Very friendly, attentive, and welcoming staff, and a relaxing atmosphere. The boiled eggs (on Wednesdays) are fantastic. They also have excellent toasted sandwiches, fried eggs, and snacks. Saturdays are lively, sometimes with a performance.

Rude woman working at the bar. I wanted to order a coffee - asked if they could make it to-go, the answer was "No". My friend had a coffee from the café next-door, so I asked if it's alright if we sit together outside to have our coffees together. I was met with a blunt "No", this time in a very harsh tone. Seeing her attitude, I left without ordering anything. Avoid at all costs. Update as a response to the owner: I have no idea what the owner is on about. They are literally making stuff up. I wasn't rude at all, just asked for a coffee and whether we could sit outside together. I don't know how they could know my friend was rude or a "stoner", since she didn't even enter the place and she doesn't smoke. Second, I don't know how we left a pile of garbage on the terrace or in the bathroom, since we didn't sit at the terrace and never asked about the bathroom, let alone use it. I just literally entered for 2 seconds, then we left to some other place. The owner is straight up lying. Their response just proves my point that the staff is rude and doesn't want business, and it probably gives you an idea of what kind of place this is.

A traditional Dutch pub like few others. You walk in and immediately feel welcome. The clientele is diverse, and the bar is often buzzing with activity. The staff has a perfect sense of the atmosphere. Whether you're from the Jordaan, Amsterdam, or just a local, De Kat is a place for everyone.

The most beautiful street corner smells of coffee and beer. Well, this is one of those corners. Excellent beer on tap. Friendly staff. A lovely brown café with four TV screens for watching football. If I'm ever in Amsterdam during football season, I'll definitely be back. 👍

I went into this café with the genuine intention of being a paying customer. Since I know that in the Netherlands it’s not common to use facilities without ordering something, I politely asked for a bottle of water. The lady told me they didn’t have any. I then asked if it would be possible to use the bathroom, and she said it would cost one euro in cash. I didn’t have cash on me, so I immediately offered to buy anything instead. At that point, she simply shook her head, waved me off with her hands, and told me to leave. As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I have never been treated with such rudeness. Her behavior was unnecessarily dismissive, impolite, and frankly insulting. This kind of treatment is unacceptable anywhere, let alone in a place that supposedly welcomes customers Never again.

Nice brown pub where you can have a beer in a very pleasant atmosphere

I went out there last King's Night, I got beer twice, €9, so including 2 x €1 deposit for glass, no problem..... next rounds, I now see €9 debited on my statements, but I do bring the glasses with me when I pick up beer....

Yesterday we stopped by for a quick drink and I completely regret not paying attention to this business before. It is not only super cozy but the staff is polite and welcoming and the drinks are good! I would come more often, they really have a place in my heart now. Thank you for everything.

Typical Dutch place but little substance

If you order a whistle of beer you pay the price of a vase. Found this out afterwards after drinking 19 beers. The owner indicated that they actually did not sell whistles and this was the reason you paid more. You would expect a product to be sold at its own price.

Vandaag was de dame achter de bar oud en chagrijnig. Vorige week hadden ze geen broodjes in een café dat bekend staat voor de lunch. Ze waren vergeten broodjes te bestellen.

Ja super lekkere. Iedereen praat over Winkel en hun appel taartje.. maar wow! Hoe lekker is de appeltaart hier and ook hun ertwtensoep! En de bier selectie -- niet veel maar goed, en genever ook. Simple and complexly simple place... the spirit of the old Jordaan... with amazing Jordanese staff and cook... so glad these places still exist in the neighborhood.

Had some beers and something to eat yesterday. A wonderful Jordanian establishment 👍. In short, highly recommended.

Woensdag hielden we hier een stop tijdens onze wandeling door Amsterdam. 2 flesjes Jupiler 0.0 van 0,25 cl besteld en we moesten 8 euro afrekenen. Wel èrg aan de prijs voor die kleine flesjes. Ze gaan meer dan 10 keer over de kop.

Haben uns hier aufgewärmt bei heißen Getränken, die harten Eier am Tresen sahen auch wirklich schmackhaft aus.

Lovely spot for a sit-down outside with a book and coffee/snack when the weather is nice. I've had their caprese and apple pie. Food/drink has been consistently decent and it's a nice place to escape the overly touristic parts of Jordaan.

Take a detour away from the tourist hordes to have a beer somewhere a little more relaxed, a little more authentic, where Dutch voices rather than American prevail. Grab a seat outside and watch the world go by. A lovely neighbourhood cafe (pub).

Hier ff een drankje gedaan voordat we gingen eten bij Duende Dos. Leuk "oud" cafe in de Jordaan. Komt en zit van alles aan de bar en de tafeltjes. De ene dame achter de bar mag wel vrolijker dr werk doen maar ach dat kan een keer gebeuren.

Gastvrije vertrouwde stek waar ik verzopen aan kwam tijdens een typische Noordhollandse monsoon. Broederliefde toonde zich toen mijn gehoornde engel van 'n Eelco me vastlegde met zijn nieuwe iPhone. De druppels op mijn baard werden niet tastbaar, dat kun je verbeteren, Apple! Trots zie ik dat mijn kleuren goed uitkwamen. Daar werd door Eelco 🍻 aan toegevoegd, én ik kreeg 'n pakje Lucky Strike Red 20 cadeau. Dat ik in mijn binnenzak stopte en tien bier in mijn kraag later mee op mijn turquoise fiets mee terug naar de stadionbuurt nam. Ondertussen had Eelco De 🐈 opnieuw gestoffeerd en zijn 🐈 tijdelijk in de vensterbank geparkeerd om zijn roes uit te kunnen slapen. "Laat iemand anders mijn beest maar een keertje voeden. Jong geleerd is oud gedaan", appte hij me 's nachts om half vijf. Baasje moest 'n plasje doen. Als de 🐈 van huis is komt de plasser los... vijftien 🍻, hè? DG

Op zich lekker buiten gezeten. Jammer dat de bartender de port telkens over het glas morste... jammer van de port en alles wordt er zo plakkerig van. Wel een prima samenwerking met zijn overbuurman dat je na 22.00 uur gewoon nog bitterballen kan halen 😂😂

Very local and Amsterdam “y” place to be! They have updated their menus and its a lot more modern. Love it for them! Chorizo and cheese tosti never misses. The staff are always super nice and helpful!!
