Incredibly delicious spare ribs!!! Very, very tender meat with a sweet, slightly smoky marinade and a very tasty garlic dip. The service was also great. Very friendly staff.

We had the best time at this restaurant. The staff were very friendly and anticipated what you might need it want before you had to ask. The food was just to die for and flavours were great. I think that was the best steak I've ever had. Highly recommend this establishment!!

It was a birthday dinner and everyone had a delicious meal.

The staff were really friendly and the food was served in a timely manner. There was a good drink selection and these were brought over quickly. My fillet steak was slightly overcooked but still tasted great. The sirloin was slightly undercooked but still well-received. I'd definitely return to this restaurant.

We return to De Nachtwacht every time we are in Amsterdam for the last 12 years. This time we didn’t have a reservation during the Christmas week and the place was packed, but Andy made his best to find us a seat for a quick dinner at a place that we really love for its food and now also for its quality of service, we’ll definitely keep on coming back

Delicious steak flawlessly prepared as you prefer. Fries could be better, though. It's a very nice place to visit, unless there is a football game.

We were a table of two, got there quite early at around 16:00. My table mate ordered a grilled Salmon and vegtables and I ordered the Entrecôte steak and baked potato with Béarnaise sauce. The food was mediocre at best, not gross just plain and bland and the grill marks gave the dishes a burnt taste instead of the carmelised goodness most people are after, we think that at the 20-35 euro price-point for a main course it isn't a good tradeoff. The service and atmosphere were really nice inside the restaurant, but again, we were there quite early and pretty much alone. As it is Amsterdam and it is December, it's important to note that it was raining outside, and we did see several locations in the outdoor veranda seating area that had leaks over the tables. So outdoor seating isn't recommended.

Yesterday I was in this restaurant for the first time, I want to note that the food is very tasty, there is a very wide variety of cuisines from different countries, also French Dutch, I recommend very tasty meat, as well as desserts, the service is at the highest level, treats you well and is very attentive, the location is simply wonderful, it is in the center

I had been looking forward to having a nice meal here for my birthday for a week, unfortunately the cancellation was made on the same day, of course you can't do anything about it and the money for the reservation was quickly refunded, but despite booking a few hours in advance was canceled, I could no longer go to another restaurant, whatever I had in mind. Shame! Maybe see you next year then.

So good! Went two nights in a row to this gem in Rembrandtplein. Food is great, get any steak with the Pepper Sauce its amazing. Staff is very friendly!

Was in January and in July. Got really disappointed the second time. First time was great and I was full after eating. Second time I left while still being hungry. In the image is the same thing, ribs and stake combo, just few months apart.

We first sat at a tent opposite here, just had a nice glass of wine and that was it, then we were referred to the night watch and we didn't regret it at all, we came in, nice music, nice atmosphere and were immediately helped nicely by Corne, we just had to have a drink. Waited half an hour and then immediately got a table, lady steak was fantastic!! wine and service definitely worth 5 stars

Have known this business for over 50 years. Nostalgia at its best when we visit Amsterdam. Meat dishes from the grill with baked potato are excellent. Friendly service.

I haven't been there for years, but my best memories are of my dinners with my bestie José Kars(Jos). Before going out, an appetizer with prawns and/or onion soup, a bottle of their best white wine, sancerre, and then a nice thick ribeye or entrecote. Best memory ever. Hope to come back again. Everything was excellent, the staff, food and cocktails, I highly recommend! Especially on cold and humid days this place will make your evening better. The bartender is friendly and professional, great discovery. The pork ribs are fabulous!

Even if a little bit noisy and our table just in front of the door (chilly when people came in and out) food was very good, saumon very tasty. Notice cider is bandit, nothing local.

We wanted to dine at this highly rated restaurant. We managed to get a table and honestly it was good. Salmon shrimp or chicken (a little overcooked) but we had a good dinner. Special mention to the really great staff. The very “Amsterdam” prices a little high all the same

Amazing place and atmosphere! Don‘t mind sitting at the bar, it was really nice.

