My food was tasty to very tasty; we were with a group, and for some, the dish wasn't good, which is unacceptable at this level. Duck undercooked with a piece of bone, bubba rum without syrup. Normally not a problem, but not at the level it claims to be. The service was poor; we sat at a large table with insufficient space (15 people), but that wasn't our choice. Passing food around, asking if you can have another drink, having to refill your own water glasses, etc., is simply unacceptable. And there was plenty of staff; it wasn't busy. When the manager/owner arrived, things suddenly changed, but in my opinion, it was too late. I think it's a waste of my boss's money (company outing); you can be treated better for the same price. Not bad, but certainly for this level.

The beef tartare is really delicious. I also recommend the oysters. The bread is a given. Homemade bread 🍞 is the best 👍👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻♥️🍽

De Juwelier is a cozy, informal place where you can enjoy delicious food with a very good wine selection and excellent service. We sat at the ‘Chef’s table’, so you are right up close to the preparation, and we found this to be a nice extra touch. The chefs serve your food themselves, provide explanations, and answer any questions you may have. This restaurant is now at the top of our list. Highly recommended!

We had a very pleasant dinner there the other day. We enjoyed a three-course chef’s menu accompanied by some aperitifs. Apart from a few minor issues (a fish scale in the main course and a rather dry/uninspired dessert), the overall experience was very good. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere of the place was also very pleasant.

Perhaps expectations are too high, but in a 1-star restaurant, you should expect everything to be right in terms of atmosphere and service, and at the very least that all dishes are flavorful. We had a pleasant lunch with friends, but... the music is really too loud, and there are a number of points that will prevent us from visiting De Juwelier again.

Had an incredibly special afternoon with my girlfriend. We were pampered from start to finish, and there was a lovely, cozy, relaxed Amsterdam atmosphere among the chefs. The food was delicious and flavorful; the duck and pâté are highly recommended. In short, we had a great lunch!

Not star worthy (anymore) staff was outright rude. Chefs were having very inappropriate conversations in the kitchen including calling out the potential menstruation of the youngest female team member (don’t think they realized I speak Dutch). Unheard of and we asked to be moved away from the bar. The chatter was ongoing, louder than our conversation and unprofessional. Not sure if anyone can save this place, they seem bored, food has lost its touch, kitchen was a mess, reception was off and upon departure the host even added some fuel to the fire by saying, I think we couldve gotten along but it wasnt my fault (ie. Blaming the guest for his rude reception)

We had booked a 3-course dinner at this beautiful restaurant via Heerlijk and had high expectations, especially given the Michelin star. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. Upon arrival, hardly any explanation was given regarding the dishes; there was no menu or explanation, making it all feel rather impersonal. While we were still quietly enjoying our champagne, the first course was already served. We wanted to do a wine pairing, but because everything came so quickly one after the other, that was actually no longer possible. The main course was truly delicious; there is nothing to complain about there. However, this too came much too soon after the previous course. We found the dessert unexciting, and once again, it was served almost immediately. Despite having a bottle of wine with it, we were outside again within an hour. For a restaurant with a Michelin star, we had expected much more attention, tranquility, and an experience. We really missed the service and the sense of hospitality, in particular. Ultimately, it felt more like an average restaurant around the corner than a culinary evening out at a star level.

Incredible experience! From arrival to departure, we were treated with the utmost care. The staff is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The food is amazing; we opted for the à la carte option. Bread and butter are served with no exception, and both are delicious (and when the bread and butter ran out, they refilled our supplies). I personally had the tartare with mixed salad and seaweed crackers, and the glazed duck, both amazing. A sublime experience, definitely worth repeating. Recommended!

Tend to have lunch at a sister restaurant two door down. On this occasion I had dinner with a friend. We were unlucky to be seated half a meter across from the loo, which in my opinion is a place restaurants should never use for customer seating, let alone a started restaurant. Nonetheless, the food was good but not exceptional. Riz De Veau (sweetbread) was average amd rather chewy, the mushroom bone marrow was more mushroom than bone marrow, and we skipped the main this time. We couldn't get out first choice of wine, but were happy with a good bottle of meursault as a replacement. Recommended but avoid the table across the bathroom door.

