Steak was spot on, really well done. Grilled vegetables were a nice match. Limited wine list but chosen bottle was decent. Don’t bother with desserts though. Was recommended the brownie and it was very mediocre. 2 stars for the desserts.

Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Price I’ve eaten at De Nachtwacht twice now, and both times have been underwhelming. The service is chaotic, orders were mixed up, extremely slow, and the food arrived cold. For €100 per person, I expected far better. The food itself is very basic and doesn’t justify the high price point. The only redeeming feature is the drinks, they are good, but at €15 per cocktail, even that feels overpriced. There are much better places in Amsterdam to spend your money.

An expensive place, not kosher, the food is very tasty. And of all the restaurants around Rembrandtplein, it is the best in our opinion.

Great place to have steak outdoors

This place is a trap. The food isn’t worth the price. Expensive spareribs but doesn’t even include any sides such as fries or side salad. They make you pay for everything. The waitress asked my sister to choose the sauce for her steak and turned out at the end we had to pay 5 euro for just a bit of sauce on the steak. The most terrible thing was my spareribs. I had never eaten ribs that sweet! The worst ribs ever! It was like they only use sugar to marinate it. Very dry and sweet! Doesn’t recommend you to come here

I had a very strange and disappointing experience at this restaurant. Right after we sat down, the waiter told us there are mice near the wall by our table and that one might come out at any moment. He asked if we were afraid of mice, as if this was a normal thing to mention in a restaurant. Honestly, I was shocked. This is not just unprofessional, it’s unacceptable for any place that serves food. It made us seriously question the restaurant’s hygiene and overall standards. We left immediately. I truly hope the management takes this seriously, because this is not something any customer should ever have to hear.

Although we were sited by the bar, staff was friendly and the food was delicious. We took onion soup and ribs with steak. Great ! It is the place worth visit.

This was our first meal in Amsterdam. Unfortunately, it was pretty disappointing. We ordered a ribeye and salmon. The ribeye arrived raw and was sent back for more cooking. Neither had much flavor and was overall underwhelming. We didn't finish our entrees, but paid an expensive bill. Maybe dinner service is more impressive than lunch?

My first time visiting the restaurant, and it was an excellent experience in every way. I ordered , and it was incredibly tender and melted in my mouth – truly a premium choice. The lady who served me was extremely polite and professional, helping me choose with a calm and friendly attitude. I highly recommend asking for her if you visit – she genuinely added a special touch to the whole experience

I had the worst experience here. The older lady working there was extremely rude. When we spoke in English, she started shouting and forced some incomprehensible store rules on us. Tourists should definitely avoid this place. The food wasn’t good either. It was just a croquette stuffed in plain bread — nothing special at all.

Super steakhouse right in the middle of Amsterdam. Food, wine & latte were all excellent. We made an advance reservation for our trip and everything was right on schedule. Highly recommend this restaurant.

This is a modern steakhouse in the heart of Amsterdam.

We went to the reviews, the steaks and mixed grill are worse than in any unrated restaurant, the pepper sauce is just flour and pepper crumbs, the baked potatoes with the meat are overheated and tasteless, the carpaccio is not outstanding, the frog legs stew is not tasty, don’t waste your time, find another restaurant.

Excellent restaurant considering that Dutch cuisine is not exactly the best. The bread with garlic butter was fantastic, as were the scampi and salmon.

Very good steaks and nice service

Everything started very well, and the atmosphere was great. The waitress then took all the drinks and food (only two people) without writing it down. Later, the wrong steak and wrong side dishes arrived. That's fine, it can happen, although very annoying. But then it took over 30 minutes for a new steak to arrive. We were about to leave. The steak was cooked to the wrong degree (it was now a rare dish), and the side dishes were already cold. Unfortunately, the waitress didn't take care of the mistake quickly and correctly.

I have eaten steak at world renowned steak houses in San Francisco and Chicago, and this rib eye was one of the best I’ve ever had. Absolutely delicious. Had the baked potato with it. Everything including the service was perfect!

I'm very picky when it comes to places, my family recommended it several times and I checked the place. well, now it's my number one go to for occasional after-business meetings. I very very much recommend French/Italian cuisine, probably better than most restaurants I've been to in Netherlands!

Very friendly Staff members, plenty of options to modify dishes to your liking, I can't remember any other place that keeps the quality on regular basis. Every time I visit, they keep up the good work. 10/10! on my scale. I take my kids almost every weekend

If you visit Amsterdam, this restaurant is a place you cannot miss. It offers excellent value for money, with exquisite cuisine and a cozy atmosphere, tastefully decorated. The service is impeccable, attentive and efficient. But, without a doubt, the best is its cuisine: the onion soup, burrata and truffle carpaccio were spectacular. Each dish was delicious, and it is surprising that, for the quality offered, the prices are lower than usual in the city. Totally recommended, 100%.