Really liked the atmosphere, the place is cozy and has a kind of Parisian vibe. They serve nice Cremant by glasses for 8 eur, which is much appreciated. The steak tartar is well-flavored, but nothing exceptional. The fillet steak cooked properly, not chewy and juicy. It missed bright meaty flavor though, as if it was frozen before. The starter was served quite quickly, while the main dish took an extended waiting time. Side dishes were served separately, with 5-10 min gap with the steaks, which was very convenient. I would go there for nice evening with cremant and starters (haven’t tried the escargots, but I recognized amazing smell from the neighbor table).

We had the most amazing experience here, mostly thanks to the waiter, Mahmud, who did all the efforts to make us have a great time. The food was amazing, and so was the wine. We highly recommend it, and we'll come again for sure.

It looked nice until I sat down I asked the clerk if they had bitterballen and they said We only have what's on the menu buddy A very rude response. The bread came within 1 minute it was poorly cut. I literally had to tear it loose at the bottom, it was so hard. And dry the Butter was of stone and the bread was also cold. I also tried to signal to the waiter, but was completely ignored. Bad food rude staff

Wonderful thing. We walked in last night and were able to eat at the bar. Excellent service from bartender Corne who, by the way, understands the trade of upselling very well :-). We shared two starters and at the bartender's recommendation - outside the menu - we ate the flat iron steak. Unfortunately the baked potato was sold out, but we also had dinner a little later in the evening. Was great! The only downside is that Pepsi is served and not Coca-Cola. But hey, not everything can be perfect.

Had a disappointing lunch, ordered a steak and ribs, ribs were okay but the steak was a bit cold when served. We have to wait for almost 40minutes for our main dishes.

I did not have a good experience with this restaurant. I have been here before and wanted to come back. So I came in 2 hours early to make a reservation. And since I am alone I did not want to take up a table. Generous of me, right? So I requested a place at the bar. I could have made this reservation online, but I decided to do it in person. The man confirmed it and told me he would keep the seat for me. I return after two hours to see a full restaurant and a full bar. No place left for me. Why did I even bother to come in and make the reservation? The man then opened a space at a table with two other guests outside (pretty cold and weird to join another table) and I asked him why my reservation was not honoured. I had to wait till the bar was clear. I refused and left and went to Royal Hotel Restaurant and had the bést filet mignon ever. Next time I will go there again: nice seating and great food.

Wine was shit, steak was good but was medium rare when I ordered medium. Veggies were good and service was fine.

The food is delicious, but the service is really bad. I put the bowl down like I was throwing it and there was still beer left so I cleaned up all the dishes.

The restaurant was cozy and comfortable. We booked a reservation for our group of 18 and they had a nice spot for our group to sit. The communication pre-event was wonderful and the greeting upon arrival was welcoming. The staff took great care of us, keeping each course at a comfortable pace so we could spend time talking to each other. The food was delicious, the drink menu full and the service very personable.

Prompting waiters. Not pushy, helpful. Espresso martini was on point! Got the fillet steak and lamb chops. Asked for medium. Fillet steak was definitely on the rare side. Other than that, food was delicious and nice atmosphere.

Well what was once my Fave has Fallen. Yes the Ribs are good enough to Eat. But with ribs everywhere in Amsterdam I might need to try others. The last two Times I ate the ribs but Noticed they were not Cooked fresh nor Smoked so they looked and tasted Yesterday or the day before. Also they don’t arrive smoking Hot because where there’s No Smoke there’s no fire. Not totally disappointing But certainly in need of Improvement. And once They were cold in places. Also the Service is as Arrogant as Ever. I arrived and no One was sitting inside and the waitress made Me wait whilst she ‘Checked’ reservations? Right.

The worst restaurant in Amsterdam.. There is an employee named (Danny) who is very racist At first he was not nice When I asked him about bread and butter, he sat laughing sarcastically and said, “Pay.” He brought dishes that were dirty and when I returned them to him, I did not apologize I called the manager in charge and he said, “I’m sorry.” He brought bread and butter, and I heard Danny and he saw him laughing! I said he laughed!! I'm sorry Danny! I ordered steak and he didn't ask me what degree of doneness was required! Danny is very racist The food was excellent...but the presence of a racist like Danny distorts the image of the restaurant and the Dutch! The Netherlands is characterized by sophisticated treatment and nice people, and this employee is doing a disservice to the restaurant..

