La Luna Steakhouse Grill in De Weteringschans

We entered the "La Luna" restaurant on the evening of 12/31 without a reservation. The owner Mario welcomed us and made us sit in a very friendly and warm way. We ate Argentinian meat, quality, fresh and good, excellently cooked, with good side dishes too. The location was very nice, welcoming and clean. We returned for another evening despite the many clubs in the area. Recommended for all those who love meat.

We stumbled upon it by chance on New Year's Eve and it was a great surprise. The meat was very good, the Argentinian wine was excellent and the staff were very helpful. The owner Mario was particularly attentive to our needs, kind and very nice. We came back because it's worth it. The VS cognac recommended by Mario is excellent Highly recommended

Food very tasty, staff very friendly, allowed to try different sauces. Dogs are welcome, the only thing in the restaurant wasn't that warm. Would love to come back.

I ended up here via The Fork. It is near the Leidse Plein The food was delicious and because I had to leave on time, the service was faster. When it is busy, you may have to wait quite a long time as there are only 2 people working, 1 in the kitchen and 1 in service.

Serveur très gentil mais arnaque convenablement avec sa gentillesse. On commande 2 cocas zéros (6€ pièce pour un coca servi au verre et presque plat), guacamole acide (on a fait la remarque mais sur la note, aucun geste) , on prend chacun un rib eye et là la magie opère… vous prenez de la salade, des frites? Bam, petite salade insipide à 7,50€ et 10 frites à 9€! la viande était bonne mais pas non plus exceptionnelle. Bref, j’aurais préféré qu’il augmente le prix de la viande que nous faire payer frites et salade en supplément. Dégoûtés de se faire arnaquer en beauté.

Onion soup, Argentinian sausage, Argentinian veal fillet, baked potato with garlic sauce and everything bursting with flavor.

Food was DELICIOUS. Friendly service, nice tent to meet up with family and friends. Definitely worth repeating. I forgot to take pictures of my dishes because of the fun. As a starter I had two empanadas de carne (pastries with meat), and the main course was the Plato Porteno. Well prepared!

Delicious food with very friendly, hard-working and enthusiastic staff... highly recommended. Had Beef Lomo, burger and spareribs.

Alguien en mi equipo sería una buena idea tener la cena justo en el centro de Amsterdam, así que nos fuimos. La selección de los elementos del menú eran alimentos, y también mi bistec. No estaba tan ocupado y en algún momento me di cuenta de que el personal estaba parado frente al restaurante hablando con los transeúntes y tratando de que comieran. Para mí, eso es un absoluto apagado, ya que me niego a comer en restaurantes donde el personal está afuera con tarjetas de menú para atraer a la gente. En general fue una buena experiencia, pero la “gente atractiva en la cosa” fue una gran molestia, ya que no creo que comer en restaurantes que hace esta práctica.

Pedimos un filete de 300 g con papas fritas. El filete estaba muy bueno, así como las patatas fritas. El dueño era muy agradable. Los precios son bajos, especialmente para los filetes.

We booked based on Trip Advisor recommendations and it did not disappoint. Steak was absolutely phenomenal, by far the nicest Ive had. Its on a busy little street with lots of other restaurants, it was very quiet when we arrived but so glad we didn't walk past. If we had found it the first night we would have been back for the last night!

The owner is very friendly, hospitable, and is happy to provide additional information about the menu. The entrecote is tender, has a good taste, is cooked perfectly as desired, and is very good value for money. Highly recommended! The chimmichurri is also very good.

Meat was perfect . Side dishes were very small and basic, but priced too high. 200ml if water at 4eur? You must be joking. So service is nice, but you get the feeling they are robbing you. I usually tip generously. This time I left nothing.

Would come again. I had a 300g rump steak and it was amazing. And the staff is awesome. Great energy!

The welcome is very warm! I was still expecting a little more quantity for a meal that cost me €30, the plate is quite light. The meat is good though.

