waiting so long for just simple orders

Being French, I can tell you this restaurant isn't a 5-star, it's a 1-star. The staff is unfriendly and very cold. Unbuttoned shirts and sneakers are unprofessional for a 5-star establishment. The food is decent, but the fries are a major drawback. Again, a 5-star restaurant wouldn't serve frozen fries; they should be fresh. The music is too loud, so people talk loudly, resulting in a very high decibel level. Again, this isn't a 5-star establishment. The prices are excessive: 100g of meat for 13 euros, a 75cl bottle of water for 7 euros, and bread with butter for 6.5 euros. And to top it all off, we had to ask for the tip, as the waiter took the change himself.

The carpaccio was incredible, and the picanha steak was absolutely perfect!

What a fantastic experience at Vlees & Co! A beautiful, very atmospheric restaurant that exudes luxury. If you love meat, this is the place to be! Wonderful cuts from all corners of the world. This restaurant doesn't tread the beaten path (for example, there is no meat from Argentina on the menu) but features meat from unexpected places, such as Spain, Finland, Sweden, and also the Netherlands! And how flavorful! Everything was deliciously prepared and presented. We chose, among others, the Spanish Iberico rib fingers and the Finnish striploin. A delight for the taste buds. Everything was warmly accompanied by our meat sommelier, who made us feel more than welcome and guided us through our selection. That wasn't easy, because you want to taste and try everything! So we will definitely be back!

This by far the best place I’ve been to in Amsterdam. In simple words, it’s a five-star restaurant. Elegant and delicious. It has to be in your list while visiting this city! It’s a must! The food is decent and is well-presented. The staff are all friendly and welcoming with a smile, which is rare especially in busy cities like Amsterdam, which is packed with tourists. Enjoyed so much my experience there and will definitely recommend it to everyone!

The food took way too long; waited almost 1.5 to 2 hours for the meat.

We visited a restaurant called "Vlees & Co" (which basically means "Meat & Company" in English) in Amsterdam Noord. I'd noticed it about a year ago in one of the newer neighborhoods up there, and even from the outside it had struck me as a really lovely, well-decorated spot with a gorgeous terrace right on the water. It's a steakhouse, so yesterday we finally decided to go with some friends. Normally you can't reserve a table on the terrace, which had me a bit worried because it was a really warm day and we were hoping to sit outside by the water. But luckily, when we arrived, we got a spot on the terrace right away for our group of seven. The terrace is absolutely wonderful, and the interior is beautifully decorated as well. Great choice of materials, very charming. But that terrace on the water really steals the show. We ordered a Chateaubriand, some Sirloin F1 Wagyu AUS, and a bavette, plus a couple of kids' meals with chicken nuggets. We also had a nice bottle of red wine. The meat was top-notch, really excellent quality. As for sauces, we tried their chimichurri and something they call the "Butter of the Gods," which is basically bone marrow served right in the bone so you can spread it like butter, delicious. Everything was served with fries on the side, and the meat came on little grills to keep it warm while you share. The bavette was small. It should have weigh about 200 grams, to me it looked a bit on the small side if you're really hungry, but the person who had it didn't complain. We split the Chateaubriand and Wagyu between three adults and a child, and that also looked not too much to eat for hungry people, but in the end we filled up with fries, fried mushrooms, and some desserts. Speaking of desserts, we had the Vlees&Co x Patrick Wu signature desset: a brownie with chocolate, caramel banana tamarind, and bacon (amazing!), a cheesecake, and the yuzu passion fruit cake that was super fresh and tangy. All in all, the food was delicious, the place was beautiful, and the service was good, not five-star luxury service, but definitely nothing to complain about. I'll probably be back next time I’m in the mood for some really good steak!

Beautiful ambiance upon arrival and pleasant seating outside by the water. Inside, of course, you are also well catered for. We were assisted by Oscar this evening, and he was extremely friendly and professional. Unfortunately, the meat experience was not available, but Oscar suggested good alternatives. If you are dining specifically for this experience, I recommend calling to ask if this package is still available to avoid disappointment; nevertheless, the dishes were top-notch! We will definitely be back.

