Wow, wàt een leuke locatie, relaxte sfeer bij Red. Supervriendelijke ladies in de bediening en ....daar kwamen we natuurlijk voor... heerlijk geluncht in de altijd gezellige antiekbuurt in hartje Amsterdam. Graag deel ik hier nog even dat mijn BFF en ondergetekende genoten van thee (om op te warmen in koud Amsterdam), smakelijke avocado salmon toast, een goed gevulde Caesar salad to share, een mooi glas rode wijn - keus genoeg - en als afsluiter... warm chocoladetaartje en tarte tatin... zo jammie allemaal. Daar paste nog net een cappu en prima espresso bij. Niet nadenken: gewoon hier gauw naartoe gaan! Jammer dat een aantal voornamelijk oudere reviews een ander beeld geven, wat o.i. absoluut niet klopt met onze ervaring gisteren, 22 januari 2025

I really enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the food! The burgers there are on the pricey side but definitely worth the money. Really nice staff too!

Bad service towards guests which makes the food overpriced. Voice of server was overruling throughout the restaurant. He pretended to be super nice, but he had a 'I don't care' attitude and food felt of the plate while serving and stayed on the floor next to our table the whole meal. Also no red wine. We felt bad for the other boy and girl working in the restaurant. We had a lovely family day out in Amsterdam but this restaurant was a joke.

Food was good but the red wine had run out. Very hilarious. Later in the evening there was also a white wine. Guys, that's bizarre!! No, not worth repeating. Service waved us away.

My experience with the food was great, the place is wonderful, but the attendant was extremely rude when I answered a speaker phone call because I didn't have headphones... an extremely unpleasant situation!

Restaurant RED was such a pleasure to dine at! The food and attitude of the staff is by far the best that I have experienced in the Netherlands. Everything tasted great, was sent out in a timely manner and at the same time for the whole group, and was presented beautifully. Head Chef Magashen Naicker is doing an amazing job together with his team. We were served by Lisa and she had a smile on her face and a great attitude throughout our visit. Be sure to try the truffle parmesan sweet potato fries and the prawn starter! They are absolutely delicious!

And don't forget to order the Brussels sprouts! Delicious.

A cosy and welcoming restaurant, with fabulous food! The lamb shank on the Holiday menu was tender and well seasoned. And our waitress Lisa went above and beyond to see to our needs. Definitely one for the books!

Fui aquí para almorzar el día de Navidad, ya que estaba a menos de diez minutos a pie de mi hotel: Disfruté de todo lo que tenía, tenía un precio muy razonable por un lugar abierto el día de Navidad: solo una pena que parecieran estar inundados de gente que solo quería tomar una copa, si fuera mi lugar les habría dicho que fueran a buscar un café.

Acoustics are dramatically bad. For the rest everything is fine. We took the tournedos (160g) and the tenderlone steak with truffle from the suggestion menu. Both cooked perfectly. The staff is also very fast and correct. Nice experience 👌🏽

Very nice warm place. Very good food and drinks but on the other hand an infinitely long waiting time. We waited 30 minutes to order and 20 minutes to pay, the waiters were in no hurry and not the most welcoming.

We ordered the hot apple tart. Especially the ice cream was very nice. Coffees are good too. The waiters work very hard and perhaps they cannot make it due to the lack of numbers. It took too long to order and ask for the bill. We broke the score from there

The prices are on the high side and that is not a problem if you get something good plus enough. Hamburger was delicious, but small in price, salad dry with little taste and lacking imagination. Staff very competent, friendly and when I read the reviews I think it would be better to go for the evenings if we go again.

Beautiful, fairly traditional menu but with quality dishes. Cooking on a closed grill brings tenderness and flavor that we really appreciated. (Both for the little chicken and for the tournedos). Perfect service. A little noisy despite everything, especially on a weekend evening when the tables are close together.