It started on a good note with a pleasant and attentive welcome. The meat is good, you have to give them credit for that. On the other hand, when the bill comes (which is brought to us almost backwards) the surprise is great. Everything is charged extra, from the sauce to the bread, and the drinks are way too expensive (whiskey and coke is double the price of whiskey).. in short, wasted experience, and the impression of having been ripped off with a smile . With all due respect, those that gave a five star review must not have ever eaten a proper steak. I recently dined at La Luna, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired, particularly regarding the quality of the steaks. I ordered the sirloin steak, which turned out to be incredibly tough and essentially inedible. Even with the sharpest knife, it was a struggle to cut through, and the flavor was far from what one would expect at this price point. My companion ordered the filet steak, and while we were hopeful it would fare better, it was served cold in the middle. Not only was it underwhelming in flavor, but the uneven cooking made it nearly impossible to enjoy. Adding to the disappointment, out of the four tables in the dining area, two tables, including ours, complained about the food. As an apology for the bad steaks, those two tables were given complimentary shots of alcohol. While the gesture was appreciated, it didn’t fully make up for the subpar dining experience. Overall, the ambiance and service were fine, but the quality of the food, particularly the steaks, fell far short of expectations. I hope the restaurant can address these issues to avoid disappointing more patrons in the future.

There are other prices online. The boss was already waiting for us outside because we made a reservation. We found that really creepy and intrusive as he directly knew the information we provided. We were fooled by the images on Google. Everything looked completely different in the store. I wouldn't even call it a restaurant, more like a fast food joint. The prices are really a joke and the employees were extremely dubious. The only shop on the street was completely empty. We couldn't even get there properly. They tried to sell us expensive wine and we were asked several times within 2 minutes if everything was okay. Very intrusive, we didn't feel comfortable.

Small portions and expensive for what you get. Other places have better value. Despite we also ordered wine, when we asked for tap water, this was refused. Only expensive water from a bottle is served, which is not only environmentally unfriendly, but very unusual in Amsterdam these days.

We visited this lovely steakhouse for my 60th birthday while visiting Amsterdam. The 400g Fillet steak was cooked (medium) to perfection and came with Chips and a side salad and I ordered pepper sauce. My wife had a 400g Sirloin was cooked very nicely (medium-well) just as she likes it. We booked quite early in the evening (19:30pm) so were the only people in the place but were looked after very well by the waitress and the owner.

Good dinner and kind service. Not so much fresh meat, but well seasoned and cooked. Related to Amsterdam prices, this was acceptable if you take a normal portion of meat.

Absolutely amazing dinner, the steaks were perfectly cooked and everything tasted superb. Two of their staff called out so it was a two man show which slowed down the service, but the owner/head chef was amazing and tried to be as attentive as possible. Overall an absolutely amazing experience!

From the moment we arrived, the waitress was very friendly and advised us on dishes from the menu. Afterwards, the owner came over to chat for a moment and get our impressions of the food. He really is a charming man and a great cook. Highly recommended!

The meat was hard. The accompanying salad too small (read: absent). Onion rings not good. Sauce very expensive. All in all a very expensive exercise for a bad dinner.

The meat I had (entrecote) was very good. My friend's meat was very undercooked though so he only at half of it. The prices in the restaurant are about 8 euros more expensive than they promote on their website. It's quite misleading.

Cena a base di carne argentina di cui abbiamo assaggiato tagli differenti, molto buoni. Titolare cordiale che, con un po' di italiano, ci ha dato consigli e spiegazioni sui vari piatti. Possibilità di mangiare anche all'esterno sui tavoli disposti lungo la strada, dove passeggiano le persone ma pochissime macchine in transito. The place for meat lovers! We had an excellent service with nice easy music. We had a great wine (the house wine, a Malbec) a 2 superb steaks! The steaks are grilled on a fine grill with small grill marks (which is the good healthy way). The fries were good too, as well as the creamed patato! As a dessert we had the mango ice with tequila poored over. Never had the combination but its highly recommendable! Not to forget the waiter was very friendly and helpful! Go here when you in Amsterdam.