Llegamos tarde a Amsterdam, y terminamos en este restaurante por recomendación del hotel en el que nos alojábamos, que estaba cerca (mansión de los bancos). No teníamos reserva, pero como eran casi las 10 de la noche pudimos conseguir una mesa. El restaurante todavía estaba muy ocupado, con un ambiente muy animado. Nuestra camarera era muy amable, e impresionó que mi esposa hablaba holandés bastante bien. De todas formas como estábamos cansados de viajar, decidimos saltarnos la entrada y simplemente tomar un plato principal. Mi esposa tenía el salmón a la parrilla y yo los muslos de pollo adobados. Ambos platos se cocinaron muy bien, el salmón estaba bien puesto, y el pollo tenía mucho sabor. Tuvimos una guarnición de verduras y patatas fritas, además de una bebida antes de la cena y una botella de vino. Toda la cena cuesta Euro 95. Tal vez un poco en el lado caro, tal vez, pero la comida, el servicio y el ambiente eran todos muy buenos.

I didn't give it five stars because the service was a bit awkward/slow. When I walked in, it took me a while to be acknowledged which felt icky. Luckily, once seated, the waitress who served me was very friendly. The food was okay. Nothing to trip over, but it satisfied my cravings. I ordered steak and fries. The steak tasted a little charred/burnt. I ordered medium well. The fries were tasty. The best part of this restaurant is the view. I sat on the patio and people-watched. It has a wonderful view of the square. Lots to look at when you dine outside.

By reading the very good reviews about the spareribs, I felt it necessary to check whether it was all true. And it was really worth it! It is a very nice place with very friendly and fast service. Delicious cocktail and then the spareribs...delicious, so delicious. Definitely recommended if you come and eat here. But it's best to make a reservation. If we come to the Netherlands/Amsterdam again, we will definitely come back here. That's a promise.

A unique place that delights from the first moment. Ribs – world championship! Juicy, perfectly seasoned, they melt in your mouth. In addition, a well-selected wine that enhanced the taste of the dishes. Service? A class of its own. The waiter responded to everything with sensitivity and a smile on his face, before we even had time to ask for anything. As soon as he noticed us wiping our hands on paper napkins, wet wipes immediately appeared. He advised on portion sizes - he was spot on. Thanks to this, we felt pampered and taken care of. Going to this restaurant is not just a meal - it is a real culinary pleasure and comfort that is so often missing today. I recommend it wholeheartedly!

While visiting Amsterdam I was able to try this establishment with my boyfriend. We had the prime rib for two, the meat was super tasty and well cooked. As the previous comments mention, a little disappointing that the accompaniment is counted extra but other than that nothing to complain about.

The staff were really friendly and the food was served in a timely manner. There was a good drink selection and these were brought over quickly. My fillet steak was slightly overcooked but still tasted great. The sirloin was slightly undercooked but still well-received. I'd definitely return to this restaurant.

We return to De Nachtwacht every time we are in Amsterdam for the last 12 years. This time we didn’t have a reservation during the Christmas week and the place was packed, but Andy made his best to find us a seat for a quick dinner at a place that we really love for its food and now also for its quality of service, we’ll definitely keep on coming back

Delicious steak flawlessly prepared as you prefer. Fries could be better, though. It's a very nice place to visit, unless there is a football game.

Estaba con mi esposa y dos hijos pequeños. Aparecimos sin reserva y nos mostraron a una mesa por una joven llamada Felino. Durante toda la noche el servicio fue excepcionalmente amable y profesional y disfrutamos de una experiencia gastronómica, no solo una comida, con mis hijos probando ancas de rana para el tiempo también! Nos divertimos tanto que volvimos la noche siguiente, de nuevo sin reserva; de nuevo, no hay problema. También tuvimos la suerte de tener Felino servir nuestra comida de nuevo. No puedo enfatizar lo buena que es la joven con una sonrisa que realmente ilumina la habitación y se felicita con modales impecables - ella es un activo absoluto para el restaurante Gracias y nos vemos en la próxima visita. Yesterday I was in this restaurant for the first time, I want to note that the food is very tasty, there is a very wide variety of cuisines from different countries, also French Dutch, I recommend very tasty meat, as well as desserts, the service is at the highest level, treats you well and is very attentive, the location is simply wonderful, it is in the center

We were a table of two, got there quite early at around 16:00. My table mate ordered a grilled Salmon and vegtables and I ordered the Entrecôte steak and baked potato with Béarnaise sauce. The food was mediocre at best, not gross just plain and bland and the grill marks gave the dishes a burnt taste instead of the carmelised goodness most people are after, we think that at the 20-35 euro price-point for a main course it isn't a good tradeoff. The service and atmosphere were really nice inside the restaurant, but again, we were there quite early and pretty much alone. As it is Amsterdam and it is December, it's important to note that it was raining outside, and we did see several locations in the outdoor veranda seating area that had leaks over the tables. So outdoor seating isn't recommended.

I had been looking forward to having a nice meal here for my birthday for a week, unfortunately the cancellation was made on the same day, of course you can't do anything about it and the money for the reservation was quickly refunded, but despite booking a few hours in advance was canceled, I could no longer go to another restaurant, whatever I had in mind. Shame! Maybe see you next year then.

We first sat at a tent opposite here, just had a nice glass of wine and that was it, then we were referred to the night watch and we didn't regret it at all, we came in, nice music, nice atmosphere and were immediately helped nicely by Corne, we just had to have a drink. Waited half an hour and then immediately got a table, lady steak was fantastic!! wine and service definitely worth 5 stars

Was in January and in July. Got really disappointed the second time. First time was great and I was full after eating. Second time I left while still being hungry. In the image is the same thing, ribs and stake combo, just few months apart.
