Beautiful spot on the Meuse. Nice lounge music, relaxed atmosphere. The furniture is a bit shabby and there are few chairs with backrests. The food, however, is surprising and the menu is small and clear. It is not cheap.

Perfect spot for a summer plan by the river. There's plenty of space, food and drinks are good, and they organise multiple events.

Went for a bite and a drink with friends yesterday. The view is fantastic..... The food was very disappointing; give us the burger instead of Asian food. We ordered 4 sandwiches (€15/€16 each, disproportionately way too expensive), but only 2 sandwiches were served..... they forgot the other 2. While we were sitting there, 2 more people came to complain. So for us, maybe another drink there, but no more food.....

This is really great. We love this place. Were locals and really appreciate this hidden gem

A really lovely spot by the Meuse. I go there regularly, with friends and/or family. Unfortunately, Stooges (2025) no longer serves hamburgers, but is now (2026) Asian Streetfood. As a result, the price-quality ratio has declined significantly. In short: have a drink there and, if you really have to, eat a Bahn Mi sandwich. I would skip the rest.

Food provided by Pak Pak Gauw was really delicious! The cocktails are slushy-style, perfect for warm days.

Great spot on the Meuse with a fantastic view and a relaxed atmosphere. The few bites & sides I ordered were, unfortunately, shamelessly bad. The so-called spring rolls were deep-fried mini spring rolls! Something completely different! The €9 Cauliflower Tempura was deep-fried too; the taste was bland, and the accompanying sauce was a ready-made concoction in a container. The Gochugaru fries were so thin that they almost got stuck between my teeth, and after four big bites from the container, it was over. The sauce? Also ready-made in a container. All deep-fried, virtually tasteless snacks that were not made with love, but with mass production in mind. By the sunny waterside with a fine glass of wine, it was a pleasant snack.

The people who come there make it a fun party, but you can certainly question how the owner runs this place. Prices are sky-high compared to what you get. For instance, you order a glass of prosecco (around €8), which you then receive in a wine glass that isn't even filled to the brim. These prices are acceptable if you're in a fancy establishment in the city center, where you don't have to stand in line for a good half hour just to get a drink, and when you go to the toilet you enter a decent restroom instead of this shit bunker, as they say in Rotterdam slang. Feedback to the owner: clean it a bit more often and provide air fresheners ✨

The location is quite lovely. The staff is friendly and kind. The food is good but this year gets way more expensive, with very very tiny portions. Some main courses have the description that are to be shared, but they can be shared only if the other person is not eating. 😅 So I do not recommend to have dinner there.

Perfect spot to watch the sunset against the Rotterdam skyline with a beer in my right hand and a burger (from Stooges) in my left. Pure enjoyment, highly recommended!

Came for the cinema evening, we got lucky with the weather and had a wonderful time. The loungers were comfortable, the pillows and provided blankets made for a very cozy evening. The headphones were comfortable and provided perfect noise cancelation. Bonus points because I could bring my dog with us! Do note that as it's by the waters edge there may be the odd spider friend chilling under or around the loungers so I'd recommend a sweep for your sanity.

Celebrated my birthday with 65 people on the terrace of the Maaskantine. It was fantastic. I wanted a vegetarian buffet, and it was fantastic! Great service and a beautiful location. Highly recommended.

I absolutely love this place - great vibe, good music, quick service and juat a lovely view! We didn't eat here but the menu looked good. My advice is to plan ahead a book a water taxi if you intend to go back into Central Rotterdam, the stop is right next to here and its a great way to travel back (or to travel to here). I highly recommend visiting

Open air cinema moved to inside because of the weather but seats were heated and the stuff was super nice. Last year, the menu had a lot of delicious potions. We came again for that but this year basically there are only burgers..

Wat je in werkelijkheid aantreft, is een plek waar gastvrijheid heel ver te zoeken is. De eigenaar van De Maaskantine heeft een talent, niet voor service, niet voor gastheerschap, maar voor voor zijn gasten het zo min mogelijk naar de zin te maken. Arrogant en onvriendelijk lijkt hij vooral bezig met het uitstralen van desinteresse. De toon is bot, het gedrag afwijzend. Kom je met een vraag, hoe beleefd ook gesteld, dan is een snauw het hoogst haalbare antwoord. Daar komt nog een ander, hardnekkig probleem bij: het gebrek aan betrouwbaarheid. De online communicatie over openingstijden en beschikbaarheid blijkt vaak onjuist. Wie zich baseert op wat de zaak zelf publiceert op Instagram, loopt grote kans voor een gesloten luik of een eindeloze wachttijd te staan, soms tot anderhalf uur, zonder uitleg of enige vorm van respectvolle omgang. Jammer, want het met deze locatie zou het een ware parel kunnen zin. In plaats daarvan is het een grote teleurstelling en een plek van gemiste kansen.

What you actually find is a place where hospitality is hard to find. The owner of De Maaskantine has a talent, not for service, not for hospitality, but for making his guests as unhappy as possible. Arrogant and unfriendly, he seems mainly concerned with radiating disinterest. The tone is blunt, the behavior dismissive. If you come with a question, no matter how politely asked, a snap is the best possible answer. There is another, persistent problem: the lack of reliability. The online communication about opening hours and availability often turns out to be incorrect. Anyone who bases their decision on what the business itself publishes on Instagram runs a great risk of being faced with a closed hatch or an endless wait, sometimes up to an hour and a half, without explanation or any form of respectful interaction. Too bad, because with this location it could be a real gem. Instead it is a big disappointment and a place of missed opportunities.