Unfortunately, I have to give 3 stars this time. We ate here last year and it was truly excellent! That is why we invited two friends this time, assuming it would be just as good. Unfortunately, the service was very disappointing. The table etiquette was not what we are used to. The service from the young lady was good, but the young man who served us occasionally made mistakes. Every time he raised his arm, a large sweat stain was visible under his armpit—for a restaurant, that is downright unhygienic. Additionally, our meat was served while the rest of the food had not yet arrived, causing the meat to get cold. Finally, the spoons for dessert were placed directly on the bare table, without a napkin underneath. For a total amount of €235.00, you are entitled to expect everything to be right. This is intended as constructive criticism; please make use of it.

We visited here for the first time. We were a bit disappointed. Our meat was actually already on the cold side when we started eating. Drinks and ordering also took a long time. The service did their best, but there was a shortage of staff. We won't be coming back.

We had an incredibly delicious meal, and the service was super friendly! The only minor downside was that the windows, especially on the inside, were not cleaned properly, which is important when you have a beautiful view outside.

I never thought I would have such a bad experience in Vlees &Co. We booked a dinner for a bachelor party. We were loud, but we never did anything wrong. We were refused alcohol for no reason whatsoever, since we were not drunk. And when we asked for a reason, we were told that "we are a fine dining restaurant and we can refuse to serve". What do you mean? You spiled a drink in me and people are serving like they serve in a snack bar, where are you fine dining? Was it Because we were loud? Or because we were speaking in a foreign language? This was absolutely ridiculous. Horrible experience. I will never recommend this restaurant. It's absurd. You are not fine dining in the slightest. You are a mediocre restaurant with a fine dining ego.

It was our second time there. First time everything was perfect and food was delicious Unfortunately today we are not very satisfied. Service was extremely slow even though we were first guest. My drink was not made correctly (again there were zero orders). They forgot about fries and meat was very chewy with a lot of fat. Last time service was amazing this time we didn't felt welkom

Arriving to Vlees & Co, we were quickly given a seat despite a botched reservation on my part. The menu offered a varied selection of steaks and combinations, along with affordable sides and drinks. The range steaks available meant that some options were quite affordable, while still allowing room for premium cuts. Myself and my partner ordered two of the Finnish rib-eye steaks at 300g for a low cost, cooked medium. I got a side of fries, while my partner ordered roasted bell pepper. The steak itself was the star of the show - incredibly tasty, well seasoned and perfectly charred. The fries were crispy and delicious, which left me wanting more. The roasted bell peppers were tasty and affordable, a healthy choice. Dessert was ice cream and chocolate cake, also affordable and a nice treat. Service itself was warm and friendly, albeit somewhat slow at times. The location itself is beautiful, scenic and quiet. Would recommend.

The food was really delicious. You get delicious food for a great price. However, the wait for the food was quite long. It also has a very cozy interior. I have never seen such a clean toilet in a restaurant. The staff was also very friendly.

The evening lacked everything; service by a super young guy who actually knew nothing. There was no hot water, drinks were supposed to arrive a day later. Bread baked so hard with frozen butter. The food was really bad for that price. Ordered a rare dish and actually got it done. Pointed it out and according to the kitchen that was a rare gentleman; in short, stop complaining. Dessert took almost 45 minutes, with 2 tables still in the restaurant. Coffee could no longer be ordered after 9:30 PM. It is a shame that such a nice place just falls short in every way. And that there isn't just a manager present instead of 16-year-old kids.

Upon arrival, it was assumed that our reservation had only just been placed, causing the terrace to appear full for our party of four. When it turned out that we had reserved days ago, we were fortunately given a spot on the terrace after all. Sitting outside was pleasant, although you do have to be able to tolerate the sound of roaring car and boat engines. Perhaps that is part of the Amsterdam experience. The service was friendly, but disorganized. Drinks were mixed up, orders went wrong at other tables as well, and small requests such as a clean table or extra napkins had to be repeated several times. The food was fine, but relatively too expensive for what you get. The starters were tasty, although the burrata was a bit too tough. For the main courses, the tuna steak was overcooked and the asparagus could have had more flavor. The picanha was good, although the fat rim was quite large. The mushrooms were delicious. Unfortunately, we found the portions to be on the small side; we were still hungry afterwards. The completely black-painted toilet felt very confusing to me. The doors were barely visible, which meant it didn't feel very comfortable. Despite the friendly staff, I personally won't be going there again.