I use Restaurant Week offers to try out restaurants, and most restaurants try to impress you into coming back after Restaurant Week, but not here… the menu was far too simple for a Michelin-starred restaurant. Beetroot with mustard ice cream, pâté en croute, poached egg in compte sauce with cracklings and frisée potatoes, halibut with onion stew, and a classic baba au rum with ice cream. Was it tasty? Yes. Was it exceptional? No. I don't think I will be coming back.

We had a fine lunch at De Juwelier. We opted for the Restaurant Week menu, paired with a few glasses of wine. Unfortunately, the starter was a bit disappointing: the beets were served too cold, causing the flavors to not come into their own as well. The subsequent dishes—pâté en croûte, a poached egg, and skate wing—were, on the other hand, well prepared and flavorful. The dessert made less of an impression. It consisted of a fairly simple sponge cake with vieux, which came across as somewhat unimaginative. Of course, this could also be a matter of personal taste. All in all, a solid lunch with some strong dishes, but also clear areas for improvement. As far as we are concerned, the restaurant feels like a “0.7 star”: good, but not at the level of a full star and perhaps partly driven by the hype.

We had a fantastic meal and received excellent advice on the wines (by the glass). My 31st birthday couldn't have been better.

We had booked here for a business lunch. We informed the team that we would only have 60 minutes. Service has been outstanding as was the food. We had an excellent lunch in exactly one hour and the atmosphere remained totally relaxed throughout. Truly amazing experience. Fully recommend!

Restaurant week with a special 5-course menu for €58.00. Nice wine collection but pricey (individual glasses up to €20.00 per glass!)

The service was friendly, but that was about it. - The bread only arrived after we asked for it, after the appetizer, because it wasn't in the oven. They could have told us that beforehand. - The waiters did a good job, but they didn't make us feel welcome. - The food was good, but at this price point, I expected more of a flavor explosion. It was an experience, but we don't need to go back. There are much better options in the same price range.

One of the worst ‘fine dining’ experiences in my life. The food was 6-7/10 at best. The disrespect came in every form. From outrageous prices to terrible execution of simple dishes. The waiter also was in the worst mood I have ever personally encountered in a food establishment. He was not just unfriendly, but almost seething of some kind of anger / frustration to the point where it made me and my date uncomfortable. He forgot multiple of our orders and could not seem more annoyed everytime we attempted some small talk to clear some tension. Half the dinner was spent theorizing what we could’ve done to offend him so personally. I can find no redeeming qualities in this meal. Lastly for the price points and the one Michelin star rating, I expect the menu to have a couple of impressive standout dishes. Somehow we ordered 6 different dishes and the only one that stood out was the beef tartare for being ruined with oyster sauce. One of many people and my favorite French dishes tuned into what I can only imagine wet cat food tastes like. I have more negative things to say but I will refrain. The good parts of the experience were the ambiance and the nice waitress who seemingly noticed how rude our waiter was, and did her best to make small talk and take over the table with ordering and delivering food towards the end of our meal.

We visited for Valentine’s Day for our first Michelin-starred experience, and I have to say I left feeling quite disappointed. For the price point and the accolade, the experience was underwhelming and very much overpriced. The issues started with the menu: the website indicated a choice menu, but upon arrival, we were locked into a mandatory set menu (minimum 4 courses) without prior notice. We also requested a specific table in our reservation but were given what felt like a 'leftover' spot. The service was the biggest letdown. The team seemed disjunct and not working together. They placed butter on our table but completely forgot to bring the bread. Three different waiters made sure the empty table in front of the toilet was perfectly squared, and as a guest you got the feeling that the geometry between table and couch was more important than the guests themselves. When the first course arrived, it was brought out hastily with absolutely no explanation of the dish. We were baffled by the ‘factory feel’ and the lack of passion for the food by the staff. As for the food, while the plates were unique, they felt stingy on the high-quality ingredients (for example, a tiny dollop of foie gras on the main). I have honestly had much better 3-4 course menus elsewhere for a fraction of the price, and with a much more passionate staff. All in all, an 'okay' meal, but it lacked the attention to detail and hospitality you expect from a Michelin star. We likely won't be rushing back.

