Great place for team dinner. Escargots were amazing !

We were a large group of 7 so we were really happy we were accommodated. The vibe was really nice. Warm, spacious yet cozy , chic. The good was really flavourful. I highly recommend the escargots, Camembert and mussels.

Nice place for a brunch, a coffee or dinner :) The camembert from the over was SO GOOD.

The food was great and there was good service! They have good mocktails!

"The staff here are incredibly helpful and friendly—huge thanks to them for their service! That said, the venue could definitely use a renovation. The floors, benches, and carpets looked a bit worn and dirty, and there were wine boxes untidily stacked near the kitchen entrance. The food is still tasty, but having visited years ago, I noticed a slight drop in quality. The Surf and Turf used to feature a much meatier and tastier lobster tail instead of the current half lobster, and the fries are now frozen rather than fresh-cut. However, the tenderloin remains excellent and perfectly cooked. Overall, it's still a good spot for a nice meal, but it didn't quite live up to the high standards of my previous visits."

We went there a couple times for brunch during our 4 days stay in Amsterdam. The coffee and food are excellent. The restaurant is beautiful and service was great. We love it so much that we went back again for the 2nd time.

Nicely decorated, cozy little restaurant. However, lunch dishes are meager compared to the prices. And the portion of fries is also very small. A shame, because it tastes really good. The service was friendly, but they paid little attention to the guests. We also saw people leave because they didn't respond quickly. A response 2 years after the review.....remarkable🫣

Nice decor, good location. The dishes match the menu descriptions, and you can translate the menu into different languages ​​using the QR code. Be warned, however, if you ask for water or bread, you'll be charged without any prior warning! What a surprise on the bill!!! A third of a baguette, defrosted white bread, for €5.95—it's outrageous!!!

We were there on a Sunday afternoon and the place was very busy and the servers were overwhelmed. Food was delicious though and we will definitely go back!

We were seated despite a full book. The menu wasn't brought for 10-15 minutes, but our friendly tablemates offered theirs, so we moved on to choosing main courses from the menu. We chose half a lobster and a steak, as well as a leg of confit... the lobster was delicious! The steak is a solid 4, but the leg of confit was overdried, and the sauce wasn't great (in my subjective opinion). Overall, the place is okay, but if you have other options, go for it. I won't go again. Overall, a 3.

After visiting the Black restaurant, we decided to visit this one too. Great atmosphere, quiet and peaceful music, pleasant aromas. When choosing fish from the menu, we were told that it was out of stock and not available, as well as the chef's fish specialties, which disappointed us a little. However, we decided to try the duck confit and were quite satisfied. The place is very nice, and the waiters are very smiling, kind and qualified. Great wine and an overall feeling from the dinner.

Not great… but educational. We arranged to meet for lunch and – entirely against my nature – arrived a bit early. That immediately gave me the chance to quietly observe that communication here is a sort of experimental concept. After asking twice, the waitstaff finally managed to produce: *“only English…”* — which is fine in itself, provided that English actually exists. Reservation? “Not found.” We took a quick look at the system together: there it was, quite cheerfully, at the top. But anyway, details. Because the place was practically empty (Wednesday afternoon, no surprise), I picked out a table myself. Flexibility is important, after all. The recommended wine turned out to be sold out — a classic. Alternative: an Austrian wine with a label so blank it almost became philosophical. Question: “Could you tell me something about this?” Answer: *“no sorry… only English.”* That was starting to become a kind of running gag by now. The waiter claimed he had just started his shift, but his shirt was already due for replacement, the stains were very wrinkled, and the top four buttons were wide open. Very “macho,” a little less “restaurant service.” Then the food: there was exactly one Caesar salad left. Not classic, but it did have about half a chicken on it. Taste? Fine. Really — nothing to complain about. The place itself: decorated in a modern classic style, looks good. Quiet, almost serene even — although an empty place naturally helps with that too. **In short:** Good food, bad service. Too casual, no Dutch and no functional English either. Inventory management seems like an afterthought. The staff visibly have no idea what they are doing. But hey — it is a nice place.

