A beautiful, spacious place. Kid-friendly. I gave it a 4* for the disappointing brioche bun with a poached egg that didn't even taste poached.

Great food and beautiful design. However, one big issue: lack of high chairs for babies/small children. Not sure if it's an explicit goal to discourage families from coming there, but it's certainly doesn't feel very welcoming, which is especially weird for a place located next to the zoo.

The terrace and the ambiance were top-notch. We found most of the food okay, but not spectacular. The medium beef tenderloin was only slightly rare in the middle; the rest was well-done. We had ordered a large ravioli. This was already a fairly small portion, and the ravioli turned out to be undercooked after we tried two of them; they were not tasty. When we mentioned this, to our surprise, we were told that we would receive a small portion back after they took the plate back. I have never experienced anything like this in a restaurant. That you receive nothing back for the part of a poorly prepared dish that was eaten because you tried it anyway, and only receive a new, better-prepared dish for the part you left behind (in this case, even less). Then you clearly haven't understood the concept as a restaurant.

Invitation to ARTIS this afternoon for the new Aquarium. First, grabbing a quick drink here—or so we thought. After quite some time, still no one to take our order. Note: there were more staff walking around than customers. Staff mostly occupied with each other. Just left the place, so the staff could get on with their own business...

A beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere, super friendly service, and a delicious breakfast! We had the croissant with butter and jam, and shared a yogurt with dried fruit and honey! They also had a great selection of coffees! We ate here twice during our city trip!

This restaurant, De Plantage, is situated in a unique spot, right next to Artis. We had a delicious meal here with a group of people. I found it to be an experience!

Dinner at De Plantage last night was outstanding. The pork shoulder was incredibly tender and packed with flavor, the steak was cooked perfectly, and the lamb was absolutely excellent — every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The atmosphere strikes that rare balance of elevated and comfortable, with a gorgeous setting that makes the entire experience feel special without being pretentious. On top of that, the service was exceptional from start to finish: attentive, polished, and genuinely welcoming. Easily one of our favorite dining experiences in Amsterdam. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an upscale dinner with fantastic food and ambiance.

This huge restaurant, housed in a former greenhouse, has been superbly renovated. It also boasts a lovely terrace. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. The service was a little slow, but that's forgivable given how busy it was that weekend. A very pleasant surprise.

The food and the atmosphere is great. Didn’t have such a great experience last time I was there though. Our waiter vanished after bringing our food and no replacement came for another hour, and then once a waiter appeared poor service resumed. A pity for my visitors, as I have had good experiences here before.

The place is really nice. The service is below average. The food nothing special compared to other brunch places. The restaurant manager is unfriendly, pretentious and has no clue of what customers care means. I would recommend just for the architecture of the place and a coffee.

Predictable good and next to the zoo!

Had a fantastic experience. Luxurious and professional, yet approachable and cozy. I visited here on a Saturday during the May holidays for a first meeting. We started with a drink on the terrace, and later we were politely informed that service on the terrace was stopping and that we could go inside if we wanted to continue our drinks. We asked the hostess for a spot, who directed us to the bar. This really did the 'bar' space a disservice; we were able to sit comfortably in a two-person booth, and they quickly checked if we were still being served. The staff was friendly, sociable, and knew the right moments to serve us. They also knew how to give good advice about the menu. After a few drinks, we decided we wanted something small to eat, so we ordered the ravioli with fennel sausage. I wasn't sure if it would be my thing, but WOW, incredibly delicious; afterwards, I regretted not ordering the large portion. The small portion consisted of about 4 ravioli with garnish, just enough to satisfy our hunger in combination with the beautiful Padron peppers and luxury bitterballen from earlier. Finally, we finished the evening with a delicious, smooth tequila (yes, that really exists). We were both pleasantly surprised and truly enjoyed ourselves!