I am a frequent visitor to Amsterdam and always make it a point to stop by this cozy bistro near the Leidseplein...this trip I got to stop by for both a drink and an appetizer but then again the next night for dinner... The owner/host/waiter/cook all as one is as convivial a person as you would care to meet in life. He is willing to go off menu to ensure that your dining experience is 5 star worthy. He is also willing to adjust portion size so food will not go to waste... Make it a point to stop there at least for a glass of Tempranillo...but the food will NOT disappoint... Meal (al fresco)... Chicken wings with his amazing house made hot sauce Shrimp perfectly grilled again with a house made dipping sauce 300g Sirloin grilled to a perfect medium rare served with his homemade cream mushroom sauce as well as his savory chimichurri... Grilled corn Frites All in was 120 EU with a tip...

The food was very raw and you had to wait forever. Unfortunately it was a very bad experience, although the reviews suggested otherwise….

Food nothing more, not bad but not great. Nice staff, until almost being bribed for a good review on Google. The atmosphere was brought by the staff who were friendly but the restaurant was empty. Finally, the prices are not very clear (we had to pay for the sauces for the meat (2.25) + the bread at the start of the meal (5.80!)

La Luna was the best meal of our trip and it was so yummy. The homemade empanada's are exceptional and the Steaks are truly cooked to perfection. Its a small restaurant but it truly brilliant service, the chef/owner/waiter was so attentive. We were visiting as part of our Friends stag and he was just excellent, really took care of us and made my friend remember the experience with the celebrations at the end. We also had a Vegan as part of our group and he really enjoyed his food. Couldn't recommend this place enough. Next time i'm in Amsterdam, I'll be back for sure!

Top service from the very friendly owner, who also served next door and was in the kitchen. Meat was very tender, but the first time 1 of us had the mix Grill. 2 pieces were not completely cooked medium rare, but this was solved very well by the friendly owner and we received new pieces of steak. The house wine that the owner recommended to us was super tasty, he gave us good advice. thanks for the beautiful evening!

We got misled by the google reviews because it wasn’t that great. We asked for tap water for which we were told we could only have a bottle. The steaks were not worth the money. The waiting times were too long as the person serving was also doing the cooking and everything else in the restaurant. Overall wouldn’t recommend.

After 38 years on this earth, having visited all the continents... this is the worst scam I have seen... The “food” is just passable…the quantities are very questionable… On the other hand, everything is extra and that’s the scam… Literally, we paid €9.6 for 3 salad leaves and a dozen frozen fries to accompany the meat…

Zeer gezellig restaurant. De uitbater is een heel vriendelijk man die ontzettend zijn best doet om het je naar je zin te maken. Tevens smaakt het eten heerlijk. Een grote aanrader om dit restaurant zeker te bezoeken en lekker te eten.

The steak was very good 👍 But it took a long time and there was no one else in the restaurant so felt a bit odd.

Nice place with a super friendly owner(?). The spareribs were super, slightly sweet (yummie!)! The chicken wings starter were also very great. The shrimps (starter) and the lamb chops (main) were not that great. The shrimps missed flavour. The lamb should have been more medium or medium/rare. But still would go back for the spareribs and maybe try a steak (the specialty).

La Luna blijft een heerlijk restaurant om te komen. 5 jaar geleden voor het eerst ontdekt en nog steeds uitmuntende kwaliteit. De eigenaar is een hele vriendelijke man die heel erg zijn best doet het 100% goed te doen en je naar het zin te maken. Jammer dat je geen 10 sterren kan geven anders had ik dat gedaan. Meestal staat er salsa muziek op en word er een kaarsje aangestoken voor de gezelligheid.

Service was stylish and we felt like royalty, the food was delicious and the argentinian chimichurri sauce was the best ever! Suggestion: ask for two extra King Prawns they are amazing and just 2 leaves you wanting more they are superb. The steaks were perfectly cooked and I am hard to please in that regard. The experience was perfect, wine was good and we will come back to Amsterdam and visit this place again for sure. Highly recommend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This place is amazing. We went for a friend's birthday meal and the steak was some of the best I've ever had. Expertly cooked to perfection, with the best service ever, and as it was a week night it was all produced by a one man show, bit you'd never have noticed as he was so attentive to our every need. The owner/chef/waiter is a total legend and made our night. I'd highly recommend the chimichurri, which is home made and totally excellent.

La Luna is my favorite Argentinian restaurant in Amsterdam. I ordered the pork ribs and my husband ordered the steak. They are both delicious. We both love our meal. Don’t forget to order the garlic bread, too. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend this place.