Went out for a nice dinner with my brother. Had a delicious meal and friendly service. Definitely worth repeating.

Got them to use the vegan patty on the blue cheese burger- which made me happy but to be honest I could have just eaten the Camembert and bread- so good!! If you are a fan of glazed carrots also a good side. Had no room for dessert or even finish the bottomless fries!! And the Moscow mule went down to easy!!

We came to the restaurant, a group of 5 young adults, the waitress was arrogant and ignored us the whole time, it was a very uncomfortable situation. The food was pleasant, no presentation of the food, which we thought there would be.

One of my go to places in Amsterdam. Classic seafood and reinvented dishes. Great drinks and wine list. Worth a stop and reservations are needed in the weekends.

Delicious breakfast with an amazing mimosa. The waitress was genuinely friendly. Not fake. The interior is really beautiful. When we are in Amsterdam again, we will definitely stop by again.

Before our visit to the Rijksmuseum, we visited Red and had a 'classic breakfast' with a delicious mimosa. A tasty macaron came with the coffee. The service – a young woman speaking English – was genuinely super friendly. We would love to come back again.

Food is not ok - burnt burgerbread totally black - how do you think it’s acceptable to serve that - are u blind ? No we were not with three persons , we never stated that. Why let us wait for 30 minutes? No there is no law in the Netherlands stating you can’t serve medium rare burgers. That a restaurants choice , educate yourself . The restaurant it self smells poorly, not ventilated well. Furniture is old and shabby. Do not eat here people.

I had an amazing evening. It was during the week so it was calm and with great atmosphere. Both waiters were incredibly friendly and professional. The food was great especially the rib eye steak 10/10 would repeat.

Very romantic place, which situated in historic center of Amsterdam. We were happy to visit this place. Food and drinks are great and prices are a bit higher than average, which is a good thing. Definitely will visit again next time

As a Chef I would simply praise my colleague and I would be happy to come again. I certainly got a recommendation, from a professor at the university, not from a tourist, and I am very satisfied, as is my daughter. A little more amenities would be even nicer, but any recommendation.

I’ve been to Restaurant Red before, as well as Black and Blue, and my past experiences were okay. Nothing bad, nothing standout. This visit was similar food-wise, but the overall experience stayed positive because of the service. It was a pleasant evening, and I ordered the escargot, carpaccio, and burger. The carpaccio was disappointing. It looked pale and lacked the freshness I usually expect. As someone who often orders carpaccio, this one didn’t land and felt like it had been prepared earlier. The burger looked fine on the outside. The bread and vegetables were decent, but the patty was cold inside, which took away from what could have been a solid dish. The escargot was the highlight. I’m not an expert, but it was enjoyable and clearly better executed than the other dishes. What really stood out was Ivan. His energy was genuinely great. Warm, attentive, and natural. He made us feel welcome without trying too hard, and that honestly shaped how the evening felt. He’s the main reason I’d come back. With better consistency from the kitchen, Restaurant Red could be much stronger.

Second time we came in for a drink, a very unfriendly welcome. There was clearly room, but when we told them we were just there for drinks, they said they were full. We were almost pushed out...not anymore!

The food was delicious. The staff was very friendly and regularly came to the table to check if everything was okay.

Booked for Christmas lunch, the food was good, the service was awful. Our waiter literally ignored us unless we called him (but was actively serving other customers). He forgot to place my side order. It arrived after my protein was finished. A long while after we finished our mains he cleared our table and asked if we'd like dessert. We waited for 20 mins for dessert menus, which never came. I had to ask a different waiter for menus. He never returned to our table despite the restaurant quieting down significantly. Then we were approached by who I assume is the manager she very "politely" asked if we were going to order anything since we can only have the table for another 30 mins. To which I responded that we have been waiting for someone to take our dessert order for over 20 mins. She then took our order and avoided us for the next 30 mins and guess what ... the dessert never arrived. My husband then got up and asked for the bill. They ended up giving us our 3 coffees 'on the house'. It is the first time I have ever left a restaurant without tipping. Even though the food was good, I will never go back to this restaurant. It felt awful being ignored and was overall a terrible experience

We had a wonderful dinner at Restaurant Red. The staff was very friendly and attentive, the food was excellent (Surf & Turf, Lamb, Salad) and we enjoyed the general atmosphere. Will be back for sure!