It is a real shame that I cannot give more than 2 stars. First of all, staff; I get the GenZ saga, but please pay attention to your customers. You were busy with literally nothing; talking to each other behind the bar and making absolutely no eye contact with the clients is a disgrace. The hostess deserves a refresher; I have no idea what she is doing. The food is meager; if you offer Turkish food, at the very least more pita bread should have gone with a shakshuka, because there was a lot of sauce left over. If it had been busy, I would have understood, but it wasn't. What a pity! A supervisor who keeps an eye on everything would be great; once again, I ask that the Asian/Dutch hostess receive a refresher.

I dined at De Plantage today. The menu was a challenge: I had to look up almost everything on Google, but I didn't mind. Unusual flavor combinations, I enjoyed the dishes, and the portions were small. A nice experience.

I ate at this restaurant with a friend during my stay in Amsterdam. From the welcome to the meal and the farewell, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The service and the food were excellent. The only minor drawback was that it was a bit noisy for me, as everything is located in a kind of large hall. Nevertheless, I would gladly return.

De Plantage is set in a beautiful conservatory right next to Artis (Amsterdam Zoo) and is especially lovely on a sunny day/warm evening. I would recommend it for both inside and terrace, just a great place overall. Outside is especially great with kids in summer as they can play in the fountains, so bring an extra set of dry cloths:-)

Had a lunch there. Oysters - not the best, but ok Fish soup - was great Toasted pita with tuna - very good Wines, red and white were good. Prices - rather higher end, but acceptable. Good service, very nice building and view, atmosphere ok, a bit on a noisy side. Negative sides. There were some works IN the restaurant ongoing, tree being installed. I would think it could have been done before or after clients are actually having meals. The most disappointing and kind of strange issue was a charge for water. We have been asked if we want water. It was supposedly just water, nothing special. After getting check I found there was a charge of 0.95 euro for water. It's a first time I see such a thing. I believe, the restaurant will claim that they charge symbolic price for the service, to bring you water to the table or whatever. To be sure, prices are a prerogative of the restaurant. Even having that in mind, I would say it's very problematic to do so in such a place.

My husband and I expected good food based on the reviews of this place, but sadly it was a huge disappointment. The atmosphere was great, and the service was decent, though slow. We started with the fish soup and lentil soup, which were just okay. The lentil soup tasted like Mexican beans, and the fish soup was not good at all. I do not recommend it. The oysters and bread were good, though. Those were the only highlights. Our server recommended the pork cheeks entree which was not my cup of tea. My husband ordered the steak medium, but it came out medium rare. Steak was dry, and the sides were so so, although we did enjoy the bone marrow that came with it. I know Amsterdam is very tolerant of many things, but they sat down a dog in the booth next to me and it made me lose my appetite. ☹️

Despite having a reservation, it started with a wait at the entrance, followed by very slow service at the table. Both ordering drinks and serving the food took a long time. Because the water carafes are on the small side, the slow service also leaves you thirsty all evening. To top it all off, I got sick (stomach flu) after eating the pork cheeks…

I really liked the atmosphere, but the menu didn't capture my attention. The dishes are very international but too unique for my tastes. The service staff are friendly.

The food is amazing, started of with the Oysters and had Red Mullet as a main, very well prepared and all tasted delicious! Point of attention, I used the lavatory and they where absolutely disgusting, when I reported this to an employee, she told me, “oh this is not my departement, tell someone else” Euh? I’m a guest here it certainly is not my department:) I’m just letting you know:)

We almost didn't go after reading the reviews. We were with a couple of friends and had a great time. The food was super tasty; I had the terrine as a starter and the pork cheek as a main course. The always critical Alexandra was very impressed with all the dishes. The service could have been a bit warmer, but I enjoyed myself very much. I found the prices normal: €14 for a starter of a delicious terrine and €25 for delicious, tender pork cheeks. The wine we drank, Rully, was €50, which is a very reasonable price compared to another restaurant we like to visit. In short, just go and enjoy a nice meal at De Plantage. Beautiful location, delicious food at a great price.

Great location, great food, nice people!