Had a drink with friends. At the waterfront, nice to blow away and watch boats. They don't take drinks, you have to order them yourself at the bar.

What a cool place! We came down for the outdoor movie night, definitely a must do. There were headphones provided so you could hear even with noise around. You're not allowed to bring your own snacks which is a bit of a shame as there's not a huge amount on offer. There's a great selection of beers and soft drinks. Now, the burgers - absolutely incredible, one of the best burgers I've had in the Netherlands, incredible quality meat, nicely seasoned, a proper proper burger!

Toevallig gaf een andere klant na mij een zelfde reactie Na een volgend bezoek hoorde ik weer deze opmerking. Het zou fijn zijn als deze feedback vertaald wordt in het serveren in een mooi glas als je er zoveel geld voor vraag. Wat meer hospitality zou deze zaak goed doen

Mooi gelegen aan de Maas. Houten banken en eenvoudige ligstoelen. Keiharde muziek. Eenvoudige menukaart. Beperkt aanbod drankjes. Zeer fors geprijsd alles. Geen bediening. Zelf alles ophalen bij de bar en gelijk afrekenen.

Indeed, a real canteen in a nice place on the Maas. Price level not really at canteen level, but where can you get really good prices these days!? Bean bags, picnic tables and a 'beach' with sun loungers create a very nice atmosphere.

Bad place. Yesterday during the European Championships I bought a ticket to watch the match, when I come in the employee says the QR code cannot be scanned. I was denied entry. Once again, “QR code has already been scanned” access still denied. I couldn't get in. One more time after my insistence and the scan was successful, no excuses at all, nothing. You're going to be deeply ashamed. If I hadn't continued, you wouldn't have given me access. Ticket has been bought, the proof is there, just think about it. Never experienced this before. You're really ashamed. Worthless. No next time for me, that's not how you treat your guests.

Super nice location on the water with a beautiful view and friendly staff, but the price/quality ratio of the food is really far below par. A poorly filled burger without fries will cost you €10 plus a surcharge to get this vegetarian, which is now also incredibly outdated, plus a half-filled bowl of fries for €5 to fill up the meal a bit. . Unfortunately no next time.

We were looking for a place to sit near the river. We chose 2 burgers with double portion, fries and 2 soft drinks. It was positive that we were able to also bring our dog. The burger was ok but my wife‘s was burnt badly and still raw inside. Another positive though was the immediate replacement with a new burger that was cooked better. Service was friendly. The total price was 43€ which I think was a bit too much, so choosing the normal burger with 1 portion of fries and 2 soft drinks for 2 adults is enough and you would pay then 30€.

Staying at the Novotel decided to walk over and was welcomed warmly, ordered a veggie burger with a side salad (all seasonal)! Delicious!! Watched an amazing sunset, also watching the guys that work here enjoy everything as much as I was!

Nice location, but very unfriendly employee(s). Was treated rudely at the bar because I ordered something they don't sell. Could happen, I don't know the entire map by heart. When I mentioned another drink, I just couldn't get it thrown at me. Very unfortunate, because it has always been one of my favorite places, but I don't feel like going here anymore.

The Maaskantine is a wonderful location on the Maas. In the sun with a beautiful view of the city center. They have delicious snacks there, but you can also dine there. The terrace offers a casual atmosphere and it feels like a living room. Very nice to visit once...

Ben hier geweest bij de openlucht film Stand by me. Zeer leuk opgezet.

Hele chille plek aan de Maas vooral met een mooie zomersedag. De shortrib was droog en karig niet zoals hij moet zijn helaas. De burger was een stuk beter gelukkig. Het is hier zelfservice dus bij grote drukte kan er een flinke rij ontstaan. Prima plek voor een lekker sappie aan de Maas.

Leuke tent om te borrelen pal aan de Maas in een rustig hoekje van Rotterdam. Parkeerplaats en veerpont naar Zuid dichtbij. Comfortabele picknicktafels en zitzakken en ruimte voor diverse groepen. Gevarieerd aanbod drankjes en originele snackplanken (zowel vega als vlees). Prijzen liggen vrij hoog (ca. 5 euro voor pils, 6-7 euro speciaalbier en 30 euro voor borrelplank 6 personen). Gesloten in de winter.

Zo gezellige plek aan het water. Je moet zelf je drankjes halen en cocktails kunnen wat beter maar alsnog lekker plekje!

Weer zo een plek waarvan je moet weten dat het bestaat, anders kom je er niet langs. Een heerlijke plek weg van de drukte. Perfect als je op een warme dag even wil schillen langs het water. Waanzinnig uitzicht over de Nieuwe Maas en skyline. Betaalbare mix drankjes en finger food. Naast de vele picknick tafels en lounge plekjes zijn er ook ligbedden. De foto's zeggen genoeg. Er zijn regelmatig optredens van bands en dj's.