I was at this restaurant a year ago. It was good then. Tonight we had surf and turf here. The meat was cold, and we saw and ordered tiramisu on the menu. I've never seen tiramisu like this in a restaurant: individual ladyfingers and a small dish of chocolate sauce and whipped cream. I had to make the tiramisu myself.

A lovely, tastefully decorated restaurant I stumbled upon. A well-thought-out menu. The meat was cooked to perfection. The spätzle were divine. And the service was very pleasant! Go without hesitation.

We walked in on a Monday evening, driven simply by hunger — and the sight of a full dining room on Monday evening felt like the best possible choice. The restaurant more than lived up to expectations: both the food and the service were impeccable. The tuna tartare was among the finest I have ever tasted, and the sole was cooked to absolute perfection!

The lobster has had no taste and had been dryed out. One should eat them fresh at the coast only...

The restaurant is very cozy and elegant. We ordered the full breakfast and it was truly delicious and very complete! We stumbled upon it while walking and it didn't disappoint at all!

The food is fantastic, a must go restaurant in Amsterdam. I just recommend not sitting very close to the entrance because the place gets quickly full and the guests waiting can be bumping your chair all the time. Besides that, 5 stars in all ways!

This restaurant is so cute and places on a nice little corner. The atmosphere is so cozy and welcoming and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The food we ordered was divine I ordered the lamb shack and my partner ordered the burger. The service was also very fast but nice paced. I would absolutely recommend if you want a cozy dinner on a little corner in the city centre!

On November 5th, 2025, on the last day of a short trip to Amsterdam, I went to Restaurant Red for what I was hoping was going to be nice lunch with my mother. Unfortunately, though the food was not too bad taste-wise and the restaurant had some nice decorations up for the holidays, the service was very disappointing. First, we had to wait longer than expected for both a waiter to come take our order and then waiting just as long for our food to come out. Though the food did not taste bad - I did like the lemon sauce in the lemon sole dish and the french fries, my mother and I were more than appalled and disgusted to find a spider in our caesar salad! We had eaten a portion of it prior and was about to eat more when all of a sudden we had seen that a spider had landed on the dish from the ceiling. When we called the waitress over to see it, she was confused about what we wanted to do with the dish and said, "I could throw it away?" It would seem that she assumed we would still be eating it?? But what also should be of note is how my mother (who was seated facing the door at our table next to the window) told me she just watched the waitress simply toss the spider off the salad dish out the door of the restaurant and then bring the salad back into the kitchen. After waiting about 20 minutes, she had not come back to the table. My mother was shocked that she had not come back to at least offer an apology, if not an offer of compensation. But no. So, when my mother was coming back from the bathroom and saw another server standing close by, she immediately brought up the issue of the spider just as she had told the other server/waitress. And that she never came back to the table nor did she offer any apology on behalf of the restaurant. This server did slightly apologize but only offered us the option of a redoing of a HALF order of the salad for us. My mother was surprised and frustrated that this was also they offered to remedy the situation but in the end let them make the half order anyways figuring that if it was all we were going to get, we might as well take it. When she came back to the table, she relayed what had happened with the server and expressed her shock at how poorly they handled the situation and I agreed wholeheartedly. Especially when we were thinking about where the spider could have come from - if the servers were possibly thinking that we put the spider there ourselves for some reason so they only gave us a half portion back, I had looked around the tables from where we were sitting and noticed with revulsion large area of uncleared spider webs on the ceiling above a window near the front of the restaurant.

The food is delicious and the portions are ample.

We only came in for a snack (fries) and some coffee. Generally people were nice and you get a tiny delicious macaron with your coffee, but there was this lady that rolled her eyes every time I'd signal that we were ready to order. And they were not THAT busy.

We ordered the rib-eye steak, and it was delicious; they cooked it just right. The atmosphere was elegant and beautiful, and the appetizers were just as delicious as the main courses.