I don't know how the food is, because I only had a glass of wine and some olives in the terrace. But OH to drink a glass of wine in that terrace, it felt like heaven.

The menu is hardly subject to change, which is a shame because otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

A very pleasant place for lunch, drinks, or dinner. I have frequently had both lunch and dinner there, and the comments below apply to both menus. Menus with a wide selection of often unique dishes. While those dishes sound very promising on the menu, the execution falls somewhat short. There is a certain sloppiness, regarding both the food preparation and the service. For instance, you systematically have to ask the wait staff if you can perhaps get sugar with your tea or coffee. In other respects, however, I find the service very adequate and efficient. They do consistently give a somewhat rushed impression, even when it is relatively quiet. The price level is very moderate, certainly for Amsterdam. And the ambiance is fantastic; a lovely place to visit, which I will continue to do. Reservations are recommended, as it can get very busy.

The food was excellent. Plenty of options for vegetarians. The service was terrible. They paid no attention to us whatsoever. We had to wait half an hour for the menu and only then could we order our first drink. We asked for the carafe of water three times, and it finally arrived after 20 minutes. When we received our main course, we were told that the extra fries we ordered would arrive soon. The main course was already finished, and no fries, so we told the staff to take them off the bill. This was the first time the service was this bad at this restaurant. It's a shame, because it's a fantastic place.

I've eaten here three times in the past few months: twice for dinner and once for lunch. It's a wonderful place to eat. It's also a particularly beautiful spot from a historical perspective. The interior is stylish, peaceful, and bright, providing a real escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The service is attentive, professional, and friendly without being stuffy. The dishes are beautifully presented, with surprising combinations and pure flavors. Delicious wines are also on the wine list! Excellent value for money. Perfect for many occasions, we'll definitely be back for lunch or dinner, both are more than excellent.

A must if you're in the area. The service was exceptionally good, staff was professional and friendly. The restaurant is in the ARTIS museum-zoo area so I was expecting something of less quality, pleasantly surprised it wasn't the case. I found the food cheap compared to the quality they offer. The menu is unique and offer a good variety of dishes and drinks, but I didn't see the menu for drinks like sodas, teas and coffees. Had a berry smoothie, ginger verbena lemonade, super flaky butter croissant, ravioli and the mushroom roast with ricotta, the extra bread was a nice touch. Everything fantastic, will come back!

I am not sure what else to say about this wonderful place! The atmosphere is serene and peaceful! The restaurant is spacious! The service is impeccable! I thank the staff and the chef from the bottom of my heart for being extremely polite and patient. I do not drink wine with a screw cap or plastic cork, which is not cork at the end. The wonderful waitress that we had went to check every time I asked about a bottle. Isn’t she terrific?!! Maybe one suggestion would be to specify this in the menu. A cork bottle wine. This should be standard by now, I think. The prices are quite reasonable for this complete package! No doubt about that!

Had lunch here after a visit to Artis Zoo with the kids. It was disappointing: nothing for children on the menu and no highchairs. Very strange! It's always awkward to get in with a stroller, given the steps at the entrance. The food was good, but the portions were really small. I left hungry.

Very poor service, crowded, but you're on your own. They brought appetizers, but no cutlery. We asked, and they brought two cutlery for three people. The coffee wasn't good, and we had to beg for sugar. We asked for a menu, but they didn't give us one. The appetizers were delicious.

Beautiful building. The food itself was okay. I found the dishes very strange and needed some explanation. The portions were so small that you really need to have a starter as well. That easily costs two people €150. I don't think it's worth it at all. We had to wait a long time for everything, unfortunately. The staff was friendly but not very organized. The main aspect of this restaurant is definitely its very nice atmosphere! The food was good, although I think I should have picked another dish instead of the Cauliflower. My table also asked the pork cheek and the lamb and it was very nice! Good restaurant overall.