Este restaurante está en una gran zona a la que pude ir caminando desde mi hotel. El ambiente dentro del restaurante es hermoso. No teníamos una reserva, pero fueron capaces de apretar en nosotros, que estábamos agradecidos. Nuestro servidor era muy atento y amable. Ofrecieron una lista de cócteles, que siempre aprecio. Pedimos las vieiras a la parrilla, las gambas a la parrilla, y el Angus ribeye para dos, con coles de Bruselas. Dos aspectos negativos que voy a señalar: queríamos pedir ostras y foie gras como aperitivos, pero nos dijeron que estaban fuera de ambos debido a que era domingo. (¿Todavía no estoy seguro de qué tiene que ver con algo el domingo?) Todas las entradas vienen con un lado de papas fritas. Pedí una sustitución de las patatas fritas, que también se ofrece en el menú. La camarera volvió y dijo que se habían quedado sin patatas fritas debido a que era domingo. La segunda negativa es que el filete ribeye no tenía absolutamente ningún condimento y no tenía sabor a él. Afortunadamente, ofrecen salsas para pedir junto con el bistec, así que pude comer mi bistec siempre y cuando lo sumergí en la salsa. En general, la comida era deliciosa, el ambiente era hermoso, y el personal de camareros era muy atento y amable. Todo estaba a un precio razonable también.

We met Red in 2014, our experience was wonderful. Back in Amsterdam 10 years later, we returned to the restaurant. We ordered starters and again the Steak and Lobster, house specialties. Impeccable food, atmosphere and service. I recommend!

Fuimos en pareja. Servidor era flipante y no le importaba! Traje un trago y me olvidé del otro trago. Nos equivocamos con dos platos y nos dijo que todos los platos saldrían a la vez, incluyendo el pan y la mantequilla. Luego se olvidó completamente del pan. Pedimos la factura y el servidor se olvidó y tuvo que ser recordado. El vino era bueno, pero la comida estaba bien nada genial y no vale la pena el dinero.

We waited 40 minutes for our order - wine and beer. At the same time, the waiter forgot what we ordered and about us. When we called another waiter, he quickly fulfilled the order. I want to say that you need to work hard on service and maintenance

Came for brunch and it was very quiet, so really there was no excuse for the stone cold eggs Benedict! Very poor.

Came here for a celebration and was met with let down. To begin, we walked in with a reservation for 8 people,without a greeting and no table ready, we had to move the tables ourselves. Was expecting high quality service for a restaurant with a good reputation and those expectations were not met. The staff constantly walked by the open door through the evening that let cold air in, and never closed it, again something we had to do ourselves. We were also never checked up on, to see if we were satisfied. One of our guests was hit in the head with a plate, moreover the table between starters and mains was not cleared, again something we had to do ourselves. The only words said in this encounter by the waiter was “switch”. Apart from appalling service the food was pretty good.

You will have four waiters in two hours, it is a bit chaotic and narrow. I had to ask three times for bread to the tatar. The tatar itself was really poor. In general the location is nice and atmospheric, the soup of the day was good. The waitress are a bit uninterested. There are many tourists here like we are and you felt that.

Red is een sfeervol restaurant aan de Keizersgracht. Als voorgerecht aten aten we een uitstekende, smaakvolle tonijn tartaar. De (huis)wijn, een sauvignon blanc, EUR 9 per glas, oversteeg het niveau niet van drie liter pak uit de supermarkt. De zeer droge steak tartare was helaas niet te redden door toevoeging van de dressing. Een chemische/medicinale geur was een reden om de droge lauwe coquilles terug te sturen. Wie controleert deze gerechten voordat ze worden geserveerd?

We regularly walked past this restaurant and had been thinking about eating here for some time, unfortunately it was a huge disappointment... in fact, we didn't even eat. Neatly reserved and on time. When we entered, there was a couple with a menu, 2 other tables with a drink and 2 tables on the terrace. So nice and quiet. We were initially received very friendly and were allowed to choose where we wanted to sit. After waiting fifteen minutes, we had not yet received a card, no drink, nothing! It really wasn't busy, there were enough staff and yet we were not helped. A lady who came later and took a seat outside, on the other hand, had the menu and a drink in a few minutes. Now we could have asked for a map etc. ourselves, but that seems like the opposite world to me, especially considering that there was virtually nothing to do. Which in the meantime gave us the opportunity to take a good look at everything, where we noticed the incredibly dusty window frames. We got up and left after 15 minutes, which was not even noticed by the staff! We just received an email "Thank you for coming".... No, never again for us!