Took the 400gr ribeye with sweet potato chips. It was delicious. The meat was perfectly cooked as requested. The chocolate cake for dessert was recommended to me. The service is smooth and organized.

Really enjoyed this fancy dinner. Tasted real Japanese A5 wagyu for the first time and all the clichés are true: incredibly delicious and it literally melts on your tongue. We also had a piece of Australian wagyu with it. As a starter, I tried bone marrow; it was fine, but I wouldn't have it again. The service was good.

I was served by one of the nicest waitresses I have ever met. Her name was Amy. She helped us perfectly with our questions. She knew exactly what we needed. And she was fun too! A top woman!

A hip spot in a hip neighborhood. The restaurant is located on the IJ in Amsterdam North. The restaurant has a luxurious, hotel-chic look. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is very good, especially the meat for which the restaurant is known. It is all quite pricey, but well worth it.

Eaten here for the second time. What a great experience again. The meat is truly top-notch. The menu is well thought out and offers meat selected for quality. The service and overall experience are also excellent. The staff is well-instructed and knows how to tell the story perfectly. Highly recommended.

What a letdown. Not that the food isn't tasty, but I could bake it just like that myself. So, nothing very special. The price-quality ratio is also out of balance.

Great food and a nice place. Only the waitresses were incredibly slow. They just sat there laughing and chatting with colleagues at the bar, and then we waited 20+ minutes to order. The staff were friendly, though.

The food was good. The people working there were very nice, served quickly. The meat was a bit too fatty, and probably that the sauces are separate from meat are downgrades.

The service was good, however, the meat was overdone and salty. Even the chocolate cake had salt on it, which was just a weird cacophony of flavours.

We ate at Vlees & Co yesterday. The interior is beautiful and the location is pleasant, which made for a good first impression. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. The staff knew very little about the menu; when asked if they could recommend anything, we were told several times that they hadn't tasted it themselves yet. That comes across as unprofessional. It was my husband's birthday; there was a nice "happy birthday" sign on the table, but that was it. No further attention was paid to it, nor was a congratulation even offered, which made it quite impersonal. I normally always check the bill, but I didn't this time. Afterwards, it turned out that two drinks were listed that we hadn't ordered, which is, of course, unacceptable. Also striking: when we received our dessert, we weren't asked if our son wanted anything. Only after I asked for it myself did he get a small scoop of ice cream, which was subsequently charged to the bill. The food itself was fine, but due to the service and the errors on the bill, this is not a place we would return to.

So good. Beautiful space and nice views of the water. A delicious dinner with my son.

Unfortunately, after dining at your place, all family members became ill (food poisoning). It is very unpleasant to experience this after an expensive evening meal. No more Vlees&co for us.

Pretends to be a good meat restaurant, But is of mediocre quality. The striped onion was cut from the coachman's cut. Nervous!!!! Steak tartare was actually made from bavette, but nothing was done with it and it was too small. The wine is too expensive, four times the markup for a mediocre Amarone. All in all, not recommended. Although the service was good.

Delicious meat and good service

Had another delicious meal, as always. Very good service, with a question at every course asking if everything was to our liking. When my drink ran out, a lovely waitress or waiter came within 2 minutes to ask if I wanted a new one. It might just not quite fit within a poor student's budget, but the prices aren't bad! Will definitely be back!!

It was great to do the “meat experience”. Unfortunately, it was annoying that the waiter tried to upsell every time. That is the only downside, because the food was amazing! A dream for a meat lover!

The butter from the gods was delicious. Regarding the meat, we asked for medium well done for a friend, but it wasn't even medium. We had to have it cooked again. The wine selection was adequate. The tables were nice, and the lighting was sufficient. It has a lovely atmosphere. I recommend it.

I've been coming here happily for years. The food is good, otherwise you wouldn't keep coming back. That's precisely why my birthday here was such a disappointment. My friends came especially from Rotterdam and Almere. The confirmation email apparently stated we only had 1 hour and 15 minutes because of Valentine's Day, but what was truly unacceptable was how we were treated. Within 45 minutes, we were approached three times to tell us we could "only stay until 7 p.m." The first time upon arrival, then while we were still waiting for our food, and even the owner came to repeat this. We hadn't even had a bite and were already being hounded to leave. The message was clear: we weren't guests, but a time slot. The food was still good, but the whole experience was ruined. As a regular guest, this didn't feel like appreciation, but like an obstacle. Good food alone isn't enough. Hospitality is just as important. Will I go again? I don't think so.

