A terrace and café where you'll receive prompt and friendly service, and the sandwiches and toppings are truly fresh and delicious. And for me, it's my go-to spot after a stroll around the market.

As tourists, we were strolling around looking for a place to eat and happened to stop here—and we’re so glad we did! The menu is available in both Dutch and English, which made ordering super easy. The lady taking orders was really kind and took extra care in suggesting what to eat, which we really appreciated. The interiors are beautifully artistic, and while it’s not a big seating space, it feels nice and cozy. The food was great, and we also had coffee and fresh orange juice—both were perfect. Loved the whole experience! Would definitely recommend stopping by.

Old-fashioned Amsterdam cafe located on the Dappermarkt. Great location: great atmosphere and great service. You expect Piet Römer, as Baantjer, to walk in here at any moment. Delicious snacks and drinks! Recommended.

Yesterday I received a healthy sandwich with brown lettuce, I asked for butter and did not get it and this is not the first time that this has been ignored, since the owner has been ill, the mice have been dancing on the table, today I complained and no one has even said sorry, except that I have to complain to the person who made the sandwich, well today you received your last 2.25 tip from me, you are not worthy of my tip and I will make someone else happy with this, get well soon to the owner, I would like to advise you to sweep through the company to achieve success

Pleasant place and staff. But what is getting annoying now is at 6:15 am the old gentleman uses a blower to blow away leaves. Haven't you heard of a broom? We have a number of children in the street who are disturbed by this every morning. I also don't think it's the intention to drag chairs or throw down tables. It might be a good idea to have someone of a younger age do this work. Because this one wakes up the whole neighborhood and doesn't make a difference. I have worked in the catering industry for years and have also had to install terraces and have never had any complaints from local residents. This really takes the cake. I hope you can do something about this soon because this is really enough now!

Great Amsterdam cafe with lunch menu. Friendly service, good prices. Nice clientele, connection with football and of course Ajax. People play cards there, just a lovely place!

Waited half an hour for a sandwich. It was busy and seemed like there was only one person serving and one in the kitchen. Very unfortunate during lunch time.

Older woman alone in service does not pay attention to who sits on the terrace waited a long time order went wrong twice but had no problem the time. Then my hot meat sandwich arrived several slices of meat were almost black and dried out the lady did not want to give me another sandwich did not want any meat threw it away. Got my sandwich back after a short time with the message that the dark pieces of meat had been replaced by new meat. Apparently the meat is kept warm and that causes it to continue cooking and dry out. Never before had such a bad sandwich and such a bad one. service, even people at the table next to us thought the reaction was not normal. No, I will never come here again.

De Lachende Gulden is a market pub unlike any other. It has now become a regular outing to relax. You can sit & eat like a king, both inside and outside. My personal favorite: the delicious pancakes, which are prepared with a lot of love. I hope to enjoy this lovely place for many years to come :)

I was with two friends at the laughing guilder. The sandwiches are tasty, well filled and well priced. I recommend everyone to take a seat here. If you have been to the Dappermarkt, the laughing guilder is a great place to be.

It's very approachable. You can take a rest when you're tired from shopping. Many people working in the market use the toilet here for 0.5 euros a time.

Fijne plek op de Dappermarkt (even uit de drukte). Prijzen zijn super schappelijk en de vriendelijkheid van het personeel bezorgde mij een 'huiskamer -gevoel'. Lekker een koffietje in de zon met Carmiggelt erbij. Ik kom snel nog eens.

Pit stop for a relaxing and refreshing beer before continuing. Nice and calm place. The only thing is that if you get distracted, they take away your glass of beer with still some beer on it….

Het terras van De Lachende Gulden is een heerlijke plek om buiten te zitten en over de drukte van de Dappermarkt te kijken. Koffie is prima.

Goed broodje kip. Maar personeel is weinig spraakzaam. Ook wanneer ze het niet druk hebben. Niet erg gezellig dus.

Op zich lekkere broodjes en knappe kokkin, maar je komt nooit echt met ze in gesprek. Ook niet op de wat rustigere momenten

Gezellig binnen / buiten cafe aan de Dapper markt. Lekker Amsterdams en knus. Gezellige lieve en gastvrije ontvangst. Buiten heerlijk gezeten en dus even uitrusten!!! De koffie was zalig evenals de appeltaart (met slagroom) ! Fantastisch...ik hoop dat zij dit nog lang zo zullen voortzetten....tot de volgende keer !!!! X

The best places to be in Amsterdam are the neighborhood bars outside the center. "De Lachende Gulden" -The Laughing Florin- is home to lots of retailers and many neighborhood folks of the famous "Dappermarkt" street market. Geweldig terras bij zon of regen je kan er heerlijk zitten,koffie is betaalbaar en erg lekker,appeltaart word zelf gemaakt,en het belangrijkste is de barman en barvrouw zijn supper aardig,vanmiddag de lekkerste gehaktbal ooit gegeten wauww supperrrr,en wat was het gezellig

Wij zijn zaterdag 13 juni naar de Dappermarkt geweest. Na een wandeling over de markt heerlijk gegeten en gedronken op het terras van de Lachende gulden. De bediening is vriendelijk en klantvriendelijk, zeker de moeite waard om daar even te gaan zitten en wat te drinken en eten na een dagje Dappermarkt bezoek.

Heel vriendelijke en behulpzame medewerkers, gezellig. Vooral de broodjes tartaar speciaal zijn overheerlijk
