Shabu Shabu in Hoorn

Over the years, we have eaten here regularly; unfortunately, this time was the last. The owner is a particularly unfriendly and unreasonable person. We had a question about the voucher; the website indicated that children under 3 were free, yet he charged 5 euros for the summer promotion. Mr. Bet immediately started shouting at me and was very unreasonable. He only calmed down somewhat when my husband joined him. We were treated very unkindly afterward, and I did not feel comfortable at all.

Good food and very fast service

Excellently organized business. A wide selection of various small dishes and desserts of great quality for this concept and the corresponding pricing. Temporarily, a number of standard drinks are also included in the all-inclusive price. That gives you an idea of ​​what's going on, as far as I'm concerned. The restaurant itself is well-decorated, but the outdoor area is a bit less impressive. I'm a fan!

I have both eaten here and ordered for takeaway, and both times it was very disappointing. The sushi was of poor quality. There was far too much rice around the sushi, so you could barely taste the fish. Furthermore, the order was missing the ginger and wasabi, which you should simply expect with sushi. My previous visit to the restaurant was not a good experience either. Unfortunately, this was the last time for me. There are plenty of sushi restaurants in the area that provide much better quality.

We ate at Shabu Shabu today. The food was quite tasty, except for the fried banana and the steak. I think the banana wasn't fully ripe and tasted a bit like nothing. The steak was very tough, poorly seasoned, and completely overcooked, making it feel like you were chewing on a car tire. The dessert bar wasn't very exciting either. When you hear the word 'dessert bar,' you expect (at least I do) much more than 5 tubs of candy, 6 flavors of ice cream (3 tubs of which were already completely gone), a few pastries, and canned fruit. The drinks were good; the juices were only tasty for the first 3 sips because they consist of 60% ice cream and 30% drink. Service: There were four of us dining, and in the first round, they managed to forget 4 entire dishes. In other rounds, we also missed food very often or received something completely different. For example: in one round, my father ordered the beef cubes and received fried duck! Everyone was quite nice (even though they hardly spoke). There was only one person who seriously annoyed me; she looked like she hated her job and even rolled her eyes at us! I think the service is barely worth 3 stars. Atmosphere: The atmosphere was very nice and cozy; the restaurant is nicely decorated with beautiful art on the walls (and actually throughout the entire restaurant).

For a bill of €95.70 for two people and an all-you-can-eat concept, I think you should be able to expect more. The food arrived much too quickly, causing the hot dishes to be undercooked, lukewarm, or cold, and some of the cold dishes, such as sushi, were lukewarm. I will definitely not be coming back here.

Very bad experience. I was with my 9-year-old daughter, and we went there because she wanted to eat sushi. I do not eat sushi and do not like it at all. When we arrived, I told the person who welcomed us that I was only there for my daughter and that I did not want to eat anything. However, his English was very poor, and his Dutch was not good either. I also explained the situation to the waitress, but she also did not speak Dutch or English well. In the end, I was forced to pay for both myself and my daughter, even though we were there for only 30 minutes and I did not eat anything. This cost me €65. I am really disappointed and will never come back.

It is also strange that you have to pay an extra surcharge of 1.50 euros for "ramen." I'm not ordering rice with it, am I? It's not a matter of both. The Poke Salmon Tuna was deliciously fresh and contained plenty of fish. The Spicy Cheddar Strips weren't really spicy, unfortunately, but they were tasty nonetheless. The Sweet Cheddar Strips and the banana were also delicious. We do order from Shabu quite often now, and we always have to pay 2 euros in delivery costs. But when I look at the terms and conditions, I read something completely different. I am quoting the text from the terms and conditions: 2. Delivery 2.1 For the delivery of an order, a minimum amount applies which is indicated per store. The prices listed on the website include the costs for delivery. So actually, I have been paying delivery costs all this time while I didn't have to. Or am I missing something? Maybe Shabu can refund those costs to me? I couldn't create a new review, which is why I used the old review to provide this update. It remains strange, though. 10 months ago: We are fans of the pokebowl. Really super tasty. I ordered food through Thuisbezorgd, which I do often. Normally, it's fine, but this time it smelled strange, and we tried a few bites, but it immediately went bad. I called Shabu, but unfortunately, because we'd tried it, they couldn't do anything for us. Not even a new order or a partial refund. I won't be ordering from here again. It's ridiculous.

I come here to eat every now and then. Every time, I leave feeling satisfied and content. The sushi always tastes delicious and fresh. It is a beautiful and spacious location with plenty of tables. There is a good selection of sushi or hot appetizers on the menu. You can serve yourself dessert once you have finished eating. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Very limited vegetarian options, and with the new menu, it has become even fewer. With this, Shabu Shabu clearly indicates that it has no interest in vegetarians.

Upon arrival, our grandchildren's ages were not requested, and no age discount was applied during payment. When I complained the next day, we were spoken to in a very unfriendly and unprofessional manner. I emailed the management, and they told us we should bring the children's IDs. This is not stated anywhere on the website!!! We have never had to show an ID in a restaurant before!!! We felt the quality was already declining anyway......... so the conclusion is: They have lost us as loyal customers!!