Great food! We started with the mixed salads, which were really lettuce, a few cherry tomatoes, red onion and cucumber. It had a light vinaigrette. We ordered the escargot (snails) in garlic butter - so flavorful! The snails were maybe a little on the small side but excellent. We also had the 10 oz filet- we ordered it medium rare and it might have been slightly redder than normal, but the seasoning and steak were fantastic. It came with a hollandaise sauce which was terrific, and a yellow curry that was subtle and not overwhelming. We also ordered the chimichurri and pepper sauces. Both were good, but didn’t add to the steak. The service was good. Great meal!

Had an absolutely wonderful evening, 100% service, 100% quality. We asked for iced coffee, and they didn't give up until we got what we wanted, even though they didn't have it on the menu and we even indicated that it was fine that way. Very surprised, highly recommended!

You get what you pay for! I went around 5pm on a Friday, and I was seated in under 5 Minutes. The staff was very accommodating and diligent. Didn't have to ask for anything. I know why you guys been in business for about 50 years. Great service.

This restaurant had great reviews so we gave it a try. The staff were not the most welcoming, the tables were crammed very tightly and there was not enough space for the food, condiments and the wine and water glasses. Some of these had to be placed on the ground under the table. The food was really very tasty, not the best steak in Amsterdam I hate to say. We thought it was a bit pricey for what we had and the tightness of the place. The wine was, in our opinion very pricey. I do appreciate that diners are allowed to smoke outside in restaurants, but if you are a non smoker the smell is disgusting and doesn't let you enjoy your food. I would suggest that if you are a non smoker book a table inside. Not ideal but you will enjoy the food more.

All our steaks were incredibly tender and tasty. Lovely sides and sauces. Friendly and quick service. We’ll be back!

We had a hard time choosing a restaurant for our dinner, wanting to have a pleasant evening and enjoy a delicious meat dish. We settled on this place based on the reviews. The establishment is not bad, with a pleasant staff and a fairly cozy interior. We ordered snails, a mixed grill, and a dish with steak and shrimp. The key was that we asked for one dish to be medium-rare and the other well-done. In the end, we waited 45 minutes for the dishes, with snails arriving a bit earlier. The snails were tasty! However, all the meat was cooked to a medium-rare doneness, even more rare than medium. I personally ended up eating only the shrimp. We asked them to redo the meat and cook it fully through. But in the end, the meat still remained raw inside. This completely ruined our impression of the establishment. The service was slow, and the kitchen failed to properly cook the meat as requested, even after being asked to redo it. While the snails were good, the main dishes were a disappointment. I would not recommend this restaurant based on our experience.

Excellent atmosphere and steaks

Atmosphere and service was good but my partners steak came out wrong firstly and when taken away was then brought out cold. I hope this was a one off and not the norm considering the reviews.

I'm having dinner this evening with my girlfriend. The food was very tasty. Coincidentally, it was pride weekend that we didn't know about and the atmosphere was great! Big thanks to Memo, Danny and someone else whose name we have forgotten ;)

The salmon for the starter was extremely tasty, especially with the warm toast, delicate butter, fine cocktail sauce and a splash of lemon juice. For the main course we had the spare ribs and they were also perfectly prepared! The best spare ribs I've ever eaten! The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The location and ambience of the steakhouse were also very nice. We went back for dinner two days later because it was so unforgettably delicious!

We got the French onion soup as an entree & the rib eye as a main. Both were cooked superbly and the French onion soup was by far the best I have ever had. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Amsterdam!

**Review** From the moment I sat down, my waiter was not very welcoming. I ordered the entrecôte steak, requesting it to be cooked medium well. However, my steak arrived bloody, and I had to ask them to cook it longer. My waiter gave me a look and was clearly unhappy, which was extremely rude and unprofessional for someone in the restaurant business. The steak itself was not seasoned at all, as if they just threw the cow on the grill. The quality of the food was subpar. Additionally, the meal came with no side dish or salad. If you want to order a side dish, you have to pay extra. If you want sauce on your steak, that also costs extra. Overall, the customer service was terrible, the food quality was poor, and it was not worth the price. I do not recommend this restaurant.

When paying, check the receipt carefully, €28 in unordered cocktails will be on the receipt. Food was fine.