A must try amazing Michelin restaurant with innovative and delicious culinary creations. Sitting at the bar allows you to watch every dish crafted right in front of you, showcasing the chefs’ meticulous attention to detail. Each plate is assembled like a piece of art, and the food itself is absolutely spectacular.

We had a delicious à la carte lunch on Boxing Day. The dishes, especially the pike-perch, were fantastic. The wines and champagne were delicious. The staff were super friendly. The only downside was that they could somehow find a solution for the coats. Otherwise, it's excellent, just like Le Bistro de la Mer, two doors down. Same owners.

We just had lunch there. It was so terribly cold! I barely tasted what I was eating. And that was on Christmas Day! This is absolutely unacceptable in such an expensive restaurant! Never to return!!

My wife and I enjoyed an excellent meal over this last weekend. The food is incredible, the staff all brilliant and very fairly priced. Had a quick chat with one of the team outside after my meal and he was as lovely and genuine as his cooking. You could not ask for more, don't think about it, just go!

The appetizers, Pate en Croûte, Holsteiner Beef Tartare, and the entrées—Puree of 'La Ratte' potatoes, 25g caviar, and Bone Marrow with Mushrooms—were delicious. The steak was excellent, but we didn't need the Iberian Ham on the red mullet. A wonderful experience. We sat upstairs, allowing us to watch the kitchen. Friendly staff. Next time, we'll visit the neighboring Bistro de La Mer.

I recently had dinner at De Juwelier and it ended up being one of those meals you keep thinking about afterward. The steak tartare was the first thing to hit the table, and honestly, it was fantastic, fresh, perfectly seasoned, and just really well put together. It definitely set the bar high right from the start. For the mains, the pike perch really impressed me. Cooked just right, super delicate, and full of flavor with it's sauce, easily one of my favorite dishes of the evening. The duck didn’t quite have the same wow factor, but it was still good, just not as memorable as the rest. All in all, the combination of great food, thoughtful details, and warm service made the whole night special. I’d happily go back and would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a refined but relaxed dining experience.

The meal was exceptional. The dishes were decadent, absolutely suited to be presented to the Sun King at Versailles. They are quite generous with the white truffles or the caviar or their pours of limited release champagnes that very few have access to. The staff was friendly and kind, knowledgeable and with excellent opinions. Highly recommend the wine pairing. I had an outstanding time here as a solo dinner, but hope to be back again soon with friends and loved ones.

The service was less than expected; we were helped by an English-speaking man, champagne was poured down the drain in two glasses, plates were half-cleared, the rest was left until the next course, and we were expected to reuse cutlery for various dishes... and the ambiance was perfect. The food was fine, not worth a star - less salt and a bit of effort.

Truly fantastic restaurant! Everything was perfect: the service, the food, the ambiance. Great wine list too. The best place to sit is upstairs, where you can watch the kitchen at work.

The food was good. The service during dinner was also good. They really went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. A huge disappointment afterward: the lunch cost almost 250 euros, and apparently they thought our tip wasn't enough. After paying, we didn't see anyone again and had to look for our own coats. We didn't know where they were and had to search for them without anyone helping us. And it took ages to find them...really bad. Moreover, it was cold where we were eating.