We moesten erg lang op ons eten wachten. De tafel naast ons kreeg hun eten al (terwijl ze 10 minuten later dan wij binnenkwamen en hadden besteld) Ondertussen was grote een groep mannen die steeds meer dronken werden. Schreeuwen en met drankjes in de hand door het restaurant heen dansen. En het personeel deed er niks aan. Het eten liet heel lang op zich wachten en de porties friet die bij de bestelling hoorde kwamen pas aan toen het eten al op was. Waar-de-loos en veel te duur voor wat je krijgt. Een echte tourist trap, meer kunnen we er niet van maken.

Excellent place with great service and good location. It has been a good option to eat for years.

We came for 'Salty Sunday' as an 'afternoon snack': €2 per oyster in the afternoon. Unfortunately, oysters were too 'salty'. Salty is normal, but this was just not tasty. Or had the cook already 'salted' them? Ate it with some extra lemon. We found wine very expensive: from €7.95 per glass, but most are 8.95. Nice, good size. The 2 guys serving were very nice, did their best but couldn't quite cope (the 3 * is for friendliness after all). We had a nice time outside. Sofa upholstery really needed to be renewed!

I came here with my mum this evening. We had the scallops and prawns to start, the sharing 600g steak which came with fries and its own seasonings on the board for us to use, we had the red wine sauce, and then a creme brulee and a coffee. Everything was absolutely perfect, the nicest meal we have had in a long time. We were served mostly by a young waiter - we didnt catch his name but think he was Spanish with dark curly hair. He was absolutely lovely, attentive, and full of energy which made us smile but without being too forceful. Excellent service and excellent food!

We received a friendly welcome and were allowed to choose a table ourselves. We ordered the eggs Norwegian and avocado salmon toast. Drinks and food were served quickly and service was top notch. The dishes were very tasty and portions just right. Would definitely eat here again for lunch. Highly recommended. Now that I read the somewhat negative reviews afterwards. I absolutely cannot agree with that and definitely recommend this restaurant.

Caesar salad costs €23.50. the salad consisted of 30% raw chunks of chicken meat that was a bit lukewarm, gray in color and had an oxidation taste. clearly a leftover that was still in the refrigerator. The croutons were gray black, not fresh in taste. Found relatively little lettuce in my plate. A disappointment. Also warm camenbert orders 14.95. This was a round camembert cheese that had been placed in a brown dish and heated too hot in the oven so that the entire cheese had run and there was a slice of camembert at the bottom of the dish. It came with two slices of sourdough bread, not a fresh crusty roll. The fries were not light brown, crispy, but black brown, fried too long and too hot. we spent no less than 73.35 which we quite regret. I would have been better off giving it to charity. Greetings Frits.

Part of our meal turned up more than half way through. I reminded the waiter we were still waiting. He looked horrified but we still had to wait as clearly they had not been fulfilling the order in the kitchen. Otherwise food delicious. This was also repeated with other customers that we observed. Someone was told that they didn't have the starter she ordered. The friend was served. Waiter was reminded that an alternative was ordered. Again the kitchen was clearly not preparing it as it was quite a while before she got hers. For such an expensive restaurant this service is poor. Some elements of the decor needed attention too.

Such a special place in Amsterdam. I’ve really enjoyed most of their menu (Sweet potatoes fries with truffle & parmesan are my weakness in this place!) I came back several times and I’ve received always the best treatment. Rachele, at the service, it’s simply outstanding: beautiful presentation, professional service, and she gives a detailed description of the plates and of course I cannot leave a review for her as well! It’s always a pleasure to eat at Red.

What a mess, no sauce, meat well done instead of medium rare, no cutlery. If you send it back, you will receive it back without lobster... and without cutlery, the sauce is still frozen! Wow, really bad!!!!