The location and atmosphere are good. But when it's 1 degree outside and there's no heating and it's just plain cold...lousy: especially on Valentine's Day. Ultimately, you come for the food. One word: Lousy. I had their specialty, lamb. Price: €32.75 per person. Normally, for that price, you get what you get for two people now, so very little. Taste: none: perfectly cooked and roasted, but no flavor at all, because no herbs, pepper, or salt were used. Fries: they have their own mayonnaise: the chef who makes it should really be fired immediately: no flavor, way too sour; simply awful. It's possible, but if you ask for regular mayonnaise, they don't have it: the arrogance... Rice: lousy. If you say anything, you can get a free dessert... Yes, right, you're definitely in the mood for that. We went for the Heavenly Mud anyway (the title should have warned us). It was more like hellish mud. All in all, a crappy experience and definitely not recommended. A truly unforgettable Valentine's Day date...

Actually had a great experience here. They come off in being a very large expensive super uppidy place, but is actually pretty laid back. You get a nice spacious seating arrangement, great views of the outside promenade and zoo entrance and then a extensive menu. Had the Ravioli and Sinaasapple cake. A truly excellent restaurant. The price is reasonable considering the decor and the quality of the food. I had the leg of lamb, and I highly recommend it: it was superb. The side dishes were also top-notch. A wonderful experience; I recommend it without hesitation.

Everything you order arrives quickly, and the team regularly checks around to make sure everything is going smoothly. There's no pressure to order more: you only order what you want, without any pushy offers (no "champagne to start," for example). You can take your time and enjoy your meal at your leisure, without being rushed to get the bill. Very reasonable value for money considering the location and the overall quality. Main course, dessert, coffee, and a bottle of sparkling water: less than €100 for two.

Terrible. After a very long wait and a few waved, a waiter finally came to take our order. The table was cleared, but not cleaned. After another very long wait, the waiter never returned. We walked to the buffet ourselves, and the waiter came to check on us with a lame excuse: "Didn't the drinks arrive?" Even though he was supposed to bring them himself. He suddenly even knew what we'd ordered. The drinks arrived with a very meager amount in the glasses. The table still hadn't been cleaned. Value for money: very poor. Too bad I can't give it a -5 star rating. We won't be back. Next time, we'll find a cozy pub.

I really like this place, so much so I’ve been 3 times. Food is great, atmosphere is lovely but this final time service was terrible. Something was wrong with the order for every course, service was slow - the place is clearly understaffed. Would really hope to see it improve as it’s a lovely spot!

Having enjoyed lunch at the plantation before, we decided to dine there this time. We reserved a table for lunch and received a warm welcome. The service was very friendly and efficient. They had a great menu. We had a delicious meal. A great place to visit again!

The food looked lovely, tasted nice but all our food was cold. Kitchens open and you could see food waiting on the pass for 10 mins plus. The restaurant was freezing I sat there in my coat. When we told them the food was cold there was a sort of apology, food was taken off the bill but we didn’t know until the end. The waiting was poor, they were polite on direct engagement but rarely checked in, didn’t offer new drinks in fact we had to ask 2-3 times for some water which never turned up. We were ready to walk out by the time our cold main course arrived we waiting 45-60 mins between courses. It’s a shame as the building is absolutely stunning, but I wouldn’t return on those grounds.

Great food. The menu was a bit too complicated for the restaurant's size. Service took a very long time. A starter that was supposed to arrive "quickly" was forgotten, but wasn't brought until the main course. In two hours, we only managed to eat a starter and a main course. It was very busy; booking in advance is recommended.

The food was delicious and the waiter was very kind. However, the knife I received was extremely dirty. I felt uncomfortable about it, so I went to the counter to ask for a new knife, but the new one was also dirty. It was disappointing that the woman at the counter didn't seem to care.

Great place, friendly service. But the food could be better. Fish soup was meager with 3 mussels and 2 pieces of bread. Apple pie with core bits arrived 10 minutes after the lukewarm coffee. The open kitchen looked messy during lunch. Great place to meet friends, but for good food I'll go elsewhere.