We were freezing cold because the heater was broken. We would have liked to have known this beforehand. The phone number of the reservation was known. It made the experience much less enjoyable, and honestly, for a Michelin-star restaurant, this is unacceptable. Offer a hot drink upon arrival if necessary. We only received an apology, and that was it. The service was way too much on our shoulders. They asked every five minutes if we wanted anything. When you see your guests wanting to slow down, the service staff should adjust accordingly. We didn't want to be standing outside again within an hour. We had to explicitly tell them to give us some space. The beets were freezing cold. You really don't taste as much then. I see this comment echoed in other reviews. It's a shame nothing is done about it. The duck was delicious, as was the caramelized apple. The wine we wanted wasn't available twice. It's unfortunate. They always brought an alternative, but people let you taste it! But no, it was just poured. Amazing for a Michelin-starred restaurant. We also ordered port with dessert, but boy, was it a bit meager. Literally one sip for 18 euros. Could it be a little more? We don't see the Michelin star, unfortunately.

De Juwelier is a fantastic restaurant with delicious dishes. Every dish is French, but made unique with additions like ice cream and foam. The staff is young but knowledgeable and very friendly. One thing that was a real shame about the dessert menu was that the ice cream with olive oil wasn't to our liking. We left it, but nothing was done about it. We weren't given the menu to choose a different dessert. I would have expected this from a 1-star restaurant.

Look. This is a very nice bistro style restaurant. Food is enjoyable. We had the steak tartare (small but wel made), the poached egg and the tub gurnard. All good dishes, but in my view this is not Michelin level cooking. Dishes were enjoyable but nothing really outstanding or surprising. Wine list was well constructed and not overly expensive (although not cheap).

One of the finest dining experiences I’ve had in Amsterdam. Everything was exceptional, the food was outstanding. I’m surprised it isn’t rated five stars across the board. I’ll definitely return. If you love good food and good wine paired with the best service and cozy atmosphere go here!

I don't mean to be unfair, but unfortunately, there's nothing impressive about it! There are restaurants in Amsterdam that I'm much more impressed with for the same price. Also, even though it wasn't crowded, the service was slow. The only thing that made me happy was the small gesture they did for my son's birthday.

A wonderful dining experience with outstanding food and lovely staff. The duck was beautifully cooked and the dessert was amazing! It was also well prices. Highly recommend! Make sure you book though.

My partner and I chose De Juwelier for our 15th anniversary dinner. ​The service was top-notch! They made everything possible (and even more) to make us enjoy the evening. ​We started with a glass of champagne, Irish oysters, and a smoked cheese souffle besides a delicious, creamy butter with bread. ​For appetizers - pate and beef tartare. The pate with foie gras was a work of art! The tartare with oyster was an interesting, yet delightful combination. ​For mains, we ordered red gurnard and seabass. Red gurnard with Iberico ham, paired with a salty, foamy sauce, resulted in a flavorful and strong dish. The seabass, served with its scales, created a perfect balance in terms of texture. The aroma of fennel complemented the fish and added freshness. Thanks to the team, the wine pairing elevated both dishes. ​Last but not least, the baba au rum was an inventive and interesting finish to the evening. Will definitely revisit in a random day.

Went there after a very disappointing dinner and I gotta say, this place did not disappoint! We only had two desserts and a couple drinks but the precision being the dish that we got were so well executed. I wish we had more time to spend in Amsterdam to go back I try the rest of the menu.

The third Michelin Star Restaurant from Richard van Oostenbrugge and Thomas Groot, this one a Bistro, focuses on classics in an a la carte format where all dishes are similarly portioned for sharing thanks to a recent menu change. Located mere steps from Bistro de la Mere, bar seats leading to a staircase with tables one story above, guests will find service quickly paced but perhaps a little understaffed as a lone man tended to delivering and clearing plates for five tables while neglecting beverage service. High-priced for what is essentially French Tapas, €7 “Streetfood” inspired Souffles two bites at most, dry Reisling pairs well to starters such as lean Beef Tartare complimented by the Sea as well as a steamed “Souffle” reminiscent if Quenelle de Brochet. Impressing with Pate en Croute, a thin slice but nicely textured, confit Turbot seems unneccesarily complicated while €33 each sees Sweetbreads amidst Olives a far better proposition that a single slice of glazed Duck. Not afraid to go bold with local Lamb, wrapped for texture in a rich Sauce bolstered by Cumin, Paprika and Harissa, Sweets all come kissed by Booze with both Pecan Pie and a flaky baked Apple outpacing a Ducasse-priced Baba at roughly half the size.