I never really post reviews. Because everyone's experience is different. But this food was just truly awful. We usually eat sushi in Zoetermeer, and this shabu doesn't even come close. Such a shame. A waste of food and a waste of money. But it was a pleasant evening with my family.

Until recently, this was my favorite restaurant, but unfortunately, my last visit was a huge disappointment. After a long time, I returned with high expectations, only to find that the restaurant was completely neglected. The restrooms were filthy, the door locks didn't work, and there were cobwebs and dust everywhere—it seemed like nobody cared anymore. Zo zie ik dat niet. Ik heb tenslotte ruim 200,- uitgegeven en kon deze niet uitgeven. Ze kunnen wel een nieuwe bon uitgeven voor de volgende keer. Alsof ik dat ga doen? Kunnen ze zeker weer die bon niet scannen. Nou gaat het mij niet om die 5,- maar om het principe! Ik heb hierdoor een nasmaak gekregen en ga waarschijnlijk nooit meer terug. Gelukkig zijn er genoeg andere sushi restaurants.

Supervriendelijk personeel maar een slecht concept van all you can eat & drink in 2 uur terwijl het heel lang duurt voordat eten en drinken komt. Als je daarover klaagt komt de manager die niet voor rede vatbaar is. Hij is het standaard oneens met de klant en probeert niet eens te luisteren naar de klacht. Hij is zwaar onbeschoft en heeft nog nooit van het voeren van een normaal klantgesprek gehoord. Hierdoor hebben wij de avond met een heel vervelend gevoel afgesloten en raden wij iedereen af om hier naartoe te gaan. In Alphen zijn veel betere restaurants met professionelere managers.

Delicious food! We received a warm welcome and the service was smooth and friendly. The new menu is highly recommended, we really enjoyed the delicious sushi. The seared salmon was perfectly prepared, and the mini handrolls, surimi salad with mango, beef rolls and lamb chops were all top notch. What we also really appreciate is that a sesame allergy was taken into account, which gives us confidence. We will definitely come back here more often!

We thought it would be a romantic evening on February 14th. We had been waiting outside in the cold for 20 minutes. Waited within 1 hour for 1 snack. After 2 hours we had had our first round. We received food from the wrong tables and after a lot of complaining (including the other tables) we got a 10% discount. We ran away like that. I've never experienced this before. What bad service. Way too many people inside...scandalous!

We had a delicious meal with the three of us, my one and a half year old daughter, my wife and I. We were already familiar with Shabu Shabu, but not yet with the one in Alphen aan den Rijn. It was nice to see that they had other dishes. We had not made a reservation in advance, but fortunately that was not necessary. We arrived around 5pm and luckily it was still quiet. The restaurant is spacious, making it easy to enter with a stroller. The service was fast! When the first order was placed, the first dish was on the table within five minutes. The food was delicious, I had no further comments about that. Instead of ordering your dessert there, they have a dessert bar. Unfortunately, this bar wasn't much, but what they did have was green tea and black sesame ice cream. I was very happy with that. They also had nice cocktails. My wife was very enthusiastic about the lychee cocktail. I will definitely visit here again with the family: delicious food, tasty drinks and good service.

Ruim 1 jaar geleden voor het laatst geweest. Toen was de kwaliteit nog goed. Wij gaan voor de Nigri sushi. Gisteravond geweest, wat is de kwaliteit slecht geworden. Nigri sushi bevat nauwelijks nog vis (erg dun en weinig) terwijl de hoeveelheid rijst eronder gigantisch is. Verhouding compleet weg. Ook de rijst smaakt niet goed. Blijkbaar wordt er sterk ingeboet op kwaliteit om de omzet op peil te houden. De prijs/kwaliteit is slecht. Wij gaan niet meer.

Had dinner with 2 people on a Wednesday evening around 6:30 PM. In our case, reservations were not necessary, because there was plenty of room. Friendly guided to a table. System explained with QR code. Works fine. If you have ordered food, you will have to wait 10 minutes before you can select the next dish to order. Drinks can always be ordered. You can order a maximum of 4 dishes per person at a time. You have 2 hours to order. You can then linger for another 15 to 20 minutes. During that time, you can, for example, have a cup of coffee or use the accompanying extensive dessert bar. Parking is available opposite the restaurant in the hardware store parking lot. If full, you can park in the adjacent parking garage (for a fee). All in all, a delicious meal in a relaxed setting in a cozy restaurant. Recommended to others and if we are in the area, we would eat here again. Sushi tasted good and fresh. The rolls are thicker than normal at other restaurants. We found the nori of the makis a bit stiff.

Atmospheric sushi & grill. Nice and helpful staff. The food is tasty and prepared with love for the profession. The restaurant is open to view and has room for many guests. It's neat and clean. If I'm in the area again I would definitely go here again.

Nice meal. On a Saturday evening there was still room for 2 'without reservation'. It's really drafty at the window (overlooking the market square). I sat with my coat on my lap. It looks like there is single glazing. Insulation leaves much to be desired. The service is fast and nice. I think it's a shame that unnecessary additional sauces are added to all sushi dishes. Is not necessary and as such is not on the map.

The sushi was a bit stale in terms of filling and a bit stale. There are much better takeaway options (e.g. Sushi Alphen). One of the few sit-down restaurants that is also open on Mondays. Too expensive for what you get.
