What a cool campsite You'd wish that for everyone

During my visit to Avifauna, I also visited the self-service Restaurant "De Lepelaar". There is a buffet available, and you can place orders at the cashier at certain times. There is a counter for picking up your order. You receive a pager at the cashier that goes off when your order is ready. You can sit inside or outside on the terrace. The Van der Valk staff is friendly and helpful.

Staff not capable enough for the service. With one order, received the wrong item up to three times. Staff in a panic. Probably misjudged by Van der Valk.

The food and staff in the restaurant are not up to par with Van der Valk. It wasn't busy when the hot food was being prepared, but there were 3-4 staff members, one of whom was a manager (who didn't really show any leadership initiative). It was extremely busy at the cash register, with only one staff member, and the long line stretched all the way to the end of the self-service area, including the area where the hot food was being prepared (with the manager watching). There was a second cash register, but they didn't use that one. Customers at the back of the line decided not to wait/eat there and left the restaurant. The price-quality ratio is disproportionate in this restaurant. We only had a sandwich, because the drinks were far too expensive for what was offered. A 1/2-liter PET bottle of cola was €4.10. A small cup of coffee was over €3.00. An ice cream elsewhere in the park was even cheaper. And they were Cornetto and Magnum sizes, for €2.75. We've visited several zoos in the past, but this restaurant ranks low on the list of zoo restaurants.

Simple restaurant with simple choice, but good sandwiches and fries.

The price-quality ratio wasn't good; the food was lukewarm and overpriced. The staff was kind enough to re-fry the food, but with some grumbling.

Paid 11 euros for two cokes and a coffee! So way too expensive.

Had some really delicious fries. Never tasted such a tasty and well baked one.

Got food with my children. It took a very long time for the person behind the counter to respond to the fact that I wanted food. This person seemed very disinterested. I forgot to show my subscription at checkout, so I didn't get a discount. On an order of €19, this is a considerable amount. When I reported this later, nothing could be done with it. I find this very strange since it is one of the privileges that you pay for as a subscription holder. Furthermore, the fries were old and therefore cold. Not worth repeating for me.

Food was lukewarm so not freshly fried, the service was also lacking and the price-quality ratio was very below par for us the last time here

It was a nice zoo, it wasn't that big, but we had a lot of rain this morning, otherwise we enjoyed ourselves

A simple restaurant with a reasonable choice of food. You can choose from sandwiches, fries and fried snacks. The prices are reasonable, but I think the interior could be made more attractive.

A self-service located right next to the playground. Have a decent card, without any real special things. Good enough to strengthen the inner man.