We would have expected more from a Michelin-starred restaurant. The four-seater table in front of the restroom entrance is a no-go!

Nice place; had dinner the day after Valentine's Day. somewhat messy reception on a narrow piece at a busy bar. Table layout cozy, romantic and good distances. Food was good. We shared several dishes and you have to be hungry for organ meat here. Service not entirely on point; very friendly, but wine for example forgotten with the main course.

We were here privately (invited) for lunch. I didn't know that this restaurant has a star and I must admit that if I hadn't been told I wouldn't know now. The food was delicious, everything on the plate is easily recognizable, very pleasant. The service is friendly, there is nothing to complain about. The decor is cozy as you would expect from a luxury bistro but for me not worthy of a star in terms of decor, although of course it is primarily about the food, but the rest wants something too. What I found a minus point at star level is that the person sitting in the corner had to hand over the plates himself. The knives, forks, etc. were very original in a beautiful ("jewel") box on the table, fragile in shape but that ensures that you eat slowly and really enjoy it. Nice that the tableware is not contemporary but from the previous century. For me definitely an address to go back to but I will then clearly agree in advance where I absolutely do not want to sit. Because I do not want to sit by the toilet, for example, I saw today.

So the restaurant looked really nice. Some really good wines. Cohesion was unfortunately not there; no communication about structure of food and wines. Dishes were good, but only the main dish was former Michelin worthy. Big mis match with red wine and desert (cake with sweet rum). We give feedback about this, they acknowledge about this they also didn’t care. If you are reading this and looking for high cuisine then trust me, there are betters for a lower or same price and much more wow factor! Expected more so that’s the reason for 3/5 stars.

Visited this establishment over Amsterdam Restaurant week for the 5 course Michelin lunch. Having dined in many Michelin starred restaurants my experience here was rather flat. Service was good, the atmosphere is cozy, however the food lacked the experience I’d expect from a starred restaurant. Some of the flavour combinations were too pungent for my palette and did not quite hit the spot for me personally.

If you can enjoy the specialties of the Juwelier in a wonderfully relaxed way...I say do it! So delicious, and the way the dishes are served and with every dish a delicious wine. Nice staff, everything that comes on the plate, is explained by them! Until next time!!

Very disappointing experience. We had a table downstairs next to the toilet door. Way too many tables for the space. Not a welcome feeling at all. Inconsistent and very mediocre service. Disappointing dishes. Definitely not worth a star. Shame on you Guide Michelin! I really regret not having looked at the reviews beforehand. Totally overhyped restaurant! Price quality 3 out of 10.

Lovely service and delicious food :)

Second time I went here. First time the service was poor and slow but the food was so good that I decided to give it another go. Today there had obviously been a change in service for the better. The Argentinian waiter was so friendly and welcoming it was a positive change. The rest of the staff was also what you would expect from a place like this. Now food and service match, perfect place!

While we had reserved for a table “upstairs”, we were placed downstairs right in front of the toilet. A heater with cold air was necessary, probably to mask the sewer smell? Several comments about setting the heater to a warmer setting or turning it off only had an effect after more insistence. The beetroot starter was mediocre in taste. The entree (duck liver) was good in itself, but the sauce that was much too salty greatly diminished the taste experience. Shame. Made a comment about this to the staff. His explanation was that the cooking in the kitchen was “highly flavoured”. A noble goal in itself, but not if the high taste is mainly salty. The main course (Tongue) was presented swimming in a sauce that was again much too salty. After my comment about this, the dish was made again, this time with the sauce separately. This sauce was again way too salty and probably came from the same badge. The sole was cooked dry and therefore not tasty... After these three disappointing experiences in a row, we left for dessert. It is incomprehensible to us that De Juwelier has received a Michelin star. The prices are already at star level, now that the food is still…

Lunch.€100 1 snack, 2 dishes and 2 glasses of wine PP. Food is fine, a few minor flaws. Service also OK, too bad that the waiter gives the same comments/answers to every table. Good choice, tasty etc etc. Wine choice with dishes not ideal.