Best steak I've had in the Netherlands!

The food was delicious, everything tasted truly wonderful, from appetizer to dessert, everything was so incredibly delicious! And the staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. The restaurant exudes luxury and is comfortable and relaxed. We'll be back soon. It's a bit pricey, but for us, it was worth it.

Vlees & Co Amsterdam is a hidden gem in the Nieuwe Noord district. The welcome was warm, and the service throughout the evening was excellent. The food is good and very tasty. Portions are sometimes a bit small (like the steak tartare) for the price, but overall, the price-quality ratio is excellent. They're not cheap, but for that price, you really get a good value. And if you go, ask for a table in Tommy's neighborhood. He hosted us and did so with such pride and passion. His dream is to eventually own his own hotel and restaurant in Italy or Spain, and he's taking all the necessary training. It radiates from him. So, a big shout out to Tommy! We had a wonderful evening.

Delicious food! Lovely location and beautifully decorated. The hospitality could definitely use some improvement. I think a warm welcome and a goodbye upon departure are appropriate. And that consistently didn't happen. There could also be more attention at the table. Taking a quarter-full bottle with you is unacceptable. However, that doesn't detract from the friendliness of the staff.

Fantastic! We had a wonderful meal, starting with a roll of sourdough bread with "butter of the gods" butter, bone marrow, garlic, and sea salt, and the most delicious steaks ever, cooked exactly as we requested. The side dishes were also delicious, and even the gravy and pepper sauce were delicious. The pepper sauce was a bit spicy, and really didn't need any sauce. But the desserts were also fantastic. It was all simply perfect.

Good meat, bad service. The meat was delicious, but I had to order every drink multiple times. Especially annoying when you've already had your meat and still haven't received any red wine.

I had the best time as a solo diner here. My server Bo (or Beau 🫣) was amazing. She extended great patience and gave me some really helpful recommendations. The food was amazing, the bread was warm and the crunch of the crust was such a delight! The only thing was, I was offered the bread whilst I waited only to realise I had been charged for it at the end, but since it was really good it was okay. The Ribeye was melt in your mouth and the dressing on the Caesar salad was to die for. Overall I had such a relaxing, friendly experience. Thank you for making my birthday dinner so lovely. :)

We ordered 5 different types of meat with a group, and they were all of excellent quality and flavorful. The service was good, polite, and cheerful.

We ate here yesterday and it was truly delicious. Everything was perfect, from the appetizers to the dessert. The service was friendly and good, and the atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy. We will definitely be back!

Service was great and staff super friendly - although they constantly upsell you, which was annoying after finding out that bread and butter is almost 7 euro, and water 6.5. Selection of meats and beverages is great, but the good experience stopped there. The 600gr dry aged steak was 50% bone, undercooked and with no salt in sight. Fries were quite obviously not made in house, which is to be expected from a steakhouse, and the peppers were also undercooked. Overall do not recommend, save your cash and go somewhere else.

This is truly amazing food...not for vegans. The pork belly starter is out of this world. We also had a fantastic Christmas dinner...two years in a row now.

The food was delicious. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was friendly.

The food is good there. Delicious meat, prepared just the way you like it (medium/rare). The appetizers and desserts are also delicious. It's a cozy, atmospheric place with a lovely terrace.

🚨 The price-quality ratio is completely out of whack. Appetizers (sukade) cost 20 euros, which is no more than 2-3 teaspoons of meat. Then I ordered 850 grams of meat. At Vlees en Co, that means 1/3 inedible fat + 1/3 bone, then 1/3 meat and a huge mountain of fries. You even have to pay for water. Ultimately, I'm 170 euros lighter and leave ravenously hungry. Moreover, this restaurant is run by teenagers who have little understanding of hospitality or how to interact with guests. Go to Pelusa (across the street) or Bacalar (a 5-minute walk), but save your time, money, and effort going to this monstrosity of a restaurant. 🚨

We were celebrating a birthday, there were four of us. Three ordered meat and one ordered fish. Everyone who ordered meat felt sick after the meal.

