisite, with each one thoughtfully paired with unique crockery that enhanced the presentation. We also asked for wine pairings, which were spot on. Truly masterful! Highly recommend this unforgettable dining experience.

I know, you’re probably tired of all the food pictures by now, but this was simply an unforgettable experience. Everything was crafted from the finest ingredients and prepared with such simplicity – oysters topped with frozen cream and frozen vinegar 🤯, salt-baked beets with mustard ice cream 💥, and grilled langoustine with lavender beurre blanc and argan oil ❤️. Paired with a bone-dry, zero-dosage, barrel-aged champagne, beautifully balanced with 50% reserve wine 🥂. This has to be my favorite restaurant in Amsterdam – and yes, I’ll definitely be back 🤩

Food is OK, all very unusual dishes, not really my thing, but that's personal. Seat a bit cramped and very hot inside. Oysters not very cold. Duck and lamb for main course were really tasty. Dessert looked nice, but had to search for the currants and apple. We didn't want oysters with garnish, so we asked if it could be done without. No problem, but just charge the price for prepared oysters (read: now EUR 7.50 per bare oyster). Asked if this could not be adjusted, but they work with “standard prices” here and was asked if I “understood this standard concept”. Agree with previous reviews about poor service (chefs are nice and nothing to complain about).

Walked by the restaurant and was so intrigued by the good smells we had to come in. We were not disappointed. The food was incredible. It was such an immersive experience sitting infront of the kitchen. We tried the artichoke, bone marrow, Mallard and sole. Loved all of it, 11/10 recommend the sole. And you have to finish with the apple tart 😍.

Had a delicious lunch with attention to the dishes, but the attention paid to the food had been forgotten to be applied to the service. This made our experience substandard. More than once we had to ask for our matching wine while the dishes had already been served and it took a long time before we could pay after dessert. We also opted for matching wines, unfortunately we had to read what we drank on the bill. For 18 Euro per glass we would have liked to be told what we would drink. Simply put, it's an experience you wouldn't expect in this restaurant, and certainly not for this price.

You can enjoy delicious food here. However, it is more of a luxurious, special bistro than a star restaurant. The staff is very friendly and approachable. However, there were too many minor flaws, such as an incorrect bill, dishes not ordered and orders that had not been received properly. It is a cozy restaurant, and a number of tables have a view of the kitchen. None of this justifies the price you ultimately pay.

Upon arrival, I was kindly shown to my table. However, after waiting 20 minutes, I still hadn't received a menu or drinks menu, so I decided to get one myself. Before dinner, I finally looked up the menu on your website. Fortunately, after several attempts, I managed to speak to someone and place an order. The food was served quickly and was delicious, but the drinks didn't arrive until after dinner. When I asked for a glass of water, it unfortunately never arrived. I ended up going to the bar a second time to get it myself. In summary: the food is fantastic and served quickly, but the staff isn't very attentive and seems understaffed. The seating was a high bar table at the top of the stairs, which wasn't very comfortable on the bar stools. Finally, there was an error at the checkout because the bill included items I hadn't ordered. Fortunately, this was quickly corrected.