Special proposals in pure French style, in an old bistro environment with a few seats on the upper floor and a nice counter where you can eat, all well managed by the young and passionate dining room staff. Bottles on display and a glimpse of the kitchen embellish the first glance when entering the restaurant. Cucina suggests that he too is a young chef, but I could be wrong, and he can and indeed must certainly grow... but the conditions are excellent!

Very bad experience at De Juwelier. We had a very uncomfortable table against a dirty curtain near the toilet. We then wanted to start with an aperitif, but we were immediately given the menu. As a starter I had the Pate, which was very tasty. I didn't think the eel in ravioli was a combination, the flavors were flat and the eel was completely missing. The Baba au Rum is a fat ball in pure alcohol. The service is absolutely not up to standard. We ordered a Grand Cru (a white) and we received it without refrigeration, so we had warm wine halfway through the evening. It's really scandalous that they have a star.

Highly recommended it. Lekker, lekker. Tasty, good quality, good presentation and good flavours. The combinations of ingredients are a success. As a starter I ordered 2 oysters, with a Dutch touch. Then I ordered 2 smaller dishes like the tartare and the potato purée with caviar. I liked the crunchy point on top of the tartare, and it was well seasoned. I found the purée between acidic and overly salty, but it was delicious. As a main dish I ordered the duck. It was too short for me, I could have eaten the whole duck. It was really good. To finish I chose the pecan pie for dessert.

Beautiful place, delicious food. The service is mediocre for a restaurant with a Michelin star.

Thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. Our taste buds have made a colorful journey through the world of flavors, a true adventure!

We just walked into the restaurant for lunch and got a spot at the bar, just as we had in mind- and we had a “chef’s table “ experience!😍 we started with some local amuse bouche like Dutch oysters, followed by a delicious pate en croute. As mains we chose the glazed duck - which we had seen developing the whole time- and the pike perch cake, both of which were amazingly delicious and executed! And the that we chose by the glass were all very good, too😀 All topped by a croissant filled with apple and a pekan tarte! What a treat and discovery !

Great restaurant! Really surprising menu! Michelin’ level. I ate the best Pâté en croûte ever!

Four weeks ago I had a very bad experience at this 1 star Michelin restaurant. Dishes were tasteless and served without any love for beautiful food. Starter (beetroot) came straight from the refrigerator after 1 minute (so much too cold), after the order had been placed. We had not even been able to order an accompanying wine with this dish. Dish eel in green had no taste of eel. Marrowbone dish had more mushrooms than marrow and its presentation was not impressive. Red gurnard dish: red gurnard was delicious, but the sauce was much too watery. The letdown was the veal sweetbreads, which were not crispy on the outside (as if they came straight from the microwave) and were covered in an abundant tasteless sauce. Very special: no amuse(s) and one Madeleine with coffee!! There were also plus points: nice wines and friendly service. The bill was also very strikingly negative: 437 euros for two people, this was for a four-course dinner including wine, aperitif, water and coffee with digestif. The restaurant asked for a review one day after our visit. That happened, but unfortunately we did not receive an answer from them, hence this public review.

Terrible experience & overcooked / salty food. The manager was extremely unprofessional & rude. Flies everywhere even in winter. We were seated next to a rowdy group of 18, and instead of finding a new table, we were asked to leave. Not worth a Michelin star. Avoid.

Utterly disgusted by how my partner and I were treated here. Staff unwelcoming and not helpful. Food well under par, not worthy of a Michelin star. A fly flew into my wine and the server didn’t apologise. A large group booking meant I couldn’t hear my partner across the table or the servers explain the food they were presenting. When asked to move to ease this, they were completely unhelpful and provided no solution.

Nice location, pretty good food. I think the service leaves something to be desired. Won't be returning there again.

Founded by same 2 chef of Bistro De Le Mer but difference of heaven and earth. Probably exotic meat (hare and mallard) are not really up our alley for dinner