Amazing dining experience, absolutely delicious steaks and good service

Good quality food, nice location, quiet atmosphere, though crowded. The waiter repeatedly promised a starter of bread with some meat, but never received a response. We only asked for a drink once. Furthermore, the service took a very long time.

The place is nice and tidy but the service is bad they refused to seat us in the outdoor seating in a bad way and very bad treatment. We left and did not order

The steak was especially well-prepared, fresh and without any tendons. The only downside was that not every server was equally good. Overall, though, it's a good restaurant and highly recommended.

I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of respect these employees show towards their neighbors. We've contacted the restaurant several times to ask if the music could be turned down. Yet, the problem persists: after closing time, they continue to make noise and even play music outside, sometimes for an hour. This has been going on for quite some time, and we're experiencing a lot of inconvenience at home. Our one-year-old son often can't fall asleep because of the noise. It's extremely disruptive and disrespectful. I honestly hope winter arrives soon, so the outdoor area can no longer be used and we can finally have some peace and quiet again. Don't get me wrong: I know there's noise from guests dining or smoking outside; that's just part of the experience. But a little tolerance and respect from the staff towards our neighbors would be truly appreciated.

What a wonderful experience! I highly recommend it. The decor is beautiful, and the cozy atmosphere makes it perfect. And the meat? Velvet on your tongue! Every bite was a delight. The sandwich was also delicious. We'll definitely be back for more!

The Iberico spare ribs were perfect. Exceeded expectation, which was pretty high. Tender, flavorful, generous portion. Yum! The mini Caesar salad was also a delightful surprise. The quail eggs and finely shaved Parmesan really made for a wonderful bite. Lovely at sunset. Tucked away. Aaahhh…

We had a delicious meal tonight at a lovely location in Amsterdam, with very friendly service. Definitely recommended if you, as the name suggests, love meat.

We eat here every year for my son's birthday (yesterday included) and sometimes in between. And the food, especially the meat, is always top-notch! It's also worth mentioning that my daughter is vegetarian (no meat, but fish) and loves the salmon or Camembert :-). So that makes for a wonderful dinner every time. The service is fantastic, friendly, and attentive, even when it comes to the little things. So, if someone orders a Coke, we always have to discuss which one. While it's often just served (Pepsi or Coca-Cola, or something else—a minor detail for some, but for Coca-Cola lovers... :-) ). Highly recommended!

A "hidden gem". Very tasty food in a hidden spot. Really recommended. With starters like steak tartare and carpaccio a good start. Excellent bavette, delicious tenderloin and in my case an incredibly tasty grilled Camembert. Delicious side dishes like green asparagus, fried mushrooms, fries with cheese. The colleagues with the salmon steak were also very satisfied. Definitely back again.

Meat is art and Vlees & Co Amsterdam certainly knows what art is. The spare ribs came off the bone easily, the bavette and rib eye were deliciously tender, the signature dessert consisted of special flavors that were surprisingly delicious together. In short, a treat! The ambiance is quiet, which makes for a nice dinner. The service was relaxed, sometimes a bit too relaxed, but if you approach them they are happy to help you. For the spare ribs, a grill plate with coals is good to keep the meat warm, but for other pieces of meat there is a chance that it will overcook. Fortunately, that was not the case with us and it gave a nice presentation.

This was honestly the best steak I have ever had which says something coming from Australia. This was so good that we HAD to thank chef Noah personally who was nothing but amazing and so kind. I also recommend having the veal sauce with the steak. Not only was the steak cooked perfectly, our server Santana was also incredible and attentive. Although it’s a little out of Amsterdam city, I 100% recommend you making the trip.

Food and service unacceptable slow (1,5 hour). Was not allowed to sit outside although terrace was half empty. Lot of operational problems with this place. We overheard all kind of problems from other guests while in this restaurant (wrong food/cold fries etc). End at the end we went sick (meat not fresh). We payed €120, it was all a waste.

Our experience at this restaurant was not very pleasant. The girl who served us was very surly and not nice. She responded very briefly to everything and showed no interest. We asked for a fanta and the waitress responded with “I have sisi”, not very polite! The food was tasty, but we had a piece of meat that was completely overcooked. Another sweet server resolved this well with us. The rest of the staff was very nice except for that one grumpy girl.
